Kat: Ohh I had strep for the first time last year and I couldn't believe the pain. I had the shot last month for my infection. Just love that shot! I had vike's too. Those are good. But don't tell Nebo. I have a special stash that were left over.

I better go count them.

MJ!!! You Rock!!!

Sandy: This is coming from a mom who deals with a son with major food allergies. Cross contamination? Of what? Nuts? Or everything?

I think if a parent took the time to make something homemade, there'd be a precise knowledge of the ingredients. Store bought things I can't trust.

Things I make, I can trust 100%.

Nice pic MJ. Loved the wedding pics Dawn. Shannon I hope everything works out!

I unfortunately have strep throat. Went to the dr today and got an antibiotic shot in the hip (ow!) and some vicodin for the pain, because man, the pain was bad.

I have not been doing well on the diet. Pounds haven't crept up too badly but also not that great. I am not sure I belong on this thread anymore...

Hey you most definitely belong here. Don't make me go on a hunt for you like I did for Sandy. (we're glad your back Sandy:grouphug: ) Hey now you are on the strep throat diet. :rotfl: You won't be able to eat anything because it feels like razor blades every time you swallow! ;) :scared1:

mj - You look great!

I SECOND that comment! You look MAHVELOUS!

Kat I can so relate -

I think you belong - you just need to be more of a taker - when you make choices, you will be reminded... "WWPD" (what would peeps do) unfortunately I still make bad choices, and then I feel guilty!!

Hang in there - drink more water?

How's the hockey coming?

Sandy you better not go anywhere again, or I'll come dig you up again. ;) :rotfl:

I LOVE the popcorn, candy corn, glove idea!! I think the worms in the punch is great too. The girls can just take them out of their glass if they don't like it. The boys will think it is totally cool!:thumbsup2

I thought this said "Buttload"....:rotfl2: Which would also be nice, I'm sure. :rotfl:

Glad I could provide some entertainment tonight. :rolleyes1

i did see someone mention rachel ray (not sure if that's spelled right) and i have to say every time i see her on TV i run very fast and very far away! she's just WAAAAAAAYYYYY to perky for me. which is funny because i've seen myself described as perky and bubbly here on the DIS and i don't see myself that way at all! and i hate the EVOO thing. just say the d*mn words, will ya???? :rotfl: but to each their own. we all like different things. it's what makes the world go 'round.

That was me mentioning RR. :wave2: I don't watch her either, but my SIL was on her show today. They remodeled her office which has 13, but soon to be 14, women working in it. If you saw it (and you can see it on her website, if you want;) ) my SIL was the one who had to turn off the AC so they could hear each other talk, and when they had to talk on the phone. The designer did an amazing job with their office space.:thumbsup2

Well, the dogs and I didn't win tonight. :sad2: There were a ton of dogs there tonight, and some very creative costumes. I thought ours was creative  , but not enough I guess. Trixie (the small one) was Thing 1, Shadow (the bigger one) was Thing 2, and I dressed up like the Cat in the Hat. I even sprayed their ears with blue hairspray. :scared1: :rotfl2: It doesn't work to good on a black dog though. :confused3 Oh well, we got a cute picture out of the deal. :cutie:

Francesca Sorry to hear about your friends' accident. You would think that with all the money those track owners are raking in since NASCAR became so popular, they would fix stuff like that. It was a good race (well except for another engine failure for that DEI #8). That's too funny about the cheers for J Gordon. I wonder if all of the Earnhardt fans are gonna lighten up now that he's going to be a teammate!!!! Lowe's would be a killer track to go to--I'm so jealous. I enjoy Busch series but I haven't gotten into Craftsman. With all the qualifying, practices, Bush, Nextel, Victory Lane, pre-race shows, my husband has about all of the Nascar he can stand.

Dawn I'm with you on Rachel Ray. I love Food network but I can't do her shows. Too perky. I did buy one of her cookbooks because they are the "easy" meals but we haven't had one recipe yet from the book that we liked. And I love EVOO (:lmao: ) so I know that's not the problem.

Kat Sorry to hear about your strep throat. I had it once as an adult and seriously, I thought I was done for. It was the worst pain. Dr. told me it's much tougher on adults who get it. Hopefully you will be feeling better soon.

MJ You look awesome in your pic. Way to go. That's a serious accomplishment. I'll post a pic one of these days but right now, I'm still trying to get my hair back from chemo and the bald pics, on top of the flabby body, are just too horrific to publish.

Aaron I just bought a set of CD's of the biggest hits from the 60s and early 70s (before disco). I feel like such a dork but I love that stuff. Time of the Season by the zombies, Crimson & Clover by Tommy James, etc. I haven't heard these in years but the words all came back as soon as they start playing.

Wendy Since you are a Utah Mama, can I change planes at SLC (same airline) with only a 20 minute layover? I just checked yesterday and Delta adjusted their times and that's all we're going to have on our return trip in January. Since there are no other flight options with Delta and I can't get a refund, I need to know if I should just have everyone pack pj's in their carryons and plan on spending the night in SLC. Hopefully you'll have time to let me know in between watching your TIVO of poor Marie's "spell".

Kat, I'm sorry to hear that!! Pain, not fun... horrible... and viocodin can mess with you emotionally - its all taking its toll - so grab a seat, and hang on!!

Thanks! Hey, I will take the emotion over the pain!

Kat: Ohh I had strep for the first time last year and I couldn't believe the pain. I had the shot last month for my infection. Just love that shot! I had vike's too. Those are good. But don't tell Nebo. I have a special stash that were left over.

The shot works well, but man it hurts! The site is still a bit sore. And hee!

Thanks!! :goodvibes I really needed that.

And the razor blades, so true.

Sorry about your doggies. The costumes sound really cute! I guess the judges just had bad taste! ;)

Sorry about your doggies. The costumes sound really cute! I guess the judges just had bad taste! ;)

No, they just had so many cute ones to choose from. I got beat by a family of super heroes (homemade), a dog, and a turtle. They went "all out". The winner was a great dane that was dressed up like a horse and was the pony express. He even had mail in his pocket.:rotfl: At least all they got were ribbons. Last year I got a gift card! :cool1:

Monica yes, cross contamination of the peanut kind - apparently there was an incident - I have no idea, I was just listening at the PTO sign up night a mom was really worried about the homemade treats...

I can only imagine - did you know that some pasta has a nut in it now that is so closely related to the peanut that it has caused reactions in people? It was in the news, a chef was so u pset when he told a family that his fetticinie alfredo was "safe" to eat for the son who had peanut allergies - he couldnt stand it - he also had a child with peanut allergies - he tracked it down to the ingredient in the pasta he got from Italy!!

Now I want to find and feel some Alpaca wool!! Cant wait to see the picture - be sure and get a close up of the stitches for me!!

WOOOOHOOOOOTTTTYYYYYY SANDY!!!!!! I knew it wouldn't take you very long to get there. Two days! :scared1: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

Packey I feel like I've been following you around the board!!

and I wondered why it takes me 60 min to make her 30 min meals!! LOL - I am a picky eater, so I dont make a lot - I did make her Cashew Chicken tonight - but instead of water chestnuts, I added sliced carrots, I omit the peppers, and I think something else... dh just LOL saying they arent really her recipes when I get ahold of them!!

I also love her Mini Meatloaf - she makes the meatloaf into small squares - and fries them in EVOO - so it takes a lot less time!! I again, take string cheese, cut it into halves and stuff it in the "patty square" -

Oh and her pork chop meal - wonderful - you marinate the pork chops in fresh orange juice (or you use the zest of the orange then squeeze the juice out of it) and Tamari (like soy sauce) Then you take the baby red potatoes, cut them in half toss them in EVOO - and roast them - then you take 4 macintosh apples, peel, dice them throw them in a pot with brown sugar and a touch of water (I never do that ) and then you start cooking the chops - then you throw some green beans into the roasting pan of ptoatoes (sckootch the taters down to make room, more evoo and salt and pepper they just need 10 min to cook - the potatoes 20) Oh and it has to be Macintosh apples!! (I tried it with Gala apples, but those apples hold their shape something firece!)

then there is her Balsamic Chicken recipe... I could go on!! roflol!!

dwheatl - i can't remember what part of Cal. you are from, but are you ok? Those fires are getting worse. My niece can't return to Pepperdine right now, due to the smoke closing down the interstate. :sad2:

Thanks for checking. We're hundreds of miles away. So far, my southern CA family is doing OK.

Peeps...I need major pixie dust here. Bring out the reserves.
Sorry. I remember those frustrating days. One day this will all be behind you. Hang in there!

I'm dreamin food..... omg - I just remembered, a talk show I listen to has a "Sx talk Thursday" that is informative at times, hilarious mostly - they were talking about "dreams" :rolleyes1 that night out of the blue I had a romantic date with Sean P Diddy Combs!! :confused3 :rotfl2:
I'm glad I'm not the only nutty dreamer. My dreams are like movies, complicated, and bizarre. Oh, and my SIL has a Bobby Sherman story. About 20 years ago, she and her BF were at the DL hotel on their balcony, and saw Bobby Sherman walk by. He was already way past his prime then, but they screamed and giggled like school girls.

Oh my goodness.
No treat bags.
No sugar.
No homemade treats?
What the heck?

And what is the reasoning on no homemade treats?

Our district has the same policy. Infectious things like e. coli and hepatitis are the reason. Today, we got an email that teachers can't help the kids pick up their lunches (which are sealed in packages). One of the workers told a first grade teacher that they couldn't be sure we washed our hands. :confused3 Whatever. It just means the teachers get a couple more minutes of free time at lunch.

Hi all... thought I'd share some pics. I've lost around 55 lbs. since last April. Sorry about the quality, I'm not a picture person, so the only pics I have are ones people have given me (and I don't have any electronically)... so I had to take pictures of the pictures with my dig cam.

This is my before pic from last spring (uggh)...

CIMG0268.jpg

And this is my "inprogress" pic from last weekend (that's me in the middle). I still want to lose quite a bit more, but this is motivation...

CIMG0272.jpg

Great work! You look wonderful!

I unfortunately have strep throat.

I have not been doing well on the diet. Pounds haven't crept up too badly but also not that great. I am not sure I belong on this thread anymore...
Sorry about the strep. I've had it a couple of times since starting teaching. It hurts, it's dangerous, and it will leave you run down for a while. Take it seriously, and get LOTS of rest.
Anyways, hang in there with us peeps. None of us is perfect, and that "all or nothing" mentality can put you in a very bad place. Just do your best, and when you are feeling better, make some small, achievable goals. You did it before, and you can do it again.

I said I'd tell you all when my Dsis had her thyroid biopsy. It was today. Please keep the prayers coming for good results.
I stopped by to see her this afternoon, and was attacked by my nemesis, the big bag of peanut M & M's.

I beat the early bird up?

Did Melinda wake up latish?

Another day of meeting with contractors.

I got my hair done finally the way I wanted it. Maybe I'll post a shoulders up photo.

My anniversary is coming up on Saturday. I'll tell you what I did after because he lurks at times. 12 years.

Have a great one!

GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

Am I the early bird? Please don't beat me up!

You people were chat-tay yesterday! Took me a while to catch up now I have no time to comment! Well....just a few...

KAT
....Please don't get discouraged! You inspire all of us with your stick-to-it attitude. You've done it before and you can do it again, girl. We believe in you! Hope you feel better soon! Double

MJ! You look fabulous! What a transformation! It really shows in the photos! Great job!!!!

EVERYBODY!!! :wave2:

I promise I'll try to get up earlier!

Have a great day!

Thankfully, the antibiotic shot to the hip seems to be working, well, that and the Vicodin, so I am feeling a lot better tonight. I woke up at 3AM last night literally crying from the pain so I am hoping for a much better night tonight!

Yikes...sorry you are sick. A few years ago I ended up having strep throat and it was way worse then I remembered it being when I was a kid. The Doc actually thought I might have meningitis because I was so swollen :scared1: But I didn't get an antibiotic shot...or vicodin! Just a regular old antibiotic and some very very strong Ibuprofen. Worked like magic though. Hope you feel better!

Hey!

I'm baaaaaaaack! Time to lose this baby weight.

Now, how do I do it? ;)

Congrats on the baby! and Welcome back!

Well Peeps, I've been up since 7 because my mom is having electricians install new lights in the bathrooms and kitchen. So I need to get up early so I could get my shower in. Well it is 8 and they aren't here yet (they said btwn 7:30 and 8:15) I'm tired already. Didn't sleep too well last night in addition to getting up earlier than usual.

Thanks for the pixie dust about my school situation. I should know tomorrow if the class is available and if I can take it. :wizard:

Have a great day peeps! :cutie:

Forgot to tell my Rachael Ray story. A few years ago she was doing a book tour for one of her cookbooks so my mom and I decided to go to one near our house since we were both free. Let me tell you, she was teeny tiny (short and petite) and just as perky as she is on TV. She signed mine, "To Shannon, Yum-o! RR" :rotfl2:

Now I want to find and feel some Alpaca wool!! Cant wait to see the picture - be sure and get a close up of the stitches for me!!

You got it! And yes, do yourself a favor and go grope some alpaca wool..preferably not while it is attached to the animal! They do spit:lmao:

Good luck to your Dsis! On a lighter note, i totally pictured someone being attacked by M & Ms though, and it was funny.

Hey!

Welcome back...what a cute baby!

Yum-O! :rotfl: Of course she would write that!
That reminds me of about 4 years ago i met the comdedian/actor Dane Cook..this was before he was big like he is now...he signed his comedy CD for me with " And the pickles..."..for those of you that know his comedy you might actually get that ;) And for those of you that don't , i suggest you listen to his bit called " the BK lounge"...soo funny.

Have a great day all y'all!

GUESS WHAT???

chicken butt. ;)

Hey!

I'm baaaaaaaack! Time to lose this baby weight.

Now, how do I do it? ;)

i remember you......welcome back!!!!! and congrats on the new little one!

I got my hair done finally the way I wanted it. Maybe I'll post a shoulders up photo.

please do!

:rotfl2: i LOVE dane cook....have for years. and the BK lounge bit.....i need some sweet and sour sauce RIGHT NOW!!!!!!! i always call burger king the BK lounge now. have you heard "retaliation"? sooo funny! i love the committing to the line bit...i hate it when people don't commit to the line!!! and ray now wants to name his kids octomis prime, megatron and....well, i can't type the other one. not because it's dirty but because it's a sound, not a word! oh, and you're very rude......enjoy your spaghetti. (by the way, if you've not heard that CD you're probably totally lost right now! :lmao: )

john mayer has a tattoo on his arm that says SRV and that stands for stevie ray vaughn, if that tells you anything.

oh, and not only do they look young.....but they wear eyeliner! :scared1:

I like John Mayer also, and I LOVE SRV!!! I have very eclectic taste in music. ;)

:rotfl: Actually only Pete wears eyeliner, I think. And not all the time. And when he doesn't... :faint: . Well, yes, he's young, and I'm married and old-ish, but he's hot! And my friend and her DH that came with us to the concert actually have been fans for a long time and used to go see them when they performed at a much smaller venue here in town (FOB is from a town about 2-3 hours from here.), and they have met them. This is why I know this much about them. I have NOT been reading teen magazines! :lmao: I just have a friend who was giving me a lot of FOB info prior to the concert. So, WHY didn't she drag me along to see them sooner? :confused3 And I actually don't know how old they are. I just know they formed the band in 2001, but I definitely have several years on them!

Thanks for the encouragement!! I have just been really down lately, and with being sick was having a poor-me-nobody-loves-me moment.

I need to start making better choices, definitely. And hockey is on hold for the fall, too much other stuff in the way.

Thankfully, the antibiotic shot to the hip seems to be working, well, that and the Vicodin, so I am feeling a lot better tonight. I woke up at 3AM last night literally crying from the pain so I am hoping for a much better night tonight!

I understand those moments Kat! Hang in there! You WILL get past this.

Hope the strep gets better soon! I used to get it every year, and then I got it once several years ago, and it was so bad that I formed a peritonsilar abcess (sp?) and had to be hospitalized for 3 days (without health insurance! :scared1: ). They gave me IV antibiotics, and I haven't had strep since. But I wouldn't recommend that route. ;) Hope you feel better soon!
