I'm 28, married to a terrific guy, and I have 2 great boys ~ages 4 & 9. I live in Wildcat country, the good ole Bluegrass state where ironically we bleed blue, just 1 1/2 hours from Melinda. :wave2: Melinda! I'm a full-time student & I'm about to wrap-up my 1st semester of nursing (RN program). YYYYEEESSSS!!! Only 3 more to go. :woohoo: My likes include: anything Disney, eating, NASCAR, eating, scrapbooking, eating, traveling, eating, reading (just not college text books), eating, and spending time with my family which of course involves eating. My dislikes include: slow people in the passing lane and peoplewhodriveunderthespeedlimitanddon'tknowhowtogetouttathewaywhenthereisa5milebacklogoftrafficbehindthem. That's about it on the dislikes....no wait one more thing, I don't like fish or anything fishy, no shrimp, no lobster, no nothing that comes from the water, be it fresh or salty. Yuck!
I think this about wraps-up my life or at least what you peeps should know of it. ;) Have a good day!

I'm a samer

We lost our dog Elly this morning so it's been a very sad day here. She didn't act well last night so the girls spent a good deal of time just petting her before we put her in her kennel last night. She was gone when we got up this morning. I'm thankful she went in her sleep. It was a blessing not having to see her suffer.

We took the girls to see The Game Plan this afternoon. We needed to get out of the house and we need to laugh.

OH no....

ok, now you are scaring me. Although I've already been seeing gray. Been seeing some for awhile but seeing a lot more of it recently. The last time my hair was au natural was when I was a sophomore in college so 7-ish years ago? I'm looking forward to it but scared of what people will say...I think I will look worlds different (and maybe not for the btter  )

I like being a brunette, but I have never tried blonde... the worst that can happen is that you hate it and get the highlights back. I have been gray since I was 17, though, and I will tell you that gray is harder to hide w/ darker hair.

Happy Anniversary to the Peeps! This is such a great group, although I sometimes feel lost here, it has definitely helped me lose my almost 40 lbs!

I started Alli last night, and so far so good on the "treatment effects".

Happy 1 yr Birthday to all peeps. I know I wasn't here in the beginning but I am happy to be here and really enjoy it. I know that my progress is largely due to the support and comraderie I have found here.

Well to celebrate that I made my Thanksgiving goal, I had 2 hot dogs for dinner last night. Here I'm supposed to stay off red meat altogether and I go and eat the worst possible thing for me. Dang, they were good though. That's my one cheat for the week and I'm back in the groove today.

Melinda Yes, I do work at a food manufacturing company. We pack tons of different things. We just finished processing almost 6 million pounds of garlic for the summer and probably just as many jalapenos. All of you have seen our products in your grocery stores as we "co-pack" for several of the big food companies. We are also the largest manufacturer of grapeleaves in the world and that's our biggest product. We also do things like pasta sauces, salad dressings, bbq sauces, maraschino cherries, ice cream toppings, sun dried tomatoes. All in all, we do about 2000 different items. BUT NONE OF THEM COME AS A COMPLETE MEAL TO HEAT IN A MICROWAVE SO I'M OUT OF LUCK:scared1:

With DH gone for the weekend, I will be watching Pride & Prejudice. The BBC version with Colin Firth, of course. I also like Persuasion. I think I'll do both as I drag out my scrapbooking mess and start another book.

I hope everyone enjoys their Saturday.

Happy thread birthday to us all!

I started on Thanksgiving of last year, and have lost 7 lbs. total while on this thread. I'm not thrilled about that, but my overall total weight loss from my highest non-pregnant weight is 49 lbs., so I guess that's not too shabby. I have struggled with weight since my teen years, which are now a looong time ago. Here's me about 15 lbs. below my heaviest non-pg weight (19 years ago, as evidenced by the age of my now 19 y.o. son)
100_0565.jpg
, and here's me with this summer, with the love of my life, my DH of almost 23 years.
100_0564.jpg

I'm a lifelong Disney fan, I'm 45, I teach kindergarten, which is the reason I have another stinking cold this weekend (I love the kids, but not the germs), and I have 2 kids, ages 17 and 19.

I love everyone on this thread, and I am very thankful to be a part of this wonderful group.

Happy Anniversary Peeps!

Love all the bios!

Help! I'm stuck watching FOOTBALL

Someone throw me something PINK or shiney! princess:

I think we lost 18.5 total this week unless someone snuck in there. I'll check!

We need some newbie weights to record :cool2: Post 'em BIG. Post 'em colored...and since I'm lazy, post em early-ish. :flower3:

I just spent my afternoon polishing my resume and... applying to three jobs at WDW! All three pretty much read like my resume, so wish me luck.

I think I might actually make it out to the gym on a non-workday...

Hello Peeps! I am SO sorry I'm not posting more often. I need to up my committment to my Healthy Living Buddies.

I am a SAMER this week. Hey, it's better than the alternative - gaining weight! My biggest challenge continues to be the whole "eating when emotional" stuff. Food should NOT be connected to emotions, or boredom, or anything but satisfying hunger. How did it get so mixed up for me?

Catching up with this thread has been fun! Right now I'm re-watching the most recent episode of "The Office," reading this thread, relaxing after a nice hour-long walk with my hubby and two kids. (They both fell asleep, allowing us to have a nice long conversation!). Still on the agenda for tonight, since the kids are sleeping: I'll be busy doing my 20 minute Winsor Pilates workout. I should bust out that "Callanetics" video tape I have - talk about exercise for muscles you've never, ever, ever used before, probably even during childbirth! It's like a "get buff fast" program.

Have a fantabulous weekend!

ABISH19 = Hello! I just went to Amazon and ordered the Callanetics video (beginner and 10 years younger in 10 hours). Thanks for the tip! I have 2 of her books, but I didn't even know that there was a video. I first "found" her books back in the late 80's when I was a teen. It was actually my mom's book, but it worked so well I've kept it and used it off and on since then. I NEED a set amount of exercise time. Right now I don't own any exercise videos at all. It's like I just had a light bulb moment! (which might or might not also be a blond moment...ding ding) Video = set amount of time = something to schedule. Well, it makes sense to me....kind of like homework...watch the video, exercise all body parts, be done for the day! Should be a nobrainer. Right now I don't own any exercise videos at all. For some reason, I've been avoiding my elliptical machine like the plague. I read while I'm on it, so that makes the time go faster, but I don't really feel like it's a "workout". Not like you feel after you've done a few sets of Callanetics leg lifts anyway. Thank you for the idea :thumbsup2 ! Just another reason why I love checking in here. :upsidedow

pamrob- so sorry about your dog.

- Hope everything went well today. That place is beautiful. Do you live close to that place? I lived in L'ville before moving here to AL. Flowery Branch is where my son's Kindergarten teacher lives. We still keep in touch with her, and DS is in the 9th grade.

Wendy- THANKS FOR STARTING US ALL ON THIS JOURNEY!!! IT HAS BEEN A WONDERFUL RIDE!!!

I am going to try and figure out when I started on this thread. It was early Dec. last year I think. According to my Excel spreadsheet, I have lost 14.5 lbs. since I started on this thread. Not bad for a year's worth of work. I will also go back and dig up my bio. I looked for it the other day, so I have a rough idea about what page it is on. ;)

Oh, and I tripped over Trixie today, and reinjured my knee that DS hockey coach fell on two weeks ago! :scared:

Gayle- Have a wonderful trip!!

Ok, I must have been skimming because I think you and I will be at WDW around the same time and I missed it. I'll be there Dec 14-16 (short I know), and we're staying at the Poly (:woohoo: ) How about you?

Nope, we'll be leaving the day you get there. We'll be at OKW from the 9th-14th..I wish we could stay longer, too, but my DH doesn't have any more vacation days since we had our baby. Bummer that we'll just be missing you! Have fun...not much longer now!

EVERYONE,
Sandy's problem reminds me to request prayers for a family. A 31 year old mother of two died yesterday of a massive heart attack. She lived in the neighboring county & is my nursing instructor's cousin.. Remember them in your prayers.
So sad. :sad1: Will definitely add to my prayer list.

With DH gone for the weekend, I will be watching Pride & Prejudice. The BBC version with Colin Firth, of course.
I just love Colin Firth! Hope you've had a nice temporary-bachelorette weekend...and that you haven't starved w/out your DH there to cook for you!

Question to all Peeps...
Do any of you have an Anytime Fitness in your area? Are you a member? One just opened up about a mile from me and I'm thinking of joining. Right now, I have a stationary bike and a treadmill that I work out on at home, but would like to do a little light weight training. A friend of mine, who used to be a member at one by her house, told me they never kept the machines clean, fixed, etc. I just want to make sure this isn't a company-wide problem, and that it might just be that one particular one. So, has anyone else had any problems w/ them?

GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

Quiet here yesterday!

Hope everyone was out enjoying a beautiful fall day!

HAVE A GREAT SUNDAY!

Painted the bedroom, living room, dining/kitchen, and hallway... today 2nd coat! Its such a blessing to be invited into ds' and gf lives!! Hope my back survives!!

Have a great day!! Weather here will be in the upper40's - its a heat wave!! (lol that's what is being reported!!)

 Peeps

rats... this poor laptop is on its deathbed... I tried to cut and paste - no can do...

1. All the pics look mahvelous!! Just love the updates, and re intros!!! :thumbsup2 I'll be working next week (WOOHOO 1st time in almost 2 weeeks!!) so bare with me!!

3. FRAN :goodvibes Thanks for the lesson on hyperkalemia - I have NONE of those symptoms - and so I feel better - plus I feel much much better with less dizziness - I'm supposed to be keeping a dizzy journal - oddly enough I have gotten waves of dizziness at 8ish in the am, and 8ish in the PM!! :confused3 and of course at night if I roll over from my left side to my right side... (I so hate that!) I will get a new blood test on Monday - - it must not have registered too high because when I called Thurs about cancelling the Friday appt they said it was ok to reschedule for Monday... (and it probably didnt hurt me to give up my tea, etc )

I was here from the get go (as eeyore45 - hated that name btw!!) and have kept off 5# :rolleyes1 I'm like Wendy, I have gained and lost so very many times its completely discouraging... I keep looking at my fat middle in the mirror, determined to lose it by the wedding date (Jan '09) but that voice in the back of my head keeps lol at me saying never, never, never... I'm destined to be this fatty...

 Callenetics - some of the exercises I used to post were hers - I really believe she started the revolution of the "crunches" (slow steady sit ups) as well as today's Pilates - and hers you dont need the special equipment -

Remeber the "put your hands staright out behind your back - thumbs up, and slowly bring your thumbs together while raising your arms as high up as you can exercise?" THAT"S HERS!! (and newbies, dont do more than 50 because I guarantee tomorrow you will ache - but it so helps rid that flabby underarm mess)

pamrob- so sorry about your dog.

Thanks Allie now I just can say "DITTO" and
Punkin when's that wedding??? I think its a great plan for the 2 rooms, babies in arms - if anyone has a problem with it, they wont use it, but its for a short time - so it sounds good to go by me!!

Wendy and BE Addicts Did you order from QVC?? Man, I collapsed in bed last night, and the clicker went to QVC = BE TIME!! Only I was too darned tired to get out of bed, but I want that eye compact with 2 eye brushes (an IQUAD) so I ordered it today (cost an extra $4 not getting in on the one time only special! ) IT has the caps so you can use it as a "travel" eye shadow quad - with one color used (and one brush) as eye liner!!

Plus I think I get the side V to do my eye shadow (I'm so stuck in the 80's with 3 colors, one under brow, one in the middle, and one swipe above the lashes... couldnt figure out where to put hte "V" color!!)

bad me spending $30 on ME before Christmas! I'm so guilty with no work, I wont have my bonus money...

Help! I'm stuck watching FOOTBALL

Someone throw me something PINK or shiney! princess:

:rotfl2: you sound like me! DH loves football so i must endure it this time of year.....he lives for it. he was so excited that tennessee beat arkansas yesterday that he INSISTED on wearing an orange t-shirt under his plaid dress shirt to the reception last night.

I just spent my afternoon polishing my resume and... applying to three jobs at WDW! All three pretty much read like my resume, so wish me luck.

that's so exciting!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK!! :goodvibes

i think you were talking to me, right? it's dawn, not shannon! but don't worry...i'm not offended because shannon's a pretty cool chic! :cool2:

i live about 30 minutes from there. flowery branch is on I-985 and i'm on I-85 if that helps you figure out the logistics! and that's so cool that you still talk to your DS's kindergarten teacher! i still e-mail my 5th grade teacher sometimes.

you're sort of a newbie, so you don't know this but my best friend is a fitness trainer (she's going with me to WDW in april...maybe....my pre-TR link is below if you're interested). she's actually getting ready to leave her current gym and open an anytime fitness herself. i'm pretty sure that problem would be a case-by-case thing. those anytime fitnesses are franchises and they all have different owners. as far as keeping the equipment clean, they should have some sort of spray and paper towels or something out for you to use to wipe down the machine before you use it. otherwise.....just yuck! :scared: as far as the equipment being broken, that's the owner's fault and they should be more consistent about that.....you have to spend money to make money! otherwise they're not gonna have a successful gym for very long. if you have any other questions about anytime fitness, let me know. i'm sure i could find out from her! ;)

I keep looking at my fat middle in the mirror, determined to lose it by the wedding date (Jan '09) but that voice in the back of my head keeps lol at me saying never, never, never... I'm destined to be this fatty...

no, you're not!!!!!! that's a little devil sitting on your shoulder whispering bad things in your ear.......ignore her! you can do it!!!!

Punkin when's that wedding??? I think its a great plan for the 2 rooms, babies in arms - if anyone has a problem with it, they wont use it, but its for a short time - so it sounds good to go by me!!

well, the actual wedding was 3 weeks ago in destin on the beach. if you wanna see pics, just go to my pre-TR (link below). they're BEAUTIFUL pictures.....good for imagining you're on the beach!

the reception was last night. it went really well! i was in b*tch mode for about 20 minutes right at the beginning because a few of the girls that were supposed to be helping were standing around drinking wine, but i got over that soon enough and had a good time. although i was super busy and....BELIEVE IT OR NOT.....don't have any pictures!!!!! :faint: i'm sure i'll have some later that people send to me. and the kid thing turned out great. not everyone brought their kids who said they were going to so we had less than we thought. although one little girl was standing upstairs throwing bread crumbs over the banister down on the guests as they were arriving....:lmao: i quickly got her mother and she took care of it. anyway, we have a half keg of miller lite at my house now......anyone want to come watch football and drink beer with my husband today?????

Dawn, glad everything went well!! I would definitely come help you all drink that keg, but the 6 hour drive may make it be a bit late when we get there... but hey I have tomorrow off!!

I don't know much about Anytime Fitness, we have one close by but their signup fee was a bit steep. I belong to Planet Fitness, and I joined before they opened so I got a great deal... $20 down and $10/month, no contract or commitment required. The one I joined is 5 min from work, but work is 30 min from home so no weekend time. However, I am SOOO excited because they opened a new one 10 min from home and my membership is good there!! I went yesterday.

Okay, off to Lowes to buy some wood to fix the hot tub panel that fell off, and then Kohl's, and maybe Walmart since my workout shoes need replacing...

Hope everyone has a great and SKINNY day!!

Yes, I know you are Dawn (so sorry ) , I just typed the wrong name, and it was late last night. :rotfl2: Plus, I had read the 10 pages that I was behind on. :scared1: I used to drive dd up 85 when she was a baby and would wake up in the middle of the night. I once drove all the way up to Hamilton Mill Rd., and realized that I better turn around cause dd and I were both in our PJ's and I was running low on gas. Didn't want to run out of gas at 2:00 AM in my PJ's. :scared1: :lmao:

Glad it went well last night. I hate it when people stand around and don't help. Glad you were able to "move on" and have a good time. Glad the children situation worked out. That is funny about the girl throwing food over the banister. I am sure that was a lot of FUN for her. :rotfl:

Punkin you are amazing!! Way to keep your cool - tell your dh we're out of beer here - and the BEARS are playing - yes, that's right I"M THE FOOTBALL FANATIC!! :cool1: Where's my dh? Out doing the grocery shopping!! :rotfl2: seriously, he doesnt like football - ds and I are all about football!! :rotfl2: I know positions, scoring, tackles, offense, defense, players, names numbers positions... I try to stay out of college football, but the ILLINI are making it hard -
WOO HOO ILLINI BEAT #1 Ohio STATE!!

:rotfl:

the rooms and hallway got painted!!

I'm having a hardtime - the "brain farts" keep settling in - I'm driving dh crazy!! (he wanted a grocery list, while the Bears were close to scoring - so he said he needed to go to 2 grocery stores/ why?? to get apples... um doesnt Sam's club have apples?? "YOU said you wanted winesap apples..." um sorry dh, but no one carries those apples anymore!!

We're not communicating very well this week. Part is my lack of functioning w/o dizziness - part is him... no one takes out the garbage, or puts away clutter.... I'm so tired of it all. We have a hole in our house (vent for the air flow - but it needs to be covered - he wont do it... its driving me nuts!)

I had a bizarre dream, terrosit group attackedWDW while we were there - it was so bizzare....

Bare Essenuals is worth it! But I HATE the auto ship, so I quit. I buy it from Nordstrom so I can see and play with the colors up close. My Nordies is staffed b genius BE ladys. They are nothing short of miracle workers. START on QVC with the starter kit with the booky brush and the other needed brushes then replace or add on from Nordies.

OH!!!! Wait...theres some major COOL Bare Minerals kits at Costco RIGHT NOW!!! Hurry! I always tell myself "next time I'm here I'll buy it" then a week later they're sold out :sad2: . There's 2 kits..one has Glee in it  But my very best favorite shade is "True" which I buy in the larger jar at the Nordies.

I'm on my way to a family function. I'd rather have a root canal.
My DH's family are about as fun as a stump.

Which makes me kick it up a notch in the attempt to breathe some LIFE into these people.

Should be a blast!

See, If my MIL was still alive (died 3 yrs ago) it would be their 50 year wedding anniversary. IF they stayed married. She HATED her DH (my FIL) but since she's no longer with us, my FIL goes on and on about how wonderful she was and how happy they were. The weren't. She couldn't stand to be in the same room as him. SO, this whole thing entertains me like crazy.

Hey Peeps,

A little bit ago, Phoebe, my mom and I were in the back fixin up some things. Phoebe was playing with a new ball we got her. But when she came in, she seemed to be limping a bit. I went to prt her and lift up her leg and she pulled it away. Then I noticed teeny tiny blood drops on the floor. I'm talking like pencil eraser size smudges and there were maybe 5 of them. She kept licking it and I think I saw a small cut on her pads when she let me get a look at her. When she walks she is walking fine but then she will freak and barely put any weight on it. My mom thinks she has/had a '"pricker" in it. Our backyard is not that well maintained and she did dive into a bush getting the ball. These things freak me out. I'm thinking we should take her to the Vet in the a.m. just in case...what do you all think?

On top of that, my mom seems to be getting annoyed at me for showing concern that Phoebe is hurt. :confused3 I notice this a lot when I tell her I have a cold or don't feel well, etc. And I mean telling her as in sharing a fact, not whining or complaining about it. She "doesn't want to hear it". Like I did something to make myself sick on purpose. Again :confused3 .

Sorry for the tangent...please send pixie dust to Phoebe!
