Hello Everone I hope you are all well.

I love all the cute outfits and ideas. And for all those losing weight party: :thumbsup2 great job.

I am posting today to ask if any of you are familar with the book (sewing for Dummies) I was joking with my hubby and said I need a sewing for dummies book. I had no clue at the time there was such a thing. So now I am waiting for it to come in my mail box. I was just wondering if anyone has it. And if so what do you think of it?:confused3

For the girls, I just found khaki jumpers and customized them, but I liked the way they came out, so I will share:

Everyone kept asking if they were triplets this day! Oh, and we had to buy "Safari Minnie" because she had a matching outfit!:)

More great outfits!!! You did a great job!

It is so nice to see so many cute new outfits each day :goodvibes

I was browsing on Overstock dot com today and I was amazed at all the boutique outfits on there. They are not Disney, but still cute, lots of ideas there and the prices are so reasonable. I thought some of you might like to check it out for idea sake.

Gonna have to check it out!! Thanks!

Let me ask you ladies a question.......

Do you have people in your family (or friends too I guess) that you WILL NOT sew for?

I have a niece that is 3.5 months younger than Parker that I have sewed quite a few things for. I have sewn b'day outfits, holiday outfits, and 2 coordinating outfits that she wore when we went to Disney. I am never paid for the these outfits, sometimes my SIL will buy the fabric for her and Parker and then I just sew the outfits to even it out. Well, everything I have ever made her is wore one time and that is it (sometimes not even once). It has really hurt my feelings b/c I feel it isn't appreciated and that I wasted my time.

The reason I ask this is b/c I have been struggling lately with whether or not to make her a couple of outfits for her b'day (end of March). I have bought the material already but I still can't decide if I want to go through spending my time making outfits that will never be worn or appreciated.

What are your thoughts?
I won't sew for my sister. I altered some dresses for my DN and after I spent my precious time on them (without being paid I might add) she took them to someone that she had to pay and the lady messed up the dress. It was a borrowed dress and DSis couldn't have the dress cut because she had to return it. Well the lady cut the dress and DSis ended up having to pay for the dress. She calls me all the time to fix things for her DD and I tell her no that I can't fix what someone else has made. And another reason I won't sew for her is because the only time she calls me is when she wants something. I used to call her often but she kept rushing me off the phone so I don't call her anymore.

Hi there - do you mind if I join you?

My name is Clare and I'm in the UK and love sewing of any description. Most of my time is spent on patchwork/quilting but I have an 18 week daughter who I want to start making clothes for.

I am very jealous as I've never seen the fab disney fabric in this country so I reckon its time for a visit to WDW just to pop into Joannes while I'm there.

:welcome:

Another outfit to share.... I use the stripwork jumper top, and then use lisazoe's instruction for the skirt. I made it wedges...but when I was done, I realized that there wasn't enough fabric to gather the skirt...but amazingly, the top of the skirt was exactly the same length as the bodice...so I decided to just attached them that way. I think I should have made the strips/wedges bigger...I made it 2 inches on the top and 6 inches on the bottom!

I must add that I got the idea for this outfit from an outfit made by CastleCreation. I really like the yellow and black and minnie dot combo.
That is so adorable. I think I will have to give Lisa's instructions a try.;)

Good morning everyone! Just wanted to share a few things that I have been working on.

This is for my 2 yo ds...I still have to do the buttons/buttonholes.... dh says this is for when he goes meet McQueen and Mater at Hollywood Studios.
IMG_3852p.jpg

The next two are for my dd -
For character lunch at Hollywood & Vine. I made ds a pair of shorts with the same material and am thinking about doing an applique t-shirt for him.

For dd..and I am thinking to wear to Tusker House for breakfast. I had some trouble with the pants for this outfit..took me a while to figure out the front waistband - it has elastic on the back, but not on the front. I still have to do the buttons on this one as well. Do you think I should add anything to this outfit, or just leave it as is?

I am working on a few more things right now, and will post them when I am done. What else do you make for boys other than button down shirts, shorts and applique t-shirts? I don't really enjoy making those button down shirts...

Jenny

I love the Einsteins I gotta find that fabric

Hello, I've missed so much! I did take two serger classes so I will be happy to answer any questions about serging because I am the expert (snort!).

Someone did ask what the different between braided and knitted elastic was and now I know, thanks to a pj class. Braided elastic gets skinnier when you stretch it and knitted elastic does not, so they recommend knitted elastic for lingerie and boxers and stuff like that. Hope that helps whoever asked (I can't remember!). Anyway, tomorrow I have the class "Sewing for my Little Sweetie" and I am very excited about that. Then we go shopping. I bought a little flamingo iron on bling I can't wait to put on a shirt for M.

Here is the promised ECV cover. I still need to press the seams. If you see me at WDW (and I don't see how anyone will miss me now!) say hi!

Where can I find Lisa's instructions?

Amy- Anna said "I love the Strawberry Shortcake outfit" I want one!

The pooh outfits are adorable too!

Everyone is so talented!

I LOVE both of these - I think the plain shirt with the skirt goes really well - I like to pair simple with unique. . . what pattern is that skirt??? TIA!

Cute stuff! I love that cover -- is there just one standard size for ECV seats? My MIL always rents one when we go to Disney and we always have trouble locating it after the CM's move them around.

Where can I find Lisa's instructions?

Tracy, tell Anna thank you!!! I will see if I can find Lisa's instructions for you (if someone doesn't beat me to it). Do you have idea's for what you are wanting to make for Anna & James?

I'm so excited...I just found the FIND of the century...welll okay..maybe not the century, but at least the weekend! I found a Mickey pillowcase that actually has Mickey in a sailor suit...Perfect for those disney cruise outfits...LOL...I guess this was actually a theme for a kids room a long time ago, because someone has the matching wallpaper border listed..

Here are Lisa Zoe's directions for the strips.

I make mine wedge shaped rather than rectangles. What I did was use the markings on my cardboard cutting board (the kind that's about $15 and folds out to about the size of a twin size mattress). It has a section with curved lines that make up a wedge of a circle. I decide the approximate size I want for the top of the wedge and start there to make the wedge the desired length. For these, the bottom width of the wedge is about three times that of the top. I like doing wedges because it allows for a lot more twirl at the bottom without having a lot of gathered fabric where it attaches to the bodice. I've created a few wedge "templates" to use so I use fabric as efficiently as possible. Here's an example of how they'd be layed out on a length of fabric. Of course, it doesn't work out as well with fabric that has an obvious direction to the print.

The skirt is just a made up pattern. I just used materials I already had--so no cost.

I also have a lot of different small print and gingham materials that would coordinate with the shirt. I may make a patchwork skirt for everyday wear.

Hi Clare!

Where in the UK are you? My hubby is from Dorset, my inlaws are still there, DH has uncles in Scotland and in New Castle. My dad is from the Chelmsford area, I still have cousins in that area and in London. We try to get over once every other year.

You know if you can't get over, we might be able to work out a deal, I'll send you fabric if you can send underwear from M&S my hubby refuses to wear American underwear. :lmao: It's a long story which has earned my poor mother-in-law the dubious nickname of Underpant Fairy. :rotfl:

Welcome!

I think most of them are different. I just pinned the material on the back of my ECV (wrong side out), pinned it, sewed it, turned it right side out and painted and put the crystals on! It isn't hard at all. I made a cushion for the seat, too--but that didn't show up in the picture. I put a "handle" on the cushion so I could carry it if I wanted to.

PrincessKell - I just added some photos to show how I construct pants to your thread on the DISBoutiquers board.
