Disappointed in BCV

Just returned from a 6 nite stay, 3 at BCV and 3 at SSR (our home). Please don't flame me, this was just our personal experience (I hope). We had a 1 BR. Checked in, started unpacking, opened the drawer on the nightstand and there was a drawer FULL of women's undies, bras and swimsuits. No problem, we'll take them to lost and found. Went to the bathroom, and found an unemptied trash can .... FULL of dirty diapers!! OK, so we'll call Housekeeping... but the phone doesn't work! In fact, NEITHER phone works! So, down to the front desk (to speak to the cute little French guy, but I digress...;) ). Housekeeping did come up in aobut 15 minutes, so can't complain about that. Phone guy had to come twice, but we had service restored that evening.
Then we found a bunch of dirty dishes that someone had just put away dirty (I'm talking food still on them, not just poorly washed). And later that evening, had to switch the lightbulb in the lamp next to the bed with one from the living room, because that didn't work either. We just sucked those problems up and didn't say anything else.

We stayed at BCV once before, and had problems then too. We're easy to please and complain (nicely) only when necessary. Just hoping others don't have similar problems with poor housekeeping. By the way, our stay at SSR was PERFECT!

Did you formally complain about all the problems ..like to SUM it up after all the problems were fixed. I be they would have comped you some points or something. I would call the manager and report all that you said here. We had a perfect stay in late July. I am sorry that yours was less than perfect. I would make a point of letting someone know......

I don't blame you one bit. It sounds like the front desk assigned you a room that hadn't been cleaned yet. Serious miscommunication issue. I would have been furious.

I would have been very disappointed. I checked into BCV on Thursday. When I got to the room, within 15 minutes the CM who checked me in called to ask if there was anything he could do for me, and if I had any problems at all I should alert him and he would take care of it. There also was a recorded message from the manager of BC/BCV welcoming us and asking to let her know if there was anything she could do for us.

I had no problems. Did you get similar calls as I did at BCV? I would think that they would have taken care of everything to your satisfaction. It sounds as if your room was not cleaned before you entered.

We got the same phone message and we also got a "departing message" and we got a post card survey too.

That happened to us about 3 yrs ago at BCV. It was about 10:00 pm and we were exhausted from traveling all day. But management sent us to Beaches and Cream (while they cleaned the room) and told us there would be a $75 credit on our bill. I thought that's the least they could do!! In all our stays at BCV, that's our only "bad" experience!

So sorry to hear about your bad experience! That is awful, but it sounds like you did not let it ruin your vacation- good on you!

I'm sorry too but no one has addressed the real issue!!! The case of the drawer full of woman's undies!!! :lmao: Someone out there is missing some serious garments ..............

And to answer the question of did we get the welcome call? Well no... no phone service. And I forgot to mention the horrible, very large whitish stain in the middle of the blue sofa. And the balcony furniture that was so dirty we couldn't sit on it, and didn't want to spend the time it would have taken to clean the chairs off.
I'm going to have to rethink about notifying the manager of our concerns. I thought I'd do it when they sent the email survey, but we checked out on 9/17 and haven't had an email yet.

That sounds like the room we had in August. Our phones didn't work either, neither did the alarm clocks. I guest the folks before us unplugged them, so we had to figure out how to reset them. We had the same stain on our sofa. Maybe all sofas look like that. We had a dedicated 2 bedroom, so it can't be the same room. Of course we also had tacks sticking out of the carpet where the carpet was torn away from the trim, also a broken dishwasher and stopped up drains in both bathrooms. (BTW: we did call in all of our issues, but after awhile it felt like we were always calling in, esp. the first day.) We had a good time....well Fay came in the next day and we pretty much stayed around the resort, also never got in SAB....OK, maybe not the best stay we've ever had, but still better than working.

Housekeeping issues all through the DVC resorts and yet they continue to build and build, I simply do not understand it. :sad2:

We had a similar experience at OKW. It can happen at any resort and management needs to hear about it. They can't correct it if they don't know about it. K9pal and n2mm, I hope you reported everything ... and I hope they rest of your vacation went better than that!

With that many issues, I think I would have asked for a new room. That way its out of your hands and they could have given it a proper overhaul without guest in their way ;)

One reason might be that a lot of people (not OP) seem to be very reluctant to require appropriate service and properly cleaned accommodations. THAT is what I do not understand.

One doesn't have to go ballistic, but IMO one has a responsibility to their investment and to the rest of their DVC brethren to address the problem right away and see to it that its corrected. If management doesn't know about it, its going to continue and likely get worse...which from all accounts appears to be the case.

This isn't just a DVC phenomenon. I'll never understand why people who pay for a service are afraid of demanding that even the lowest of standards are met.

Sounds like our stay at VWL in April 2008. We had the dirty dishes in our cupboard as well ... I was so ticked off. Who wants to start a vacation like that?! We spent 2 hours on the phone with various managers trying to remedy the situation. Not very magical.

My parents checked into their studio 3 days later to find the toiletries missing (Mom went to wash her hands and noticed that there was no soap) and a trashcan that had not been emptied.

We were planning to add on prior to our April vacation ... when we got home we started discussing selling our contract. DVC housekeeping is very poor in my opinion. I thought it was just VWL.:sad2:

To the OP. we also checked out of BCV on 9/17 and we were honeslty not impressed with the resort. our issues with the resort were more with the staff than the housekeeping. we emailed dvcmembersatisfaction and called our guide right away. as we speak my DF is getting ready to call Dvc membersatisfaction back to provide further feedback for them

Please, tell DVC about your experience at BCV! They really need to hear about such housekeeping issues.

Thanks for this address, I didn't know it existed. I've sent them an email detailing our problems at BCV, and also let them know that the remainder of our stay at SSR was nearly perfect. The automated response says they will respond within 5 days.

You are all correct that we need to provide feedback abut our investment, good or bad. Thanks!

we had a bug issue here in fall of '06 trip (enought to nix our addon here) that wasn't addressed by mgmt in a timely manner-never did speak to mgr only an assistant i corralled in the lobby

called my guide, who said i needed to write to the executive offices re our experience. They called me promptly & indicated that the mgr on duty had been 'severely' disciplined & reassigned...wonder if he's back:laughing:

fyi, no compensation offered, nor did i request or expect any...crap happens, just need to alert Disney so it doesn't snowball or become the norm imo!
