Spongie, your DD's newest outfit is adorable. Ouch! Your Dental work sounds scary.:grouphug:

I was avoiding the boards so I could get some stuff done for our trip yesterday, but I miss you all too much. I was having withdrawls!

Thanks!! Matthew's top is a McCall's sweatshirt pattern I just left the sleeves off! I had to size it down though. This one is a size one, the next one fits better.

I just made DS a bunch of the easy fit pants. They are short pants, or long shorts. Thy eally are really easy to make. I made 3 pairs for him yesterday in probably an hour and a half.

IMG_0653.jpg

And just because it's pretty cute...He is wearig the easy fit pants though.

IMG_0667.jpg

Thanks Carla for modestifying the pattern. :lmao: :lmao:
I love your little guys pants! Very cute and they look comfortable too.

OK, I'm done hogging the board now.
These outfits are adorable. I especially love the sleeveless hoodie! Great Idea. Is that that adorable crab fabric? I want to look for that at my JoAnn's. Next week I get paid. :rolleyes1
Mainly, I have really only quilted and made costumes. I am fairly new to clothing but I am very excited! I know I can do it, it's just going to take time and patience. (And of course, trial and error!) So, may I ask you all a question taht may seem strange?

What exactly ia s serger and what can you do with it? TIA~
I don't have a serger, It isn't required. I am kind of scared I will cut my fingers with one. :scared1: Welcome to the board! Nana gave you a good explanation of what one is though.
Ok - here are the bowling shirt pics! Louie is finally getting where he will stand still and strike a pose here and there...

A girlie version with ruffled capris

The back embroidered with her digitizer mama's design

Another girlie version with Minnie Dot (her mama and papa are into muscle cars)

This is my favorite

One to add to the crab collection

The back (an adorable Kimberbell machine applique design)

The filled version of Mr. Crab (pre-sand and grass stains :sad2: )

And last but not least, my beautiful stepdaughter Emily :cutie: . She was in town for the week, so I put her to work modeling! The shirt is made from a mix of Amy Butler prints. She picked the fabrics out herself!

Thanks for looking - hope everyone isn't burned out on bowling shirts before I even get the pattern written! I'm really going to push to finish it up soon, I just have to force myself to stay off this addictive board and work!

Carla

That pattern is fabulous! I love all the shirts but I really love the pink kitty and that crab outfit and your Stepdaughter's shirt.

Okay, please finish that pattern!

I love every one of your shirts! Can't wait for the pattern!!!!!

We're going in December so I'd like to make the dresses out of cotton (Its usually around 60 in Florida then right?)
Weather can be anything in December. I've been with it in the high 80's and I've been with highs in the 50's/lows in the 30's. Good luck with your princess dresses!

And since we all love the Mouse, I wanted to post a few pics of Saylor in her Mouse outfit....
th_etsyminnie004-1.jpg
Such a cute outfit and model!

I am finally getting around to posting the photos for the question I raised yesterday regarding the right size for the Simply Sweet pattern:

First, is the halter bodice. I made a size 6. The elastic in the back was too long, so I shortened it.

th_DSC_0147.jpg

th_DSC_0148.jpg

I'm wondering if a size 5 with the wider bodice would be better.

Here is the jumper bodice in a size 6. This one ended up being too big all over, so I definitely think I need to make a size 5 in this one.

th_DSC_0155.jpg

th_DSC_0160.jpg

My daughter is thin, so I added ties at the waist, but it is still way too big.

Thanks everyone for posting your photos of this pattern. It helps me get a better idea of how it should fit.
Love the Cars halter top! I found the size 6 was a bit too big on my DD in the jumper style too (the size 6 A-line is a perfect fit). I was able to tack the straps a bit in the back and it looks OK now. I'm thinking it will still fit her next year. If I make it again for that DD I will use a size 5.

ok, everyone I started my trip report!!! Day 1 so far up!!!

Lori
Great start!

This thread has inspired me to make my girls' disney princess dresses for this year. (I sew dollclothes normally, and it takes me forever...so I better get started soon if I'm going to sew for them...that could take longer) We're going in December so I'd like to make the dresses out of cotton (Its usually around 60 in Florida then right?)
My next project will also be a Princess dress for my next doll...either Jasmine or Ariel....depending on which wig I get for her. Dillui
Now I do have a question...hopefully someone can answer it for me. My oldest wants to go as Aurora....there are two patterns available from Simplicity for her..What is more complicated about the second one (I'm wondering in particular about the darts in the bodice...me and diamond shaped darts do not get along)

Welcome!

Part 3 of this thread inspired me, as well. Just need more time to actually do the sewing! *LOL*

HI EVERYONE!!!!
Whew! I have been away for WAY TOO LONG! Why does life have to get in the way of everything FUN? YEESH! Well, not really, but, sometimes that's how it feels!
I can't wait to try and get caught up, I just wanted to check in really quick and say HI! HI!
I'm sure jham has mentioned our boutique we're working our tushies off for next week....eeek! We've been talking about it for months and it's actually here and I'm SURE not ready! ACK!:scared1:
Anyway! I've seen some dang cute outfits and gotten some great inspiration (as usual) and I can't wait to see more!

OH OH OH! One thing...I am a HUGE Napoleon Dynamite fan! Okay, not quite Titanic, but, let's hope I don't ever obsess over anything like that again! I've been watching Napoleon while I sew the past couple of weeks! I was  because even though I wasn't here with my posts, I was here in spirit!!!! GOSH!

Saylor is adorable--and so is the outfit! :)

Nice! Agree a size smaller probably will fit a little better, particularly in the jumper pattern.

Your daughter's expression in that one photo is priceless: "Mom, do I really have to pose? Again?" *LOL*

LOVE LOVE LOVE those dresses! That fabric combination is breathtaking! I know they're a bit big, but GOOD JOB! I love that pattern! I just made Saylor the halter style dress, and I made it too big as well...ack! Oh well...luckily we can modify, right?

Aimee, thanks got the heads up about Giselle. We are watching that movie a lot these days. Hopefully they'll get meet and greets going with her soon. I love the yellow Giselle dress.

We got fun mail today, Delaney's provincial Belle outfit came today, she's in love with it already, I couldn't wait to see her in it. I even managed to find my camera and get my all-in-one printer to cooperate (wonders never cease :faint: ) and to top it all off photobucket was actually working too...

And I have no idea why one picture is larger than the other but okay, at least I got them to work without too much trouble.

Delaney and I are going to head off to the Disney Store, since DH is away we're trying to do a lot of work around the house and still manage to get in some fun girl time together.

We were waiting to go until we got the mail and until we heard from my mom that my dad was doing okay after surgery this morning. He's home and sleeping and doing fine. It was relatively minor surgery, he had his gall bladder removed today, it was done in less than an hour.

We're off to the store and then hopefully I'll get some sewing done tonight. I just got Carla's Easy Fit Pants today. I'll probably get the capri's next week.

I've been able to make some progress in the house so I won't feel so bad about sewing.

OK, I'm done hogging the board now.

SOOO LOVE all these adorable outfits you posted! SOO CUTE! I love brown and blue together! And your little guys outfit is beyond handsome! SO IS HE!!!

I finished Lily's goldfish skirt. I think I like buying a top and making a skirt to match. These are the bows I ordered on :wizard: I think they are GINORMOUS but they are cute. Do you think they are too much? I can wait until her head grows into them. :rotfl:

and here's the fake crying face :sad2:

IMG_0121-1.jpg

Next to Saylor, SHE IS MY FAVORITE!!!! :cutie:

Here is a pillocase dress I finished today. I should have been able to just "whip it up" but somehow life gets in the way.

Arielpillowcasedress.jpg

I LOVE that pillowcase dress! They are my fave and that turned out adorable! Parker is such a sweetie! :lovestruc

I didn't find the halter top too small either. I made the ruffle longer because she is long-waisted but it actually hit close to her waist, much closer than store bought patterns. It does just fit her, but I think if I adjusted the elastic it would be fine if I needed it a tad bigger around.

IMG_0185.jpg

OH I LOVE IT! How cute is she? I love seeing all the different ways everyone is using the same pattern! INSPIRATION!

Okay, so I found my pic of the halter version:
DSCF2112-1.jpg

I am thinking that the tighter you make the back elastic the better it fits, but Sydni is VERY pickey about things being tight, and she will NOT wear them. I think the top maybe fine, maybe I didn't do something right? Carla what do you think?????????

Now I do have a question...hopefully someone can answer it for me. My oldest wants to go as Aurora....there are two patterns available from Simplicity for her..What is more complicated about the second one (I'm wondering in particular about the darts in the bodice...me and diamond shaped darts do not get along)

My mom made the more complicated Aurora dress for my older dd and swore she would never use that pattern again. She is a pretty accomplished sewer, she made my wedding dress and alters patterns to herself, she has longer arms, wider shoulder and a bigger bust. I don't know what she didn't like about the pattern specifically.

I made my dds princess dressed from the easier set (Belle and Snow White) for our upcoming trip and I didn't think they were too bad. The dresses look pretty nice (I think, anyway). I only sew perioidically and got them finished in about a week for both. Only a few mistakes and they were generally my fault - no fault in the pattern.

Aaahhhhhh I finally finished this! I actually had a skirt about 50% done when I put a big hole in the denim as I tried to remove some stitching (stupid hem of the other side got caught in the stitches). Since I couldn't find a plain denim skirt in the right size, I had to improvise and convert a pair of jeans. Anyway, after buying a second pair of jeans, I started over and this time the skirt remained whole. LOL This is the first time I've done the ribbon "fringe"... and I think it will be something I do again soon.

sesame_bday1.jpg

sesame_bday4.jpg

BTW - I'm SO glad Zoe's no longer in the tiny sizes like this set!!! I can't believe how much harder it was to do the applique on this (it's a 2T).

LOVE it! Can you share how you turn pants into skirts? That would be a great thing to know!

For all of you who have made the YCMT Easy Fit Pants, was is easy? Did you make the shorts version? I'm thinking of purchasing this ebook to make DS2 some shorts. I've winged a few, but they aren't great.

Thanks!

I have found that pants pattern to be amazing! It is very versatile, cute, and simple! It's the only pants pattern I use!

Hi Everyone,

I have a quick question. A lot of you use the easyfit pants. Im not really good with patterns, so what I had done before was to just take a pair of pants that fit the child well and use that as my pattern - is that really bad???? Im tempted by that pattern, but not being good at patterns I'd hate to purchase it and not use it, you know?????

Thanks!! Wendy

The bodice of Emily's top is the bodice lining from McCall's 5615. I didn't use a pattern for the skirt. I measured the width of the bodice and cut 2 skirt pieces in an aline. I added the ribbon trim at the end.

Thanks, I think I may have to try that!

Thank you sooooo much!!! I love how you have done the top of yours better than mine -- I made my waistband top too long. I am going to shorten it now b/c I like your 3 tiers better than my 2! I am making a patchwork twirl skirt for a friend and I am going to do hers like yours!!! Thanks again!
