Okay, me again. This board is addicting. My question is: how do you all manage to post so much, sew all those beautiful customs and still have time for life???

Here are the outfits they wore to Crystal Palace. I admit, Dylan's outfit matches, but is not made. He just would not commit to wearing "pooh". Lol.

Emma's dress is just a little pillowcase dress in "baby Pooh" fabric. Chloe insisted on this one:goodvibes

Thanks for eveyone's kind words. You all are the goddesses of customs, so it means a LOT!!!

I made this purse last week and finally got the picture off my camera last night. I used the free pattern the came with signing up for the You Can Sew This newsletter. It is so easy and whip-upable!! I did this in about 2 hours. I brought it to my friend who hosted our Girl's Weekend last weekend. I did sew on the button closure, but I had to take the picture before it was done. I bought a ton of fat quarters at the JoAnn's sale to make more of these for Mother's Day, teacher gifts, and my other friends who saw it and had to have one - LOL!

I love all the pieces that everyone has posted, but this one shouted out to me.

I am working on a shabby chic looking bag using a Simplicity pattern. It's a project for my sewing class. For those who are interested there are many, many free tutorials on www.craftster.org , too.

I think I should have saved my money and just used the free patterns. ;)

What great stuff ladies! I especially love the matching cousins!!!

Here's my vomit story:

A bunch of the moms go get coffee after we drop our kiddos off on the first day of school. So when Drew was 2 we were sitting there and she starts barfing all over this little tiny coffee shop and a mom that I barely knew started catching it in her hands!:scared1: She didn't want it to get on me. She really is so sweet. I don't think I could catch a kid's barf that wasnt' my own. I about died of embarasment though.

Hot sssss story:

Last summer my sister Dana talked my sister Kerry and I into going to her 25 year reunion. We didn't really want to because we were leaving for our girls trip to Disneyland the next morning. So Dana (43) is passing around pictures of her girls (20 & 22) and one of the former "hotties" from her graduating class looked at Kerry (37) and I (34) and asks Dana if we are her daughters! OOOOOHHHHHH Dana was mad.

Here's why I deserved it though....... The summer before I was asked twice if her daughter's were mine!:scared1: Yeah, I had them when I was 12 and 14.

Anyway.... I am hoping that we have school tomorrow because I have a bunch of sewing that I want to get finished up! It is getting pretty hard to sew with Riley home. She is going jammy pants crazy!!!!!:upsidedow

Heather, that recipe looks YUMMY!!!!!!!! Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper is my favorite drink besides Diet Pepsi

I had a pretty good sewing day yesterday. I finally finished an Ariel top for Lily! And I didn't use any of the bunch of Ariel fabrics I already have. I went and bought new stuff! If you ever have "sewers block" just start over with all new fabric! :thumbsup2

IMG_1003.jpg

sorry about the red eye :scared1: pet peeve! But I couldn't get it to "fix" :headache:

I decided just to use Ariel's tail for the back side of the shirt. I cut out a Flounder to applique on the back, but now I think I'm going to make some matching capris and put Flounder on those.

IMG_1006.jpg

And here is another dress I made (thanks mytwotinks for the flower help!) I love it, but unfortunately it is not for Lily. I say I had a good sewing day because I made this WITH NO MISTAKES! Which is fortunate because it is for my neighbor's boutique. ;) And I must say seersucker is much easier to ruffle! :cheer2:

IMG_1046.jpg

Sorry they are sideways and huge. I rotated and resized them. I don't know what is the problem with photbucket today, but I was having problems with the photos on my TR too :confused3 :headache:

Did you applique Ariel or did you just cut the pattern out of the pillowcase? Or did you even use a pillowcase? It is really pretty!

THe pink dress is cute too!

HELP!!Ok, now that I've got your attention I need your help! My 8 year old has her birthday next month. The original plan was to have it at the local college activity center. They've got an indoor pool and you can rent a classroom to have your party in. Well I just found out today that they no longer rent out classrooms and you can't have cake or presents by the pool. My daughter really wants to have a pool party. So the only other thing that I've come up with is to have a quick party at our house with cake and ice cream, open presents and then everyone will meet up at the activity center and go swimming. The only thing is that it's 20 miles from my house to the activity center. I don't know what to do. It would have been so much easier to just have it all at one place. Do you think people will still come if they have to go to two seperate places? Or should we just nix the whole cake/presents and hand out goodie bags when it's time to leave the pool? I need ideas ladies!!!! (and Tom :) )
Is there a McDonald's or another restaurant that will host the cake and presents part near the pool? Then you can swim at the activity center before or after the restaurant. Sounds like fun!

Okay, me again. This board is addicting. My question is: how do you all manage to post so much, sew all those beautiful customs and still have time for life???
First let me say that I love the customs that you have posted so far.

Second I sew at night and on the weekends. Some weekends I don't get anything done. Luckily I can sew quick otherwise I wouldn't get anything done.

I am SOOO loving all your outfits!!! I'm so glad you came out of lurkdome to show us!!!
WELCOME!!! You will it here! This is definitely my happy place!!
How silly is it that reading that made me all choked up??In a good way, not a Zoe at the zoo kind of way! :rotfl2:
And are you sure it was 4:46:07 pm? Once when I was in college, I was on a long bus ride and a guy passed me a very complimentary note as he got off the bus. I have to confess I kept it in my wallet for a LOOOONG time!We think you are a hottie Teresa, but I guess that's just not the same, is it?
Let me check my notes......Yep, 4:46:07 PM ;)
I will take any and every compliment I can get!!!!! And woo hoo for you! I love it that you carried the note around!
**I have lost a total of , are you ready for this

6.2 LBS
this week!
WOWZA!!!!! That is fantastic!!!!!
Finally caught up - I was kicked out of the dis last night - must have been doing maintenance or something (darn being on the other side of the world with the time difference).
500g weightloss for me - ummmmm think that is 1lb not sure. But Yahoooo for all the mama's doing so well I need to focus more (and not eat cheesecake for breakfast silly DH bringing it into the house
Happy sewing everyone :)
Congrats on the weight loss!!!!
They were doing something weird with the boards last night.
I love that Ariel outfit! So simple and adorable! That looks like the same Ariel that's on the "back" of Tessa's shirt :) Sorry Heather, I couldn't resist
:rotfl2:
Here's a link to the teflon pressing sheet that I have:
http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog.jsp?CATID=cat3591&PRODID=xprd74112&source=search
I used my 40% off coupon on it once and got it for about $5. You put it on top of the applique pattern or picture you're using. It's see-through, so you can use the pattern as a guide as to where to put the pieces. Then, you peel off the heat 'n bond paper off the back of the applique pieces you've already cut and assemble them on top of the pressing sheet, sealing them together with the iron as you go. So, when you're done, you can peel the applique off of the pressing sheet, all in one piece! It's the coolest thing! It won't "unstick" the applique, so it will still adhere to the outfit when you iron it on.
That sounds very cool!
It's no problem! We do it all the time. I think Teresa just did it a few posts up when she mixed Arminda up with Lydia!
I'm sure I did!
:rotfl2: Great, now she won't stop talking about THAT for a year!
You know it!
100acreprincess: You've been in the cool club all along!
I was thinking the same thing!
DIET CHERRY VANILLA DR. PEPPER CROCK POT CHICKEN
That sounds delicious!

How many adults do you have watching the kids in the pool? Pools scare me unless there is an adult for every two kids or so. Too many kids die in pools. Is it a very small group? There was a little boy that we knew who drowned on a class trip to a local pool, I believe he was 11. (and I've been very close to three children that have drowned in pools) So, I would urge you to really VERY carefully please weigh the risks of the pool party.

I love crafster! I've bookmarked lots of their things! They have a nice index of their projects that I bookmarked too. They even have a child/baby section! It's great!

What great stuff ladies! I especially love the matching cousins!!!

Okay, I could not find my pics of the full length of these outfits...I have one more file to check. I will try to post better pics of the outfits, but I have to admit, this was a bad day for us. We were at the Park Formerly Known as MGM, it was about 750 degrees and the kids were TIRED! So, we were only there for about 2 hours and not many pics were taken. Here's what i have:

th_100_1203.jpg

Dylans had "boy shorts" i.e. long and baggy to match. The girls had little shorts with a ruffle on each leg. The shirts were actually little crops with a ruffle at the bottom.

th_100_1202.jpg

Better pic of the tops (but not the girls)

Emma's dress had a littel ruffle at the bottom, too.

This is still one of my favorite fabrics! They look great!

Okay,
These are defiantely hard to see. I was more interested in getting pics of the kids, not the outfits, but here goes:

th_100_1166.jpg

Chloe had a neck coolie on...not part of the outfit. Maybe next time I have to make neck coolies to match??????? These are twirl skirts, but hard to tell.

th_100_1112.jpg

I had their t-shirts made by an :wizard: seller. You can see the back of Emma's dress in this one.

th_100_1111.jpg

The front of her dress. UNHAPPY GIRL!!!

I will try to post more tomorrow! We are due for a huge snow storm, so what else do I have to do????

Gotta love that Minnie Dot! Again, too cute!

I had a pretty good sewing day yesterday. I finally finished an Ariel top for Lily! And I didn't use any of the bunch of Ariel fabrics I already have. I went and bought new stuff! If you ever have "sewers block" just start over with all new fabric!

I was going to suggest the same thing as Nancy (Dreamer & Wisher) about some place nearby that could possibly do it! And another thought, I know it is exactly the same thing but what about doing cupcakes. I know at Wal-Mart you can buy individual cupcake boxes and then you could pass them out with the goodie bags when they are leaving.

Thanks for eveyone's kind words. You all are the goddesses of customs, so it means a LOT!!!

I love the two older girls outfits! I just bought some material today that is intended for an outfit almost exactly like that.

I haven't posted in a few days, but beautiful outfits everyone!

Also, I did WW a few years back and lost 67 lbs (and gained a lot of it back after DD) So I know how hard it is. WTG on the good weight losses!!! Maybe watching how you are all doing will motivate me to get myself back to it.

I still have a few more outfits I want to make for our upcoming trip. If we get the predicted snow, I am going to make a thing or two this weekend and will post when I am done. Tomorrow, though, is my big day as newest niece is scheduled to join us at noon!! I'm so excited I can't wait to meet her. My SIL found out she was pregnant the third day into our WDW trip last year, so I've been in on this ride from the very beginning. I feel like it's been an even longer 9 mos than my own pregnancies :rotfl2:

Did anybody else go to the Warehouse Sale @ Hancock's today (it runs through Sunday I believe). I had forgotten that they were having it today but had planned to go just to scope out fabric for future purchases. Imagine my surprise when things that I had already been scoping out were on sale!!!! Woohoo -- I love a good sale! I spent $36.00 and got lots of great stuff!!!

Hi again,
Now that I have officially contributed, I do not feel so bad asking for help. (I will try to get the rest of the pics up ASAP...sorry if you guys are tired of those 4 faces already:) )

Back to the help...I am DYING to try to applique a character face but I have NO IDEA how to start. I have read instructions posted, but I am still unclear. Does anyone have a site/link to show a step by step with pictures. Something like "this yellow is the hair. this is what to do. next comes the pink bow in the hair. this is what to do. blah, blah, blah". I am just such a visual person, I can not read and apply. DUH!!!

TIA!

We don't have a Hancock's around here. Very jealous! I love new fabric, especially at a great price!:thumbsup2

Oh my goodness!! I have to tell you all that I am just so impressed with all of your skills!! I'm quite jealous too, lol!:goodvibes

I had my husband buy me a sewing machine about three years ago. I tried to teach myself, but I confess it was just too complicated for me. Especially when my machine was constantly messing up with the thread. So of course I gave up. But really, ever since I was a kid I've wanted to know how to sew, and I confess, I still really really do! I just don't know how I'll ever "get it", lol! By chance do any of you live in Corona, CA or nearby?? I'd love some lessons!

Also, does anyone do custom work for profit? I have a very big (tall) 9 year old daughter that is wearing size 14 1/2 clothes (at least that's the size from Limited too) or if not half sizing, a size 16/18. I'm planning on gonig to the PP&P party when we go to DW in May for the first time, and we'll also be doing BBB the same day. I would love for her to have a princess dress, but there is no way I can find one in her size. That's another reason I would love to know how to sew, so I can teach my daughters how to make their own stylish clothes. We're a very tall family and finding clothes in that fit us right is soooo difficult, and when we do it's usually frumpy looking. Sigh....

Thanks,
Jan

Did you applique Ariel or did you just cut the pattern out of the pillowcase? Or did you even use a pillowcase? It is really pretty!

THe pink dress is cute too!

Thanks! The Ariel on the peasant top is the wall-hanging panel from the fabric department at Walmart. The Ariel pants applique (I think Heather asked?) is one of the big appliques from Joanns. I just finished Lily's matching "capris" which turned out a little longer than I wanted. And good thing I planned a Flounder applique because I had a little serger "accident" :rolleyes1 You'd think after 3 times I'd be a little more careful!

Did you check the bookmarks? I know some of those have pictures, but I'm not sure if they are detailed enough. LisaZoe was thinking of doing an applique tutorial with pictures, maybe she can help you out.

CUTE CUTE! Flower turned out great! HELP ME with my serger...I'm SCARED!!!! :scared1: pweeeeeeese!!!!!

YUMMERS!!! I want to try...I LOVE my crockpot..use it ALL the time! I love that cherry vanilla myself...:lovestruc

[\QUOTE]

Okay, here's the recipe! It's a core recipe for Weight Watchers. I served it with some fancy brown rice. The original recipe called for root beer. But, you could use cherry PEPSI, or try something else all together.

DIET CHERRY VANILLA DR. PEPPER CROCK POT CHICKEN

4-8 Chicken breasts
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 cup Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper
1 cup kethup
1/4 cup lemon juice
3 tbs worcestershire sauce
3 tbs brown sugar twin
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder

Mix everything but the chicken together and add it to the crock pot. Brown the chicken in a little bit of oil first and then put it in the crock pot. Cook it in the crock pot until it's done. I took the chicken out and put it on a plate, then transferred the sauce into a saucepan and boiled it until it thickened up. Then, I spooned a little on top of the chicken. It was REALLY good! My husband even really liked it and he doesn't like "weird stuff".

THANK YOU!!!!!

So, I have to share a sad story :sad1:
A friend of mine was in a very serious accident yesterday (for you locals, it was the big one that shut down Bangerter during rush hour)...her baby girl passed away early this morning. She was 4. They were hit by a 16 yr old. My heart is breaking for all of them. I keep thinking of little Ashton and her sweet little smile. GO HUG THOSE BABIES! :grouphug:
