Another outfit to share.... I use the stripwork jumper top, and then use lisazoe's instruction for the skirt. I made it wedges...but when I was done, I realized that there wasn't enough fabric to gather the skirt...but amazingly, the top of the skirt was exactly the same length as the bodice...so I decided to just attached them that way. I think I should have made the strips/wedges bigger...I made it 2 inches on the top and 6 inches on the bottom!

I must add that I got the idea for this outfit from an outfit made by CastleCreation. I really like the yellow and black and minnie dot combo.

I LOVE this! I think it is so sleek with no gathers, and yet still so twirly!!! I love it, I may have to do something similar....:thumbsup2 (love the prints too and colors too!)

For those of you who have made the wedge shapes, are they curved at the bottom or just straight? TIA!

I just wanted to say that I had a thrilling day of clean clean clean. top to bottom early spring cleaning!
Then I sit down to check on you guys and you all made some cute stuff!
And then I check my bank online just to see and there is our state refund I only sent in last monday! WOO HOOO! I did not expect that for a while! ahhhhhh I feel better.
Hope to be around some this weekend! The girls have a 2 day national cheer competition locally. Wish us luck!

Good morning everyone! Just wanted to share a few things that I have been working on.

This is for my 2 yo ds...I still have to do the buttons/buttonholes.... dh says this is for when he goes meet McQueen and Mater at Hollywood Studios.

I am working on a few more things right now, and will post them when I am done. What else do you make for boys other than button down shirts, shorts and applique t-shirts? I don't really enjoy making those button down shirts...

Jenny

I embellished jeans for my son and nephew and of course there is always pj/ lounge pants. My grammy can whip up a button down like nobodys business so I get her to do it for me- cheating yeah I know! I agree about the ricky rack. The LE is cute too!!
Okay, you're all probably pretty sick of the ariel top right now (by the way, I just realized I lost the quote or something, but I just used Carla's portrait peasant tops and dresses pattern from YCMT. I just lengthened and widened the bodice. I love this pattern. It is soooo versatile!) anyhow, last night I made Lily's longish capris to match her peasant top. She was in a modeling mood this morning! The Flounder applique my not have the best placement but it is covering a minor serging accident.

Oh and BTW I forgot who asked, but the pink daisy dress is just the stripwork jumper without the strips and I used 2 buttons in the back (on the straps). I made it pretty twirly :thumbsup2
Thanks that was me about the pink dress. I haven't tried tha yet maybe next time! The pants are cute!! shhh we won't tell about the serger incident ;)
See above about the incident-;) It was always ment to be that way!!:rotfl:

Ok you know if those sheets still exist they will be hunted down and will soon be appearing as new clothes- We'll never look at bedding the same way again!!!:rotfl2: :lmao:
Let me ask you ladies a question.......

Do you have people in your family (or friends too I guess) that you WILL NOT sew for?

I have a niece that is 3.5 months younger than Parker that I have sewed quite a few things for. I have sewn b'day outfits, holiday outfits, and 2 coordinating outfits that she wore when we went to Disney. I am never paid for the these outfits, sometimes my SIL will buy the fabric for her and Parker and then I just sew the outfits to even it out. Well, everything I have ever made her is wore one time and that is it (sometimes not even once). It has really hurt my feelings b/c I feel it isn't appreciated and that I wasted my time.

The reason I ask this is b/c I have been struggling lately with whether or not to make her a couple of outfits for her b'day (end of March). I have bought the material already but I still can't decide if I want to go through spending my time making outfits that will never be worn or appreciated.

What are your thoughts?
I say if the kids like it keep doing it- they will get older and develop opinions about what THEY want to wear so I say keep on going for a little bit maybe don't make as much. But it's about the kids right- not what SIL thinks- well it is about what SIL thinks but only for a while- soon they will have their own ideas about things-:rolleyes1
I love the red, black and yellow together. Looks twirly and fun!! :cutie:
Where can I find Lisa's instructions?
Amy- Anna said "I love the Strawberry Shortcake outfit" I want one!
The pooh outfits are adorable too!
Everyone is so talented!

Just wanted to ask is that a cake in your avatar- If it is we want to see a bigger picture of it -we get into cakes around here too (among other things...)

So we went to playhouse disney LIVE on stage this evening-:sad2:
We get our seats and the show starts- we are on the upper side of the stage and can only see the people if they are out at the edge, because there is a curtain blocking the sides so we can't see "in the stage" So we watch for a little while and I couldn't take it so I went to guest services and ask if we can move there were plenty of open seats and she looks at my ticket and says oh they should have stopped you at the door. :headache:  well they didn't say anything to us!! Niether di danyone come to the bad viewing sections and offer new seats you know like before the show started!!!! She gave us new seat assignments- WAY better ones! The whole section we were sitting in was full and I say should I let the other people know (so they can actually see the show they paid $25 a seat for) She looks panicky and says NO! Ok fine so I go back and say to my sister ( and not very quitely) we're moving lets go!! I got us new seats!! We pack up the kiddos and their stuff and by then the first half is almost over and by the time we get to the new seats it is intermission :scared1: And on the way we lost ds mickey swirly light from WDW!!! So when we notice it is gone I went all the way back looking for it!! So I missed most of the show:scared: And I am feeling like I need to write a nasty gram to let the producers know what an unpleasant experience I had. One good thing though some people who had been sitting by us in the old location saw we dropped the mickey light and brought it to us after the show!! :flower3: She "overheard" me say wear we were moving to!! Oh and someone stopped and asked if I made the outfits the boys were wearing!!:goodvibes
I will post pictures later on saturday we are going to the funeral in the morning and I am at work tonight.
And to top it off we went the wrong way in the skyway on our way back to the car and did a "little" extra walking :rolleyes1 With a sick 4 yr. (who wanted to be carried) and a 2 1/2 year old (who wanted to walk)!! Fun times...

CUTE CUTE! Flower turned out great! HELP ME with my serger...I'm SCARED!!!! :scared1: pweeeeeeese!!!!!

THANK YOU!!!!!

OH SO CUTE! I am in love with the big girls tops! And little Emma's pillowcase dress is to die for! You are my hero! :yay:

So, I have to share a sad story :sad1:
A friend of mine was in a very serious accident yesterday (for you locals, it was the big one that shut down Bangerter during rush hour)...her baby girl passed away early this morning. She was 4. They were hit by a 16 yr old. My heart is breaking for all of them. I keep thinking of little Ashton and her sweet little smile. GO HUG THOSE BABIES! :grouphug:

Oh, this is so sad. I cannot imagine losing my Grace or Claire. Poor woman. I truly think I'd probably lose my mind. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

I don't make many boys' items so I thought I better share one I did do not long ago - nothing fancy but definitely fun.

th_dino2.jpg

Great dinosaur! Even though I don't have a boy I like seeing the boy stuff!
Hmm, who knows, maybe the bun in the oven will turn out to be a boy!

Good morning everyone! Just wanted to share a few things that I have been working on.

This is for my 2 yo ds...I still have to do the buttons/buttonholes.... dh says this is for when he goes meet McQueen and Mater at Hollywood Studios.
th_IMG_3852p.jpg

The next two are for my dd -
For character lunch at Hollywood & Vine. I made ds a pair of shorts with the same material and am thinking about doing an applique t-shirt for him.
th_IMG_3850p.jpg

For dd..and I am thinking to wear to Tusker House for breakfast. I had some trouble with the pants for this outfit..took me a while to figure out the front waistband - it has elastic on the back, but not on the front. I still have to do the buttons on this one as well. Do you think I should add anything to this outfit, or just leave it as is?
th_IMG_3854p.jpg

I am working on a few more things right now, and will post them when I am done. What else do you make for boys other than button down shirts, shorts and applique t-shirts? I don't really enjoy making those button down shirts...

Jenny

I'm not sure how old your son is or when you're going but what about overalls (if he is young enough for them)? Love the shirt, you are so brave, I haven't tried button holes yet! The LE dress is so cute! Love the Minnie Dot the way it is but what about a ruffle on the pant bottoms? Maybe some yellow thrown in somewhere too? I think someone else suggested a flower so that might be great in yellow! Fantastic job on all of it!

Such cute stuff!! I really love the ariel peasant top. I've got one panel but I'm thinking I need to go get another one just in case. :)

Thanks for the ideas about the pool party. There will be lots of adults at the party. There are 3 lifeguards at the center and then dh and sil were both lifeguards, plus we'll have at least 5 other adults. There will be 10 kids total. I'm leaning towards cupcakes and goodie bags after swimming. I'm hoping it's not too tacky. :confused3 I'm always confused when "ettiquette" is involved. :lmao:

Still no pettiskirt today. I'm such a slacker. I'm feeling better thankfully. DH is going in to get the big sniperoo today though. So I'm sure tending to his every need I won't have much time to sew. :rotfl2:

Brave Husband! Very Brave! I was all about this operation until I was about 27 (I'm not kidding about my age either, I just didn't understand!) and my teacher's aides were talking about their husbands having it done. I said something to the effect of well at least nothing comes out anymore and they looked at me like I was crazy! I didn't realize that stuff still came out just not "the stuff". After that I wasn't too concerned if DH ever had one. Probably an inappropriate story for here but it was funny at the time!

Haha...our kids were like the VonTrapp family...running around Diney world dressed in sheets their mom/aunt fashioned into clothes...

P.S. I have NO pics of Dylan and Emma in these outfits:sad1: Please just enjoy the Dynamic Duo: Chloe & Katie.

Best Friends

th_100_1283.jpg

Very twirly...it is sometimes hard to see all of your hard work getting soaked int he fountains in Epcot. :rolleyes1

See the little "hidden Mickey" on the back of Chloe's dress??? I made a boo-boo and attached it as a patch. Well, the girls thought it was so cool, I had to make KAtie one, too!:rotfl:

Good fabric shot...

Wow, these are some cute outfits and I'm so glad that you came out of lurkdom! I'm going to be hunting down some sheets from now on!

Let me ask you ladies a question.......

What are your thoughts?

Although I've never sewn for anyone other than my girls, my MIL used to sew for my girls and my DH's niece and nephew. My SIL never put her kids in the clothes so I think she stopped sewing for them and now that I sew she only does occasional things for my girls (pajamas, Halloween costumes, etc.). But my girls at least wear her things!

Hi there - do you mind if I join you?

My name is Clare and I'm in the UK and love sewing of any description. Most of my time is spent on patchwork/quilting but I have an 18 week daughter who I want to start making clothes for.

I am very jealous as I've never seen the fab disney fabric in this country so I reckon its time for a visit to WDW just to pop into Joannes while I'm there.

Clare

Welcome! I've got a DD2 named Claire just spelled differently!

For the girls, I just found khaki jumpers and customized them, but I liked the way they came out, so I will share:

Everyone kept asking if they were triplets this day! Oh, and we had to buy "Safari Minnie" because she had a matching outfit!:)

Great job on these too! Those appliques must have taken some time!

Sorry I had to edit some of the pictures out, I was over 25 images!

Here is a skirt I finished today for CP. I am just putting it with a Tshirt I found for $4.

Here is the promised ECV cover. I still need to press the seams. If you see me at WDW (and I don't see how anyone will miss me now!) say hi!

Love the skirt and the cover! Good idea on the cover!

Those turned out really cute! I think the Flounder looks fine just where it is!
I use PaintShop Pro v9. It's definitely able to do a lot more than I need plus it's affordable when compared to PhotoShop.

I got Paintshop pro v11 a few months ago and I am having a heckuva time learning to use it!

Nice is good! :thumbsup2
hee hee, I spy the capitalized Pepsi! It's my secret ingredient for my crock pot chili too!!!!! I'm making this for dinner, thanks!

All you LOSERS out there, help meeeee! I gained back all my weight I had lost since after Christmas! I'm so out of control! I'm just feeling too lazy to diet :upsidedow So far today, I've had one packet of Weight Control Oatmeal (as seen on Biggest Loser ;) ) and one Lean Pocket. And about a trough-full of water...slosh slosh. I just need to have my jaws wired

Now, I 'm thinking I have to make a peasant top out of a pillow case for some reason...
Hmm...Pepsi in chili? Sounds like something I'll have to try!

Have you ever tried Weight Watchers? I'm doing the core program and it's GREAT! You can eat from the list of core foods, until you feel satisfied! So, you're never hungry! I love it!

Hi Clare!!! :welcome: Great to "meet" you! We can't wait to see what you make for your itty bitty baby!! You MUST post pictures!!

I LOVE it!! I have loved the yellow, red, and black mini dot combo from the moment I set eyes on this thread way back in July of '07 :rotfl: ! I MUST make something like this! I really like the fact that it's not gathered. It gives it a nice, tailored look!

Yay! I'm loving all of your outfits!!!

I was browsing on Overstock dot com today and I was amazed at all the boutique outfits on there. They are not Disney, but still cute, lots of ideas there and the prices are so reasonable. I thought some of you might like to check it out for idea sake.
Thanks! That's a great idea! I love looking at different stuff to get ideas!

Hello, I've missed so much! I did take two serger classes so I will be happy to answer any questions about serging because I am the expert (snort!).

Someone did ask what the different between braided and knitted elastic was and now I know, thanks to a pj class. Braided elastic gets skinnier when you stretch it and knitted elastic does not, so they recommend knitted elastic for lingerie and boxers and stuff like that. Hope that helps whoever asked (I can't remember!). Anyway, tomorrow I have the class "Sewing for my Little Sweetie" and I am very excited about that. Then we go shopping. I bought a little flamingo iron on bling I can't wait to put on a shirt for M.
So, are you saying you actually got the serger out of the box? :rotfl:

I love the Pooh skirt and the "blinged" up ECV cover is great!! Everyone will be sure to recognize you now!!

Where can I find Lisa's instructions?

Amy- Anna said "I love the Strawberry Shortcake outfit" I want one!

The pooh outfits are adorable too!

Everyone is so talented!
Almost any instructions that are posted on here are also in teresajoy's bookmarks. They are also on the disboutiquers board, which I don't have a link to off-hand. But, it's in revrob's siggy.

You know if you can't get over, we might be able to work out a deal, I'll send you fabric if you can send underwear from M&S my hubby refuses to wear American underwear. :lmao: It's a long story which has earned my poor mother-in-law the dubious nickname of Underpant Fairy. :rotfl:

that does not sound fun! The question is - did the kids have fun?

Sewing classes! I want to do that! Is it through a fabric store or what? I know there's quilting classes going on at this "Fabric Center" here in Salt Lake.
But I really want a sewing stuff for my kids class. I'm green with jealousy

I want to buy a serger from a place that has classes in which to learn how to effectively utilize it.

Can't wait for the pictures! Sorry about the semi-bad time ((hugs)).

Heather- this is easier than editing your post: Yes I've been on WW but not the Core. I'm intrigued...plus I have all the stuff still. I need to do something before I gain any MORE!

ETA sorry about the large sideways photo again! I don't know what is the problem with photobucket. We are not getting along. Hopefully it will adjust itself soon. I think the others did.

And she keeps insisting I take photos of the back now :rotfl:
IMG_1049.jpg

Oh and BTW I forgot who asked, but the pink daisy dress is just the stripwork jumper without the strips and I used 2 buttons in the back (on the straps). I made it pretty twirly :thumbsup2

I love Ariel, so there is no such thing as too much Ariel. The outfit is great.

Those are so cute. I cannot believe they are made from sheets.

Are you sorry you asked to see the cakes...lol...I am dabbling in sewing. I have made curtains and pillows and a sad looking shirt. I want to copy an outfit that I saw on here. It is the same style as Lisa's and previous posters, but it is the animal kingdom outfit(black bodice with mm applique and animal print dress {zebra, cheetah etc})

Beautiful Cakes! Where is everyone today?

Heather- this is easier than editing your post: Yes I've been on WW but not the Core. I'm intrigued...plus I have all the stuff still. I need to do something before I gain any MORE!
I've done WW twice before, but I hadn't done the core program. The only thing that's hard for me is you can't have sugar or flour, unless you use your 35 weekly flex points. But, now that I've been doing it a few weeks, I don't crave sugar so much!! When I was on WW before, I was nursing, so I got 10 extra points/day. But, now that I'm not nursing, I don't think I can subsist on 22 points/day!! :rotfl:

WOW!!! You are really talented! I think the fairy cake is my absolute favorite- SOO pretty! How did you make the flower on that one? It's beautiful!

Hi Clare!!! :welcome:
How's life in the UK? I hope you find a lot of inspiration and friendship here at the Dis...We all love to share our tips with each other and our project ideas.
How soon will you be coming to the US?

Thanks for the warm welcome.

We won't be visiting until December (boo hoo) as Hope is only 17 weeks old at the minute. By then we won't have to worry about bottles etc, plus I'll have saved some more pennies to spend!!!

Hi Clare!

Where in the UK are you? My hubby is from Dorset, my inlaws are still there, DH has uncles in Scotland and in New Castle. My dad is from the Chelmsford area, I still have cousins in that area and in London. We try to get over once every other year.

You know if you can't get over, we might be able to work out a deal, I'll send you fabric if you can send underwear from M&S my hubby refuses to wear American underwear. :lmao: It's a long story which has earned my poor mother-in-law the dubious nickname of Underpant Fairy. :rotfl:

Welcome!

ooo you can't go wrong with M&S undies!! I'm only too happy to go shopping (like I need an excuse) - just shout!!!!

I'm originally from London (Croydon) but now live just outside Birmingham.

Dude, I just got home froma week vacation to 20+ pages int he "old post" and 33 pages here. Woah! :scared1:

I Disney-fied this outfit for my 13 (almost 14) year old niece for our May trip. The shorts were $3 and the shirt was $3 at WalMart, so $6 total! I love a deal!!

I applaud anyone who does a Mickey head as their first applique! All those curves aren't easy! Mine looks pretty wonky! I did it without taking out the side seam on the pants. I'm sure it would have looked neater if I would have done that.

I also finished Tessa's Clarice shirt and Sawyer's Chip shirt. I'll post pictures later today or tomorrow. Still not done with Prince Charming!

Cute! I don't think they look wonky at all. Can't wait to see the chipmunk shirts.

Um, no the serger is still in the box. But I have a book called the serger answer guide. It tells you what to do when your serger screws up. Lots of pictures.

From the sewing for your little sweetie class: use denture tablets in a sink full of water with the offending stain. It should come right out without hurting the fabric.

Welcome Clare!

Welcome back Angela! I hope you had a great time on vacation.

Cute snip story! I nearly spit on the monitor.

I think I caught Megan's virus, so back to bed for me.

Teresa and Heather, I don't think your being a pain at all!! You're simply expressing your opinion about something your passionate about. I would be doing the same thing if you were talking about carbon monoxide poisioning. (been there, done that, got the er bill to prove it! ) I'm sorry you've had such tragedies in your family. That's got to be so hard. Perhaps I should rethink the party. Maybe insist that one parent come with to supervise their child. I dunno. I've got a little bit of time to rethink it I guess.

 Thanks!

A fat quarter is a piece cut 18" by 22". These are preferred by quilters (and others) because it's still only 1/4 yd but the dimensions allow for longer strips cut parallel to the selvedge.
Thanks! I was never sure why I woudl buy that instead of just a 1/4 yard of fabric.

Love to see that cute little Lily!!!! I like the pants!!!

Did you say you were selling the pink dress in a boutique? Or, did I get that totally confused!?

hee hee, I spy the capitalized Pepsi!

I was going to suggest the Core program too, but I see Heather did allready! My Mom has lost 10 pounds in the past few weeks doing it too. Do you have the information for Core? I might have an extra booklet around here if you need it. I'm really liking it myself, I like being able to eat if I'm hungry!

The Hancock's Warehouse sale is going on online if you want to check it out. But from what I remember and what I bought, I will try to make a list.

All notions 50% off (buttons, zippers, packaged ric-rac, binding, ribbon, etc), Absolutely Cotton prints 40% off, All thread 50% off, McCall's patterns .99, Wendover Cotton 50% off (I love this stuff), All Rotary Cutters, Blades, Mats 50% off, there was also a Bolt Bonanza $1 and $2 yard, 50% ribbon spools, Nylon net 2 yards for $1.00. Also online they are offering free shipping for orders over $50.
I always go to b'day parties too. My DD3 got invited to a b'day party 2 weeks ago and the mom asked me before hand if Parker was planning to come and after I said "yes", the mom (who I have only met once) said "you can just drop her off at our condo about 5 and pick her up at 9 (it was a pretend sleepover). I told her that I would be staying with her and she looked at me a little puzzled. Did she actually think that I was going to drop off my 3 year old at someone's house that I had only talked to for maybe 30 minutes beforehand! There is no way that Parker would have stayed by herself anyway (separation anxiety) but HECK NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure if I should thank you for the information on the Hancock sale or not! I certainly don't NEED any more fabric, but I really WANT it!!!

And, I'm glad you wouldn't just drop off your daughter!! When Brian had Corey's first party where he invited friends that weren't relatives I was SHOCKED that people just left their kids!

Teresa - I just wanted to say thanks for pointing out and linking to the charitable sewing initiative! It was very kind of you to bring that to eveyone's attention. It's going to be a great experience, I believe.
 It seems like the right week for me to do this.

Best Friends

I am SO mad at you! How dare you not share these wonderful creations with us before!! ;)
And, this picture literally made me cry it is so sweet!! When we go in May, my girls will be going with their best friends/cousins too. Arminda and Casey are 6 months apart, and Tessa and Lydia are exactly three months apart. It's going to be so much fun!!!

Let me ask you ladies a question.......

Do you have people in your family (or friends too I guess) that you WILL NOT sew for.
I don't have anyone that I wouldn't sew for, but if they acted like that I might. Does your neice like the outfits though? If she acts like she likes the things you make, I would probably make them for her anyway. It's hard though to put that much work into something that pepole don't appreciate.

Clare
:welcome" Clare!!! So glad you decided to join us!! I think you will find we are a friendly bunch!

IMG_3872p.jpg
I LOOOOOVE this!!!! Seriously, I really like that it is NOT gathered at the top!! I really hate to gather, I think I'll CASE your mistake!!

As I was sewing today I thought to myself, "Boy, I wish we had a serger expert on this thread." Funny thing is, that is true. So, if you are serging and one of your spools are taller than the other two, will that mess up your tension?

Is Megan feeling better?
Is she ready to meet us in 69 days??

Here is a skirt I finished today for CP. I am just putting it with a Tshirt I found for $4.

Here is the promised ECV cover. I still need to press the seams. If you see me at WDW (and I don't see how anyone will miss me now!) say hi!
Wow! I love the skirt, that is so cute!! And great idea for the ECV cover! You should have appliqued "Keep off" on it too!

Where can I find Lisa's instructions?
I put everything in the bookmarks.

I'm so excited...I just found the FIND of the century...welll okay..maybe not the century, but at least the weekend! I found a Mickey pillowcase that actually has Mickey in a sailor suit...Perfect for those disney cruise outfits...LOL...I guess this was actually a theme for a kids room a long time ago, because someone has the matching wallpaper border listed..
Sounds cute!! I can't wait to see what you do with it!
And to top it off we went the wrong way in the skyway on our way back to the car and did a "little" extra walking :rolleyes1 With a sick 4 yr. (who wanted to be carried) and a 2 1/2 year old (who wanted to walk)!! Fun times...
How disapointing! I'm sorry you had such a bad night!

I made this for my bf's baby shower. My dd stuck her finger in it:(
