Okay, here's where I am at. This is the top. I will also do a pair of shorts in Mickey fabric with yellow ruffle attached to the edge.

SO- Do I cut a Mickey head out of yellow fabric and place on bodice front? (would be my first applique) OR do I leave Mickey head off so fabric design isnt blocked?
The scrap is to represent the Mickey Head- which I have not cut out until I have ya'll's opinion.

gosh how I wish it was me..:sad1:

I love this! I think I've mentioned before that I love nautical themes, but this is over the top adorable!!! Love it!

This is my favorite pose- beautiful, simply beautiful. Do you do items for others for sale or just your own girls?
This is absolutely amazing! I look forward to the days when I am that creative and talented (they'll come in my future right?)
Just gorgeous!

I vote no Mickey. Great choice of fabrics. Very cute together.

Elisa - Ireland looks beautiful, and very grown up! I wish you had done ths set a couple months ago!! I would have scooped it up in a heartbeat for our cruise!!

and, not to get side tracked- as I do really need opions on said outfit above, but wanted to share my "sewing space" i did not inclue photos of dining room table- but thats where I cut when needed and ironing board is in hallway. My DH never says a peep about it when I pull it out!
stash (significant difference to Camelot's)

projects for the near future

Ok which one ya'll did it? I just got back from Hancock's and all of the Minnie Dot fabric is gone. :scared1: I was the first one to get some off of the bolt and now today it is all gone. I do have all of the numbers if anybody wants them. I have never seen fabric go that quickly.

Boy, I've got a lot to catch up on today! I'm still a buncho pages back!

SAB is Storm Along Bay - the sand bottom pool at the Beach Club. The 1st time I ever went it in was right after I did the WDW half marathon in'05- it was HEAVEN to my aching feet!! It's a great pool! Dare I say the best on site pool in all of WDW???

Sounds great to me!!!

I finished the Lucky applique this weekend, now I just need to finish the twirly skirt to match it.

Okay- so the results are in for our final weigh-in.

Who's curious what the results were?

1st- My husband 28lbs loss 14.14%-wins a free 1 year gym membership
2nd I tied another woman at 9.6% I lost 18lbs, she lost 14.5lbs

Because my team won (which included my husband) both DH and I win $50 Amex gift card.

Just finished cutting out my first Disney outfit for DD. With Mickeys on it- first time I have used fabric with pictures on it.
So do I attempt an appliqued Mickey head or just leave the fabric as is?

I have Heat n bond lite- do I need stablizer too? IF I do the applique I would do it on fabric prior to sewing bodice lining on (which comes very early in the directions.
Do you need photos to help decide?

WOO HOO!!! :yay: :yay: :yay: GREAT JOB!!!!!!

Ok guys I need some help. Jenna and I can not decide what to make with our prized Minnie Dot fabric. She will be wearing the Minnie Dot outfit to Chef Mickey's. We need help deciding between the three following outfits.
3-28-08minniedotdress.jpg

This one is Jen's favorite. I can't remember which one but this is by either Teresa or Heather.

The decision is now in the hands of the lovely DisBoutiquers.

Well, I'm going to have to vote number 3 (did you doubt it?)! That Mickey head is too cool! :thumbsup2

WOW! For an invisible woman :rolleyes1 you sure do great work and that is the most gorgeous picture of Ireland I've ever seen!!! LOVE her hair like that!

I made a Titanic "Rose chooses life" (red/black dress) for my trip last September, lots of fun to wear after all the hours of beading and handwork-

Keep up the stitching-it will make WONDERFUL memories for your children and YES they will remember how much they loved it!:yay:

When I get all caught up here today, I expect to be looking at a picture of this dress!! Titanic is one of my all time favorite movies! (that and Napoleon Dynamite!)

It went wonderfully!

By "Memorable Day" do you mean uber extended family teen drama including tears? Then yes it was very memorable. My 19 yr. old niece (who has wayyy too many funky body part piercings) darling Boy friend is in jail (again) and was in the middle of some personal drama that was really hard for me to keep a straight face while listening to. Now, my other niece, age 16, who every month thinks she's pregnant, wore shorts so short (she's at least 230 lbs if she's an ounce) that I told her "Her foof was hanging out" Except I used the "V" word. She just laughed but I was dead serious. My other nephew, foof girl's brother, brags about the porn he downloads on his phone....his parents don't care.

He's 13. I told him he's making the Baby Jesus cry....

Oh! I was missing a $20 out of my wallet I noticed after they all left.

Wow, sounds like you are related to my Dad's side of the family, and a few of Brian's! It does make for some interesting stories though, doesn't it! I think most all of my Dad's side of the family has been in jail at one time or the other, and some should STILL be there if I had my say!

Ummmmmmm. YEAH!!! I think that all qualifies as Memorable!! :rotfl2:

When I see the kids I know wearing the low rider jeans- you know.... the ones that show a little bum crack out when they dare to bend over 6 inches, I just look at them, get a big smile on my face and tell them "Just say no to crack!" They just about die laughing.... and then go and change, never to approach me with wearing that stuff again! Sometimes MAMA, you just gotta have a sense of humor about this stuff- ya know????:rotfl:

There was a little (well, she wasn't all that little, around 9 or 10)ere having a party so she was sitting on the floor. Her ENTIRE behind was hanging out for all the world to see! So, I walked up to one of the adults that was with the party and asked if the little girl was one of theirs. They said she was, so I pointed out that her bottom was hanging out. They just sort of shrugged their shoulders, so I asked them if they could please have her pull her pants up so that we didn't have to see it. I am so sick and tired of people acting like it's ok to have your behind sticking out of their pants for all the world to see. IT'S NOT!! I understand with little kids and adults sometimes things happen, but to just leave your bottom exposed like that, I don't get it! I wold be mortified! :scared1:

But just think.....if ANYONE's DH says ANYTHING about your stash.....here's your photographic evidence that you are NOT as bad as "this lady on my internet board...."

I need to save these pictures to show Brian for just such a purpose! I wish I lived closer so I could come to your sale!

Now that is just BEAUTIFUL!
Love Ireland's curly hair! You did such a fantastic job!

I forget to tell you all that I saw build a bear sticky notes in the $1 section at michaels- they were kind of like paper dolls. There was a pad of bears, an accessory pad and a pad of outfits. thought some of your kiddos would love those!!

That sounds really cute!! I might just have to go in there and take a look!

HI everyone. I have been off the computer for a few days. Life has been busy, but whats new. Things are still the same. Hard but getting by. Still looking for a car.

I haven't even had a chance to sew. Boo for that! Off to catch up on this new thread!

It's good to see you posting! I hope you find a car soon!

Thanks for sharing all your great stuff! When I have enough posts and my sister sends me the pictures of my latest quilts, I'll have to show you guys!
I'd love to see the quilt pictures!
Yep...I have decided the world is working against me!!!!:headache: So, after my 1950's machine died, you will recall I stole my mother's...guess what, it is dead. Seems that Mom has not sewn in about 30 years. How old is her machine:hippie: ...soooo here are my options...get one of them fixed or buy a new one. My across the road neighbor (just think that sounds funny) loves to sew. She is in tight with the local viking machine dealer. She has offered to take me to see her and help me find a machine.(feel like I'm off to see the wizard) She said they will let me buy on time:banana: , so I think this may be the time for a new machine! Lord knows, I'm not hand sewing these outfits!:scared1:

So, does anyone have a viking? What are your pros and cons? Help!

Our cousin was in tight with a Viking dealer....;)
I have my Aunt's old Viking, I think it's from the mid 80s. I really love it. I have it on indefinete loan from my cousin. I think a used one should do fine for you.

How much are Vikings? I've never priced one.
This is what I made this weekend for DD's 4th birthday party:

P3300312-1.jpg

It's chocolate cake iced with oodles of buttercream icing, I think I gained 45 lbs just from licking the beaters!!!

I love this cake so much!!! It's so cute!
So, I have spent my morning washing fabric and looking my new patterns. Here are the things I bought yesterday. (although some of it was stolen from my moms stash!)
2008_0331Image0002-1.jpg
Of course, I got to thinking. I haven't sewn anything since September and maybe I should practice first. So, I found a pair of cute sheets I think I will make an outfit out of first. I don't want to ruin any of this pretty material!
I love your choices!! I've never seen this Mickey one before.

Talking of Baby Dolls ......... this is our dear sweet Betty when she was born. I got her in Disney when Kirsta was born, and hung on to her until Kirsta was 2. She absolutely no interest in her until about a year later.

47b8da20b3127cceb78079f8056a00000025110AaOXDhu1ZNmIg

Betty goes everywhere and does everything with us. A couple of years ago, she ran away in WDW. But Kirsta was confident that the police would find her!! Luckily we got her back.

Last year, DearBetty was losing her arm. Her body was only muslin. So I thought when Kirsta wasn't looking, I'd fix it. I asked for weeks if I could send her to the Doll Dr. without any luck. I had Dear Betty's body parts in the sink, whille I made a new body for her. Wouldn't you know it, Kirsta comes and marches right over to the sink. :scared1: Talk about a tramatic experince!! I got Betty done in record time. It wasn't easy with Kirsta up under my arm asking me when I'd be done.

This is the only current picture I have of Betty. She sports the dreadlock look. I guess Betty is 5yo now!

47b7ce34b3127ccebe2afb6369b400000026100AaOXDhu1ZNmIg

Betty is only 14". I have to get the 18" doll patterns and shrink them on the copy machine. Most current patterns for a 14' doll are too babyish. Betty is an older girl. :lmao:

I had bought the Disney, american girl type doll, for Kirsta with many outfits. But Kirsta just doesn't care for her much. Betty is the favorite.

Okay seriously...if Ireland gets any more gorgeous you are going to have to start carrying a baseball bat wherever you go...she is absolutely stunning! Her hair looks fabulous...I'm jealous. I wish MY hair did that.

LOVE LOVE the outfit. Love it. You are an artist my dear!!!

CHA-ching!!!

:goodvibes

Yeah I know how that goes. DH has a PS3, a Wii and an Xbox 360 that he bought within several months of each other. So when I buy fabric I just say "Well I don't have a insert console here." I end up winning those arguments. :lmao:
With Brian, it's hunting and fishing equipment!

Were you referring to us?
HolySchnauzers.jpg
VERY FUNNY!

Now...a little about me. I have been wanting to learn to sew, but promised DH I would get caught up on my scrapbooks first. So, I have my mom and MIL making outfits and costumes for the girls for our trip in Oct...many ideas came from lurking here.:lovestruc
:welcome:

I wonder if they'll make a historical 80's AG doll!!!:lmao: Leg warmers and mile high bangs!!

I was just thinking the same thing!

I bet she's not as tight with the Viking people as our cousin. :rolleyes1 Right Teresa?;)
Yep, we had the same thought, didn't we! :rotfl2:

This picture crackys me up! She's so cute!
LOVE the felt pirate!

We have several shirts that have felt type applique that hold up well. One of my friends in australia makes them as a hobby. I actually just bought 6 from her! A few are for gifts though. Her notes say to hand wash them, but I "accidentally" threw them in the wash inside out. The felt gets a little pilly, but not a big deal at all. I would say that they boys' shirts have been worn probably 8-10 times now. I don't know if I can post a link to her store to give you an idea of what I am talking about. Anybody know if I can post a link?

I've been told you can post links to websites, but not Ebay or Etsy stores.

I HAVE A HEART OF THE OCEAN TATTOO!! Do I win the freakiest Titanic fan award? OH YESSSSS...I was a major TITANIC FREAK..still am, kinda, actually! I still have an area of my home that is dedicated to my Titanic memorabilia...of course, I did finally pu the collector plates away, but, still have most of everything else out...
SADLY though, my dress was lost in the move from CA to UT...
This saddens me like you would not believe...still have the LeCoeur de la mer EXACT replica that I wear every now and then...maybe I'll pull it out for Bunko tomorrow night....
Go ahead and laugh, I am a freak....:sad2:

I have the Rose doll. She is on my computer desk. How sad about your dress getting lost!

ETA: OMG, Mia saw the Lucky applique as the thread came back up and she screamed "WAIT!" and caming running over. She said "Oh, that's Lucky. He's sooooo adorable. I wish that was my shirt. She's a lucky ::giggle:: little girl, Mom." She has no idea it's *her* Lucky shirt!!!!!

That's so sweet!
