:rotfl2: i LOVE dane cook....have for years. and the BK lounge bit.....i need some sweet and sour sauce RIGHT NOW!!!!!!! i always call burger king the BK lounge now. have you heard "retaliation"? sooo funny! i love the committing to the line bit...i hate it when people don't commit to the line!!! and ray now wants to name his kids octomis prime, megatron and....well, i can't type the other one. not because it's dirty but because it's a sound, not a word! oh, and you're very rude......enjoy your spaghetti. (by the way, if you've not heard that CD you're probably totally lost right now! :lmao: )
so FUNNY..I was listening to Retaliation the other day while paying bills...CLASSIC..i love the " hit by a car" bit...:lmao: GOOD times :thumbsup2

I like John Mayer also, and I LOVE SRV!!! I have very eclectic taste in music. ;)

:rotfl: Actually only Pete wears eyeliner, I think. And not all the time. And when he doesn't... :faint: . Well, yes, he's young, and I'm married and old-ish, but he's hot! And my friend and her DH that came with us to the concert actually have been fans for a long time and used to go see them when they performed at a much smaller venue here in town (FOB is from a town about 2-3 hours from here.), and they have met them. This is why I know this much about them. I have NOT been reading teen magazines! :lmao: I just have a friend who was giving me a lot of FOB info prior to the concert. So, WHY didn't she drag me along to see them sooner? :confused3 And I actually don't know how old they are. I just know they formed the band in 2001, but I definitely have several years on them!

heeheeeheee...i love the "Well, yes, he's young, and I'm married and old-ish, but he's hot! Old-ish. :lmao: too funny.

What do you think? The bloody punch + adding some ghoulish gummies? I was thinking of putting a gummy candy (spider, eyeball etc) in each glass then adding punch to it? Wonder if that would be too gross tho?

That sounds like so much fun! And if you froze the gummies, they'd be like little ice cubes. :)

Hi all... thought I'd share some pics. I've lost around 55 lbs. since last April.

MJ - You look positively wonderful! It's funny, I don't see many pictures of myself but when I do see them, I always have a negative reaction...then I'll come across a pic of myself from 2+ years ago, when I was 40-50lbs heavier and I think, "Whoa!"

I'll have to see if I can drum up some before/after shots and put them up here (or maybe it should be before/during, since I'm still 60ish lbs from my goal).

I unfortunately have strep throat. Went to the dr today and got an antibiotic shot in the hip (ow!) and some vicodin for the pain, because man, the pain was bad.

I have not been doing well on the diet. Pounds haven't crept up too badly but also not that great. I am not sure I belong on this thread anymore...

Kat, I don't have strep, but I understand your throat woes. Every year I'm visited with 1-2 viral throat infections...and guess what I woke up with this a.m.??? Just in time for the busiest week ever! And the BF's birthday weekend. Ugh. The only symptom is my throat being on fire, so I can't complain too much. It's just crappy because the doc won't prescribe anything for it since it mostly just needs to resolve itself. I hope you feel better soon!

And don't worry about feeling "off". We all go through it and when you're ready and feeling better, you'll get yourself back on track. For me, sometimes I just wake up one morning and that's it, depression's over! Other times, I resolve the things in my own time and then go looking for the 'diet wagon' once I can focus.

That reminds me of about 4 years ago i met the comdedian/actor Dane Cook..this was before he was big like he is now...he signed his comedy CD for me with " And the pickles..."..for those of you that know his comedy you might actually get that ;) And for those of you that don't , i suggest you listen to his bit called " the BK lounge"...soo funny.

punkin:i LOVE dane cook....have for years. and the BK lounge bit.....i need some sweet and sour sauce RIGHT NOW!!!!!!! i always call burger king the BK lounge now. have you heard "retaliation"? sooo funny! i love the committing to the line bit...i hate it when people don't commit to the line!!! and ray now wants to name his kids octomis prime, megatron and....well, i can't type the other one. not because it's dirty but because it's a sound, not a word! oh, and you're very rude......enjoy your spaghetti. Aaaahhhh, Dane. :lmao: I met him too after a set at the Comedy Connection in Fanueil Hall. He's great. He's been in town as of late shooting his next movie, but I haven't seen him out and about. He's hysterical. And I second the suggestion, check out his CDs, they're hysterical! And he has a new one out in November, the 13th, I think it is.

Gina - not sure if you heard but he's also performing on two dates at the 'Gahden'. Tix for the crappiest seats were $45-$65 with the good seats (but not floor seats) at $110!!! :scared1: I'm going to pass and just by the CD. :thumbsup2

punkin:
chicken butt. ;)

I saw this t-shirt in an add this morning and immediately thought of you:

Good morning peeps. Hope you are all having a good day. I'm doing better ('cept for the throat issues) now that my quiz is over and it's Wednesday. Only 2 days and some hours until my 3-day weekend! :woohoo:

Aaahhh....how I need it.

Hi all... thought I'd share some pics. I've lost around 55 lbs. since last April. Sorry about the quality, I'm not a picture person, so the only pics I have are ones people have given me (and I don't have any electronically)... so I had to take pictures of the pictures with my dig cam.

This is my before pic from last spring (uggh)...

CIMG0268.jpg

And this is my "inprogress" pic from last weekend (that's me in the middle). I still want to lose quite a bit more, but this is motivation...

CIMG0272.jpg
My! Aren't you shrinking! What a motivation for us! Thanks!!!!!
Wendy Since you are a Utah Mama, can I change planes at SLC (same airline) with only a 20 minute layover? I just checked yesterday and Delta adjusted their times and that's all we're going to have on our return trip in January. Since there are no other flight options with Delta and I can't get a refund, I need to know if I should just have everyone pack pj's in their carryons and plan on spending the night in SLC. Hopefully you'll have time to let me know in between watching your TIVO of poor Marie's "spell".
Hee Hee, I did watch it over and over and I watched every available exclusive interview etc. My opinion is I love her to pieces, but, don't know for sure. Donny's explanation was the best. I SOOOOO need to get a life!

Yes, a 20 min. layover is do-able easily. Just enough to go potty and walk briskly to the next plane. I wish it was a hour or more

ooops, sorry to thread hog (oink) but I have to share a diet DOOM I turned into a success.

Yesterday I was really hungry at noon so I cooked a Marie Callender's Chicken Pot Pie. After eating it, I went to throw away the packaging and noticed the calories for this 4" pie were 640! :scared1: CRAPPPPP! What's sad is I almost made TWO because I was still sort of hungry. :scared:

So for dinner I ate fresh steamed veggies with spray "s'not butter" and some Mrs. Dash.

:cheer2:

I love chicken pot pies so I need to think of a way to make them more diet-y. Like fat free cream of __ soup with veggies and chicken baked into a Phyllo dough shell? Hmmm

Our district has the same policy. Infectious things like e. coli and hepatitis are the reason. Today, we got an email that teachers can't help the kids pick up their lunches (which are sealed in packages). One of the workers told a first grade teacher that they couldn't be sure we washed our hands. :confused3 Whatever. It just means the teachers get a couple more minutes of free time at lunch.

...

Sorry about the strep. I've had it a couple of times since starting teaching. It hurts, it's dangerous, and it will leave you run down for a while. Take it seriously, and get LOTS of rest.
Anyways, hang in there with us peeps. None of us is perfect, and that "all or nothing" mentality can put you in a very bad place. Just do your best, and when you are feeling better, make some small, achievable goals. You did it before, and you can do it again.

I said I'd tell you all when my Dsis had her thyroid biopsy. It was today. Please keep the prayers coming for good results.
I stopped by to see her this afternoon, and was attacked by my nemesis, the big bag of peanut M & M's.

Never thought about diseases being passed through homeade treats before! :scared1:

Thanks for the encouragement! I really need to work on my all or nothing mentality, it is a problem in more of my life than just dieting.

Keeping my fingers crossed for your dsis!

KAT
....Please don't get discouraged! You inspire all of us with your stick-to-it attitude. You've done it before and you can do it again, girl. We believe in you! Hope you feel better soon! Double

Have a great day!

Aww thanks!!

Yikes...sorry you are sick. A few years ago I ended up having strep throat and it was way worse then I remembered it being when I was a kid. The Doc actually thought I might have meningitis because I was so swollen :scared1: But I didn't get an antibiotic shot...or vicodin! Just a regular old antibiotic and some very very strong Ibuprofen. Worked like magic though. Hope you feel better!

Congrats on the baby! and Welcome back!

Well Peeps, I've been up since 7 because my mom is having electricians install new lights in the bathrooms and kitchen. So I need to get up early so I could get my shower in. Well it is 8 and they aren't here yet (they said btwn 7:30 and 8:15) I'm tired already. Didn't sleep too well last night in addition to getting up earlier than usual.

Thanks for the pixie dust about my school situation. I should know tomorrow if the class is available and if I can take it. :wizard:

Have a great day peeps! :cutie:

Shannon, I have talked to a few pharmacist friends and they were like wow, a shot! They said the dr must either be candy-happy, or thought it was a particularly bad case. He took one look in my throat and winced, so maybe the latter.

I got strep a bunch as a kid too, and have had it about every other year over the past 10-12 as an adult. This is the worst that I ever remember it being. I think I had a really, really stressful week last week followed by a Sat night/Sun AM that I was up until 6AM for work, and it could have lowered my immune system enough to make it really hit hard.

I understand those moments Kat! Hang in there! You WILL get past this.

Hope the strep gets better soon! I used to get it every year, and then I got it once several years ago, and it was so bad that I formed a peritonsilar abcess (sp?) and had to be hospitalized for 3 days (without health insurance! :scared1: ). They gave me IV antibiotics, and I haven't had strep since. But I wouldn't recommend that route. ;) Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks Lynda!!

Wow that sounds really painful!! I am terrified of being without health insurance.

Pics!!

Sorry about the throat... it sucks when you have those "only time will heal" health issues. I was lucky in that, mine was very treatable and I already feel at least 50% better after drugs.

Thanks for the encouragement! All of you have made me feel so much better, I can't even express my gratitude. Thanks for being here!

Oh, and lauren, welcome back. You lose baby weight the way that some of the rest of us lose any weight, except you have the excuse! And the beautiful result, as well. :)

Fall Out Boy ROCKS!

(does it surprise you this housewife from Utah LOVES Fallout boy and My Chemical Romance?????)

MISHEARD LYRICS of...

Here's the cute kitty version...FUNNY!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LucfKdukf10

I LOVE that you love Fall Out Boy! :) And my friend who came to the show with us also recommended My Chemical Romance, among some other bands, that I should listen to (I think the others were Lucky Boys Confusion and Something Corporate.). She is making me a CD to check out of several bands, I think. I'll have to check out the misheard lyrics tonight at home. That should be good! ;) DH loves them too, but can't understand a lot of what they are saying, so I'll have to share with him too. And I'll also try to get my pics from the concert up tonight. AND video if I can figure that whole mess out. I was really impressed with how well the video from my tiny little point and shoot came out!

cool!
and ray now wants to name his kids octomis prime, megatron and....well, i can't type the other one. not because it's dirty but because it's a sound, not a word! oh, and you're very rude......enjoy your spaghetti. (by the way, if you've not heard that CD you're probably totally lost right now! :lmao: )

Dawn, did your husband get a phone call from octimis prime. My DS26 found the website where you could arrange to have "him" call through a cell phone download. It would go "Ray, this is octimis prime, we are contacting you......because your wife, Dawn, has joined up with megatron.......

It is hysterical. DS26 sent the call, personalized, to a ton of people. Then when I went to LA, my DIL31 said she got one too.

Nothing else happening. Wendy, thanks for the SLC airport update. I still can't believe we'll make it with 20 minutes but I'm not going to stress over it. DH and I are very easygoing so if we don't make it, no big deal. However my cousin's DH is not a roll with the punches kind of guy and since I arranged the vacation, I feel kind of responsible. But I cannot control the airlines.

I hope everyone has a great day. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the S Ca fires. DS31's house is in Glendale/Pasadena and I saw a fire symbol on the map last night that looked pretty close to there. DH is calling them this morning to check on them.

Thanks Lynda!!

Wow that sounds really painful!! I am terrified of being without health insurance.

And I was a paramedic at the time! Makes so much sense that the county didn't offer it's paramedics health insurance, doesn't it? I'll never go without health insurance again!

SLC airport sounds a lot like TF Green in Providence, RI. It takes, quite literally, 3 minutes to walk end to end, with no walking in and out of Security, as there is only one entrance to all 30ish gates. It's my favorite airport to fly out of...especially when Orlando is the destination.

Our home airport of Fresno is pretty small too (although it is called an international airport because it has one flight to Mexico). But there are no flights across the U.S. We can go as far as Denver, SLC or Dallas and then we have to change to get to Orlando. I like the Dallas connection but the tickets were $300 more apiece going that route than through SLC so I figured we would give it a try. We went to SLC once on a ski trip but I don't remember much about the airport.

All right, I think I need to start having kids just so I can understand what the heck you guys are talking about! My Chemical Romance? That's a band, I'm assuming? And this Dane Cook guy. Is he the one who does those "There's only one October" baseball playoffs commercials? I think I've seen him before, and didn't really understand why he was supposed to be funny. But I guess it is the same as Carlos Mencia. I just don't get him, either. Give me Bill Cosby any day of the week. But that's just me.

That's him. And I'm a HUGE Robin Williams fan. Cosby is pretty funny too.

Yes, My Chemical Romance is a band, although at this point I couldn't tell you what songs they sing. Give me a week or two, and I'm sure my friend will have enlightened me.

Dane Cook - haven't seen his stand-up yet, but I would like to check it out. Have seen Employee of the Month, which he was in, and thought it was funny! :thumbsup2
