I am so mad right now I cant even see straight!!!
I went out to run some errands and pop into Joanns to check out patterns and see if any new Disney came in...nope, even less than last week- but I did buy some fabric for making pjs and some patterns and othe goodies. Okay cool.
Time to go home
I get home, I keep my dogs in my bedroom, its where their dog beds are. And I have "experimented on a few short forays out with putting Kayla the foster in with them instead of in her crate- shes been great so far. Well NOT today!!!
Megan was in there with me while I was getting ready and had that babydoll with her. She left the doll in the room...the dolls clothes were ripped from her body, hands and feet eaten. I'd take a picture, but it's like trying to photograph a crime sceen- I just cant do it. I picked up her fingers and stuff and put her in the trash to have my toddler look and me and say "BeeBee?" and then bring me one of her shoes. I could just cry. Kayla is here for at least another 3 weeks. I think after that, as much as I love fostering Im gonna take a break. Or take dogs over the age of 5, who wont chew wires on phones, laptops, dolls, wooden blocks, etc.
THe good thing is I dont think that doll was expensive.
she sort of looked like this

I was referring to a "tryst" my cousin had with several of the owners of the Viking company (I believe they were some of the owners). She gave us WAAAY to much information about a business trip she took once...

OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH!!! Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's not how tight she is, at least I hope not...and I'm not asking!!!!:lmao:

Camelotcat...

I bow to a seriously superior fabric stash! *LOL*

When my family complains about my fabric stash, i can show them yours! :)

I'm just excited that somebody in this place will talk to me!:woohoo: We moved from here about 5 months ago and nobody is really welcomed us to the area except her. She is great! I take care of my FIL and from time to time I have to call the ambulance and she ALWAYS runs over to get the kids. And she really has taken me in with the sewing stuff. I had just sewed a few things before coming here and she has given me a ton of help!:goodvibes

I hear ya! I moved here (Fairfield County) due to a job relocation and I used to live down near Greenwich (Gren-ich) people dont even make eye contact. Now that we are in Brookfield its getting better. I wish I lived near you!! I would love a stay at home Mom friend who sews!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is so bad here. I have tried making friends at my kids school, that's where so many of my old friends came from, but I really feel like an outsider!:headache: But then I have noticed that from the field trips, not many parents go. I was the ONLY parent on the Kindergarten trip to the pumkin farm. Now come on, that's a fun trip! What is bad, is we only moved 2 hours from where we were. Not easy to get together with my old friends except every now and then. So here I am, with my 4YO and desperate for friends! Caring for my FIL requires me to be home a lot, but now and then, when a nurse comes to bathe him, I can get out, but I have nobody to hang out with. Now and then, my Dad's job brings him to town...just not really the same as a girl friend! That's enough...SORRY!:sad2:

I hate that! It was just thinking the other day that I've decided it takes me 3 years to start to feel "at home" in a new neighborhood. One place we lived I met a lot of people walking the dog/kids on nice days. You have lots of girlfriends here though! And we don't care if you are in your pj's and haven't brushed your teeth or hair yet, or if it's 2am and you just need to vent, or if you had "bangs to heaven" in the 80's :rolleyes1 :rotfl: ...

Yep, kinda noticed they were pricey, but I figure if the husband could go out and buy that nice new riding mower...I can buy a nice new machine!:rolleyes1
My neighbor mentioned about the used machines, do you think that would be okay to start with? I mean, the machine I am used to only does a straight stitch, so maybe it would be good for me to start with the basics?:confused3

Have to agree with Camelotcat on the automatic buttonholer. If you're going to sew many customs, buttonholes will become a necessity sooner or later!

Beyond that, straight, zigzag, blind hem, and a couple of stretch stitches are a minimum for machine longevity. You want the machine to have a at least a few more features than you presently use so you can "grow into" it. :)

Embroidery and cute stitches are nice, but not essential at this point.

Oh no!!! I feel your pain. I find chewed up body parts all over the apartment all the time. I'm sure that poor BeeBee has her angel wings and is watching ya'll from above.

Say it ain't so!!! :scared1:

Here's Lily's latest. I CASEd the pants from sugarbees. I was to cheap to buy an iron on skull applique so I made one. I used felt for the skull. We saw some very expensive baby t's at a boutique appliqued with felt. I used heat 'n' bond and just stitched it on. It was SO EASY! Now we'll just see how it holds up in the wash. I used a felt square because it is my first try but I think I will buy some felt off the bolt. And I sorta feel like the "bow on a skull" is bizarre, but I wanted to add some red in there somewhere. I guess it is better than blood :rotfl: Lily loves it and is very into being a pirate!

Loooooooove this! Haha if you knew me, you'd know this was my style.

I most certainly won't laugh! I can empathise with you completely. I probably would have gotten the tattoo if my DH wouldn't have freaked! :rotfl: Did you ever go on the countdown 2 (I think it was c2t.com)titanic messageboard, back in the day?

Sadly, no...I was a bit messageboard illiterate until jham lured me over here...embarrassing as that is to say out loud...:rotfl:

I think I saw the movie 15 or 17 times in the theater...it was a HUGE escape for my girlfriend and I...we were both having major issues in our marriages at the time (go figure...we both ended up getting divorced!) and it was nice to get away for 3 or 4 hours! In all honesty though, I've always been a HUGE Titanic history buff, and I was super reluctant to go see the movie because I was afraid it would be butchered and made all Hollywood, ya know? James Cameron did a phenomenal job and was so historically accurate while intertwining the Jack and Rose love story...
Oh wow...here I go again! :sad2:

One super cool thing I was able to do while living in Florida was going to the ginormous Titanic exhibition dealie after one of our trips to WDW!!!! Not sure if it's still there or not but it was AMAZING! They had all kinds of actual artifacts from the ship, rooms decorated just like the ship (even the staircase!) and actual actors walking around that you could ask questions and talk to...it was soooooo COOL!!!!

THREE YEARS!!! Here is the problem that really hinders the entire process...I lived in the last place my entire life! I have tried to fit in with this place and not use that as an excuse, but maybe I am the problem...EEEEERRRRRR!!!:headache: But if you say three years....I better hunker down and learn to deal with it!:bored:

I like it!

I've done several felt appliques before with the squares of felt. They do start to pill after a few washings, but that's the only problem I've ever had. Felt off the bolt probably wouldn't do that, but I have trouble finding the right colors that way. I didn't even use heat 'n bond on them. I just sorta held it on as I sewed (straight stitch, not zig-zag).

I just wanted to prove that I actually have been sewing...I made this with Carla's pattern..**Thanks Carla**

The two up close pictures of the Disney Logo and the ships wheel are the appliques on the pants. This set was fun to make...now if only I knew someone going on a cruise...:rolleyes1
gosh how I wish it was me..:sad1:

I love that top matrial. Is it new? I have never seen it before. I just bought that same dalmation print fabric yesterday. Jenna talked me into it. I think that I am going to put an applique of a puppy on it and use the Simply Sweet dress by CarlaC. What do you have planned for it?

The top material I stole from my mom. It is flannel so I am doing a winter top with it. The doggy material I want to do that dalmation dress I saw on here. If I can just find it!

Oh my!!! I am not fond of 'puppy days'!! I hope your day gets better!

Ireland looks so grown up!!!! That outfit is very cute for a cruise.

So here is what I got in my mail yesterday from :wizard: I had never seen it before and I NEEDED it for my Disney I spy quilt. :rotfl: I got a little over 2 yards for $10.99, so not too bad. It's kinda creepy though. They have those orphan annie eyes--I want to get out my fabric marker and fix them! The boys will probably get pjs with the rest of it.

They have this material at my local HL on clearance. I think it is $3 a yard. Maybe. I wanted to make something for my older dd but she said NO.
