Disboutiquers part 3 (Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes)

Not open for further replies.
Here are my kids in their first finished outfits for our September trip. They are finding nemo fabric from Walmart.

Sorry for the terrible pics, they're both sick and I was waiting for a good day to take a pic and then just gave up and settled for some quickies. Didn't feel like getting my flash out so they are not very good quality images but hopefully you can still see the outfits :)

"let me see that Pamper baby" hopefully she'll be out of diapers by Disney, not holding my breath lately as she is afraid of the potty :confused3

And lastly, did some cleaning and organizing this past weekend so I thought I would share my sewing space, not great pics or anything but I had to try to photograph only the neat side of the room :rotfl:

For those who might want to know, the halter dress is from YCMT pattern for triple ruffle halter dress. Cam's pants are Carla C's Easy Fit pants, best ebook I've ever had the pleasure of using BTW, I did use my embroidery machine to do the applique, I don't applique by hand and I sew with an Innovis 1000 by Brother.

Oh those are just beautiful! I love the princess set. :goodvibes

First of all I am in the middle of the posts that I missed out on the last 3 days. So far excelent work everyone. Now on to my big ??? today.

Has anyone every made a Higgleytown Heroes applique or outfit. I bought all the play sets for the twins bday and I thought it would be cute to make a top or outfit for them. I have until may to come up with something or just let it go.:confused3 TIA

Hi - you could always go over to the creative Dis designs boards and ask someone to make an iron on for you that you could just iron on to tshirts!!! they come out really cute!!!

Well, I am hesitant to even show you this after seeing beautiful Drew in her shirred outfit, but here goes. I got this cute plaid fabric 40% off at JoAnn's and bought a ton, thinking I would do matching family outfits for Disney in April. I was vetoed by both male members of the family, so here are Megan and me.

IMG_0117.jpg

IMG_0119.jpg

Megan wanted mickey heads on the pockets of the shorts (eek white!) but you can't see them! Oh well.

IMG_0118.jpg

Oh, and I made this for a customer's little boy. I thought it came out cute. I bought one of the fancy pliers and did snaps for the first time. It was fun!

IMG_0108.jpg

I will try to catch up later, hope Teresa is home and resting comfortably. I bought Jacob a new tennis racket and he wants me to play with him outside. I think this will consist of me chasing tennis balls around our cul de sac, lol. Hope everyone has a great Monday!

I love the plaid! Super preppy.

Steph, you and Megan look darling! The guys may think differently when you and Megan are getting all kinds of compliments in your custom outfits! And I love the little jumper you did - the snaps look great!

OK, surprise! I made ANOTHER apron top (and have a couple more planned.) They're just so quick and easy and cute - hope you all don't get tired of seeing them! :rotfl:

fell in love with this fabric - it's a little boyish looking, but i still love it!
owlfront.jpg

new and improved and shorter! ties for the back - you know, to prevent the dreaded wet ties!
owlback.jpg

This is the wrap skirt from YCMT. The sizes only go up to a 3, but I think it would be easy enough to make in a larger size. Oh, and the had it the pageboy also from YCMT.

OK, told the kids I would play some wii with them. Is it sad that DS is far better than I am? I am truly pitiful at video games. Oh well, we'll have some fun!

I think the owls are great! Sometimes a girl needs something other than pink and purple in her wardrobe.

Where did you get that beautiful fabric that you used on the skirt? I might have to run and get it tomorrow if you bought it locally.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the plaid!!! Love it!!! It's the Celtic girl in me I suppose, but I think plaids look fresh and fabulous on anyone!!!

Can I also just say that I am BEYOND green with envy that y'all are sassing around outside in shorts and tees and cute bare feet?!

It's still North Face weather up here!! I have a fire in the fireplace at the moment...layers on...shivering...chillywilly am I!

Love the little Mickey romper too!!

:goodvibes :goodvibes

Okay, I'm still catching up and I know I missed some of you, but everything really has been outstanding. I want to quote them all!

I really like all of your purchases! Those 3 spring fabrics are VERY cute and I think I want that skirt pattern for myself!!

Love the outfit and that baby girl just makes me smile - such a cutie!

You did a great job on these!! I love how they all coordinate. I hear you on the cold weather. I hate having to wear boots with Easter dresses.

What fun tops! I can tell your DD is totally thrilled with hers!!

Ok here are the pics of what I have been up to.

S2010091.jpg

The skirt that I made using the fabric from Camelotcats. DD loves this and I do have a shirt planned for her also.
S2010090.jpg

A little fairy outfit. This is made with one of those pre-shirred peices. I appliqued some of the fairies onto one of the pants legs.
S2010089.jpg

This dress is for :wizard: . I made it using the Daisy Kingdom pattern and the Pooh Bear toile fabric.
S2010088.jpg

S2010087.jpg

I made three of these tops. One for DD, one for her half-sister and one for her cousin. I still have to make three pairs of capris to go with them. The little poofs on the front are hair bows. I also made three sets of these.
S2010086.jpg

This dress is also for :wizard: .
S2010085.jpg

This outfit is for DD. She wants to wear it to Crystal Palace. I altered the Daisy Kingdom pattern a bit to make this into a top.
S2010083.jpg

This is what I made for DD today.
S2010084.jpg

She wanted everyone to see the bows that I put on the side of the capri bottoms. There is also a yellow butterfly button on each leg.

Teresa - I lost Heather's post about your porcedure today, but wanted to say that I hope all went well and that you aren't in too much pain. Take Care!

That is so cute!

Was is you and your clients who made the bags?? I guess I lost those too... Anyway, looks like it was a fun project for all of you!

These are SO cute! I love the fabrics you chose for the ruffles on the back! I really love the pillow case pants too. They match the top so well. Your organized area has me drooling! Nice space!!

Okay, I love the shorts and t, but I totally expected to see you in a darling shirred top like Megan's!! I think you'd look good in that style.

I like the wrap top and I don't think it's boyish at all. The skirt and hat are SO DARN CUTE!!! The fabrics are so pretty and everything just works together perfectly. WOW!

I love all of your projects. I have a question about the pageboy hat. I bought the hat pattern also, but I don't know what size to use for DD. What size did you use for your DD?

I made DD a size large - she wears a size 3T in clothes. I'm pretty sure there are measurements within the pattern, though. I had to read through a couple of times before I saw the sizes.

LOVE the apron top! I love the waist band and tie on the the wrap skirt. Is that how the pattern came, or did you adjust it? I've not paid much attention to the pattern because my DD needs a size 4, but if that is how it comes, I may buy it and attempt an adjustment.

The actual pattern that you print is for the skirt only, but within the directions, she tells you how to cut out and attach the belt. I think you could easily adjust the pattern for a larger size. It's also a pretty fast project.

I think the owls are great! Sometimes a girl needs something other than pink and purple in her wardrobe.

Where did you get that beautiful fabric that you used on the skirt? I might have to run and get it tomorrow if you bought it locally.

I got the skirt fabric at JoAnn's in Independence, but I'm sure they'd have it at the OP store. I think I'm remembering that you're on the KS side, right? In fact, I may be out that way this evening (to another of my addictions - Archiver's) I could stop in JoAnn and see if they have it, if you want.

Wow! You have been very busy! EVERYTHING looks great! My favorite is the one with the little flower fairies at the border. So cute!

I just had to pop in and say I don't sew a lick but I love to watch this thread and ooo and ahhhh! I'm a photographer so I do have SOME creative talent, just not with a sewing machine. ;)
Hey, I just saw you on another thread and was admiring your cool avatar picture! :welcome:! You should try your hand at sewing something, you might surprise yourself! I couldn't sew at all 8 months ago!

Tell Megan that Tessa said she looks really cute and that I think she is looking FIERCE! I love your plaid outfits. You two will look so sweet together! Too bad the guys are going to miss out.

I'm thinking I really like the idea of something that just pops snaps on for you! I hate to hand-sew anything, but I like snaps!! The Mickey JonJon is too cute!

My mom has Teresa's kids for the evening, so hopefully she's at home popping vicodin and getting some rest!

How many licks DOES it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop? :rotfl: Oh, I cracky myself up. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that owl fabric!! It's so 70's and retro looking. So cute! I also love the skirt and hat! Tessa said she wants me to make one of those now- thanks a lot!

Wow, you HAVE been busy! What a bunch of cute stuff! I think my favorite is the pooh toile dress. How cute! I think your Pooh toile is a slightly different color than the stuff I have. Mine is brighter blue. Yours is so subtle and pretty!

I'm thinking of using this fabric to make matching shirts for the guys on our trip. What do you all think? It's on fabrics.com, if anyone feels a burning need to have some of it! :rotfl:

Yeah the fabric was a lot lighter than I thought it was going to be, but it is a really pretty blue.

When I first saw that fabric I thought you were going to be asking for bra opinions. :lmao:

I had a multi quote going! Have no idea where it went!

glorib - Love the owl fabric! Super cute!

Stephres - Love the plaid! Love the matching! You have been nusy and I like the shirring it is great!

HeatherSue - funniest fabric ever!!!!:rotfl:

Tinka_Belle - WOW ! You are whipping them out! Love them and expecially the toille!

and yes I went to :wizard: with the patriotic outfit! Thanks everyone for telling me I should and wish me luck!

Remember when you're printing a YMCT pattern to set scaling to NONE! It's always set to 'scale to fit page' around here.

So I made a size 6 which is, politely, form fitting and a bit short. But it's probably a 5. The question of the hour - do I make it bigger? (Add width by ripping the side seams) or do I give it up? Good thing I made one before committing an applique to it!

What's even more frusterating is that I measured DD before making it! Generally I make an 8 and then cut it down. This time I made a 6 and lengthened it.

On the up side, no more Pop for me! Been there, done that, got a great rate at AKL by shortening my trip by one day! Which I needed to do anyways as there's family coming into town. I'm excited!

Okay here is the Hannah montanna'ish Jumper i made for jayedyn's friend Of course i only have a picture of the Not finished one because i forgot to take a picture of it finished ..(even after Utahmama reminded me )

and here is jayedyn's she wanted to help so i let her, She sat on my lap and did the applique and also sewed the star buttons on the pop (she did such a great job )you can't really see but the iron on after the pop say's princess she thought of that also so i guess in a way all i did was sew the strips and supervise ...

WARNING! THE FOLLOWING COMMENTS WERE TYPED WHILE MEDICATED RAMBLING MAY HAVE OCCURED
Yeah, like that would be anything unusual!!!!:rotfl2:

You ladies have certainly been busy! Here is the latest that I've finished. I wasn't sure if Drew would be interested in wearing the shirred top, but she said she loved it!
th_October3010.jpg
That is really adorable!! I love all those fabrics together!

I start my journey to getting my teeth fixed this week i get to go to the dentist today for root scaling and cleaning (to get my gums all healthy for my implants)
Then tommorow I go for Extractions of my broken teeth and then we go from there (let's just say when i am all finished i will be able to smile again without a hole in my mouth But i will have paid the same amount as a used car it's all worth it for me (my self -esteem has gone down alot) who knew a smile was so important..... so i probably won't be on alot .
I so understand. I feel so self conscious about my teeth. I hate to smile and laugh anymore, and when I'm talking to people, I feel like they are always looking at my teeth (or lack thereof). I just want to put a hand up over my face. Meeting new people is really scary. I can't wait to have a full mouth of teeth again. I will be thinking about you this week.

I am currently sitting in the waiting room of Teresa's oral surgeon. She's having several teeth taken out. One of them was infected really bad and the infection was spreading throughout her body. So she had been feeling really lousy for a while. I'm not sure exactly what they're doing to her today. It'll be a few weeks before they give her a bridge with her new teeth. So, she's really self-conscious about missing a few teeth for a while. Poor Teresa. She looks beautiful no matter what.
I love you!

Those turned out so cute! How sweet!

Poor thing!! I hope she'll be feeling no pain for the next little while! Tooth pain and infection is some of the worst kind of pain in this world! You are a good sister to wait! I went with my little sister when she had a terribly infected wisdom tooth. The oral surgeon came out and said she was asking for me. When I went in she said: "Sissy will you sing to me?" High as a kite...you know what she wanted to hear?! A song from Mary Poppins...the Stay awake song! So I sang to her. The Oral surgeon was cracking up laughing...said we were a first!

There is something about sisters.

Wishing your sis no pain and a speedy recovery!!
That is so very sweet! Yes, she was very sweet to take me, espcially since we had no idea how long it was going to take!

Heather...Tell Teresa I'm jealous of her new diet! (Trying to look for the good of having teeth pulled!)
Love, Pollyanna
Heather read this to me when I came out of the office, and yep, it made me laugh!!! Thanks!

Here is what I helped my ladies make at work yesterday- One of the ladies is going on a trip in a couple weeks to the Twins spring training in FL
47b8dd31b3127cceb65a4767e17300000036101AZsXLhszbMY
We decorated them last weekend then I sewed them for the ladies yesterday- yep that's right I got paid to sew
That is so neat that you get to sew at work! Those turned out great!

And I finally got the Dora Jumper dress Mostly finished- Still have to hem and add the buttons. I chickened out on appliqueing the face, well I just did the nose. I was scared to mess up her mouth and eyes!
47b8dd31b3127cceb65a498b60a800000025101AZsXLhszbMY
I love it!!! Very very cute!

I love the outfits, especially the Nemo dress!!!
Tell Teresa I hope she feels better soon. I had 7 out at one time last October so I can empathize completely! She will feel better for getting those infected ones out though.

Delaney did great at the dentist today.
Thanks! Ouch, 7 at once! Yeah for Delaney being such a big girl!

I love looking at all the beautiful, beautiful items you all make by hand! I wish I had half your talent. I'm currently taking a sewing class, because I can only make a pillowcase ( and being my age- I already forgot the way the lady showed me-duh) and tab cortains! I'm soo inspired by you all.I love all the pics I get to see. Keep up all your hard work-your an insipation for those of us that are sewing challanged!
:welcome:
It's fixed! I took her to a pediatric dentist today, and they did an x-ray and said that she doesn't appear to have damaged the permanent tooth. Also, the broken part was only the enamel, so no damage to the dentin or nerve!! They roughed her little tooth up a bit and then squirted this goop on it and shaped it to look like the other tooth. Then they put that blue light thingy on it to harden it up. And just like that, she looks brand new! She was sooooo good didn't fuss, cry, pull away, or anything. I was such a proud mama!

Yeah!!!! I'm glad it was fixed so easily!
There is just something about sisters!! How sweet that you sang to yours!!! They didn't have to knock Teresa out, so she looked pretty good when they were done. But, she was starting to feel some pain a few hours later.

I read your post to her and it made her laugh through the gauze.

Yep, something about sisters! I'm not feeling much pain right now, but I am feeling a bit loopy after taking the Vicadin! And, I see that a swollen face is a GREAT way to get rid of those troublesome wrinkles around your mouth!!

I just had to pop in and say I don't sew a lick but I love to watch this thread and ooo and ahhhh! I'm a photographer so I do have SOME creative talent, just not with a sewing machine. ;)
:welcome: to you too! Please share a few pictures with us!

Ok, what did you do with Scrappy? I don't see him!

I slept most of the afternoon, after I got home, and am feeling a bit out of it. Brian was trying to talk to me and ask me questions when he got home, but I think he realized I wasn't comprehending, so he just sat with me on the couch instead! He said he is going to make me some soup in a minute. He's such a wonderful husband!

The little JonJon is adorable!! I may have to look into getting one of those little gadgets too!

OK, surprise! I made ANOTHER apron top (and have a couple more planned.) They're just so quick and easy and cute - hope you all don't get tired of seeing them! :rotfl:

For those who might want to know, the halter dress is from YCMT pattern for triple ruffle halter dress. Cam's pants are Carla C's Easy Fit pants, best ebook I've ever had the pleasure of using BTW, I did use my embroidery machine to do the applique, I don't applique by hand and I sew with an Innovis 1000 by Brother.

The lighting on your pictures is just beautiful. Do you mind sharing what kind of camera and flash you use?

I really like this! I love plaids!!!

fell in love with this fabric - it's a little boyish looking, but i still love it!

This is really cute! The owls are great!!!

This is the wrap skirt from YCMT. The sizes only go up to a 3, but I think it would be easy enough to make in a larger size. Oh, and the had it the pageboy also from YCMT.

I LOVE this skirt! Love your fabric choices! Perfect!

I have no idea how to multiquote, but wanted to say how great everyones work is. I love all of the super girly twirly skirts and dresses. I think that I would be in a lot of trouble if I had a girl. Which brings me to my next point. . .

YOU GUYS ARE A BAD INFLUENCE (bad for my bank account anyway). Before discovering this thread, I hadn't planned to make any outfits for our trip, that's right zero, nothing, nada. Well. . . . that has all changed now. I spent a good deal of the weekend sewing (and decided to teach myself to applique). here are some of the results:

Outfits- Cooper has his initials on his jumper. I think that I might make him a few more for summer. It was super easy, inexpensive and cute! Only problem is going potty. He always wants me to go with him anyway, so it wouldn't be much different. I don't really like J's top. I think that I am going to take it up a bit. I don't like working with knit I have discovered.

Close up of the applique- my very first one. The bottom is puckered out and not as crooked as it looks (althought I know it is very far from perfect for sure).

Jackson's outfit for DHS- Cooper has a pair of little einsteins shorts and will get some short of shirt that has yet to be decided

Cooper's outfit for Ohana breakfast. Jackson is getting a similar cheesy Hawaian shirt (they picked out the fabric)

And to get them to cooperate for pictures, I had to promise to take pics of what they wanted- like pokemon/power ranger moves

and sweet brother hugs (awwww)

Lastly, my 2nd attempt at applique. Note to self- double check the writing device before using. The nose looks like a snot nose because one very naughty 5 year old replaced my washable marker with a sharpie! A sharpie! this was practice anyway, so I guess it will just be PJs. I plan to make a shirt like this for both boys with some sort of pirate shorts.

I rotated/cropped the pics and I hope it shows up.

Thanks guys for all the inspiration. My kids wouldn't have looked nearly as cute for our upcoming trip!
