Here's part 2 in the Sewing for Dummies tutorial:

Thread actually needs to be IN the bobbin!

Especially when your trotting along doing ruffles with your now mastered Ruffler Foot Contraption and daydreaming and watching All My Children....

Grrrrr!

Jhammie- Cute dresses and Applique! When is the neighbor boutique? I have people who would want to go too. I seriously can't wait! Plus I've never met SugarBees. Did you tell her to have lots of diet soda on hand? ;)

Congrats to the weiner of the Tom's Original with matching pants! Now I actually have to cut into my (same) fabric and do it myself. OR, I can go to :wizard: and help put his dd through school!

I'm almost done with a peasant top and capris that I was inspired by (my cheapness) on :wizard: . I'm so happy with the way they turned out.

I could neve master that ol ruffler thing!!!!!!!!! i:confused3

:grouphug: to you and your little ones. If she needs to wear a sling you could always make her a custom boutique one :lmao:

You know great minds think alike. I was just saying the same thing earlier. I just want to know if it sounds silly to make her one. Or is that over the top. I am fixing a sweat shirt one of megans older ones still in good condition. I am going to remove the ribbed cuff at the end of the sleeve so she can wear a jacket. I just know she will be in a cast for a few weeks atleast. Again thanks to all for the tohoughts and support. It means so much to me.:grouphug:

Ok so I think I am going to make some jammies for Georgia when this comes! I have never seen it before. Doesn't it look like a future nightgown?
princessflannel.jpg

I love that fabric!

I bought some pirate (non-Disney) fabric recently and I am making pajama pants for my only son.

mommyof3princess, . Here's basic instructions to make a sling: http://www.gotfabric.com/projects/0408sling.php

Happy sewing to all!

I don't think it would be silly. I have seen children with casts made out of Dora, camo, and different colors for over wrap material.

Thanks Disneymommieof2 for keeping mein the loop. I have been working 40 plus hours a week plus have no internet connection at home. So having trouble getting around here. I miss you guys. Totally have NOT been sewing. I am the worst mom and wife ever. My dishes aren't done and the kids are in store bought clothes (not always clean ones) This 40 hour work week thing is for the birds, whose idea was it anyway??? But I think we are on our way to saving the house from foreclosure and the weather is warming up and B has been working again so hopefully it won't be long before I'm back on the boards chatting w/ all of my friends again. I really miss having you guys to keep me motivated and smiling. Smiling is something I haven't been doing a lot of lately. But I think things are starting to look up. Lily has a staff infection...so on top of everything I'm super exhausted b/c she hasn't been sleeping very well. Her fever broke finally yesterday (it started last thursday) but the swelling in her lymph glands under her arm hasn't gone down yet....but she is, thankfully, eating normally and NOT crying constantly. So I'm looking forward to a couple of good nights of sleep.
I'll try to get back here to look over the new stuff sometime in the next week.
Hope everyone is well, know that I am thinking of all of you!

Aww thank you everyone I needed some reassurance that I am not a horrible parent and these things happen to other parents as well. I seriously thought they were going to call cps. I completely forgot to mention on Tuesday Sammie fell and smacked her on her bed rails. Not a full black eye but a nice red mark in the outer corner could you just picture me in the ER for that after taking Emily for her arm. I need to put the fabric projects aside and wrap my kids in bubble wrap outfits. I wonder if I could find a pattern for that:rotfl2: :rotfl: . Thanks everyone. I will let you all know how Monday goes. Keep your fingers crossed. With all you that's a lot of luck and boy do I need it.:grouphug: :flower3: To all.

I mostly lurk on this thread, but I wanted to come out of lurkdom to say: Heck yes they happen! In one week...a Monday, Wednesday and a Thursday, my sisters and I all ended up at the ER for different things...I fell out of a tree and ended up with a concussion...older sister was running in her socks through the kitchen, slipped and skidded into the wall, broke her little toe...and younger sister got kicked in the face after walking too close to someone who was swinging on the playground and she ended up with a very nasty black eye and red blood blister thing on her eyeball that made her look like night of the living dead! My poor mother was horrified as we were all supposed to be well mannered little Southern Belles...when really we were rowdy wild girls! (I was STILL in my Southern Miss pageant that weekend!) :rotfl2:

I hope your little girl doesn't have to have surgery. Poor baby.

wishing you all the luck and pixie dust you can handle!!!

TA Dahhh!

This is the Simplicity #4206 (Sewing For Dummies) pattern I've gotten my money's worth out of. One day when window shopping on :wizard: I saw this very well done outfit with a similar color palate. These bottoms are a paisley and the top is a wee little flower print in celery, mustard and a little teal. This :wizard: was SUPER expensive and had a ton of included pieces. I just wanted the peasant top and pants. So here I go saving me a pretty penny and am really pleased. It's the first outfit I've made where I wouldn't die if any of you looked at the seams :lovestruc

(sorry so big)

Awww, she's gorgeous! And great job on the outfit! You saved yourself so much money, you could almost pay for a trip to Disneyland with it! Money in the pocket there girl!

Here's what I did today!   You all have gotten so much done! I am envious. Everything looks great! Hopefully I will be better and back to sewing tomorrow, but the kids have the day off from school so it will be interesting. I finally got my easter dress fabric today. Sorry I've not been commenting, but as Luke would say, my head feels like it is going to "consplode". Love everything though. Can't wait to show Luke Mary Poppins ;) Well, I'm off to bed, hopefully. The kids have been playing hide and go seek and are all wired. DH is out of town. Wish me luck! :rotfl:

Hope you're feeling better! I hate it when I'm sick and my DH is travelling......not that he's much of a help when I'm sick and he's home!:rotfl2: Somehow my being sick is a major inconvenience to him!

Last Thursday the 21 Samantha twin B had to go to the emergency to have a wad of paper removed fro her left nostril. She was sent home with a Rx for antibiotics. Ok now on to Emily Twin A Who around 6:00 on sat night fell off Megan bunk bed latter and hurt her arm. So off to the ER for Emily and I Paul and the other two girls stayed home. They x rayed her lower arm because that's where she keep pointing it hurt. So 3 hours latter we leave the hospital with pain Rx and her arm in a sling and told to follow with our family Dr. Wed I take her for her follow up and Sam for her nose. And Sam checks out good. But Emily still doesn't want to move her arm so they send us to get x rays. I get the results over the phone about an hour later her humorous is broken the upper arm bone. So after Paul gets off work I drop him and the girls off at home and head to the hospital to get a splint on her arm. Now we wait till Monday morning to go to the ortho to have it looked at and cast. That's if is doesn't require surgery yep my baby could need surgery to fix her arm. Needless to say I am a wreck. :headache: I forgot to mention on Monday Megan got kicked in the face by someone jumping off the swing at school. She didn't have to go to the ER thank god I was afraid they were going to call CPS on me if I took one more kid to the ER. I guess in my house Trips to the ER happens in threes. Thanks for letting me share.

Here is to hoping for no surgery! Prayers and well wishes are coming your way!

Very cute! Love the outfit!

Somehow I lost some of my multi-quote but I love everything that everyone has done!

Congrats to everyone who lost weight and for those who are trying keep at it!

Heather, I loved the Mary Poppins dress, it is fabulous! Great idea on using the scalloped fabric so you didn't have to do a hem!

I love it!!!! I think it has a great pattern and color to it. how long did the pattern take?

Maybe 2-3 hours total. It's a great pattern as a basic. It would be a cinch to whip something up with-OUT the ruffles and bobbin snaffoo. I'll add a big bow in her hair (as soon as I go to the local boutique. I'm not a bow maker).

I have enough fabric leftover to make the shorts too. That way It'll feel like I got the mother load from :wizard: . I love to window shop there! Sooo fun to save the big bucks doing it myself.

The paisley print is cute, I'll have to take a close upish picture when I do the shorts.

How's your Minnie Dot quest coming? OUr Wally's only has it at Halloween I guess, cuz I checked for you today. I don't have enough to offer you or I totally would. I'll keep checking in the Utah shops for you.

I have the wally print version and it is just to brassy, I like the dark red from hancocks. Found out that it is discontinued and the original manufacterer is no longer making it. I called them!!! oh well, so I found some from others and also :wizard: ... it will all work out!
