I lost my multiquote too :(

:confused3

How cute, I love the Mulan that you are working on and I love the underdress for the peanuts outfit too :)

As a long-time lurker on this thread, I finally have something to show.
I will preface this by saying that the only thing I had made before
this skirt is a pillow in Home-Ec. So, I'm pretty pleased. Thank you
all for the wonderful inspiration and encouragement that each of
you show.

I bought the Cinderella shirt at K-mart in case anyone is interested.

Wow!! really great job for just your second project.

You know...there are some of those 13x15 padded envies that fit 12x12 pages! hahaha I know for a fact since I use to sell premade and custom scrapbook pages. The package store LOVED me. hahah

I love that! Soo cute. I have yet to get a cricut because well, I can't balance my sewing and scrappy habit either. I used to make cards for everything now I am lazy and buy the dang things. I have a whole craft room sitting with LOADS of supplies for paper crafts and knitting. oh and fabric too but that is getting used right now. hehe
Ohhh... NOW you've hit upon MY obsession. ( which at the moment is being shared with sewing, and my cake decorating business has taken a back seat. ;) )
I'll just share the last card I made for my dad's b-day tomorrow:
CARDS130.jpg

CARDS131.jpg

I have tons more, I make them to sell on a WAHM site, plus I make all my kids invitations and birth announcements and whatnot.

Ok - here it is - DD's Easter/Spring dress. I still need to do the buttons/buttonholes and hem but am waiting on DD to come home from school.

That is adorable! I really like this one!

Hi Guys. I am sorry for the drive-by, but things here are really stressful. DH works for Bear Stearns, and we still don't know whether he's going to have a job or not after the takeover. AND all of our retirement was in Bear (It's practically impossible if you work on Wall street for your stock holdings NOT to be in your company, since they give you stock as a bonus, then make it next to impossible to sell it while you still work for the company :headache: )
I am sorry you guys have to go through this right now, i hope it all turns out ok for you.

WOW! That turned out great! Impressive for your first skirt! I love the look of those patchwork twirl skirts but am afraid of them. I just might try one now! Great job!

Oh man! If some one wants to come to my house and scrapbook the last two years I will cheerfully sew for your kids LOL.

I am sooooooooooooo bad. I buy tons of scrapbook stuff, I print tons of pictures........... and they sit in a BIG box under my bed:upsidedow
Well the box is in my living room right now.

I have done 11 pages in the last 2 YEARS...... and I did them all last week....... My DD pointed out that I have a very nice book that says 2005 (and it has pictures in it :)) on it-"but Mommy, it is 2008"!

Ok, I have two excuses- 1. I sew 2. I tried to find cute adoption saying to add to the 2005 book and can't (Ok I have 3 excuses-3. I STINK at scrapbooking.......)

how about-the dog ate my scrapbook? Does it matter that we don't have a dog? LOL

:woohoo: Good job! Your skirt looks wonderful!!

Okay, here's a bigger pic of my Mulan applique (work in progress). In case you didn't see my first post, I was reprimanded for posting tiny pictures. I had already changed the size on photobucket, so when I enlarged the pic it looks a little blurry, but at least you can see it better.
I still have lots of work to do on this (satin-stitching, hair decorations, parasol handle and splines, facial features, etc.) but you can still get the basic idea. This will eventually be placed on the front of a tank top for a fellow dis'ers DD to wear with a red pettiskirt.

I think this skirt is great and you did an amazing job. Can I have a closeup of that shirt? It looks cute too

I will never catch up, but I love all the easter dresses, spring dresses, pirate and Cars stuff, white underdresses, and everything else!

How cute! I was determined that I did not need a Cricut, afterall I have a Sizzix and love the Girls Are Weird die cut font. Well, while home on maternity leave I caught an informercial for the Cricut and now I really want one. I spent the rest of the day day-dreaming of all the great projects I could "whip up" with the machine. Of course the next question is the basic or the newer one?

Luke and I love that infomercial. I think he wanted the cricut even more than I did! He is very craftsy. I splurged and got the "big" one and I am glad. I want to eventually do some vinyl lettering for the walls.

I was engaged to my "best boy" by the time I was two. (He called me his "best girl"...)Our mom's were best friends and we were born 6 months apart! We were deeply in love...he told his parents when we were four that he and I would be living in their home so mom and dad would have to move down the street.

We held hands everywhere we went, he opened car doors for me, helped me buckle my car seat and tied my shoes for me! He got VERY upset one day when he saw my sister HIT me! He told his mother to talk to my mother about it before he had to "step in"...we were about five then.

Alas...we hit 7 and everything changed. We were on the teeter totter at my house and he broke it to me that we couldn't get married. He said he couldn't marry me b/c he was going to be Magnum PI...

*sniffle*

I cried my heart out. Went in and told my sister and his older brother. They made him say he'd marry me...and he did. Reluctantly!

I would just like to point out that even though he and I did not ever marry, he DID name his first daughter for me! He DID! We have the same middle name...even though his wife doesn't know where he got it, I sure do!

The boy carries a flame!

 ;)

Love that story! :rotfl: On Jayden's 4th birthday we went camping with a bunch of family. My half-brother's wife's sister was there with her kids. She has a son, Samuel, who is Jayden's age. Well, he immediately fell in love and announced he would be marrying her and they would have 7 kids :scared1: They see each other about once a year and Jayden still claims they may get married. His family doesn't place a high value on a college education, so I tell her she can't marry him unless he graduates from college. (not that there's anything wrong if you don't, but some members of this side of the family have been known to talk the girls OUT OF an education :scared: :scared: :scared: telling them they need to drop out and work to support their husband financially so he can go to school (then he drops out and nobody finishes, but that's another story). It skeers me.

You know...there are some of those 13x15 padded envies that fit 12x12 pages! hahaha I know for a fact since I use to sell premade and custom scrapbook pages. The package store LOVED me. hahah

Good to know about the envelopes! I LOVE scrapbooking but I am SO far behind! I think I mentioned before I am still working on the 2002 winter olympics in SLC. I usually only focus on one thing at a time also. I just don't want to clean up the sewing mess and get out the scrapbooking stuff and vice versa.

Oh how cute is that!

Georgia has one of these boys...

They are totally alike its crazy. They are both High Functioning Autistic, they both have the same obsessions Elvis, and Disneyland! They have the same color hair same color eyes, same height, They have the same spinning speed. (hahaha I Know sounds funny, but when they spin on the black top or around the poles they do it at the exact same time and the exact same speed)

Anyway, Dean's mom told me today, that yesterday Dean's aide was watching the two of them play at recess and they were holding hands skipping. When she asked how they were doing Georgia replied Dean was her Prince and they were going to take their Elvis dolls (yes, they even have the same Elvis dolls) to Disneyland and ride on the rides off into the sunset. Bwahahahaha isn't that just the sweetest thing?!

Dean's mom and I joke about how we are going to have Spectrum grandbabies and we should just start having family trips to Disney together now.

cute! I love the Elvis connection!

I have tons more, I make them to sell on a WAHM site, plus I make all my kids invitations and birth announcements and whatnot.

I used to make cards too :sad2: I even sold Stampin' Up once upon a time for about 5 minutes (I was my best customer). Sewing is why I've had my cricut for several weeks and only now made my first project!

Ok my sewing buddies. I have a very newbie question here. I belong to a Creative Sew Club where I bought my machine from (the classes are free because I bought the machine there but of course you pay for your supplies) anyway, we are making a quilt organizer. First of all they said in the "getting to know your machine" classes that these projects were good for beginners (not me I know nothing). I had some help yesterday reading the pattern, :confused3: we have some stuff to do before tonight for the class so last night I cut all my pieces out, fabric, shirt tailor, fleece. I had a problem last night ironing on my shirt tailor but called today to find out that you don't have to use a damp cloth (I should have come here last night) so I did that, then I sprayed adhered my fleece. Now I have to do a cross hatching decorative stitching to the top piece and then I have to cut out those two pieces for tonight from the pattern which kind of looks like a U. I hope I not losing anybody here. This is my question: how do you cut out from the pattern piece (it's paper). Do you pin it on the fabric and cut with scissors? The edges where there is a straight edge is not exactly straight, but that does not bother me because we are sewing on a binder tonight so that will be fixed. My problem is the actual cutting I'm :scared1: . Please help. This is my FIRST project and I will post a picture when it's done tonight but I'm so scared I'll screw it up and the class is tonight and I have no time to redo it so I want your opinion on how you cut the pattern out using the template. Thank you so much. Don't laugh at this post.

you can do it. the first project you do is the ahrdest - don't give up you can do it. just remember measure twice cut once.

Welcome to the thread! Lots of help here and I warn you sewing can be addicting!!!!!

Here you go. Not the best picture. The little detail dots
are like shiny, plasticy, little nub things. Not sure how
to describe them. I can take another picture tonight if you
want. Just let me know.

Thanks for all the sweet coments on Emma's dress. I snapped a pic this morning before she went off to school. This is their last day before Easter break and they will have an Easter Chapel so I let her wear it. I must have had the wrong setting on the camera in my rush to snap a pic because it is really grainy! No pics of Noah - he has a handsome Easter outfit too but be is home sick for the third day.

Laura

Ok, you're doing fine.

Another step, if your pattern is at all folded or bent is to iron it with a dry iron. Then, just pin it on your pre-washed and pressed fabric. If there's any grainline arrows, you'll really need to pin accordingly. If there's any notches to cut, I don't. I use a sewing marking pen and a ruler to get a more accurate notch/double notch.

Use sharp scissors and cut slowly. If you mess up, it's just another trip to JoAnn's (or where-ever) and we LOVE to go fabric shoppin'. :lovestruc

Rotary cutters and a cutting mat ROCK if your pattern is really big or if it's a quilt.

Also, if you want, you can trace it before you cut. But I'm too lazy and prefer to cut extra steps. (I do mark darts or pleat lines etc.)

Good luck Laura! :grouphug:
