We have a doll a lot like that, Arminda named her "Happy Baby" I'm sorry that happened. :(
One super cool thing I was able to do while living in Florida was going to the ginormous Titanic exhibition dealie after one of our trips to WDW!!!! Not sure if it's still there or not but it was AMAZING! They had all kinds of actual artifacts from the ship, rooms decorated just like the ship (even the staircase!) and actual actors walking around that you could ask questions and talk to...it was soooooo COOL!!!!

:scared1:
I would love to go to that exhibit! When Corey was in Kindergarten, we went to the travelling Titanic exhibit in Tampa. Unfortunately, he developed chickenpox that day too.....

I just wanted to prove that I actually have been sewing...I made this with Carla's pattern..**Thanks Carla**

There use to be a lady that posted here with the same username as yours! ;)

This is a fantastic outfit! So very pretty!

I hope you're talking about dolls? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Too funny Deann!!!

And, I wanted to tell you that Lydia LOOOOVED the note from Ariel!!! She was so excited!!! She had me print the note out! Thank you!

Okay, here's where I am at. This is the top. I will also do a pair of shorts in Mickey fabric with yellow ruffle attached to the edge.

SO- Do I cut a Mickey head out of yellow fabric and place on bodice front? (would be my first applique) OR do I leave Mickey head off so fabric design isnt blocked?
The scrap is to represent the Mickey Head- which I have not cut out until I have ya'll's opinion.

With Mickey Head
I like the Mickey head.

Talking of Baby Dolls ......... this is our dear sweet Betty when she was born. I got her in Disney when Kirsta was born, and hung on to her until Kirsta was 2. She absolutely no interest in her until about a year later.

Betty goes everywhere and does everything with us. A couple of years ago, she ran away in WDW. But Kirsta was confident that the police would find her!! Luckily we got her back.

Last year, DearBetty was losing her arm. Her body was only muslin. So I thought when Kirsta wasn't looking, I'd fix it. I asked for weeks if I could send her to the Doll Dr. without any luck. I had Dear Betty's body parts in the sink, whille I made a new body for her. Wouldn't you know it, Kirsta comes and marches right over to the sink. :scared1: Talk about a tramatic experince!! I got Betty done in record time. It wasn't easy with Kirsta up under my arm asking me when I'd be done.

This is the only current picture I have of Betty. She sports the dreadlock look. I guess Betty is 5yo now!

47b7ce34b3127ccebe2afb6369b400000026100AaOXDhu1ZNmIg

Betty is only 14". I have to get the 18" doll patterns and shrink them on the copy machine. Most current patterns for a 14' doll are too babyish. Betty is an older girl. :lmao:

I had bought the Disney, american girl type doll, for Kirsta with many outfits. But Kirsta just doesn't care for her much. Betty is the favorite.

Aww, Betty looks really cute!! That's a very funny story about the sink!

I'd like to know what possessed her to go to the sink and look inside? :confused3 I thought I found the perfect hiding place while I made Betty her new body. I keep asking if I can send her to the Dr. to get a new hair do. But Kirsta says no. :lmao: (I ususally have to use soft scrub to get her clean!).

Of course, I got to thinking. I haven't sewn anything since September and maybe I should practice first. So, I found a pair of cute sheets I think I will make an outfit out of first. I don't want to ruin any of this pretty material!
how cute i love your fabric and patterns .. can't wait to see what you make.

Here's Lily's latest.

OME ! Lily is so cute and that outfit is adorable ..

So here is what I got in my mail yesterday

th_IMG_0029_edited.jpg
i love that fabric, i need the one they have a@hobby lobby but some lil' kiddo was walking around with it last time i was there and they were closing. i did not think it would have been a good idea to rip it outta of his hands (not that i would):confused3

I have the Rose doll. She is on my computer desk. How sad about your dress getting lost!
QUOTE]

Which Rose doll do you have? I have one too! It's the black and red dress she wears when she almost jumps....I also have a Captain Smith doll---I got it at Target during all the Titanic Craze..wish I would've gotten the rest of the crew! DANG!
My Rose is still in the box, but prominently displayed with the rest of my Titanic memorabilia...sooo proud!:woohoo:

SOOO sad about my dress! I made the blue and pink one she wears for the end of the movie...it was purty, I must say! Seli was 4 at the time and I made her a little red & black one...SO cute! I won some award for a Halloween costume contest, had the wig and everything! good times!

I am so mad right now I cant even see straight!!!
I went out to run some errands and pop into Joanns to check out patterns and see if any new Disney came in...nope, even less than last week- but I did buy some fabric for making pjs and some patterns and othe goodies. Okay cool.
Time to go home
I get home, I keep my dogs in my bedroom, its where their dog beds are. And I have "experimented on a few short forays out with putting Kayla the foster in with them instead of in her crate- shes been great so far. Well NOT today!!!
Megan was in there with me while I was getting ready and had that babydoll with her. She left the doll in the room...the dolls clothes were ripped from her body, hands and feet eaten. I'd take a picture, but it's like trying to photograph a crime sceen- I just cant do it. I picked up her fingers and stuff and put her in the trash to have my toddler look and me and say "BeeBee?" and then bring me one of her shoes. I could just cry. Kayla is here for at least another 3 weeks. I think after that, as much as I love fostering Im gonna take a break. Or take dogs over the age of 5, who wont chew wires on phones, laptops, dolls, wooden blocks, etc.
THe good thing is I dont think that doll was expensive.
she sort of looked like this

I'm looking for a Mickey Wilton pan for dd1's party. My MIL said she'd do the startipping for me. If I can't find one, then I'm going to use 3 circle pans (2 small, one large) and make a Mickey head shaped cake. If I go that way, I'll probably try teh marchmallow fondant someone here posted & make it red with white polka dots.

This is dd1's current favorite doll.

2008_04010014.jpg

It's a Dollar Tree baby that her big sister got her for Christmas. She carries it around everywhere. For Easter I got her some clothes for it & the aunt got her another doll just like it so now we have baby twins.

Both my girls have baby dolls that can wear their newborn clothes. DD4's is an 18in. Corolle & dd1's is a 20in Berenguer. DD4 plays with hers quite a bit now, but the Berenguer is still a bit too big for my baby to carry around.

I found a pic of the 2 bigger dolls. The smaller one is dd4's, the bigger is dd1's.

That is funny that your DD likes the dollar store baby. When Jenna was a baby she had a monkey that I paid all of $.50 for and she still has it. She used to carry it around with her all of the time. She couldn't go to sleep at night without it.

I think I'm going to attempt a peasant top or dress. I've never done sleeves bofore. I'll use the YCMT pattern. Any suggestions/recommendations before I begin? Fabric choices? Can you tell I'm a bit nervous?

It's chocolate cake iced with oodles of buttercream icing, I think I gained 45 lbs just from licking the beaters!!!

Impressive!

Here's Lily's latest. I CASEd the pants from sugarbees. I was to cheap to buy an iron on skull applique so I made one. I used felt for the skull. We saw some very expensive baby t's at a boutique appliqued with felt. I used heat 'n' bond and just stitched it on. It was SO EASY! Now we'll just see how it holds up in the wash. I used a felt square because it is my first try but I think I will buy some felt off the bolt. And I sorta feel like the "bow on a skull" is bizarre, but I wanted to add some red in there somewhere. I guess it is better than blood :rotfl: Lily loves it and is very into being a pirate!

I love it! I think the bow adds the right touch! I did a skull and crossbones for Halloween for my daughters on a shirt and added a bow too!

Thanks everyone for the kind words..it really means a lot to me! We were back at the pediatrician's yesterday, and he said it looks better than it did on Thursday and we will do a follow up in couple weeks and take it from there. Hopefully, it is all good from here on and we won't have to see an ENT. She woke up this morning and said that her ear doesn't hurt anymore!

I am going to do some sewing today, and try and catch on this board! Wow..31 pages!!

We have had the same problem with my DD 2 1/2. Since January she has had 3 ear infections but up until this point had only had one. I also breastfed for a year. She has never complained about her ear hurting but she runs 103-105 fevers so we take her to the doctor. Of course we've run the course of 3 different antibiotics and one decongestant. I took her to the pediatrician about 2 weeks ago because two of the times she has spiked her fevers and ended up with the ear infections have been after hours and so we took her to a place called Acute Kids (a pediatric urgent care open from 5pm - 12am M-F and open all weekend) that is a life saver in these cases. I felt like since she hadn't seen her pediatrician the last two times she might need to take a look and see what she thought was going on. She did have fluid in her ears still but it was clear, so no infection. She also said that the fluid can last up to 2 months after the infection. We had had her on zyrtec but she switched her to Singulair (of course a week later they come out saying there is an elevated risk of suicide/depression for teenagers and adults! but since she is only two I think we ought to be okay:) ). The Singulair has helped clear up her constant runny nose so I have high hopes that this might be the end of it. We are going back to the doctor in two weeks to have her check on her ears again though. Also, she has always been a talker (complete sentences since 10 months) but has recently developed a stutter. It is driving her nuts. When she starts to stutter she covers her mouth and if she gets really frustrated she says, "I can't say it!" The pediatrician said that it is probably a developmental thing and to watch it for 6 months. It hasn't stopped her from talking at all I just feel bad that she is so frustrated. If it does seem to quiet her up I will seek out a referral to a speech therapist, but does anyone else know anything about this? Do you think it could be related to the repeated ear infections? They will check her hearing in two weeks to make sure but I just feel so bad for her!

Hi - I work in a children's hospital, and very closely with speech therapists. 2 1/2 year olds are famous for stuttering - its very developmental at this age because their world has just opened up and their vocabulary has grown tremendously - speaking is one of the finest of fine motor skills that we develop so the lips, tongue, jaw have trouble staying coordinated when the words come so quickly!!! Just be patient and encourage/allow her to take her time - I hear them say "use your turtle talk" with some of the older children who stutter - maybe that would work?????

My 5yo niece just had to get a 2nd set of tubes. She had them at 1 1/2 and they fell out about a year later - she went ear infection free until last summer - then she had a few. But, when I was spending a weekend with them in January ( our hubbies were away ) we started noticing things like she thought the phone didnt work when she held it up to her left year - and she thought my ipod earphone didnt work in the left ear - and she wouldnt always respond if you spoke quietly - and she said WHAT? constantly - so, after a hearing test by an audiologist confirmed hearing loss and a trip to the ENT we discovered that the fluid in her ears, all though not infected, was very viscous and the poor girl couldnt hear through all that gook!!!! So, a new set of tubes and the world is beautiful again!! She hears everything now and feels GREAT!!!!!!:yay:

It is so bad here. I have tried making friends at my kids school, that's where so many of my old friends came from, but I really feel like an outsider!:headache: But then I have noticed that from the field trips, not many parents go. I was the ONLY parent on the Kindergarten trip to the pumkin farm. Now come on, that's a fun trip! What is bad, is we only moved 2 hours from where we were. Not easy to get together with my old friends except every now and then. So here I am, with my 4YO and desperate for friends! Caring for my FIL requires me to be home a lot, but now and then, when a nurse comes to bathe him, I can get out, but I have nobody to hang out with. Now and then, my Dad's job brings him to town...just not really the same as a girl friend! That's enough...SORRY!:sad2:

We have moved 4 times in 9 (almost 10) years of marriage. The first two times were only for a year in each place, the second time we were there for four years and we are going on 4 here in Dallas. In the third and fourth move we actually felt like we had friends after a year, but both times our year anniversary move date was in the summer. I don't know if it took us that long to make friends or if it was because we were outside more and able to meet people. We would walk and stop and talk to people as we saw them. I will say that we have been blessed with our moves since we now have feel like we have friends everywhere! My DH and I also really had to become very close best friends for our first two moves since we had no one else to talk to! Moving is hard, especially if you had been somewhere your whole life. Don't worry though, it will get better. Just try and stay active and you'll meet people. We met friends through our neighborhood, kids gymnastics (I actually did gymnastics just so I would meet someone since DD was only 15 months!), work, etc.

I just wanted to prove that I actually have been sewing...I made this with Carla's pattern..**Thanks Carla**

Thanks so much for responding! She has always been a talker and is so smart that sometimes I feel like her little brain just gets going faster than her lips can move! We are being patient with her and looking at her when she speaks so she knows she has our attention and that we will not make her rush. My DH is having some problems with this though and I have called him on it a few times so he is trying to pay better attention to her. I think he has "selective" hearing difficulties like so many other DH's I know:rotfl2: !

I haven't really noticed her having any problems with hearing things (she does ignore me but I'm pretty sure it's by choice!) but they are going to check her hearing when we go back to make sure that isn't the problem. The stuttering has only been going on for about a month now so she saw the pediatrician after about 2 weeks of it. I know it's probably a developmental thing and hopefully she will outgrow it without any problems I just hate it that she is so frustrated by it!
