I am soooooo far behind due to it being Thanksgiving = LOTS of crafts and T'giving feast next Tuesday for 120! :scared1: Yes, we cook all the food for all our four year olds and their families. We will cook most of it on Monday, and then serve the families on Tuesday. Anyway, maybe I'll have a chance to catch up this weekend, and I'll dig up my bio. I went looking for it the other day.

Anyway, I am -1.5!!!! I am back to where I was before I went to the beach for Fall Break. It took me three weeks to lose what it took me 3 days to gain. :headache: :scared1:

I am very excited considering I haven't been able to exercise due to my knee. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I'm a samer

We lost our dog Elly this morning so it's been a very sad day here. She didn't act well last night so the girls spent a good deal of time just petting her before we put her in her kennel last night. She was gone when we got up this morning. I'm thankful she went in her sleep. It was a blessing not having to see her suffer.

We took the girls to see The Game Plan this afternoon. We needed to get out of the house and we need to laugh.

-.5.....again...I am glad to be losing, but I would like to lose MORE! I know what the problem is, I am not exercising enough. I try to be more active physically everyday, but I really need a regimen. I just need to make myself make the time for ME. Easier said than done. I love everyones bio's. It's great to put a face with the writing personality. I really, really, really, am glad this thread is here. THANK YOU UTAH MAMA!!! Here's my bio.......I am 36, (just turned 36 November 4, I tried to ignore it, maybe just skipping this one , thank you very much, but it did not go away :confused3 ) my husband and I have been together for 18 years. We have 2 children, DD 15 and DS 7. We own a landscape management company here in sunny North Florida :beach: . The first few years in business were VERY hard, it's a big city with a lot of competition. Lately we have been doing fairly well, but every time they say "gas prices will continue to rise", I cringe. I still can't believe how much gas we ourselves are responsible for using  . I am pretty much a stay at home mom, who drives the kids to school everyday, (2 hours a day drive time!) I also am "the office :surfweb: " which is probably a part time job, hours wise anyway. It never really goes away, mentally. I LOVE to read, could talk about different books and authors all day long. I've started my own epic neverending story, which at this rate, is probably going to stay neverending. No hidden talents that I have discovered yet. If I had a superpower, I think it would be "empathist". Even though I don't always agree with peoples actions, I can usually understand the motivations behind them. I would have loved to have stayed in school and became a psychiatrist, but it was not in my cards. A couple of years ago I started going to church for the first time in my life, and I feel it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. It has definitely helped me in so many ways, most that I didn't even know I needed help with. Life is a journey, and I am so glad to be along for the ride! :thumbsup2

Wonders: I cut my hair real short, after the baby, and all the blonde went away. Two days later I was calling my hairstylist for highlights. My hair was never this dark. And I found gray. I was so sad.

I'll do a bio tomorrow.

ok, now you are scaring me. Although I've already been seeing gray. Been seeing some for awhile but seeing a lot more of it recently. The last time my hair was au natural was when I was a sophomore in college so 7-ish years ago? I'm looking forward to it but scared of what people will say...I think I will look worlds different (and maybe not for the btter  )

So so sorry :flower3:

Aaron I saw Lynyrd Skynyrd in concert back in the 70's when I was living in Mississippi. I didn't think anybody remembered them. A great band. I love music too.

Nikki How nice to take your IL's to WDW--what a great xmas present. Next year, when we take our grown kids/families, we are also taking my DH's ex-wife and her DH. It will be the 3rd time we have vacationed together and we get along great. Most people find it odd but I feel lucky that we are able to have good relationships like that. Thank goodness having DVC helps offset those trip costs because 10 adults can sure ring up a pretty good meal/bar tab.

I'm going to be a single gal this weekend. DH is going to the coast golfing with his cronies from the country club. I should lose a ton of weight because I'm not sure I know how to fix myself anything to eat. It may just be Cheerios until he returns.

First of all...another LS fan here!
And yes, I think WDW is the perfect Christmas present...but someone should probably fill my FIL in on that! :rotfl: It's not that he doesn't like Disney, but his parents (my DH's grandparents) moved there after my FIL left to go into the Navy after high school. So, my DH's family spent LOTS of time there, several times a year, and went to Disney just about every time! I think they just Disneyed themselves out...if that's possible! In fact, even my DH wasn't exactly jumping up and down to go in December, but he's looking forward to it b/c it will be our DD1's first WDW trip! We average going about every other year since we got married, though, so I'm not complaining!
Have fun this weekend as a single gal! I know what you mean about the food, though! My DH is also the cook around here, and he has been gone for the last two days on a business trip...I've had frozen waffles, WW muffins, and microwave popcorn...and my DD has been eating refrigerator meals (you know, like the kind you pack in your kid's lunchbox). He gets back late tonight, thankfully!

Sorry about your pup! We recently lost our english bulldog...he was another member of the family...so, I know how hard it can be!:sad1:

Ok, I must have been skimming because I think you and I will be at WDW around the same time and I missed it. I'll be there Dec 14-16 (short I know), and we're staying at the Poly (:woohoo: ) How about you?

PAMROB---sorry about Elly.

So I have been up since 3 Joshua decided he no longer needed to sleep. He was also having coughing fits so we just finished up a breathing treatment. Nothing like albuteral at 4:00 in the morning.

I was a samer yesterday. Oldest DS is going to have to have oral surgery in December. His canine teeth have not come in in over 2 years since they pulled the baby ones. They are there just not budging--so they will have to go into the roof of his mouth and find the teeth and then attch a wire to the teeth and to his braces. Over time they will be pulled into place. We will also have to do this with his 12 year molars in about a year. They are stuck on his 6 year molars--the ortho wants to give them a little more time. Luckily we have dental insurance.

It will be a long day around here I can already feel it.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY PEEPS!!
I can't believe it's been a year already! I'll have to go back and see when my first post was! I really don't know how long it's been that I've been here, but unfortunately, no weight has been lost! :sad2: Definitely in this coming year!!!

Well, I am leaving tomorrow, so I am doing all the last minute things today. :woohoo: I am off for a pedicure at 9, then some shoe shopping for my LBD (Little Black dress) for the cruise, hit Target for the last minute items (like EarPlanes) and food shopping with DH so he has something to eat all week. :scared: So much to do and so little time! :hourglass

Have a great Saturday and I will be updating my Pre-TR when I get home!

i'm so sorry to hear this. i'm glad your doggie didn't suffer.

DAWN---hope all goes well today :thumbsup2

thanks! the only thing we're really worried about is the kids. i had put on the invitations that children were welcome. anna has 2 girls coming from her gym (that work in the nursery) to watch and play with the kids. originally we had an entire basement for them to play in. anna bought a pinata, we've got 2 TVs with movies and a PS2, all kinds of games and we're getting them chicken tenders and fries from zaxby's. now that we've changed venues we no longer have a basement, but 2 bedrooms upstairs that we're going to have to use. do you guys think that'll be okay for 21 kids????

Dawn....You know you want that doggie! Your boys need a brother! ;)

you're right....i do. that's why i've gotta find someone else to take him!!!!! i sent out an e-mail and i've had 2 people respond asking about specifics. so i hope i've found him a new home. he looks so sweet! if i had more land and a bigger house, i'd have 10 more doggies.....no doubt.

:grouphug: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, EVERYONE!!!!!!! :grouphug:

i'm so glad i found this group when i did! it was just the thing i needed to get me over that all-too-familiar hump of not being able to drop the pounds i wanted to. THANK YOU PEEPS!!!! what a great group to be a part of! :flower3:

Husband: 1
Turn-ons: sushi, reading, watching period movies, DISing, vacation planning, girls nights out.

My life in a nutshell: Grew up in a small town on the TN/KY border. Came to the big city to go to college and never left. I have a BA in English and work part-time as a secretary. Although I was formerly known for my inability to say "no" to all sorts of school and community volunteer opps, I am happy to report that most of my volunteering is now done at my church and in my son's classroom where my heart is.

I am thinking you should be fine. Just divide into 2 age groups if possible and seperate. Have a tv in each room and you should be fine. Good luck and I know that you will have a blast.

I will post a bio later when the kids are resting---if that happens.

thanks! we will have a TV in each room - one with movies and one with PS2 games. i'm sure it'll all work out. oh, and i just talked with anna. we recounted the kids and omitted the ones that are under 1 year old since they'll probably be sitting in their mommy's lap instead of upstairs with the older kids. we are now down to 14, which is a WAY better-looking number!

for those talking about the 18% gratuity policy, there's a sticky on the restaurant forum about it and i saw this post there:

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=21710522&postcount=450

i guess we'll have to wait and see what the "official" people at disney say!

Good Morning - I'm feeling a tad better!!! :cool1:

Today I go 'shopping' with ds and fdil for paint - then we're painting their new condo!! Target has plates, gobblets, etc on sale - $12 so I bought them! I kept the receipt for her to return - I have no idea if she has plates!!

Gratuity - forced? NOT ok!! Understandable - completely (and I'm one who tips 20% for good service, its easier to figure out anyway - unless the tax is 9% then I double the tax number for the tip!!) ANYWAY, it reminds me - isnt many European countries non tip in restaurants, because the "tip" is included in our bills? I can understand wanting to change to that way of wages, but I cant understand Disney forcing it on us... I wonder if we can deduct money from the bill - ie 8% was deducted because the service was less than stellar - (I'm thinking of our Tony's experience - and I couldnt wait the 30 min for the "manager" - but we were on the Dining plan and our experience was it was free, its paid for , get over it... so we left! BUT if I had to pay I definately would've raised a huge stink and demanded the tip deducted...)

also I wonder if the tip is divided amongst the staff of the restaurants... it usually is around these parts... (the busboys, the dishwashers, the bartender, the hostess all gets a percentage of tips, in some places the tips are automatically 'pooled')

Hi! My name is Gayle. I live in the Buffalo, NY area, however I was born & raised in NJ and will always be a "Jersey Girl"! I am 45 years young, a wife, mother and grandmother! I have identical twin girls, 23, both married. I also have a 20 yo son in college. I am "GiGi" to a 20mo old little boy named Theophilus (Theo), who is just wonderful!
Things I like to do: sew, read, DIS, sing in the worship team at church, watch CSI (any of them), Ghost Whisperer, Smallville, Without a Trace, Moonlight & Numbers and go on vacation!
Things I don't like to do: pay bills, laundry & dishes. (None of these ever go away completely!)
Oh yeah...here I am with my grandson.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY PEEPS!

Believe it or not this reminds me of a conversation that I had with my DDs yesterday afternoon.

THey were commenting on the fact that you need gum to get through the day at school. THis always amazes me as we were not allowed to chew gum at school. So I mentioned that if we were caught chewing gum at school, we would get detention.

They told me that was a ridiculous rule. They wanted to know why we couldn't chew gum, but were allowed to bring guns and knives to school and had a smoking lounge. It is amazing to think about this, but I grew up in a very rural area and most of the teachers and guys in HS hunted. They would hunt before and/or after school so would bring their rifles and hunting knives and keep them in their locker or in gun racks in their trucks. Never had any problems and never gave it a second thought. It was just a way of life I guess. The smoking lounge was a solution to foggy bathrooms where the smokers would go to sneak a cigarette. If you had a note from your parents you could smoke in the smoking lounge (really an outdoor patio off of our cafeteria). Also the drinking age was 18, so on our senior trip to Quebec, the chaperones were absolutely fine with us ordering wine or beer with our meals and having a huge mega party at the hotel with alcohol. THe chaperones weren't allowed to drink, but the kids were!

Can you imagine any of this happening today? But we we not allowed to chew gum!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I graduated in 1980.

I live in a rural county & your experiences sound almost like mine (with the exception of the alcohol and no chewing gum). It was in the mid 90's when our school board decided to do away with the student smoking area and it wasn't until the string of school shootings that they decided to ban guns & knifes. Up until that point it was common for hs hunters to bring guns in their vehicles.

another fly by -

still dizzish - still hate that.

He took my blood - I may have hyperkalemia, or too much potassium - he wants to draw more blood. TOmorrow -- I'm going to reschedule. I read online (so you know its true) that too much tahe worsst thing that can happen is kidney failure... :scared1: some of the causes - red wine... :rolleyes1 and too much TEA :faint: as well as too much floride... (too much water)

 I certainly hope not. We just covered fluid & electrolytes in nursing lecture and hypo- or hyperkalemia is not good. Signs & symptoms are: anxiety, abnormal heart rhythms, weakness, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and a tingling, pins-&-needles type feeling in the hands and feet. Hyperkalemia doesn't generally cause kidney failure, kidney insufficiency usually causes the hyperkalemia. This is because decreased renal function causes a decrease in the amount of potassium that the kidneys can excrete. Therefore, the potassium builds in the blood. You defiently need to get an appointment asap. Not to scare you or anything but if your potassium (K+) level is critically high then the K+ could cause a widening of certain aspects of the cardiac cycle. Excess K+ blocks action potentials which then causes a decrease in heart rate, which then could lead to cardiac arrest. I'll keep you in my thoughts & prayers, just be sure to get back to the doctor soon.

EVERYONE,
Sandy's problem reminds me to request prayers for a family. A 31 year old mother of two died yesterday of a massive heart attack. She lived in the neighboring county & is my nursing instructor's cousin.. Remember them in your prayers.

Just a quick fly by post to record a 2.2 pound loss. That puts me at my lowest ever adult weight of 177.8 (finally in the 170's!!!), and bring me to a grand total of 38.2 pounds lost since the start of the year, and an uber-grand total of 62.2 pounds lost. I am now 2.8 pounds away from my Thanksgiving goal, and 22.8 pounds away from my ultimate goal weight of 155.

Congratulations. BTW, I'm a samer this week.
