OK- this is a little OT, but I just want you all to know how much I look forward to coming here everyday. It just puts some happiness and warmth into my life. I feel like you're all family- and NICE family at that! No drama, no envy, just supportive good peeps. THANKS for being such wonderful, caring people! LYMI!!!! :grouphug:
Awww...I feel the same way, too! :grouphug: This is most definitely the most helpful, friendly, internet group I've ever belonged to!

So I emailed her and asked about the size of the designs. Each design fills up the hoop. Soooo, if you buy them, they will be all wonky. Each design will be 4 in wide for example. So the baby will look bigger than Peter. You cannot use all of these designs to case Heather- she is just too good to case like that :goodvibes
:lovestruc Thank you!

That is, of course, unless you change the size of the design. I think they're great designs.

These are NMA's BTW!

What's a NMA? I don't really understand what exactly she's selling since I don't have an embroidery machine? If you can resize the design, is she just selling the image on a CD? I'm unsure what you actually get for $5.

OMG! I just checked out that sellers designs and now I SO want an embroidery machine! I think DH would go for it if I could somehow figure out a way to embroider his company logo on some shirts for him. Is this something that is even possible? (it's a small startup-not worried about copyright issues) I guess I should go check out his logo, not even sure what it looks like

If you have a machine that allows you to import designs, then yes, this is possible. I have a Singer Futura CE-150. It has a USB port. It has to have a computer hooked up to it in order to work. After you get your machine, you can either choose to learn to digitize (I've not learned yet), or find a digitizer that is willing to do the work for you. I had a company logo digitized, and I think I paid $12. Then you can put the logo on anything you want!

NMA = Not My Auction (sorry)

What she is selling is the design that is in a format that the embroidery machine can read. Most of the time when you purchase a design, after the purchase you are sent a download link. Some sellers will provide a CD for an additional fee. I've found it very easy to just download.

SO, for $5, you get the design that basically does the applique for you. You will have to cut out the design, but all of the stitch work is done by the machine. It's really very, very cool!

Also just wanted to add that I have purchased several designs from this seller, and have been very happy with them. If that helps anyone trying to decide on these designs.

Thank you Shannon! This is so helpful! So this sellers designs work with your Singer Futura CE-150, are you happy with this machine? What size hoop does it use? I'm starting to get excited :jumping1:

Thank you for explaining that for me! I know if I ever got an embroidery machine (and I REALLY want one) I'd want to learn to do that. Do you need a special program? I'm actually pretty flattered that she thought this was a good enough idea to sell!

ETA: I really wanted to add "Second star to the right and straight on 'til morning" on the top part of the shirt. If I had an embroidery machine, that's what I would do!

1.)I'm sorry about that! I changed the directions a bit for positng the pictures, to make it clearer!

It's certainly not your fault... sometimes I'm too literal minded for my own good... I'll blame it on the hours I wasted in chemistry labs :rotfl: who would think on a board about sewing, people would *actually* want to see what fabric was used in a project..... :upsidedow thanks for changing it! :flower3:

I am very happy with my machine! the largest hoop is called a 5x7, but it isn't a true 5x7. All 5x7 designs will fit, though. You just have to decrease them slightly.

I know that you can get larger hoops, but this was the most machine for the money that I found when I was researching.

ALSO, I highly recommend www.singertexas.com I ordered through her. She had a great special at the time (not sure if she is now). I had the machine very, very quickly. She was great to work with.

You do need a special program to digitize. The programs are a little pricey, but I'm sure would pay for itself quickly. I really want to learn to digitize, but honestly, I haven't had the time lately to do it. As soon as I have a little bit of time to invest into learning this skill, I'm going for it!

ALSO, great minds think alike! That's exactly what I want to do if I decide to purchase these designs. (like who am I kidding? I know I'll end up with them as much as I keep talking about it! :rotfl: )

Both of the Singer Futura machines are on sale at JoAnn's. They were advertised in the flyer I got yesterday. I really want one. (My birthday is next month so I hopeful to get one in June or July)

I lost the quote, but Steph, i LOVE the dress you made!

Could you post a tutorial?? Please?? :rolleyes1

Ha! I kind of used the tutorial here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=170402.0

But then it involved math and stuff so I used the top of the jumper and cut the straps out of the sleeves using this: http://www.youcanmakethis.com/info/whats-new/Simply-Sweet-Tops-and-Dresses.htm

And then I used this for the bottom part of the dress: http://www.youcanmakethis.com/info/featured-products/Sew-Boutique-4-Dolly-A-Line-Dresses-Tops.htm

It was a true frankenpattern! If you are good with math and stuff, try the first link: it's an excellent tutorial.

The dress is adorable. That fabric looks better as a dress than a shirt.

Thank you!

I bet there are people who could digitize the logo for you or at least let you know if it's possible.

I really would like an embroidery machine, too, but mostly for the ability to do words. I don't mind appliqueing a few letters but avoid doing too many. I love some of the sets I see on :wizard: with text from stories that go along with the appliqued design.

Yes, that's the only reason I would want one too. I think those personalized/monogrammed additions are awesome.

Just wanted to clarify that I LOVE this seller on ebay. I have gotten tons from her and they are all great. In fact, it is the person that I said that I loved several pages ago.

I don't have a way to resize for my machine (I don't think), so I would have to use them "as is". Well, at least, I don't know enough about it to resize. I was honestly planning on buying these designs to case Heather (because I am no where near good enough to do it without the machine). I didn't buy them because they are all the same size, and not proportional.

I have the Disney brother machine and while I love it, I wish that I had something bigger/better- at least the 5x7 hoop.

I'm not familiar with your machine - does it have a USB port? How do you import designs?

The reason I ask - have you considered using Sew What Pro! It allows you to resize, and it's much less expensive than other programs (I think it's about $60?) Anyway, thought I'd mention it to see if it may help you out.

Another option - have you considered askig the seller (or someone that has a program) to resize them for you?

I just can't keep up with this thread and real life. The work I have seen is amazing.

Steph - love the reconstructed shirt - dress.

Lisa - those shoes are great.

All the baby pics are so cute.

I took on a challenge this week and sewed something for myself (this is a first for me plus I just started sewing in August 2007 because of the original Disboutique thread). I was very askeered but made it through - darts, pleats and zippers oh my. I had never done any of these features before and they were a little challenging at first.

It actually fits. And I only had to rip out part of one seam when I was sewing in the zipper. I only made the top with $2.00/yard fabric because I did not want to waste worthwhile fabric if the project did not work out well.

And just because we are sharing baby pictures:
Lauren at 5.5 months (this was our Christmas card picture that year)

.

Another question about those embroidery design...I can buy the PED-BASIC for my machine so I can download those design for my Brother machine, and my machine has an embroidery frame that can embroider up to an area of 11"x5"...so does that mean that I can enlarge the design to that size, or will I be limited to the smaller size?

All this talk about embroidery machine has my whels turning!! Do you use your embroidery machines primaraly for that or do you sew with it too?

I don't know for sure. I know that you can enlarge to a point without compromising the design. Wish I could be more help.

Mine does not have a USB port. I have to put the images on a card and then insert that into my computer. I have "the Ultimate Box" and have a free trial of embird that should be expiring any day now. . .

:scared1: Ugh...I just had a whole LONG quote going and somehow lost it. I have no idea what I did. Anyway.....I love all the new things.

Heather...cool that you are being Case'd.

Teresa ...thanks for the dog party pics...!!! They look like they were having fun!!

Girl on bike with Tink outfit - loved that outfit and your little one is a doll.

Zoe- love her baby pic...so cute!!

I know I am missing a TON .....sorry!!! :flower3:
