I want that Biggest Loser DVD. I need burning thigh muscles! It's pathetic that after pulling weeds or planting flowers in a squatting position, I ACHE :sad2:

The BL website is good too.

So, Aaron, you lost 1.8 this last week? For some reason, I didn't have you down.

Good for you!

Have you decided what the next challenge will be? My "luck" turned around. I may aim a little higher next time.

Everyone: Just a heads up, Homemade White Bread still warm from the oven with real butter is NOT good for anyone's diet. Especially 2 thick slices.

Happy Birthday My Ides of March Twin! Hope it was great.

Down 1 lb this week. :cool1:

I'm exhausted. We got in from the ER around 5:30 this morning & then I had to get my oldest son up for school at 6:30. I'm ready to go back to bed. My oldest son accidently kicked his little brother in the mouth last night. It knocked one tooth completely out, loosened two other teeth as well as pushed those two sideways and not in the right location. He has a good amount of gum & lip trauma as well but overall he is doing great.

Pakey, I'm off to Bristol. Catch all of you peeps later. Don't talk toooo much this weekend.

2boystwicethefun...are you sure about that screen name :lmao: Your poor DS, I hope he is feeling better. I can't imagine how bad that must have hurt :scared: Were they his baby teeth?

People ask me all the time how I could chat with people that I have never met with and have never seen or heard. I have responded in the past that it is our love for Disney that has made us friends. I now look back over the past year and see that it is much more than that. Yes, we all came here for one reason or another and it revolved around Disney, but out of that I think real friendships have evolved. I just want to say thank you so much for the kind words and pm's that you guys have sent over the last few weeks. They mean more to me than you will ever know.

 I am glad you found some comfort here.

.... just goes to show you.......THAT'S WHAT I GET FOR EATING A POP TART!!!!!!!!! :sad2:

Poptarts are evil I tell ya! So are strawberry toaster studels :rolleyes1

I am feeling rejuvinated and remotivated. I finally saw the scale go below 170s. I posted my weight that am now as 169.5, that was my weight after rithing in bed all night from the stomach bug and eating 1/2 a waffle but after my second nap I weighed again- ( i know i should not obsess with the scale- bad habit) but that weight was 168.2. I'm sticking with the 169.5 as my official weight for the week but I felt encouraged to try harder. I really might go to the gym this week and try the all water thing. I have not changed alot of my types of foods but just watching portion sizes- my major change is not eating a "meal" when I am working in the dark. I will have a cup of soup, or a packet of oatmeal, a small lean cuisine(4 points or less), or a yogurt. In my mind I say I'm having a snack and not a "lunch". But I'm really feeling motivated. I got my 32 oz water beside me as I type:yay: So hoping for good numbers next week.

:cheer2: That is excellent!! Not the stomach flu but your doulbe digit rollover.

yes, we've been taking cover all day! about 10 minutes after i posted about my pop tart story, the sirens started going off. we grabbed the dogs, got in the car and drove 4 blocks to anna's house (she has a basement). we hung out there until about 15 minutes ago. we've only had 1 storm come directly over us. we had baseball-sized hail from that one. unfortunately i didn't have my camera but i took some pics of the hail that had not melted when i got home a few minutes ago and i'll post them later. there's still some storms coming through but i think the worst is over.

did you guys see the georgia dome footage at the SEC basketball tournament last night? the catwalk and scoreboards were shaking and they said there were some bolts falling from the ceiling! :scared1:

nope.....blueberry. :sad2:

I am glad you are safe. I saw the footage from the game...how terrifying!!

LOOK AROUND YOU by Henry L. Meyers.
Who is the person sitting next to you?

The person next to you is the greatest miracle and the greatest mystery you will ever meet at this moment, a testament of the Word made flesh, of God's coming continually into the world.

The person next to you is an inexhaustible reservoir of possibility with potentialities that have been only partially touched off.

The person next to you is a unique universe of experience, with necessity and possibility, dread and desire, smiles and frowns, laughter and tears, fears and hopes, all struggling for expression.

The person next to you is surging to become something in particular, stands for something, counts for something, lives for something, labors for something, waits for something, runs from something, runs towards something.

The person next to you has problems and fears, wonders how she/he is doing and often doesn't feel very good about it, is often undecided and disorganized and painfully close to chaos, but she/he is endowed with a great toughness in the face of adversity, able to survive the most unbelievable difficulties and persecutions.

The person next to you is a whole colony of persons, persons met all during his/her lifetime really a community, in which still lives a father and a mother, a friend and an enemy.

The person next to you has some things he/she can do well, and some things he/she can do better than anyone else in the world; there is something he/she one life on earth means and cares for; but does he/she dare speak of it to you?

Thank you for this! We all need the occasional gentle reminder.

OT

I have a question for those of you that have breastfed----Rebekah has reversed her day and nightime feedings. Starting around 10 p.m. she is up every 2 to 2.5 hours to nurse. She goes right back to sleep. At about 4:30/5:00 she will sleep until we wake her to go to daycare. She will eat maybe around 8 or 8:30 then she will go maybe 4 hours and not eat all of the bottle. Total from morning until we pick her up is only 3 bottles of no more than 5 ounces if we are that lucky. Most of the time it is just 3 ounces. Around 7 she will nurse and then I will try to top her off again before I put her down. She sleeps until around 11 and then the cycle of feeding begins. HOW DO I CHANGE THIS???? Between her feeding and Joshua waking up I am getting maybe 4 hours of sleep total. DH has offered to feed her a bottle, but then I would still have to get up and pump at least once during the night--so I have not taken him up on that. Any insight on this would be great.

Uggghh! This is so hard! My oldest did this to me and like another poster here, I put him in bed with me. It did seem to help us both get more sleep. I also kept him up more during the day and this seemed to make the most difference. Is your DD sleeping all day?

Today turned out beautifully (scattering my dad's ashes off the coast of Santa Cruz). Although there was a small craft warning as of yesterday, we only went over a few swells, and the wind was not too bad. 2 of my sisters and 1 brother and I went on the boat, while my other sister and brother and the in-laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren stayed with my mom on shore. We talked with the boat's owners, and when they found out my dad was a sailor, they rang 8 bells after my brother scattered the ashes. They said this means the end of the sailor's watch; time for someone else to take over. I read from John's Gospel, and my sister read the peace prayer of St. Francis. We laughed and cried and told stories, then joined the rest of the family for lunch at a restaurant at the harbor. It was lovely and touching and went as well as I could possibly imagine. Thanks to those who sent prayers and good wishes for today.:flower3:

Here's the link to the entire reading about the person sitting next to you. It's longer than I posted. http://www.bodynaturals.com/Spiritual.htm

 I am so sorry you lost your father. What a beautiful way to remember him. It sounds like the day was perfect.

FYI, Amazon had the BL dvd for 9.99 used. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the mental image of the bread. Now I am staring and craving homemade bread.:sad2:

Have a great day Peeps!!

warning: female issues below. if you're of the male persuasion you might want to skip this one!

i have a question for you guys. i have a dull ache in my lower right abdomen. no sharp pains or anything like that. sometimes the ache spreads to my upper thigh area and my back. it feels sort of like muscle pain....like i need to stretch. it started yesterday afternoon. it hasn't gotten worse necessarily but now i feel like i have to pee more often than normal.

some things to consider:
-AF left about 9-10 days ago.
-i'm on birth control pills.
-i've only had one ovarian cyst ever in my life and that was when i was 15 years old.
-i've never had a urinary tract infection.

another thing to consider: DH and i had a very important talk last tuesday night about starting a family. don't get too excited - we both agreed that we want to wait about a year. anyway, when i mentioned to him yesterday that i was aching, he said something about the talk we had and that the body can do weird things. i googled this and i read that women have dull aching abdominal pain when they ovulate. now because i'm on birth control, i don't actually ovulate. but after thinking about what DH said and the body doing weird things, i'm wondering if something crazy happened where my body overruled my birth control pills or something????

any ideas?

i have an appointment on friday with my gyno for my annual exam. it's just a coincidence that this is happening the week i have an appointment anyway.

Sorry about that. I saw your post about not having everyone's numbers, and I saw my name on it. But then I thought I saw where you got the ones that you missed, so I didn't bother to repost it. But yeah, -1.8 for me last week. Unfortunately, I had a fairly bad weekend (I also saw Horton, and the popcorn literally jumped from the bucket into my mouth; I swear I couldn't stop it!) and my number this morning was not so good. But I've got 4 days to correct that.

You know, I actually feel a little ridiculous. I’m a 31 year old male in the best shape of his life (which admittedly isn’t saying a whole lot considering how out of shape I’ve been most of my life), and I am dieing because of a 30 minute DVD workout that I did two days ago.

Next challenge - that's a bit of a tough one. Memorial Day is 9 weeks away. Two months might be a tad long. So I'm thinking maybe Cinco de Mayo, which even though is on a Monday would be a good cut off point if we just use our Friday (May 2nd) weight. That's 6 weeks, which seems a little more reasonable.

Oh and DH just called me, he doesn't have to work today - he drove all the way out there and found out he has off today instead of sat. Silly man, he really should be able to remember the schedule, especially since he's the one who makes it.

:lmao: silly man

Well, I got a new workout DVD to add to my collection. I orderd the Biggest Loser Cardio Max DVD last week, and it arrived on Saturday. The DVD has what they call a Maximum Results Plan, or something like that. It is a 6-week program where you start off on level one, move on to level two after two weeks, and then level three after four weeks. Well, I was feeling pretty confident. I figured that I’ve been doing Yoga, Pilates, the Walk at Home DVD's, etc 4-5 times a week for over a year now. I decided that I’d start with level one just because I was up late Friday night and was a little tired. But I just knew that I would be bored with it and would have to do level two next time. Well, after the 5-minute warm up, I was already huffing and puffing. And I was ready to collapse after the 20-minute level one workout. I could barely walk Sunday because my thigh muscles were just KILLING me. And stupid me decided to do it again last night. Well, I got done with the 5-minute warm up and had to stop because I couldn’t do any of the exercises properly because my legs hurt me so much. Although, I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that they don’t really stretch you at all. Even the warm up is pretty intense. So I’m going to go online to find some good stretches to do before starting the workout.

As for the Easter challenge I was going in the wrong direction. I gained 5 lb instead of losing it.:rotfl: As for the DVD :lmao:, sorry I'm laughing but I could totally seeing that happening to me.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!! i'm 1/4 irish so i have pinching rights! actually, you could call me "mutt". i have irish, german, cherokee indian and english heritage. a weird combo, i know. maybe that explains my family.

Hey I'm only 1/4 irish myself. I too am a mutt - Irish, Italian, German and Czech. My maiden name was really Irish though.

Everyone: Just a heads up, Homemade White Bread still warm from the oven with real butter is NOT good for anyone's diet. Especially 2 thick slices.
:sad2:

You I bet the butter just melted so nice on warm homemade white bread. I can taste it now. Yummy.

Ok...just chiming in as a resident kidney expert. (Long story...but my youngest DD has been in renal failure since age 2...just had her left kidney removed a few months ago...ergo I am walking encyclopedia when it comes to kidneys and UTIs, etc.)

This sounds more ovarian cyst-ish to me. Especially since AF left 9-10 days ago...that would be the time when an "innocent" cyst shows up. And you may very well have had many since age 15--the vast majority of ovarian cysts go undetected b/c they cause no problems and go away on their own.

Depending on what you are doing for exercise, this could be part of the issue as well. There is a slight chance it could be referred sciatica pain. Now normally, sciatica would be lower back pain, down one butt cheek, and down into the back of the thigh...but when the pain is referred, you feel it in the front. Still, though, this would be unlikely.

Not likely to be appendicitis (which would account for the lower right abdominal pain) as that is usually sharp and VERY painful. However, the best test for appendicitis is....take your hand and put pressure on the area where it hurts....keep the gentle pressure on for about a minute. Then remove your hand. If the pain is WORSE when you remove your hand, then it is likely appendicitis.

Let us know how it is later in the day and again in the morning. Is there a time of day when it is better/worse?

How long have you been on the pill? If over 5 years, your body may be ready for a change. However, I doubt you are spontaneously ovulating.

In any case, I hope you feel better! :goodvibes

thank you for all this! i know it's not sciatica because i've had that before and this is different. plus i haven't been exercising AT ALL for like 3 weeks because i've been so busy with work.

i did the appendicitis check and it wasn't worse after i removed my hand.

the ovarian cyst i had when i ws 15 was very painful whereas this one's not. of course it could be that my threshold for pain back then was different than it is now.

i've been on the pill since i was 19 and i'm 31. :scared1: yes, i know. but i talked to my doctor about this last year and she said there's no harm in it. i've changed pills every 3-4 years. i started yaz about this time last year, so i've been on it for a year.

NO, but it is good for the soul ;)

Dawn: i hope you feel better. i am not a novice with lady pains of any kind ( i had an ovary and a 10 lb cyst removed almost 4 years ago)...so i totally feel for ya. i hope you figure out what it is soon! :)

Happy St. Pattis all :) ..i am not even a smidge irish, but i am still feeling the green with my sweater today :)

I am going to be ON TRACK at Curves and calorie counting so i can see something moving the right way on friday...yes i am! :) ( positive thinking is a workout too right ?) :rolleyes1

This was so touching. I hope you and your family are at peace now. Have you had the ashes for a while, or did he pass recently. I must have missed that.

Nancy: I hope you had a great birthday.

Eating my salad and I made mushrooms caps. I was gonna stuff them, but I forgot I was sauting the stems and fried those little suckers. So I settled with sprinkling them with some parmesean.

I already made dinner, and I made spaghetti with whole wheat pasta. The carbs in the sauce are only 4 grams per serving.

Back in the day, I'd be working a promotion at a bar having green beer. I even had to wear a pig mascot costume in a downtown parade when I worked for the radio station. Homey the Pig was our mascot.

At least my salad is green.

To be young again!

Happy St. Patricks day everyone!

PUNKIN! I have no idea what it could be. What if it's a ovarian cyst or tumor or something! Please insist on a n ultrasound when you go this friday. GO in if it gets worse, ok? PLUS- warning Aaron that a female problem is about to be discussed probably GLUES him to the computer :rolleyes1

Gina- Curves is so good! Hope you get great results!

Dweatl-

Mony- I've grown to like the wheat pastas. It first the texture was weird to me. A pig costume? ACK!

Hee hee! Tis the season for Peeps!

I love that. Even has the gold chains ya know because we're down like that.

I would definately tell your gyno. Could be a cyst, that's what I'm thinking but I would definately have them do an ultrasound too. Just to be safe. Let us know what your gyno says.

Laura

My sister. DVC member, tells me yesterday:

"We decided to go and I'm taking mom and they helped me plan everything even my ADR's." (She isn't in the know like I am and I made all her dinning plans and ADR's for her last year) and she's going next month. The are staying at Saratoga. I'm glad she's taking my mom. My mom always goes with us, but not this year. At least she gets to go with my sister and experience DVC.

I have to wait FOREVER!!!!

Tell me, I made her ADR's with a 2 week notice, get her ressie's at the coolest places, she even lucks out at Tony's and get's a table while they dine to watch the parade and then Wishes.

That would never happen for me.

Oh wow, i missed a few birthdays - HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!!

punkin - i'll echo what everyone else said about talking to the dr.

I had a tough lunch today - we had a staff meeting and they provided food. I took just a little cole slaw, a little potato salad, half a ham sandwich and 2 small cookies. And I stuck to diet soda too. I'm just going to have fruit for my afternoon snack instead of my "junk food" 100 cal pack. I hope I didn't do too much damage - at least I had less than I wanted to eat and would have otherwise taken. I just might do a half hour on the treadmill plus some upper body work tonight instead of just one to help things out.

I completely forgot to report my work out results with the crazy Kettlebell i bought....OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My hamstrings are still super super sore, and i worked out Saturday afternoon with the thing! I guess thats a good thing, but my goodness..its a killer workout! i think i really need to do it at least 2 times a week to get my body used to it..i thought i would be more sore in the arms..but they say to push the weight down through glutes and hamstrings so i guess i was doing the moves correctly...but MAN i think i am walking rather funny still today! :rotfl:

As for the Easter challenge I was going in the wrong direction. I gained 5 lb instead of losing it.:rotfl:

Laura, you and I are the only 2 going in the wrong direction. I'm glad I'm not alone but we've got to do something about it. I don't want for us to be the first two kicked out of the peep gang.

I told my husband last night that starting today, he has to make my plates up for me. I'm fine at lunch because I do a lean cuisine but at dinner, I take bigger helpings. So he's going to start doing my plates.

Although last night I did shove down a whole box of thin mints while he was in the shower. You gotta eat fast to accomplish it but I did it with gusto. I think I was catching the cookies in mid-air because I didn't have enough time to move my hands from box to mouth. So I'm not sure the plating concept is going to work unless he removes those cookies from the house. Well the good news is that they'll be gone pretty soon. Thank goodness they only sell them once a year.

We talked with the boat's owners, and when they found out my dad was a sailor, they rang 8 bells after my brother scattered the ashes. They said this means the end of the sailor's watch; time for someone else to take over.

so sorry about your dad... I love that about the bells ending a sailors watch...

Thanks for the birthday wishes! No big deal, Melinda, I was out of town anyway. I went with my mom and dad to Tyler, TX, to meet my brother and his family to celebrate. We went bowling, to the zoo, drove the azalea trail (too early, no azaleas!), went to the arts and crafts festival, went swimming, and watched a movie! How's that sound for a busy, fun birthday!? It really was fun. It was a short trip, but at least I got to celebrate with them.

Wishing everyone a good exercise week!

I'm finally over being sick so I'm hoping to really be back on track with my exercise.

Okay Punkin.... I figured it out. OVULATION! It seems like the timing could be a bit early, but not out of the realm of possible. I actually have more pain during ovulation than during my actual period. Usually two Advil takes care of it (it only usually lasts a few hours).

OR maybe not.... if you are on the pill do you still produce an egg?? I haven't been on the pill in SOOO long, I can't remember. Anyhow, that is my take on it.....................P
