Linnette
He probably paid about as much as you did for your fabric. :lmao:

This is what I made today. I used the circle neck pattern...which is a little wonky, with no facing..but I got over that...LOL.
Pardon the color of the fabric. It was almost dark when I took the photos. The yellow is very bright in real life...:)

And with the risk of going to Disboutique jail...ignore the hair..

I LOVE lemon fabric!! It's so sunny and fun looking!!! Very cute outfit!!

I just thought I would give my opinion on the round neck collar dress. I made one last night for Jenna. I made it using the epcot fabric with a red and white tiny dot fabric for the hem and the collar. I didn't have any problems with the pattern at all. I think that I made it too long though. I have a plan on how to fix it at the hotel if I need to.

I think it was even LESS!!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

maybe he just bent over and pick it up from some somewhere;)

You do amazing work.

I can't recall if you ever mentioned it, but can you tell me how you learned to sew - and who taught you or did you learn yourself? I teach kids and I am starting my first boys class this fall.
I am mostly self taught, but have learned ALOT from this Disboutiquers thread as well as trial and error!
I think it is great that you are going to teach boys this fall!
I hope with the delivery of the crayon rolls that I made, I will set an example to the boys in the class that you don't have to be a girl to sew!

For those of you who asked, here is my crown. It is green because that is the color of paper I had handy when I cut it :confused3 I'm leaving it full sized for those who want to copy it.
THANK YOU!:goodvibes

My problem was the armholes..I found this great seam binding that was double fold and thinner than the other stuff, so I tried that. It worked but was hard to do. The yoke gave me a little trouble too. I just made sure, when I did the back, to stitch it to the under side, instead of the front, this way, if there were any mistakes, they would be on the inside..and of course I made NONE!! :rotfl2:
UMMMMM! SHOW OFF! :rotfl:

I might have to break down and get this pattern.
I have seen alot of tops in the stores made like this. The yoke does scare me a little though!

Hey, vintage is all the rage now-a-days. :rolleyes1 Come on y'all join me in posting yer vintage sewing machines!!!! Let's see yer babies in action.:dance3:

you asked...

IMG_0950.jpg

She's a beauty...eh? This machine NEVER breaks down. When I was little my sister and I used to make Barbie clothes with it using Kleenex and fabric scraps. It is a great machine...if all you want to do is a straight stitch :rotfl2: I keep my ruffler foot on it.

and now I REALLY NEED that circle neck top pattern! :lmao:

Whaaa...you mean they make different diameter spool hick-a-ma-bobs?:scared1: Ok, here's an illustration, don't y'all laugh....or if you do laugh with me & not at me, k?:rotfl:

Here's my "Telescopic Spool Pin(-minus the felt, that got lost?)" per my 1985 French to Spanish manual.......
SpoolPin.jpg

Here is the Mettler thread hole on the left, Coats & Clark thread hole on right.
Spools.jpg
There is a difference in size on the spools obviously. :headache: The machine is from 1985 & I suppose thread was universal.:confused3 Or there was an embargo on German threads that year?:rotfl:

Any suggests on how to accomodate my relic of a machine for these new fangled imports?:confused3 Here is for the DIS boutique wall of shame, my Singer Merritt 9612 circa 1985:laughing: :rotfl: :lmao: ......

Hmmm.... nevermind then!
I was talking about the plastic doo-dad that holds the spool ON the spool pin (if the spool pin is sideways). since yours is up and down, you don't seem to have one of those. Although, maybe that is why the thread jumps around a lot more. With all the extra twisting you were talking about, maybe that doesn't affect it as much if the spool is sideways? I dunno...:confused3

That is too funny! Maybe you can trade both of them in for something made this century! :rotfl:

I bought a pattern for Megan for the future when she is too big for ruffles and bows that might work for your older girls. I haven't tried it yet but it says easy; it's simplicity 5641.

So cute! My son isn't interested is sewing, unless it is to help me hunt for pokemon fabric! :rotfl2:

Elisa: I love the how the stepsisters came out! That outfit is great. And I have a store pattern similar to the round neck sundress but after seeing yours and Leslie's I might have to break down and get it. It's really cute.

Lori: Your Alice is stunning! It is so delicate and perfect, you really did a great job on it.

Ok advice please. I bought the Japanese Alice fabric that I think Leslie found and can't decide what to do with it. It's for the tea party for M's birthday. I originally wanted to do Leslie's ruffled criss cross top with capris but a) I think the pattern is too big and would get lost in the ruffles and b) I don't know about capris for a tea party, it seems a skirt is in order. So now I am thinking a circle skirt (like Lori makes a lot) with a halter top but I have been doing a lot of them and want this to be special. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Wish me luck..I'm starting a new appliqued outfit...It's going to have TONS of applique...I'm not so sure about this...LOL..We were supposed to be at Epcot, but my eye started hurting last night, so I had to take out the contacts and wear glasses...and I hate sewing in glasses...so maybe Epcot tomorrow...

I wore my old machine out!! It cost more to repair then what is was worth, so I borrowed my Mom's until I got a new one.

What about using the holder quilters use for cone threads. It would sit behind your machine, the thread would go up instead of over to the loop holder. I know this doesn't make sense unless you know what I'm talking about.

I have this same sewing tote, for the machine I wore out. Kirsta has her Kids Janome machine in it. She sews for about 3 minutes, then gets bored and wants to do something else. I bet someone gave it to him!

BTW.... the oldies are the goodies! As you can see, they don't see to wear out. My old one was a Singer, circa the 70-80's. :hippie:

I've seen this fabric. I was looking at something similar for Cinderella. I find it the hardest thing to decide what to make with the fabric, unless I have an idea ahead of time, what I want to do. What about just using this fabric is the Alice design. With the cards being the apron? Make it very poofy sinces it's special. If you made it the dress shorter, maybe doing bloomers that hang down underneath? Ribbon laced throught the leg bottom and maybe the sleeves. Sort of Victorian.

Here is what I have been working on lately:
DSC00464.jpg

I totally CASED this one! I am still not completely happy with the bottom, but oh well.

I think I'm the CASE-ee on this one. Looks like my DD's :)

Looks great! The bottom- I took the lighter pink and tacked it up in places. (sort of spread the fold out so it looked like more of a swagging ribbon than a folded fabric.)

If that doesn't make sense, PM me and I'll send you a close up pic.

I love that top it's very princess. I want to buy the disney petti so very much badly but:scared1: with three girls it's alot of money that I don't have to begin with to buy them so I will love them from afar. On everyone elses little ones:rotfl:

Hi..I know I showed you all the Stepsister appliques that I did last week, but I made a skirt yesterday to go with it. It's meant for Ireland or larger..it's a size 8. So it's really big on poor Lexie, but she's the only model available. :rotfl:
I love how Lucifer and Lady Tremaine came out..I only wish I had done a few more appliques but couldn't think of anything else that went with them. I was thinking maybe Bruno? Oh well..

this it the new round neck top from YCMT with the easy fit pants. I think i am going to like this pattern once I get a few more under my belt.
that is so cute I love it. So many cute things yesterday I had posted the yellow dress I made. Thank you everyone for the wonderful comments :dance3: makes me want to sew more now. So off I went to sew all day yesterday. And only got one dress done. :headache: twin toddlers and a first grader = not enough time in the day to doing anything.:rolleyes1

Here are my latest creations. I love the second set!:lovestruc

Okay, you're all starting to freak me out about the round neck pattern!! I was just off to Joanns to find some coordinating fabric for my butterflies (found at the quilt store on CLEARANCE yesterday-it was a fabulous fabric day yesterday!!)
To make this top for Lily for a party we have tomorrow (the 4th outfit can wait!) and now I'm a little apprehensive.

Well, I have to get going my pattern is done printing and I still have to go to Joanns.

...t.

Linette, you cracky me up!!!!:lmao: That is exactly how I got my machine, DH brought it home from a flea market 9 or 10 years ago!!:rotfl: :rotfl: It still works great though. I don't know what I'm missing I suppose. :confused3 I'm sure if I tried out one of the newer models I'd be obsessed with buying one. Ooooo, just think of all the lovely creations I could "whip up"

jahmmy- that looks like the machine I learned how to sew with in home economic class!Love it!!!!:goodvibes Whew, aren't ya glad it's a built in, because they are heavy!! I started sewing on Barbie clothes & small quilts, myself. How on earth did you sew kleenex? I'm jealous, because I was always looking for ways to be resourceful with scraps for the Barbie fashions!]

[That is adorable. My youngest ds(4) is interested in my machine & sewing too. I think he wants to try & dismantle it more than anything though.:rotfl:]
This is the cone holder that might work for the small spool thread.

be6e_1.JPG
I saw those at Hancock's last week & wonder about that myself. ;) I guess I'll only know if I invest in one. Don't know if I'm commited yet though. I'm almost finished with the Cinerella Apron anyway. Thanks for the great idea.

I just made sure, when I did the back, to stitch it to the under side, instead of the front, this way, if there were any mistakes, they would be on the inside..and of course I made NONE!! :rotfl2:
I made my own bias binding for the armholes, I didn't have problems with it. I cut it on the 45 and it stretched really well. I just cut a 10x2 strip.

I think I'm the CASE-ee on this one. Looks like my DD's :)

Looks great! The bottom- I took the lighter pink and tacked it up in places. (sort of spread the fold out so it looked like more of a swagging ribbon than a folded fabric.)

that makes perfect sense! Thanks for the advice.

I love that idea! Unfortunately, it was so expensive I only got a yard of each. Maybe a halter dress with an apron? Hmm, anyway, thanks!

That's true, I'm very lucky I only have one girl! When Jacob needs new clothes I just wait for a sale at Target and buy him half a dozen of the same thing and he's as happy as a clam. Boys are so easy that way.
