Hi all! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I'm not feeling supremely confident that I'll see a good number this Friday, but it is too early to tell right now. Let's just say two Mother's Day meals (complete with cake both times) is not the way to lose weight.

But on a happier note, we saw the musical Spamalot this weekend, which is based on (or as they put it "A new musical (lovingly) ripped off from the motion picture") Monty Python and the Holy Grail, which just happens to be one of my favorite movies ever. It was hilarious!

Anyway, on to more important business - week 1 of our July 4th challenge. Let me know if I missed or misquoted you...

Hey Peeps!

I woke up this morning with nausea and I cant burp..I feel weird????!!! Is this acid reflux???? or am i getting paranoid I am getting sick less than 48 hours before i am suppose to leave!!!!

It sounds like that could be the case...if so no worries, just get over the counter meds, like Prilosec. Should feel better in a day or two.

my paranoia took the best of me and i went to the doctor. she told me i burnt the lining in my esphogus from mixing drinks saturday night. so she can me a prescription for nexium and antibotics in case its the stomach flu starting.....i need to land in WDW already this waiting around for wednesday morning is getting to be to much lol

I got my tax refund today, that brightened my day right up. At least something was bright today, the weather was miserable, and at one point last night, we lost power, (at a bad time too, it was when I was watching Desperate Housewives.)

So anyway, since I got my refund, I can now pay off my trip to Disney, well, almost, my refund is about $50 less then I need to pay it off, but that's pocket change compared to how much I'll be able to pay off.

Then when I get the rebate / stimilus check, or whatever it's called, I'll put that money towards paying off my student loans, instead of just spending it on whatever.

I have a family funeral today. DH's step-mother died on Friday so there will be funeral, burial, and big family gathering this afternoon. No time to chat this morning as I have to throw something together before I go to work.

For those of you that have no idea why I'm talking about this, I had gone on a girls weekend last May with a friend of mine that I worked/lived with while on the college program back in 2002. I have no shame admitting that back in the day I was a Britney fan and it sort of became an inside joke in our apartment - anything that related to Britney. I started writing a trip report for the girls weekend but never finished (shame on me) so as requested this is the "Britney update".

So fast forward to this trip, I was looking something up for the House of Blues Orlando when I saw that Britney Spears (aka the M&M's) were going to have a concert one of the nights we'd be in town! And the tickets were only $25!! I called my friend immediately and she thought it would be awesome (and hysterical) to go. You know, that whole "watching a train wreck" phenomenon.

So on this day, my friend and I hit the parks during the day. We did a lot of park hopping and my pictures weren't very helpful but regardless we headed back to the resort to get beautiful for Britney. I completely forget what time the concert was supposed to start - I'm thinking 7 or 8. But I had to pick up the tickets from will call so we got there pretty early. I'd say close to 5. Well am I glad we did. There was no line to pick up the tickets but the line to get inside was already wrapped around the side and back of the building! It was insane! They weren't letting anyone in yet so my friend and I just hung out in line for what seemed like forever.

Finally about 20 minutes til showtime they started letting people in and the line moved very slowly. If you have ever been to the HoB, you may be familiar with their bag search. Where they practically do a strip search on every guest before they let you inside? Well tonight they obviously would not let cameras in - even if you just had it in your bag, they would not let you in the club. Thank goodness I didn't bring mine with me, for later or something.

The HoB is relatively small, especially if you are there for a concert. The dance floor area was already pretty full and we wanted a seat so we grabbed 2 barstools towards the back on the 1st level - very near the bar (for those that have been there). Once seated, I went and got my friend and I a couple beers. And waited. Again, can't remember what time the show was supposed to start but I do know that it started an hour later than it was supposed to. Shocking right?

So now the fun part. Britney appeared and the crowd went insane! I mean, huge cheers and "I love you Brit's" were being flown all over the place. And that was just from me!

So here are a couple pics I found online but they are identical to what I saw:

Brit (we go way back so I can call her that) was accompanied by I think 5 dancers. She sang "Hit Me Baby", "Overprotected", "Slave 4 You" (I think), "Do Something", and another song that I can't think of. That's right. Only 5 songs.

Well somewhere around her 3rd or 4th song, the CD skipped and actually stopped playing for a second. And wouldn't you know, Brit stopped singing too! Yes, I know this will surprise a lot of you but Britney was lip-synching for the concert. I read a couple news articles about the show after I got home and it mentioned this fiasco and said that people were booing and hissing. I honestly heard none of that. Actually the cheers got louder when it happened and she just laughed and kept dancing until the music came back on and then she started "singing" again. I mean the club isn't that big. You would have been able to hear boo's.

And a lot of people were giving her flack because she didn't have her 6-pack anymore and she was "fat". Well I will say this, she didn't look fat to me at all, she looked a little untoned in the belly area (compared to her previously) and the outfits she wore were NOT flattering to say the least. Truth be told, I would love to be as "fat" as Britney. Her "hair" was pretty nasty though.

I will say something positive about her show that she could not fake. And that is her dancing. She may not have been singing for real, but she was shakin' it and dancing across that stage! It was good though.

Overall, the concert was entertaining and I am very glad that my friend and I went. If I had spent more than $25 I would have been not so happy.

I have to admit I have also been to a Britney Spears concert. But I am much older than you so I went as a Mom bringing her 3 DDs. My kids were very small and loved Britney in the way that my youngest now idolizes Hannah Montana. This was back in the day when Britney was still a Disney chick and sang sweet and innocent songs. .....or so we thought. She had a concert about 1 1/2 hours from our house. It was a beautiful day. The concert had, of course, been sold out for months, but we called and found out lawn seats were still available. So we packed the kids in the car and brought them for a surprise trip to the concert. The place was packed. We were sitting ar enough away that the people on stage looked like ants, but you could see well if you used binoculars. THere were 5 warm up bands...all of which were very good and then....TA DA Britney! But she was no longer Disney chick Britney! We fondly call that tour the "Britney is a ***** (you fill in the blank) Tour" Thank Goodness my children couldn't see the stage. She dressed tradhy and I kid you not she did a pole dance. The 10 bagillion little girls surrounding us were fine, they were dancing to the music and having a great time....the moms were all trying to pick up their chins from the lawn.....and the dad's....well they were all drooling and climbing over everyone to try to get a turn with the binoculars! !

Hi All!

Life here has been a bit crazy and I have had no time to check in with my Peeps! Sorry!

Our house is on the market and actually staying clean. My Mom was here for the weekend and I was co-chair of a Garden Party at church, where 160 women attended! I was exhausted after days of decorating, the party & cleaning up! But, a fun time was had by all! I started my new job on Mon and have now been in training for 2 days. Not much to report there, but I know it will be harder as time goes on. I am looking forward to the challenge!

Melinda... My prayers are with you and your family.

GOOD MORNING!

Thanks for all the hugs. The funeral was actually a nice service and MIL had been sick for the better part of four years with the last being in and out of the hospital and nursing home. FIL had her feeding tube removed a couple of weeks ago so it was actually a blessing when she passed. She's home now.

On the bad side the food at the family gathering was delicious! And we grazed freely. Back to good eating today.

Shannon! Thanks so much for posting the Britney installment for me! $25 doesn't sound like such a bargain when she started an hour late and only "sang" five songs. At least the crowd didn't abuse her too badly. Bless her heart. I remembered it was during the really BAD period that she did that concert so thanks for satisfying my morbid curiosity.

Pixie....I'm laughing at the thought of you NOT passing the binoculars to DH or the girls at the Britney concert!
