Oh my goodness.
No treat bags.
No sugar.
No homemade treats?
What the heck?

And what is the reasoning on no homemade treats?
allergies?
purposeful poisoning?
what?

home schooling is starting to look better and better -
not really.
cuz I'd have to be independently wealthy.
but you know.

roflol - I'd homeschool dd, but we'd end up screaming at each other, so what would be the point?

Why Nothing Homemade?

What If You Popped Popcorn For The Kids, Bought Candy Corn And Some Clear Plastic Food Service Gloves And Had The Kids Stuuf A Glove With Popcorn And Candy Corn? You Could Even Add Some Plastic Spider Rings And Then Tie Off With Ribbon.

The theory of nothing homemade is the "cross contamination" - and honestly as a teacher... I usually dont eat homemade treats unless I know the home - I freaked out at a home visit years ago - it gave me the willies - cats roaming, droppings, and cocroaches :shiver:

I love those popcorn, candycorn, ring hands - and dd even suggested we bring that - I may just do it, esp if I cant find the popcorn balls (Walgreens had some for 50cents each!)

What do you think? The bloody punch + adding some ghoulish gummies? I was thinking of putting a gummy candy (spider, eyeball etc) in each glass then adding punch to it? Wonder if that would be too gross tho?

:wizard: headed your way! ;)

Of course they will! ;)

Please call or PM if you have time to get together while you're here! :)

Will do! We're both going to work on Friday and probably wont leave her until around 5ish... and fdil is hoping I'll be up to bar hopping Fri night!! :rotfl2: I'll just want to sleep!!

Its not a hard pattern, thankfully i use stitch markers though..there is some thought as you are going along though, lots of purling and yarn overs...when i finish it i will be sure to take a pic. I love making scarves too, but this alpaca wool is just too perfect for a shawl... :)

Since you love Rachael Ray, do you know if the rumors are true about her husband? I heard they were getting a divorce...i hope its not true..it would be nice for some celebrities to have intact relationships! :sad2:

Where'd you find the pattern? How expensive is the alpaca yarn? It sounds lovely - yo can be a joy!!

She did indeed adress those rumors, apparently since he is in a band, and she wasnt at each of his concerts - rumor - but, they read the rumor while they were on "vacation" She recently mentioned they took a 2nd honeymoon in Italy - where they got married, and invited some celebrity who was on her show to come with them next time - she said its just part of theterritory to find bad things to write about them, true or not!

Uma - I can so see you Tivo'ing Marie's faint over and over -

I think it was a wheeze involved - but I'm sure her diet had plenty to do with the faint - they didnt show if they gave her a nebulizer for asthma, or just a peanut butter sandwich...

(It sort of reminds me of Audra McDonald, the singer/actress who faints sometimes when singing--I remember reading it happened during some MAJOR show and everyone freaked out). Anyway here's the story--hope Jay is on the entertainment shows tomorrow. I have a feeling this story sure will be;

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (ABC 4 News) - Marie Osmond suddenly passed out and hit her head after a performance on 'Dancing with the Stars' Monday night.

Osmond had just finished her performance and was waiting for a critique from the panel of judges when she fainted and fell to the floor.

The show went immediately to a commercial break. After the break, Marie was seen backstage as she and her partner received their scores.

Marie's brother Jay was there in the ABC studios where 'Dancing with the Stars' is taped. He told ABC 4's Marti Skold, who was also in the studio audience, that Marie suffers from asthma and became short of breath, causing her to faint.

Jay Osmond also told ABC 4 that Marie has collapsed before due to shortness of breath from her asthma condition.

Paramedics worked with Osmond for a time after she collapsed, but she did not go to a hospital. Osmond will be on Tuesday's episode of 'Dancing with the Stars'.

I'm going to go watch AccessEntertainmentTMZetc show!

Uma - etonline has some video of Marie, Donny, and Marie's dance partner - but I cant get it to load!!

MARIE OSMOND opened up this morning to our MARY HART about her shocking collapse after performing the samba on Monday night's "Dancing with the Stars."

"It's nuts," she says. "I feel bad that it happened!"

Marie, who says she's fine now, tells Mary her theory as to why she fainted. "Right at the beginning, I started getting light-headed. The only thing I can think of is I have allergies, the air quality is terrible, and I couldn't get my breath."

And as soon as she woke, it took her seconds to realize what was happening. "I wasn't quite sure what was going on and then I saw everybody. I saw my kids, I saw TOM [BERGERON] and I think I said, 'Oh, crap'"!

Hi all... thought I'd share some pics. I've lost around 55 lbs. since last April. Sorry about the quality, I'm not a picture person, so the only pics I have are ones people have given me (and I don't have any electronically)... so I had to take pictures of the pictures with my dig cam.

This is my before pic from last spring (uggh)...

CIMG0268.jpg

And this is my "inprogress" pic from last weekend (that's me in the middle). I still want to lose quite a bit more, but this is motivation...

:rotfl: Well, have a safe trip, and let me know what's up. :thumbsup2

MJ WOOHOOTY - great pictures!! WTG!!

Lynda will do - I'll let you know as soon as I find something out!! I'd like them to meet you!!

Nice pic MJ. Loved the wedding pics Dawn. Shannon I hope everything works out!

I unfortunately have strep throat. Went to the dr today and got an antibiotic shot in the hip (ow!) and some vicodin for the pain, because man, the pain was bad.

I have not been doing well on the diet. Pounds haven't crept up too badly but also not that great. I am not sure I belong on this thread anymore...

Kat I can so relate -

I think you belong - you just need to be more of a taker - when you make choices, you will be reminded... "WWPD" (what would peeps do) unfortunately I still make bad choices, and then I feel guilty!!

Hang in there - drink more water?

How's the hockey coming?

Shannon...:wizard: for you that all will work out for this class. Why didn't your advisor realize you needed this class before now?!? :confused3

Thanks for the PD. Well, see, we don't really have advisors. Up until last semester we had one woman who was responsible for 400 students. And a couple semesters before that, the students were put in charge of picking and registering for their classes. Before that, we were on a specific schedule...take these classes this semester, then these, etc. So I was just going through and taking what was being offered if I needed it without any idea that my class was not offered next semester. So I did make a mistake, technically. But I had no reason to talk to an advisor (whom I don't even know) if I had no questions about it. It's all just really annoying. I can't wait til thursday to know for sure. Although, I have calmed down about it. A bit.

I thought this said "Buttload"....:rotfl2: Which would also be nice, I'm sure. :rotfl:

I totally read it the same way! :rotfl2:

:wizard: For you Shannon!!

It didn't look like an asthma attack to me though. There'd at least be some weezing (not heavy breathing) ? It looked too graceful, like a 40's actress fainting onto a lounge. I was tiVo'ing it and watched it over and over. I'm such a nosey Nellie! :rolleyes1 I will all read the news stories, but still doubt it was just a faint. I need to just let it go, don't I? :sad2:
You sound exactly like me :lmao: Thank goodness for my DVR, what in the world would I do without it! I am too nosey to let it go though. I must know all the dirt on any drama like that. ;)

I hear ya' on the not eating unless you know the home thing. I have seen too many kitchens I would never eat out of in my days of playdates in our moms groups and stuff. You never know.

I think the punch idea sounds fun! And I love those glove things too.

 WOW! You look amazing! Congrats on the big accomplishment.
(glad to hear my ghetto scanner idea worked for you so you could share them with us :rotfl: )

i love all kinds of music....new and old! the four bands/performers i NEVER miss are tori amos, john mayer, dave matthews band & incubus.

aaron - i meant to tell you, if you like bb king and like bluesy, electric guitar-powered music then you should really check out john mayer trio. i know john mayer is known for his poppy stuff, but he's really talented when it comes to guitar. he put out an album in 2005 (i think) with john mayer trio called "try" i'm sure you'd love. his last solo album was really more bluesy too compared to his other stuff.
Yep, you've got me pegged. My favorite types of music would be:

#1 - Blues
#2 - Southern Rock (again, very guitar driven)
#3 - Pretty much any rock, pop, Motown, etc. from the 40's - 70's (before the disco revolution)
#4 - Metal
#5 - Anything but Rap

Huh, I would have never guessed that John Mayer would be blusey. But I suppose when people think of James Taylor, they think of "Fire and Rain"; but he's also got some blusier stuff. I'll definitly check this out next time I'm CD shopping! (Which, by the way, happens way more than I'd like to admit.) Thanks for the tip!

Well, I can help you with who Fall Out Boy is once I get my pics uploaded. Actually, I can try this I guess. Here's a link to one of their videos on YouTube. (never linked to youtube before, hope it works)

Thanks for the link! Man, they look young.

You look fantabulous!!!

Hi Everyone! :wave2:

I got home from Martinsville, Va about 3 am yesterday morning. I was behind 11 pages but now I'm all caught up. :yay:

Pakey-----The race was pretty good. However, the race facility is really outdated and dangerous in lots of places. My sister-in-law tripped over broken concrete when we were leaving the grandstands. She hurt her ankle & it took us forever to walk the one mile back to our vehicle. She went to the doctor yesterday evening & her ankle is broken. I'm sure that sometime in the future we will go back, but to be honest, I have no desire for that to happen anytime soon. We really like Lowes and will be heading back there in May for the Coca-Cola 600, the Busch and Craftsman truck race. :woohoo: Just thought that I would share my weekend.

Oh BTW, I'm so happy about Junior coming on board with Hendrick. When speculation came about in the spring that Junior would be leaving DEI, I told my family that it would be so cool if he chose Hendrick Motorsports. And then he did. I was on cloud nine. :cloud9: Also, I don't quite "get" this weekend. I've never seen so many Jeff Gordon fans, at any race event that I've been too, like this weekend. Same with the cheers during driver introductions. The cheering drowned out the boos. It was pretty cool but a little eerie. :rotfl2:

Tara----Congratulations on the baby boy. This year's trend has certainly changed. The first half of the year was nothing but little girls being born (I personally know of about 14) and now everyone that I know is having or had boys (my sister & 2 sister-in-laws included).

MJ------Your before and after pics look absolutely amazing. Congratulations and keep up the good work. :thumbsup2

lol Francesca, it took me a moment to figure out what you were talking about - Junior... awww now I know!! My dad is a big #8 fan... I found a car in a parking lot with the #24 Blue and yellow colors - I :rotfl2: and told ds he needed that - they are getting married Jan 24 and their colors are Blue and Yellow - my dad nixed that idea... Jeff Gordon is 24... um.. ok :confused3

Watched Biggest loser and Dancing with Stars - wow wow wow!! BL that blue team is some piece of work - so jealous... I could never play like that!!

okay....i'll admit it. i scanned the last three pages so i'm kinda behind. i'm just super busy with work and planning this reception for anna. i'm more than willing to do it but it's a lot of work!

i did see someone mention rachel ray (not sure if that's spelled right) and i have to say every time i see her on TV i run very fast and very far away! she's just WAAAAAAAYYYYY to perky for me. which is funny because i've seen myself described as perky and bubbly here on the DIS and i don't see myself that way at all! and i hate the EVOO thing. just say the d*mn words, will ya???? :rotfl: but to each their own. we all like different things. it's what makes the world go 'round.

hang in there, kat! you were doing so good earlier this year and i KNOW you can keep going! it's so hard to get back in the groove after a lull, but it'll happen if you just keep trying.

hope your throat feels better soon, by the way.... sore throats are the worst!

john mayer has a tattoo on his arm that says SRV and that stands for stevie ray vaughn, if that tells you anything.

oh, and not only do they look young.....but they wear eyeliner! :scared1:

Ahhh..thanks for the RR 411 ;) i'm such a busy body!
Actually Greg ( my boyfriend)'s mother wrote the pattern for me..she is an amazing knitter/spinner..heck she has her own sheep even!!! The alpaca was 20 dollars a skain i believe at a sheep and wool festival i went to back in May....sooo flippen soft!

Hahahaha..i know it. i can handle 30 min meals but her actual talk show i can't take..although, she is not as akward as Martha Stewart. Don't get me wrong, i do like me some Martha..but oh my good lord...that woman can NOT interview anyone! She never knows what show/song/movie anyone is promoting and totally ignores them when they answer a question..its so akward to me, like Michael Scott from the office akward! :scared:

Thanks for the encouragement!! I have just been really down lately, and with being sick was having a poor-me-nobody-loves-me moment.

I need to start making better choices, definitely. And hockey is on hold for the fall, too much other stuff in the way.

Thankfully, the antibiotic shot to the hip seems to be working, well, that and the Vicodin, so I am feeling a lot better tonight. I woke up at 3AM last night literally crying from the pain so I am hoping for a much better night tonight!

Kat, I'm sorry to hear that!! Pain, not fun... horrible... and viocodin can mess with you emotionally - its all taking its toll - so grab a seat, and hang on!!
