Which type of Mettler thread? They have several!

In general, a thread net probably would help keep the thread on the spool. You should use matching regular sewing thread in the bobbin. And you may need to use a specialty needle--possibly embroidery or metal (for metallic thread).
Thanks for the feedback on the Mettler. I normally don't buy it & had decided to splurge with a sale a few months back.:rolleyes1 The thread I'm using is Mettler 40/2 poly-sheen.

I've done some google research & discovered that the Mettler spools are "cross wound" for a smooth feed on sewing machines and sergers. "They are twist balanced to eliminate tangling and knotting and lint resistant to minimize the collection of lint in your machine from thread". This is why the spool is wobbling on the machine while working.---duh!:headache:

I don't think there's any resolve for this, just adjustments & patience on my part. It's a beautiful thread & very smooth moving. Wish I could sew exclusive with it;) !

I never considered an different needle for these purposes.:confused3 I'm just generally lazy & use the all purpose needle for every thing! Any material thickness & weight, or any project-it's all good....:rotfl: That is why my creations can be classified as "home made" & not "boutique".;) Also why I go thru needles a lot....:lmao:

Love all the lastest creations, especially all the story book skirts!! Cute!:cutie: Y'all inspire me!!:grouphug:

Are you using a thread cap that is the same size as the spool? (I don't know what the thing is actually called, but it is the part that keeps the spool on the spool holder at the top of the machine.) It should be the same size diameter as the tread you're using, so if you were originally using coats and clark (or something that uses a similar spool diameter) and went to a mettler smaller sized spool, that could make it jump around as well. I've forgotten to change the size on mine before, and sometimes its fine and sometimes it really doesn't like it very much....

Here are my latest creations. I love the second set!:lovestruc

I can't wait to start working on some Disney outfits but I have not been inspired yet. I bought fabric today to start working on a welcome home set for Mark's homecoming---it will take awhile because I have some serious apppliqueing to do on it.

I love both of them!!!!! Which pattern did you use for the second set?

A quick update about the presser foot issue:

I ran back out to Wally to see if they had the foot sitting around. Of course the CSR had no clue since she only works nights and the manager of the dept will not be back in until Mon. So ran up to the local quilting store my mom goes to and asked them if they had one. Sure enough, they had a "generic" one for $3.99. Of course since I never really looked at the presser foot, I had not idea if it was shank or snap on so I bought both and can return the one. Note to self, I use a snap on foot.;)

So I took Erin's measurements tonight and have that written in on the pattern. Now to sit and look over the machine again and see if I can set it up!

I got the fabric today and this is what the store owner gave me :
6yrds of each color

I bought these :
4 yard of each(1.00 a yrd)

but I am not sure if these fabrics will be ok...

still need ideas for styles (5 fifth grader dress)

thanks

Thanks! I used the round neck top that lots of people have been using from YCMT. It was super simple to follow and is my new favorite pattern. The headscarf I made my own pattern for and the shorts I added cuffs to some Target shorts. I love how it came out too!

For the fifth grader mabye an a line halter dress out of the striped fabric?? I don't think that would be too babyish and the stripe would make it more grown up. Also mabye with a v neck?Mabye a solid colored cuff at the bottom? The other idea I had was thw triangle cris cross dress from YCMT, but all one color instead of 2 different ones for the top?

This is what I made today. I used the circle neck pattern...which is a little wonky, with no facing..but I got over that...LOL.
Pardon the color of the fabric. It was almost dark when I took the photos. The yellow is very bright in real life...:)

And with the risk of going to Disboutique jail...ignore the hair..

Whaaa...you mean they make different diameter spool hick-a-ma-bobs?:scared1: Ok, here's an illustration, don't y'all laugh....or if you do laugh with me & not at me, k?:rotfl:

Here's my "Telescopic Spool Pin(-minus the felt, that got lost?)" per my 1985 French to Spanish manual.......

There is a difference in size on the spools obviously. :headache: The machine is from 1985 & I suppose thread was universal.:confused3 Or there was an embargo on German threads that year?:rotfl:

Any suggests on how to accomodate my relic of a machine for these new fangled imports?:confused3 Here is for the DIS boutique wall of shame, my Singer Merritt 9612 circa 1985:laughing: :rotfl: :lmao: ......

What a cutie! I swear she (and Lexie too) is cuter every time you post pics. Love the fabric combinations. I have absoluelty no need for that pattern, but seeing your creation, 2cutekidz creation, the one above, it is just hard to resist. Must.not.buy.you.have.boys.for.goodness.sake.

I got it this week too and I just posted my outfit tonight. I had a hard time with the topstitching on the yoke. I think I just need some more practice.

My problem was the armholes..I found this great seam binding that was double fold and thinner than the other stuff, so I tried that. It worked but was hard to do. The yoke gave me a little trouble too. I just made sure, when I did the back, to stitch it to the under side, instead of the front, this way, if there were any mistakes, they would be on the inside..and of course I made NONE!! :rotfl2:

I can do you one better. Before I got my current machine a couple of months ago I was sewing on a singer vintage 1962!!!!! All I could do was straight stiches, not even a zig-zag!!!!

Here is sTinkerbell modeling her crown tank top. She always wants to tilt her head, squint, and hold her hands in front of her so I can't see her outfit. :headache: and yes, her bows and/or pigtails are lopsided, didn't notice 'till I looked at the photos :sad2:

I think that the fabrics look great. I'm sure that you will come up with something really pretty for each of the girls.

And No!! I am not done packing. I am waiting on the dryer. DH forgot the ice when we went to Wal-Mart earlier. So we have to go get ice before we leave. I did not get to do Jenna's night gowns. Ran out of time. Tinker is sedated :scared1: . I hate to do it to her, but she is absolutely horrible in a car. I have scars to prove it. We are still hoping to be on the road by ten, but since Jenna is at my granparents house we won't actually be "on the way" until probably around midnight. Which was the original plan. So not too bad. I think I am going to go double check my list and the dryer.
