YEAH :cool1: I finally finished! (I believe I have failed to mention that I tore my rotator cuff and am in a sling) ....yet managed to sew two outfits this weekend! I also got my haircut in a young funky style. I will have to style it and take a pic. DD almost 10 is still sick  Poor thing!

OK on with the show.....

BEFORE:

Fabric from Walmarshay...

AND AFTER!!! This is the Daisy Kingdom 2988. Whoever wrote the directions acted like they were losing $100 for every word of directions they included. I managed with some help from you awesome Disers though...thanks Steve's Bug!

These poses remind me of an anti-perspirant ad :rotfl:

IMGP5274.jpg

The back....do you feel this is too revealing for a little one? Miss Cammie and Utah Mom....would you dress your girls in an outfit without a back???? Not so sure I am happy with this and I really need your opinions...thanks!

IMGP5276.jpg

And one funny parting shot

IMGP5279.jpg

How on EARTH did you tear your rotator cuff? Is this a horse injury? It sounds like a either a baseball injury or a horse injury! Are you out pitching one too many innings?!

Those dresses are just DARLING!!! They are beautifully made and not in the least immodest or inappropriate! Especially for such little girls. I think that halter dresses seem so startlingly bare in the back b/c there is so much fabric every where else. The only thing I would worry about with a halter dress is making sure their little backs are sunscreened to the nth degree b/c it rubs off with so much sitting against things!! They are lovely! Sally had a halter dress once and she didn't like having her back bare. But that was more a "germ phobic" issue than a nekkidness issue! She looked absolutely precious in it!

really...as long as everyone is wearing undies, everything else can be nekkid...no issues there!

:rotfl:

Beautiful dresses. Really!!!

It's 10:15 pm, the baby has been asleep for an hour and I shooouuuld be sewing but noooooo, here I am an hour later procrastinating. I am taking Violette to the Go Diego Go show on the 16th. I'm making my 1st stripwork dress. So far I have the bodice almost all done and the strips sewn together. Now I've just gotta finish. I'll post pics when I'm done :)

I wanna share some of my designs as well :) My latest is this knit hoodie dress and matching capri pants and the patchwork jumper dress that I made my Olivia for our trip in December:

Wow thats a lot of pictures! I will be making outfits for each of my 3 dd's for our trip! Lots of time left to make lots of fun outfits! I love seeing all of the fun and creative designs on this thread! Thanks for letting me share :)

I am in the middle of designing a smocking plate! I have never done it before. I have smocked tons of stuff, just not designed my own plates. Here are two of the designs that I have in mind. I plan on adding the croc in the middle (and maybe the clock too). I might just put a tiny tink (or a green/gold sparkly thing) above Peter's hat. Please tell me that you can tell what it is. . .

panandhookcopy.jpg

And the croc. . .

croccopy.jpg

I think these are FABULOUS! I would love to know how to smock. It just seems extremely labor intensive. I love how it looks though! I think these designs would come out really, really cute! Please post pics of the finished product.

LOVE the Olivia! What is the Minnie on the pocket? Is it embroidered? Iron on?

That is absolutely facinating about smocking....I haven't a clue how it works I just know its so cute on outfits. I love these patterns though...you are so talented deary! Are the boys wearing these?

WHEW! We made it through the day!! It was supposed to pour rain and thunder storm all day and it turned out to be GORGEOUS and nearly 80 degrees! Glorious day!!! The Build a Bear party went well. Sally Rally had some anxious moments before we went. She got into her completely darling new "Birthday" outift, along with her new pink Minnie Jane crocs...and suddenly she was crying. She was afraid everyone was going to look at her. She was afraid she was too dressed up...in a knit dress and leggings...

She has pockets of extreme shyness. I wrestled with letting her change into something a little more familiar b/c I didn't want her to feel anxious...but then I remembered that I am her wicked step mother and it my JOB to challenge her! So I told her she looked great and that was that. Oh and PS-NO CRYING AT YOUR PARTY!

She sucked it up.

*ahem*

;)

Teddy looked darling as well.

here's some pictures b/c I know y'all are THAT interested!

getting some moral support from her best buddy! (Sally is the brown one in the pink sweater and pigtails!)

And guess what y'all...Sally got a SEWING MACHINE from her grandma!!! She was THRILLED to death!! I cried when she opened it. I thought of all y'all and how much love you show your munchkins with your sewing machines! It's a nice one too! It's a Jenome Petite...I think that's what it's called! Tomorrow Sally will sit with her grandma and they will sew a pillow together!

I couldn't be more excited for her. What a wonderful gift!

and I am so dang tired right now I could cry!

Hope y'all had a good day!!!
First, Sally looks like she had a great time once she got there. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SALLY!!!! :bday: party: :jumping1: :rockband: Sometimes kids just get shy. What a great party and sorry that the one kid misbehaved...been there done that. And what a great gift....a sewing machine and private time with grandma. Perhaps you could sit in on the session and learn a thing or two... :rotfl:

Awww thanks Miss Cammie about the dresses. I feel much better. I guess I am so used to winter clothes that to see the nekid back was a bit shocking. Oh and they did have undies on! I promise!
Oh yeah and about the rotator cuff....I think I did it when I was reaching backwards trying to grab DD3's ankles and pull her across the bed to tickle her. I felt a sharp pain and then nothing. Well as the month of March went on, it got worse and worse. I finally got it checked out Tuesday. I may need an MRI next week to see how bad it really is....:confused3 Don't worry about me though....better living thru chemistry.....they gave me like three scripts to get thru the pain and sleep at night~ trust me they are working great!:yay:

And the croc. . .

croccopy.jpg

Oh I can't wait to see how these turn out....really cute stuff!

Hi Everybody...I've been busy laying in the sun, drinking my diet Cherry Pepsi, and haven't done much sewing. I did manage 2 sundresses for the girls and one bow. I guess they will have to fight over it, or I will have to make another. If I can I will post pictures tomorrow. Love all of the new stuff!!

I'm VERY relieved to hear that your girls were wearing undies! I mean one can't be sure of anything these days apparently! It is no longer a given that small girls will in fact be wearing underpants!

whoa...a TICKLE injury!!! Now THAT is a unique way to tear your rotator cuff!! Yikes!! Poor you!!! That's a wretched injury to have! The fact that you were able to sew despite a torn rotator cuff means you are HARDCORE!:thumbsup2 Rock on!!! Sew on even!!!:cool2:

Oh and I FULLY intend to sit in on the Sally/Grandma sewing lesson!!! I also ordered a "Sewing for Dummies" book...see if I can't learn me something new!

I'm excited!

Thanks so much! I have not been really in the sewing mood in the last few days. Whipped up the Minnie Dots knit dress and have been slacking since! This thread was the motivation I needed to get back into the groove and start making the girls sets for our trip :) Just got some new embroidery designs and I am good to go :woohoo:

I had a multi quote going an lost it bout everone's stuff from the last couple days is just fab!

I agree with the PP who said that she enjoys coming here because of the senes of family. I have gotten so much help and support here. THANKS!!!!!

Here is what I have been working on this weekend CASED from Laurap22 with a couple changes:

The applique is NOT perfect at all, but it is the second time i have tried it and the first one I have done that is not a square, so I guess it will just have to be ok. I took the design from the line drawing of rocket on the fabric. I will hopefully get a little better at it. You guys do such great appliques I want to get good enought ot case some more of them:)

OK I am signing off......nighty night~~~

LisaZoe- That Minnie Mouse dress is too de-vine!!!! You are so talented. And the shoes! Oh the shoes! Do you do all of that free hand?
Im assuming with Minnie you plan out where you need what fabrics, create it on paper, then create "pattern pieces" for each color, and then applique on?
I love the idea of ruffles on the back for a little girl- very cute.
Does she wear these outfits primarily at WDW or at home too? They just all seem so special- wearable works of art.

I start with coloring pages or clip art I find on the Internet as a starting point. I've written a tutorial for how I do applique that can be found here:
Lisa Zoe's applique tutorial

On that same board, I wrote a quick overview of painting on fabric. For Minnie, I printed a line drawing in the size I needed for the shoes and then traced around it with a white sewing pencil. I then added the lines within to give me a starting point for the details. I had to tweak them a bit to get her to look right but that's the nice thing about paint - you can usually cover mistakes pretty simply. Gotta love THAT! :woohoo:

Wow, those are wonderful. I can't wait to see the finished product. I learned to do smocking last year but just don't have the patience for it so I admire it from afar. ;)

CASE'd Little Ensteins- I just love that fabric and this outfit is so cute- nice job- I dont see anything wrong with that applique- I think it looks great!!!!

Daisy Kingdom patterns- I just bought a bunch of these, are they typically difficult to sew?

And the croc. . .

croccopy.jpg

Oh my gosh! Isnt that just darling! I cant wait to see the outfit!! I Love, love, love, love, love smocking!!!!!
Do you read Sew Beautiful magazine?
I want to learn in the worst way. But all the shops around here only teach quilting.
Do you think you'd be interested in doing an outfit for me with the Peter Pan designs?

Oh and regarding getting pg- I havent breathed a word to DH. He wanted to start trying in Oct and i said no-I wasnt ready. So I figured I'd just surprise him when it happens. When that happens you girls will have to help me with ideas on how to tell him.

Those are too cute. I too agree on the showing of the back. I sometimes feel like that is too much of my child to be seen, but that pattern covers more of the front and sides than most. Sometimes I will have Jenna wear a shirt under her dress just to cover her back. I do like Lisa's idea of the bows.
I second Lisa's idea of doing the bows in back.

And for all those who wrote such kind thoughts, and encouragement to me over the last 2 days- thank you! It really helped. I feel open to moving-whichever direction DH's company takes us. And that Im not a bad Mom (well today anyway lol) So, really, thank you.

The Mom who posted about her little girl's surgery- it was going to be on Friday- has anyone heard from her? I forget her name now....

TeresaJoy/HeatherSue- The shirt and your Mom are wonderful!!

Her eye is still like that- one droops a bit. I dont know why it happened, her optomitrist says she is near sighted. I hate it when my parents look at her and say "gosh, its a shame, are you gonna do anything about it" sigh...a Momma's love just doesnt see it as a issue.
and...I've been thinking about it, and I think Im gonna stop taking the pill at the end of the month and see what happens....
She's a total cutie. I don't think that the eye thing is that big of a deal and when she gets older I don't think anyone will notice.

Love the pictures. I'm hoping that the BAB will be opened in Monroe by the time that Jenna's birthday comes around. That way she can have a party with her cousins at BAB.

I wanna share some of my designs as well :) My latest is this knit hoodie dress and matching capri pants and the patchwork jumper dress that I made my Olivia for our trip in December:

Too cute. I love the minnie dot stuff.

I have to get started making a Poodle skirt for my DN. My sister asked me to one. It has to be done within two weeks and it is going to be made of pink satin. I think that it will be very pretty. The lady at Wal-Mart gave us alot of helpful information on how to get the skirt to really stand out.
