Hello all,
I have to admit...I have been a long-time lurker on this board. In fact, I believe I have been reading since the beginner of Thread 1. Well, I have decided to finally share some things that I made. (Actually, I JUST figured out how to post pics or I would have shared a long time ago).

But, before I do, I have a funny story to tell. Last year, my husband's parents, sister and fam and us, decided to do a Magical Gathering. I was so excited for the kids to go together (my daughter is an only child so I have a lot of Mommy guilt about her not having other kids to play with). SO...here we were planning this fabulous trip and decided I wanted to make my daughter a few customs. Well, I could not leave out my niece who is the same age as my daughter...and then I felt sorry for my nephew... HE might want in on the fun...and then I had to include my other niece (one at the time), so SHE wouldn't be left out. And then this board offered so many cute ideas, my list kept GROWING and GROWING and GROWING until I had made 28 outfits for one trip!!!!!!! :scared1: SICK! And then they need hairbows to match...you all know how this goes.

So I will try to share as many different days as I can, without overloading you all with them all. Here is day one...

(P.S. My daughter is the blonde, Chloe. She is an insane poser when she sees a camera. Please excuse her. My husband claims the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. But I have no idea what he means... ;)

this week!

I can't believe it. I have been working out a little not too much. and eating a little better and just not as big of portions. I could be doing much more. But hey I need time to ease into it, right??

Its raining again. SO no snow this weekend for us! Georgia wanted to do ski lessons. which I was totally excited about. I didnt know how it would go over once we got up there. But we are suppose to be hit with a nice size storm this weekend, and I would hate to be stuck up in the snow. Well I wouldn't but the rest of the family would. haha

Tadamom- Parker looks so cute in the Belle and strawberry shortcake. Great Job!! Did you make the Belle??

Those are bedsheets?!?! How fabulous. I have to find some now.

I have been looking for Peter Pan Bed sheets too. so I will add those to the list!

Hi!
The fabric is actually bedsheets I bought from the Disney store online. They may still have it!

My nightmare is finally over!! I have finished the Ltd too shirt. It's not great, but DD8 loves it and put it on right away! So here it is.
th_IMG_0175-1.jpg

That's really cute! I'll have to add this to my list because I think my dd would love it!

THis is so cute. Great job.
How many fat quarters do you need to make one purse?

You need 3. This was actually fabric from my stash so I had extra. I made the straps a little longer than the pattern.

Welcome and WOO HOO! Fabulous pictures and outfits!! So glad you decided to join us! :cool1:

What a stinking cutie pie! She is loving that camera!!! :rotfl:
That turned out beautiful! GREAT job Deann!!!!

Hey, so...apparently there was some big earthquake in NV this morning and a lot of people felt it around here....SCARY! My MIL sent me a txt early this morning, she lives about 15 mins away, and she felt it....must've been too busy and crazy getting kids off to school-didn't feel it myself! WEIRD!!!! :
Thanks! We think she's pretty cute too!!!

Ok, so first you mention my weight, then you talk about an earthquake?? :confused3 :rotfl:

Seriously though, I hope everyone is ok.
I made this purse last week and finally got the picture off my camera last night. I used the free pattern the came with signing up for the You Can Sew This newsletter. It is so easy and whip-upable!! I did this in about 2 hours. I brought it to my friend who hosted our Girl's Weekend last weekend. I did sew on the button closure, but I had to take the picture before it was done. I bought a ton of fat quarters at the JoAnn's sale to make more of these for Mother's Day, teacher gifts, and my other friends who saw it and had to have one - LOL!

th_PICT0029-1-1.jpg
That turned out great!! I love it!

Poor Megan. Give her hugs from me and Tessa  I LOVE the Marie outfit!!! SOOO cute! Tessa has some of those little butterflies, like the ones on the bows. She actually wrote Arminda a letter and stuck some of them to the outside of the envelope for her. Then, she was upset that I said we'd have to hand deliver it so the butterflies didn't fall off in the mail. Wow, that was a long, pointless story, huh?
Well, it involves both Tessa AND Lydia, so nope not pointless at all!
Yesterday was a bad sewing day for me, too! I cut out all the pieces for Chip and Clarice appliques for Tessa and Sawyer. But, when I assembled them on the pressing sheet, I didn't like the way they looked. So, I'm going to start over. UGH!
I know LisaZoe posted it and you've told me before, but what is the pressing sheet?

Look at that beautiful girl!! I love her Mermaid outfit!! That skirt is too cute!! Gotta love the "Luke"!
A,,w ydabto!
Woops, accidentally switched my keyboard to Dvorak! Let's try that again:
Aww, thanks! I thought the Luke was pretty cute too! The pose and the boy!
LOL! Teresa is the one that is HOT...SSSSSSSSSSS!!!
A young guy told her that a few years ago and she's still basking in the compliment. I am too, I'm her sister after all- and people have told us we look alike.
It was NOT a few years ago! It was June 5, 2007 4:46:07 PM! And, he actually said Hot...sssssssssssssssssssss!!! Yep, I'm still basking!
It took me a minute to realize that UMTerp was your username and not an abbreviation for something. LOL!
:rotfl: I did the same thing!
So I haven't been on much this week I have been trying to tackle the mountain of laundry in the basement- :laundy:
And also because I am having a hard time dealing with the death of a girl I went to h.s. with. She got in a fight with her husband and committed suicide, she didn't die right away, they had her on life support for five days. Her funeral is this weekend and maybe there will be some answers then. I just don't understand it. Why someone would think that would be the best option. Maybe being a mom changes your perspective. I think it is very selfish, and I am angry she did this to her family, but I am also sad that she thought this would solve what ever was wrong. Sorry to bring down the mood here. I need to get back to happier things and figure out how to get past this with out understanding it. Thanks for listening.

I am so very sorry about your friend. Prayer can really help when things don't make sense.

I am sooo sorry to hear about this! I can understand! We had a friend do this in November. We got the call as we were driving to Disney! It was soooo bad, he left behind two daughters and a pregnant wife!

That is so terrible.

My nightmare is finally over!! I have finished the Ltd too shirt. It's not great, but DD8 loves it and put it on right away! So here it is.
th_IMG_0175-1.jpg

not exactly like the picture, but cute none the less.
That turned out adorable!!! I really like it !

Suicide is just so sad. I feel really bad for people who have lost all their hope. In 2006 we knew two people who tried to kill themselves. One was a neighbor and a life flight helicopter came to our neighborhood and took him to the hospital. He survived. Suicide seems to be happening more often. It is just so sad. The other guy left behind a wife and a toddler.
It really is sad, isn't it.

I finally got Parker's Strawberry Shortcake outfit finished. I am super pleased at how it turned out and she loooooooves it!!! She has worn it twice and has gotten tons of compliments on it which makes her excited and makes me feel proud. Anyways, here it is:

Thanks for the advice/ideas that I got from you ladies! I usually do my strips just plain rectagles but this time I did them in the wedges (I hope that is the right term) that Lisa does hers and I also replicated Lisa's button/loop idea. I haven't learned to do button-holes yet and I am definitely askeared to do them. I can say that I will be doing all of them that I can like this again -- super easy and super cute!!!! That Lisa is one smart cookie!!!!

And I also wanted to share some pics that were taken yesterday. Parker was in a Disney Fashion Show yesterday and she was the only princess that they featured -- she was Belle!

That Strawberry Shortcake outfit is seriously adorable!!!!! Lydia loves it too! She was looking over my shoulder oohin and ahhing all over it!!!!

Oh my goodness! Those outfits are ARORABLE!!!! I love love love the way the bright ruffles in the back contrast with the black and white of the front!!! At first I thought it was two different outfits!! Is that the BowzNStuff Triple ruffle halter?

I'm so glad you came out of hiding! :welcome:

Thanks! Yes, it is the Bowznstuff Triple Ruffle Halter dress! Love that pattern!!!

Thanks! I did not make the costume. It is the new Belle dress from the Disney Store. The fashion show was sponsored by the Disney Store.

How fun- how did you get into that??

Thanks Teresa- and I think that I mixed up tessa and lydia. Tessa is cute but I was referring to lydia in the ariel outfit. oopss!!! Sorry

Thanks for all the :grouphug: everyone- I am feeling "better" today. It has been a strange week!! A roller coaster of emotions!!

None to worry about the Tessa /Lydia thing, we do it to them all the time ourselves!

When Heather was little I would sometimes mistakenly call her Pepe, our dog. That was a dog I truly loved! :lovestruc

Very cute and looks like it has lots of twirl. I'm glad the button loops worked out for you. I shouldn't be so worried about making buttonholes but since that happens when the garment is almost done, I always worry I'll mess up and have to make everything over.

Lisa- I am now putting an extra shirt for me in with the extra clothes for my kids:rotfl2: Thanks for the "tip"

You'd think I'd have started doing that too but I didn't learn. When she was smaller, Zoe's gag reflex seemed closely linked to coughing and it seemed to happen on a regular basis, although the zoo experience was the worst by far. Luckily she's outgrown that plus when we go to zoo concerts now, I find a spot where we can make a quick exit if necessary.

Love the sets especially the ruffle dresses. I may have to search for those sheets because I love the graphic look of the black and white.

BTW - Welcome and remember there's no need to apologize for: 1) the state of a child's hair; 2) how the child poses - or not; and 3) the number of photos. :goodvibes

Oh Lisa!!!! How awful!! Of course, I'm laughing about this story, too. I'm sure I wouldn't be if it was me, though!

Oh, I laugh about it now. In fact I told Zoe about it the other day and we both laughed. She didn't remember it, of course, but loves to hear stories from "when she was little". :) This one is right up there with the story of her outrage when Shamu splashed her right in the face as she was enjoying her popcorn. Luckily the popcorn wasn't harmed and Aunt Denise saved the day by purchasing a Shamu towel to dry Zoe's face. She does remember that even even though she was only 2 at the time. I guess Shamu made a big impression. :rolleyes1

Okay, I could not find my pics of the full length of these outfits...I have one more file to check. I will try to post better pics of the outfits, but I have to admit, this was a bad day for us. We were at the Park Formerly Known as MGM, it was about 750 degrees and the kids were TIRED! So, we were only there for about 2 hours and not many pics were taken. Here's what i have:

100_1203.jpg

Dylans had "boy shorts" i.e. long and baggy to match. The girls had little shorts with a ruffle on each leg. The shirts were actually little crops with a ruffle at the bottom.

100_1202.jpg

Better pic of the tops (but not the girls)

100_1201.jpg

Emma's dress had a littel ruffle at the bottom, too.

Okay,
These are defiantely hard to see. I was more interested in getting pics of the kids, not the outfits, but here goes:

100_1166.jpg

Chloe had a neck coolie on...not part of the outfit. Maybe next time I have to make neck coolies to match??????? These are twirl skirts, but hard to tell.

100_1112.jpg

I had their t-shirts made by an :wizard: seller. You can see the back of Emma's dress in this one.

100_1111.jpg

The front of her dress. UNHAPPY GIRL!!!

I will try to post more tomorrow! We are due for a huge snow storm, so what else do I have to do????

How fun- how did you get into that??

Parker is in a playgroup at a mall that runs an 8 wk. playgroup each season, it is called Simon Kidgits club. Each Wednesday has a theme and one of the weeks is always Disney Day! The Disney Store always has a fashion show to show everyone their new things. The lady at the Disney Store loooooves Parker, so she always gets picked to participate in the shows. She has been in about 5 or 6 of their show and some she did with her brother wearing bro/sis matching outfits.

I cooked chicken in the crockpot in diet cherry vanilla Dr. Pepper (and some other ingredients). It was DEE-LICIOUS!!

YUMMERS!!! I want to try...I LOVE my crockpot..use it ALL the time! I love that cherry vanilla myself...:lovestruc

So I haven't been on much this week I have been trying to tackle the mountain of laundry in the basement- :laundy:

Oh, so so so sorry! I'll never understand suicide myself. A very good friend of mine from high school died when we were all turning 30 and it just freaked me out big time. We hadn't talked much since hs, but, we'd seen each other at our 10 yr reunion a couple years before. She left 2 little boys behind...her death was caused by anorexia, yet another illness I don't understand, luckily. I guess we just never really know what someone is going through, we can only empathize and love unconditionally. It's a messed up world, makes me grateful for the friends and family I have so that I never feel that would be my only option. yeesh, sorry for rambling...

My nightmare is finally over!! I have finished the Ltd too shirt. It's not great, but DD8 loves it and put it on right away! So here it is.
