Did you use a pattern for those cute little pants? I love the tiny ruffles. How did you do that?

I made this for Drew to wear to Princesses on ice tomorrow night.

I was actually making the pants for a different outfit, but they matched this too, so I skipped making the ruffled jeans I had planned.

Does anyone know where to get free touring plans for Disneyworld? I know that there are many sites who sell them (tourguidemike, etc.), but I am too cheap to pay. We will be there April 20th-26th, and I really want to have a plan so that we are able to make the most of our time.

This looks cute!

Did you line the pants? I have some of that type of fabric that I got on clearance, but it is kind of "see through". I got such a great deal on it, that I couldn't pass it up, and it is waiting to be made into something.

Thanks Tom!

I did line the pants. Drew is 6 so I think she is a little old for them to be unlined. I have seen them on little girls with the dress/tops without them being lined.

I got a great deal on that too! I got 6 yards for $20!!! That was the only color they had, but I have seen black and bright pink and turquoise. I am going to keep looking for more. It says dry clean only, but I washed it and it came out great!

I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if they come that way? If so, I think it'd make a nice ruffle on WHITE jeans/capris.

No daycare buddies today so I can finish up my couple of un-done projects.

Heads Up- if you havent already downloaded the Love Me Knot bag YCMT pattern, the FREEness exp. on the 21st. I now am out of colored ink in my printer, but it was worth it! Now to find the perfect fabric for my new boo-teek bag!

Here's the link if you are lazy like me:http://www.youcanmakethis.com/info/free/FREE-Until-March-21-She-Loves-Me-KNOT-Handbag.htm

You can get an Unofficial Guide at your library...even if its a couple years old, you can modify it.

Also, I'd search the theme parks threads.

And get the Extra Magic hours calender and park opening/closing times on the Disneyworld website so you can plan what parks you want to visit each day...work your ADR's around that.

Thanks everyone! I bought that fabric in the home dec. section at JoAnns! It says dry clean, but I washed it and it turned out great. The only thing I see is that maybe over time the ruffles will get a little more frayed on the edge. I am not really worried about that though because that's "in" right now!

I used a pants pattern that was just 2 pieces. I like to only have a seem on the inside of the leg when I am working with stripes or something like this. I have seen the instructions for turning patterns into 2 piece pants, but if you aren't brave enough to try that you can usually find jammy pants patterns that are like that.

Oh! I never thought about looking in the home dec department! I'll have to check it out.

Does anyone here have the huskylock 901 serger? I have been fiddling with the settings trying to get a good rolled hem and am wondering if anyone else has already pefected it.

Now you don't have to print the whole thing!:upsidedow
Just save the pdf file on your computer, and print out what pages you might need. I usually only print out the patterns that I need. Saves lots on ink!

Hi Everyone,

I am in need of a weighted vest at my work - the ones we have are just too big for his little shoulders and it falls off. Has anyone ever made one? Its basically a little vest with pockets that you can put weights in to to give deep pressure and a calming organizing effect......

If you have done one, would you mind showing me or telling me how to do it? Or, how to make one out of an already made piece of clothing??

Thanks a ton, Wendy

We have made a few... in maybe a 6 or 8... For a little boy. Looks like a fishing vest and we made rice bags in the shape of fish for the weights. You can heat up the rice bags in the microwave for a calming warmth.

The 1st one we made was from a safari/ cargo style shirt that had pockets already on it. We just cut the arms out and hemmed the raw edge. Then we folded the bottom up and sewed vertical lines up making pockets on front and back. In there we could fit heavy washers or rice bags.

A little girl in my son's class wore an apron with ribbons sewn on the front. They tied washers painted to look like flowers to the apron front with the ribbons.

This sounds as clear as mud... Good luck. (I imagine you could modify an actual fishing vest...) Walmart had kid sizes last year.

I guess I didn't realize the rating on the movie. I just figured it was going to be like the Grinch movie. I know that Dr. Suess's wife was outraged at The Cat in the Hat movie, because of some of the stuff in the movie. I just figured that they would have toned it down some because of her. How bad is it??

We took my neice Sunday and thought it was very well done. It is rated G (I just double checked) and thought that Horton was awfully sweet. She wasn't scared of Vlad, but afterwards informed us that "the kangeroo is not nice" in no uncertain terms.

I let her go on the field trip because I too saw that it was rated G. Her and I will probably go see it together tomorrow. We are both out of school.

Five years ago today, I was in labor until midnight, when my little Tessa (or Tesserella because of the midnight thing) was born. I can't belive my baby is 5 years old already. I remember that day like it was yesterday. We're having a party at Build-A-Bear tonight.

In honor of Tessa's birthday, here's a link to my pregnancy journal and labor story:

Warning: I'm a bit long-winded (as if you didn't already know that :rotfl2: )
ETA: After reading through my birth story again, don't read if you're squeamish!

My favorite pattern is actually for pjs. I've lost count of how many times I've made this pattern just for my oldest. Little sister is just now big enough for it so I get to make some more soon.

I've made almost every variation possible of this: long sleeved & angle-wing, gown, shorts, pants. I even made the robe this Christmas & it was a big hit.

What pattern numbe3r is this?? It looks great I'd like to try that!

Off to read your journal and labor story!

:bday:Happy Birthday Tessa!!!! :bday:

I've been lurking around here lots lately and I took a little jaunt over to YCMT website too.... seems like a lot of those little models over there sure look familiar! Is that a DisBoutique owned site???LOL!!! ;)

Does anyone have directions for the "I Spy" books??

Hmm - everything I read says it is rated G. We actually took the kids to see it and I thought it was really good - and had a good overall theme. And I am kinda picky about movies - we didn't do Shrek, Cat in the Hat, and several other animated movies that I never understood why they had to include "adult humor". I read about movies we want to see on the website pluggedinonline.com - it has great info about movies content including the positive elements, violence, sexual, spiritual and several others. The one part I didn't care for was the mayor being called a "****" (I got censored - LOL - it is a word that starts and ends with a b, and has two o's in the middle) - they could have thought of a better word to put in a kids movie. The kids immediately pointed out the "b" word and that it was a bad word. It's a personal decision - so many movies out there - but that website helps a little.

I guess I was wrong..I thought it was PG. There were a few words in there that we don't say...like Stupid, B**B, S**ks...I think that's it...I looked down at my girls faces when they said b**b, and my oldest was confused..:confused3 .so that was a good thing.
