I had a multi quote going an lost it bout everone's stuff from the last couple days is just fab!

I agree with the PP who said that she enjoys coming here because of the senes of family. I have gotten so much help and support here. THANKS!!!!!

Here is what I have been working on this weekend CASED from Laurap22 with a couple changes:

The applique is NOT perfect at all, but it is the second time i have tried it and the first one I have done that is not a square, so I guess it will just have to be ok. I took the design from the line drawing of rocket on the fabric. I will hopefully get a little better at it. You guys do such great appliques I want to get good enought ot case some more of them:)

You did a great job! What pattern did you use. I have this dress in the favorites as a possible for my einstein material too. I have 3 in mind, but I love this one!

He is so adorable! Love the picture of him looking at the train. I love looking at baby pictures....but these kids grow up so fast!

Zoe is such a beautiful baby!!! I wish I can paint and sew like that. I have never been good at art....the top and the shoes are gorgeous! My dh wants to know if you sell those painted shoes/sneakers.

You did a great job on the top, and Lauren is so cute!!

I love the Pooh Bear dresses. I like LisaZoe's idea of the ties on the back..or you can always add a shirt inside if you are worried. I made my dd a halter style top, and whenever she wear it with her hair up, I always feel like too much is exposed.

I think that will look really cute. I can't wait to see the finished product!

I love that knit Minnie Mouse top.

That Einstein dress is beautiful. Love the colors that you choose, and your applique looks great. I haven't been daring enough to try and applique something that's other than a Mickey Mouse head, square or circle!

Oh my gosh, these are just adorable!! I love the striped fabric with the Pooh fabric, it really sets it off. Your girls are SOO pretty!

I think the girls are doing "the Ariel" in the deodorant shot. There is a pose of Ariel that I call the "putting on her deodorant" pose. :lmao: They use it on everything!

Sorry to hear about your shoulder. I've heard that can be very painful. My 70-something year old friend just had rotator cuff surgery last week and she's doing really well (she even met me at Chuck E. Cheese with her wild grandson on Friday).

Her eye is still like that- one droops a bit. I dont know why it happened, her optomitrist says she is near sighted. I hate it when my parents look at her and say "gosh, its a shame, are you gonna do anything about it" sigh...a Momma's love just doesnt see it as a issue.
and...I've been thinking about it, and I think Im gonna stop taking the pill at the end of the month and see what happens....
She is such a little beauty!! I didn't even notice her eye until you pointed it out. I just noticed that she's gorgeous! It must be hurtful when your parents make comments like that!

I can DEFINITELY tell who it is!! These look great!

And guess what y'all...Sally got a SEWING MACHINE from her grandma!!! She was THRILLED to death!! I cried when she opened it. I thought of all y'all and how much love you show your munchkins with your sewing machines! It's a nice one too! It's a Jenome Petite...I think that's what it's called! Tomorrow Sally will sit with her grandma and they will sew a pillow together!

What fun!! I love that Teddy signed the bear's hiney :rotfl2: and that he named his koala Bob. Our BAB person didn't even tell me we had a signature bear, so Tessa's bear has no signatures. :sad1: Luckily, she sees her cousins quite often and we'll have to have them sign it one of these days.

Yes, do sit in on the sewing machine lesson! I'd love it if you figured out this whole sewing thing!

Wow! You are talented! I've never tried to make anything out of knit, but I've wanted to. That first outfit has me wanted to try something soon! I love all of them, they're great!

I'm VERY relieved to hear that your girls were wearing undies! I mean one can't be sure of anything these days apparently! It is no longer a given that small girls will in fact be wearing underpants!
Rest assured that Tessa wears underpants AND shorts (or tights or leggings) under her skirts/dresses. She is NOT a ladylike sitter.

This turned out wonderfully! I think your applique looks great!

I haven't been daring enough to try and applique something that's other than a Mickey Mouse head, square or circle!

If you can do a Mickey head, you can do something more complex! I find Mickey's head to be pretty difficult, with all the curves and such. Have you looked at my applique tutorial? I tried to make it easy for beginners.

Okay, now for some baby pictures. Tessa was NOT a cute newborn. I knew it at the time, and I know it now!! It didn't stop me from instantly falling in love with her, though.:lovestruc I was a little worried because I thought mothers were supposed to think their babies were beautiful! :rotfl: Here's some proof:

Daisy Kingdom patterns- I just bought a bunch of these, are they typically difficult to sew?
They werent too difficult.....just ask if you need help since we all have them. My difficulty was that I went from making Carla C's Sweet Dress to the Daisy Kingdom. Carla explains everything and has lots of pics and its just so wonderful. Then I went to the commercial pattern and they talk in code... and put just enough words in the directions to get you through. I mean would it kill them to explain a little more. The piping caused a chocolate attack...really...I had to eat like three pieces and then go back and try again. Now that I have done it once, I get it. So again, I wouldn't say it was hard or that the pattern left out steps, it was just not user friendly like Carla! ;)

I love the dresses. The colors are so brilliant. You made a great choice with the coordinating fabrics! I have this pattern and some different winnie the pooh fabric to make with it. I am terrified of the pattern because of all the problems everyone is having with it! :scared:
Thanks for the compliment! See above comment about the difficulty. Be sure to ask if you have questions. If you have sewn with commercial patterns before it shouldnt be too hard. I just got spoiled....

BEAUTIFUL kiddos! I thought I was the only one that thought my baby wasn't beautiful at birth. Jackson was beautiful, but Cooper was not a cute newborn. All of his newborn pics are sleeping because he looked so ackward awake. I will try to dig up some pics. Great job on the pic of Sawyer- his eyes really pop in that pic.

Sally wasn't a lady like sitter either when I met her. She would lay on her back, legs wide open, lolling around on the floor. I nearly had heart failure the first time I witnessed that! After scooping her up off the floor and grounding her for a million years for being atrociously unladylike...just kidding...we had a chat about ladies ALWAYS keeping their knees together and ankles crossed when sitting! She actually does really well with that now. I swear, she was the Wild Girl of Borneo when I met her and I came along and appealed to her innate sense of rules. She LOVES it! I swear. She does. It's not that I'm obsessive and overbearing about it...at all...it's not.

i swear.

The back....do you feel this is too revealing for a little one? Miss Cammie and Utah Mom....would you dress your girls in an outfit without a back???? Not so sure I am happy with this and I really need your opinions...thanks!
These turned out beautifully!!!! Your girls look so adorable!!!

I love halter backs, but I do like them to go up a little higher than these do. But, since your girls are so little, I don't think it's a problem. I do really like Lisa's bow idea though. Arminda had the cutest halter dress when she was about 3, I just loved it on her!

I think the dresses are cute on your cuties! Personally, I like to have the back of halters up a bit higher on Zoe now that she's older. I think it's fine on smaller ones, though. If you're concerned about the front slipping to the side, you could tighten the back elastic a bit or add some simple ties a bit under the armholes... kind of like the back of dress A-B (McCall's 3260):

M3260.gif

BTW - This is a dress I've been wanting to make for Zoe but just haven't tried yet. I really like the back on that version.
I love the bow idea Lisa!

Oh, she is just DARLING!!!! What a pretty little baby!!!

WHEW! We made it through the day!! It was supposed to pour rain and thunder storm all day and it turned out to be GORGEOUS and nearly 80 degrees! Glorious day!!! The Build a Bear party went well. Sally Rally had some anxious moments before we went. She got into her completely darling new "Birthday" outift, along with her new pink Minnie Jane crocs...and suddenly she was crying. She was afraid everyone was going to look at her. She was afraid she was too dressed up...in a knit dress and leggings...

She has pockets of extreme shyness. I wrestled with letting her change into something a little more familiar b/c I didn't want her to feel anxious...but then I remembered that I am her wicked step mother and it my JOB to challenge her! So I told her she looked great and that was that. Oh and PS-NO CRYING AT YOUR PARTY!

She sucked it up.

*ahem*

Teddy looked darling as well.

here's some pictures b/c I know y'all are THAT interested!

getting some moral support from her best buddy! (Sally is the brown one in the pink sweater and pigtails!)

These all look fantastic!

I wanna share some of my designs as well :) My latest is this knit hoodie dress and matching capri pants and the patchwork jumper dress that I made my Olivia for our trip in December:

Wow thats a lot of pictures! I will be making outfits for each of my 3 dd's for our trip! Lots of time left to make lots of fun outfits! I love seeing all of the fun and creative designs on this thread! Thanks for letting me share

Cute outfits!!!! Thank you so much for sharing these with us!

I think my Mom thinks I'm a bit weird for not thinking all newborns are cute! Somehow, she always seems to think they are!!! :confused3 Don't get me wrong, I LOOOVE newborns, but I don't have to think they are beautiful to fall in love!

Zoe is such a beautiful baby!!! I wish I can paint and sew like that. I have never been good at art....the top and the shoes are gorgeous! My dh wants to know if you sell those painted shoes/sneakers.

Thank you! I just sent a PM. :)

So does Zoe. I bought a bunch of leggings in fall because I know how she is. She does OK when seated but honestly rarely stays seated if she can get up and move. She'll do cartwheels and not think about what that does with her skirt/dress. LOL For now I don't mind since she'll always have something over her panties.

BTW - In class, each day they have to sit cross legged on the floor for "carpet time" (when the teacher reads to them) even if she didn't do spontaneous gymnastics, I'd want something to cover for carpet time and while she's on the playground.

ALL I'm going to say about that is

IT'S SNOWING OUT!!!!! :cold:

Not to gloat (OK, maybe a little), it was about 80 yesterday and we had a water fight. Since we had snow fall (not much stuck) over spring break, this change is very welcome.

Tessa was pretty when she was born. She just has a nice double chin going. Not that I'm bragging, but Jenna was beautiful the day she was born. She had a head full of dark brown hair and her eyes were just as blue as they could be. Even the nurses told me how beautiful she was. One of them said that they were arguing over who gets to take care of her while she was in the nursery. :rotfl: I don't have any of her newborn pictures on the computer.

I love the idea of ruffles on the back for a little girl- very cute. Does she wear these outfits primarily at WDW or at home too? They just all seem so special- wearable works of art.

Oops, I realized this morning that I didn't answer these questions. :goodvibes Zoe actually doesn't wear these types of outfits at home. Unfortunately she decided last summer that she only wants to wear "normal clothes". I think that happened after she wore an Ariel outfit on a shopping trip and she got more attention than she liked. I mostly stopped making things for her that are too "fancy" and stick to fairly basic things, embellished jeans and tees, some simple twirl skirts, etc. Anything I made her that is nicer sits in her closet. I'm going to have her try on the Disney sets I made last year to see if they still fit. I have a feeling some will be a bit too small but I'm hoping one or two will work for our May trip.

Luckily so far she seems to be OK with the idea of wearing the sets I'm making while we're at DLR but I have a feeling they won't get worn again once we're home (the shoes might be an exception). I'm still trying to keep the styles fairly simple so they don't get in her way for having fun. I've been tempted to make at least one "over the top" set but I'll focus on the simpler sets to start and only do something more elaborate if time allows.

Okay, I am a nurse, worked in the newborn nursery for over 10 years. Let me tell you, there are way more "not pretty" babies, than pretty ones! We were taught in school that you should always say something nice to the mom about her baby when her child is born, no matter what it looks like. Even if it is just to compliment the outfit! When my oldest was born, first thing I said, "Oh poor thing, quick put a hat and something cute on him quick!" Honestly to this day, after seeing hundreds if not thousands of newborns, I still think my oldest is the ugliest baby I have ever seen. When my friends came to see us in the hospital, I said, "Look I know, for heavens sake don't say anything about his clothes...it's okay:)" It really didn't matter. If anything, I bonded with him more strongly because it made me so protective and fierce! He grew up okay:) He is the one wearing the flourescent orange. My middle child is next to him. He was a stunningly beautiful baby. Simply perfect. I wish I had newborn pics to show you guys! My baby girl was cute. Very alert and active, but typical newborn looking.

You have the most beautiful children Maureen!!! Sometimes the ugliest babies make the cutest kids! I have seen some however, that just stayed really ugly! I still loved the little booger though! Don't worry, I'm not talking about one of Heather's, David's or my kids!

It seems that in our family (meaning, my siblings) we have some of the shall we say, "less beautiful" newborns! Our niece Casey was NOT cute either! Even my mother, at the time, didn't think she was beautiful. The two boys though, came out perfect!

I need to find some newborn pictures of Arminda and Lydia. I'm not sure which computer they are on. Lydia was pretty cute, but not stunning like Corey.

And one funny parting shot

IMGP5279.jpg

These turned out very nicely! The thing that concerns me about halter dresses is Sunburn! So I haven't made anything in that style. Your girls look like they love the dresses

The pattern is the halter style of Carla C's simply sweet tops and dreses. The pants are her easy fit pants.

BEAUTIFUL babies!!!!!!

Yeah! I just got dh to agree to buying the simply sweet dress pattern and the peasant dress pattern. The pants will have to wait for now. Maybe I can get my dm to buy it!

Well no snow here but lots of showers!

I've spent this afternoon making Hope's Minnie Dot dress - its not quite finished so photos to follow. I can't wait to go back to Carla's patterns with no darts and sensible seam allowances. Why do they use 5/8" on patterns and then tell you to trim it down.:headache:

I finally watched Enchanted yesterday (oh yes it takes that long for the UK to catch up with you guys!!) and I loved it. Its probably been posted loads before but that Giselle must have got all her inspiration from this boards what with the curtain dresses!!

Question for you all - has anyone used the patchwork twirl skirt on YCMT? If so, how easy would it be to scale down to a size 1? I really like the skirt but its a bit big for us at the minute.
