That is exactly what I am looking for. It is ADORABLE! I wonder what she used for the hat?

I embroidered the fabric, found some stiff stabilizer I had in my stash from purse making, and took apart an old party hat we had for a pattern. Trace the pattern (leave a little bit for the seams), trace the stabilizer the exact size, fold fabric over edge of stabilizer and sew. Tack the very ends together to make a hat shape. I cheated and glued the fuzz on the bottom and the top of the hat. Oh and don't forget the elastic! I sewed that in too. It really was pretty simple to make. I got the inspiration from here http://www.sewforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=61021 You may have to register with the site to see it. She gives great directions and best of all....pictures! :)

It's 11:45 pm ......... I'm baking cupcakes!!!! It's my daughters 9th birthday tomorrow and she wants to take cupcakes to share with her friends. I didn't get off work until 9:30 pm and realized that I needed to go to the store to get everything. Oh, and I'm trying to finish up her outfit for tomorrow. I made her a tink peasant top and some decoupage jeans. She likes it. Dunno if I did the jeans right. I think next time I'll put some heat n bond lite on them so that I don't have the bubbly puckers that I seemed to have without it. Oh well, live and learn! I just need to put the ruffle on the shirt and it's done! I'll post pics tomorrow. :)

How cool is that!?! I didn't know they were that old. I guess we'll call them "vintage"! I got married 14 years ago, so I guess you must be a little bit younger than me. Unless you were 19 years old in 5th grade!:rotfl:

I really don't have a clue as to what to make with these!! If anyone has any ideas besides the standard pillowcase appliques, let me know!!

PrincessKell:I think they look great together!

No, no - I was in college at 19. . . lol. . . I'm 25 so just a tiny bit younger . . . I just could not believe it when I saw it posted. . . I HAD to call my DH over, and he was like, those aren't yours???? lol!!

mmmmmmmmmm cupcakes! Yeah I remember baking last minute for Georgia's birthday. that was not fun.

ok so I got the pants done. All but the elastic. I need a waist for that. haha I love how it came out in the capri. I wasn't a huge fan of the fabric before, but I really like it in the pant! I added ric rac to the bottom. I was going to do a ruffle in the other fabric but Georgia said no. So ric rac it is. I am going to make a top tomorrow before work, hopefully.

I cannot take credit for the idea for the cake - I CASEd it from some dude's website. It was really fun to make, though!

I cut the Butterick 5019 pattern apart at the shoulder and then folded down the neck part on both the front and back. I like to line the apron dress, so I just make sure I add a seam allowance on all edges. For the straps, I just used a strap pattern from another dress.

I have the Farbenmix pattern also, but I really like the button closure on the front (underneath) part of this dress. I think it lays flatter than the tie of the Farbenmix, which looks nicer IMO.

Hope that helps!

Thanks so much for the instructions! This will help tremendously - makes perfect sense!

WHOA! You guys are just tooo fast for me! How can you make so many awesome things and have time to chat????? I am just tooo slow I guess! Too much to comment on but I love the suess outfit, I love Megans flamingo pants, and Leighanna's new dress is fantastic! I saw a bunch of other things, but I can't remember them all!!!! And I thought I would jump in on the name convo, because I do have a SYDNI just spelled differently! It was the only name my DH and I agreed on!:rotfl: Well, I have finished a dress for Sydni but it did not trun out great, but I will post pics when I can take some! Off to school for now!

PS- STEPH, where did you get that flamingo fabric, I MUST have some?

We have a sick puppy in our house right now. I took our little baby to the vet and she said that she has bronchitus. She just isn't feeling herself right now. She was having a fit this morning. No matter which way she turned she just couldn't get comfortable and she was shaking so I think her fever came back. I wonder can you give a dog tylenol. I'm gonna have to find out. So needless to say I didn't get much done yesterday and I probably won't get much done today.

But let me tell you! Those models on the YCMT site sure are beautiful and professional looking! So are the clothes!
(and yet vaguely familiar all at the same time.)
I agree! :thumbsup2

When I was pregnant, I was searching for an Irish girls name...it was difficult, because the way the names are spelled, aren't the way they are pronounced...I was plagued with this my entire life. My name is Elisa, but it is pronounced Ah-lisa. not Eliza, Alyssa, Elsie..and all of the other variations that I've had to endure...anyway, I was watching the baby story, and the little girl in the show's name was Ireland, and I thought, How perfect! and that was it. So far in her life she's met 2 other little girls named Ireland. One at Epcot, and one at the grocery store...I hear it's beginning to become a popular name...egads..I hope not.
But the downfall of naming your child a "place" name, is that it's kind of tacky to do it twice, so my dreams of naming my second daughter Syndey, fell by the wayside. Everyone poo-poohed the idea, and I said, FINE!! :headache: I'll just pick anything out of the "A" section of the baby name book, and low and behold. Alexis was born... I regret it now, and should have stuck to my guns, but it's too late, and she insists on being called Alexa, not Alexis, which is totally uncool...LOL
Thanks for sharing the origins of Ireland's name. I really like original names. I've never heard of another Ireland, so I really don't think it's getting popular, at least not yet! When I named Sawyer, I'd never heard of another Sawyer. Now I've heard of several (but haven't met one yet). Of course, they're all GIRLS!! We've only met one other Tessa- in the bathroom at a Beauty and the Beast play :rotfl: .
My friend's little girl is named Elisa. But, they pronounce it Alyssa. I often wonder why they didn't just name her Alyssa! Poor kid will be forever correcting people! I guess it's because my friend's name is Susan, it's the "common name momma syndrome"! LOL!
Have I rambled enough?

That cake is SOOO cool! Great job! Great to see pics of the kiddos again! We've missed those sweet faces!

JAZMIN!!!!!

I believe she said she got it from someone on here!

I think I might want to try making felt play food. It looks so cool. I discovered it on craftser. It just looks so cute.

 Poor puppy! I would call the vet and ask about the Tylenol.

I have a few quick questions :)

What is the best YCMT pattern for a tiered ruffle skirt. I need sewing for dummies easy so I hate to buy with out knowing if it is easy to follow. Thanks!

I am also wondering if anyone has made a custom birthday hat. I want to make on for Katie to wear to her party. I like the ones with the marabou fur etc. I just do not know what type of hat to use. Do you think I would have to make one? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I have those same instructions from SewForum saved, but I was also wondering if you could take apart a birthday hat and use spray adhesive (like Super 77) to cover with fabric... then reassemble the hat and add the trim.

I saw birthday hats like this for the first time a couple of years ago in a gift shop... they were somewhere in the $15 - $20 range (and not nearly as spectular as some of the hats I've seen since). Of course my first thought was... I can make this for a lot less!! I may not be good at coming up with my own ideas, but I sure can copy! :rotfl:

Yes, that was me! I basically just folded over the top part of the pattern where the the neck hole would be, then when I cut it out, I guesstimate a seam allowance and try to cut very straight across the top. I'll take a pic here in a minute and post it - I still need to post the star wars cake, too!

Thanks!! I have the Butterick pattern and every time I look at it I think about the cute dresses you made for your little one.

jham you are the lucky winner of the fabric!! Just in time too.

I wrote the names and picked one out of my basket! PM me your address and I will ship that baby off!

   Yay! Thank you!!!

OMG that is sooo cute! Lily needs felt food! :rotfl: Some look easier to make than others! I might be able to make a pancake!

Sorry I've been a posting slacker lately. I love everything you have been making! I have banned myself from doing anything else (other than cooking and laundry) until my craft/sewing room is cleaned and organized. I'm almost done! :cheer2: The good news is I found some coordinating Tink fabrics I didn't realize I had :lmao: I see a another big face outfit in my (Lily's) future! I have a huge pile of projects to do, but at least now they are all organized.

I found the cutest fabric today...well it's actually a sheet...but I knew i could do something with it..
306660068.jpg

I also have been working on panels for my Tinkerbell outfit. Here are the first two. The bottom halfs look funny but they will be cropped when I hem the skirt...but otherwise..so far so good..
306660060.jpg

I was going to wait and show you the finished outfit, but it might be next year before I ever finish it...

Wow, those are fantastic! I'm totally amazed! There are a lot of people out there that are becoming applique experts! Too bad I'm not one of them!

That felt food is super cute. DD is just now getting out of playing with fake food. :guilty: She is more interested in books, fashion dolls and games.

I finished a couple of more things for Leighanna.

This is the Farbenmix Anna pattern. Leighanna really likes it. She wore it to church today.

Very similar to the Butterick 5019, but this has straps and a bodice lining so you don't have to use bias tape.

Love it Tom! How hard are the Farbenmix patterns. I keep thinking about buying one but I'm not nearly as talented as most of the people on here and I'm nervous! Beautiful job!

Cute! That's one thing I did not like about the Butterick pattern, that looks very nice with the straps.

You know, to be sappy for a moment, you guys are really the best. More than once I mentioned having a problem finding a certain fabric and someone has pmed me offering to send it. I really appreciate the sense of family here and I've had a rough patch socially and this place keeps me sane (and thinking maybe I am not crazy after all). The people on this thread have been nicer to me than people in real life, including the pastor from my old church, so thank you.

Anyway...here is what I made with the fabric sent to me. I copied mytwotinks and tried gauchos. I think they turned out great. I need to tighten the elastic around the waist, they are so heavy they slide right down her skinny hips and are more like low-riders! I will definitely do them again, maybe as capris. Jacob had a soccer tournament this weekend and she got lots of compliments today from the moms. The shirt is from Wal Mart and I got the bling from the sewing expo I went to. I attempted to make some matching bows, but they look a little too "handmade" if you know what I mean.

Love it! So cute with that shirt!

Hi Everyone!
Great job Tom on your latest...boy you sew even more than I do...:rolleyes1
If you have any left over fabric, Ireland would love one of those..:rotfl: .LOL. I also love the hair for tiebacks...you have her standing too close to the windows again...it tricked me..
Anyway here is my latest...I have been fooling around with a "real" background, and not taking the girls pictures in front of the orange wall or outside. I like the black background and tomorrow I will try the white..anyway, the one's of Ireland don't have the plexiglass under her, and the one with Alexis, (the blonde) does...I think I like it better with it...

Fantastic pictures! I think I like the plexiglas too. What kind of background are you using and how big is the plexiglass? I take pictures of my girls wearing their boutique clothes from last year and resell them on :wizard: and would love to know how you got such professional looking results!
