I'm HOME!! :yay:

It was only a 6 hour drive!! Traffic not too bad, and the rain held off - but it sure is hot out!!

I read that about the artificial sweetner too Wendy - so I treat myself to real Dr Pepper maybe once a month - I try and stay away tho - and when I first was going to switch to Diet soda, a frend sent me to a website that scared me away from asparatme!

I ate like a pig! *oink *oink Chinese food, cake, throw in a Bailly's Irish Cream and I'm floating, bloating, and hot flashing like mad!

(dont forget the prunes to clean you out tho!! )

I need a nap, those darn thunder boomers were extreme around 3 and 4:30 am - 2 waves of all yellow and red right over my parents house!! Yep, I turned on the tv at 3 and 4:30 to see how long it was going to last - it was an area the size of a dime, just sitting where I was sleeping -

back later taters!!:dance3:

Hey all! I went to the doctor last week and he asked me if I was drinking diet soda. He said no more than 1 glass a day. He also said that your body turns it into FORMALDEHYDE:eek: . I don't know what that means... I have never heard that before. And if millions of people are drinking it.....:confused3 . But he has the PHD, and he is really a good doctor...always giving extra (useful, useless) information. While I was there, I got a prescription for Adipax. I took it for 4 days and had a REALLY bad reaction. I knew it was to good to be true. So now it's strictly counting calories, and EXERCISE. I always feel so much better when I exercise, it makes me feel proud of myself for doing it. Stronger literally, climbing stairs and walking, or even picking up things, is sooo much easier when you've been working out. Even a little. I can tell a difference in the month or so since I started. I just wish I really wanted to do it more, instead of thinking of it as a chore about on the same level as cleaning toilets. Afterwords, it's great, and I'm glad I've done it, but before? Blech.:sad2:

I cannot drink anything with apartame----it gives me migraines. Be careful a lot of the water flavoring mixes have this in them. Could not figure it out why I would get a bad headache after drinking my water and then looked at the packageing--sure enought it is there----I use splenda and it does not affect me in any way like the other stuff does. I have to be very careful about looking at that stuff--I sure do miss my water f;avorings---one avery once ina while and I am ok--but more than that and I suffer. Well I am off to the Dr. Check in later---wow my typing is getting worse

D.O- Beauty-ful!!! Your DD just glows! I love her face while dancing! :cutie:

Ok. I've drank nearly a gallon so far. I am trying! For lunch, it'll be a big plate of veggies (no butter or cheese!) and some chicken breast. And more Crystal Lite. Slosh slosh slosh!

I'm working on a 4-animal print outfit for Norah for Animal Kingdom. So far, it will be precious! I can easily coordinate all the rest of us with beiges and kakhis, and the like. Easy! I am drawing a blank on an MGM outfit!

Plus, has anyone heard if Rockin Rollercoaster will be down while we're there? OH NOOOOO! That's our favorite!

I def agree! The wedding pics are great!

Also, for MGM-- I like a 50s movie star through back feel. Like I had this black shirt with a white tank underneath that had big stars on it that just reminded me of old hollywood. lol im a newb. Or there is always the sorcerer mickey stuff?

I read something recently that stated your body is not being fooled by the artificial sweetner and it will make you feel hungry or crave sweets to get the sugar fix. I've read in the past that people who drink diet soda have a harder time losing weight and in some cases, weigh more than people who drink regular sodas. The catch 22 sucks.

DSis's b-day today. We celebrated last night with chocolate cake......... I really tried to be good. Hopefully it wonn't show too badly on the scale tomorrow.
I agree-- anything but splenda makes me crave sweets like they are going out of style.

Welcome home!
Yesterday I took the 4 kids I nanny for to Lake Compounce which is a theme park in CT. It was 90 minutes each way and I have new respect for anyone with more than one kid who puts them in a vehicle. lol!

I don't understand exactly why this is either, but it MIGHT have something to do with carbonation. Not that carbonation itself would make you gain weight, but I don't think it helps your digestive system too much. (At least not mine sometimes.) Part of the reason I was able to give up soda (during the week - i still drink it on weekends along with my water, but not as much as I used to) was that I was having that heartburn issue, and I discovered that it helped my heartburn and other digestive problems when I stopped drinking the soda. I don't know the answer either, and I've been wondering. But I bit the bullet and gave up the soda. Just not completely. ;)

I never knew this about soda before. I'm addicted to Diet Dr. Pepper & usually drink 2-3 a day. I'm going to try really hard to kick the habit & try to drink only water & water w/crystal light mix from now on. I'm now officially scared of Aspartme.

GAYLE....The pictures are great! The girls are beautiful....are they identical? You know I think Theo is the cutest! :)

WENDY....All that artificial sweetner cannot be good for you! Just taper off drinking it. Just taper off one per week. And when you get to WDW...no temptation! Coke only! Really....for millions of years there was nothing to drink on earth but water....all that water can't be wrong. AND your right about the vitamin. I take it too.

NONI....I don't think I ever commented on the job although in my head I said :yay:

HEATHER....Yay for Braxton Hicks! Have the rest been c-section? I think this one is a scheduled c-section right? Is there a chance you will go into labor? Oh joy?! :confused3

MEL
....Sorry bout your apartment problems.

MAJIC....Yes! Formaldehyde! Gayle (DisneyObsession) is allergic to formaldehyde and her Dr. told her to stop drinking diet soda! Good for you for exercising!!!

Lynda, Punkin, Becky, Gina, and everbody.....:wave2:

Here are a few more pics from the wedding. I realized I didn't have one yet of my DH, but I can't find one. I'll work on that. Here is my DD, Alison, Andrew and Theo.

Your DDs are just beautiful! They both just beam, don't they? :goodvibes Great pics!

The Crystal Light packets still use Aspartame. The Lipton packets use Splenda, and there are also Celestial Seasoning packets that are all natural. I only use certain Crystal Light packets now, and not all the time. I use more of the others. They are good too! :thumbsup2

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome! I keep hearing WATER...now that's something I can start with, drinking more water! (I could trade Pepsi for water, at least sometimes!). I'll also keep moving. I'm keeping track of your top 5's and I'll post my weight increase/decrease on Friday.

Let's see, eeyore45 wants to know more about me, so here goes: I am a SAHM of two (usually? sometimes?) sweet kids, a boy (6 months) and girl (3 years). I've been in love with Disney for a long time. My first trip to the World was at 8 months, then again at 3 and 5 with a LONG drought until I was 12. DH and I went there on our honeymoon and brought our daughter along when she was 1 1/2. I also love music, reading, and Lake Michigan (I live on the "West Coast" of MI), and am rapidly becoming addicted to the Disboards! Hey, just trying to keep the magic alive.

I don't have a "Top Five Weight Loss Tips" list because I've never been too successful at losing any! After my DD was about a year old I started exercising every day and did lose about 10 pounds. I would have had more success, I think, if I'd changed the way I ate at the time.

About aspartame: My mom has fibromyalgia and stopped drinking aspartame and had marked improvement. For some reason she’s started drinking diet Coke again - maybe just for extra zip at work? But she hasn’t been feeling as well lately. I don’t know if it helps or hinders weight loss, but I’ve read that drinking caffeine makes you want to eat more. Unfortunately that doesn’t stop me from loving my fountain Pepsi!

Thanks again everyone! Cheers to all of you!

I said a couple of weeks ago my grandmama wasn't doing great. She did die on Sunday and so we had the funeral today. We said it was a long day as they tend to be but it was good. We had a good visit with family we don't get to see often. And knowing she had been doing well until recently and she slipped away peacefully makes it easy to know she's better off.

Wishing everyone a good tomorrow!

I am so sorry about your grandma.

Thank YOU! I have such a sweet tooth right now! This looks good!
Does it mean 1 TUB of crystal Lite? Or one little pkt. you would add to bottle water? I'll assume tub.

I meant to type tub too!

Oh Ya, I'm planning on being there! It's being held at POP by the Hippy Dippy (???) on the 22nd of Sept. We'll just barely be arriving at around 8pm so we're bringing our glow sticks!!! I think it's going on till LATE.

Please come and play with a HUGE group of DISsers!

How I wish I could be going to this peep meet!!!!!!!

And the clothes you made Nora are just toooooooo cute! Is there a way you can teach someone to do that long distance. I've been around the crafty boards and just looked with envy. I've never even tried a sewing machine. My neighbor is a whiz and she makes these beautiful quilts and she's going to make Madelyn one like she did for Malorie.

You were talking earlier about decorating your windows for your stay at POP. You all should. We did, had loads of fun doing it and I loved walking around the resort and looking at the windows other did. We were there for christmas and some people went all out with christmas lights and tress.

If you are there for halloween, you can do the same.

This link was a group I participated in that passed around boxes we shared of decorationgs. Like a fridge swap but with window decorations instead. Look through it for ideas if you want.

I have so much more to catch up on.

Night and later!

Well I guess one old bad habit will have to go, and I am terrifed to quit for fear of getting even bigger if thats possible.....smoking!

Love you guys!

Fidgey, please quit the smokes. I quit by taking a class through the American Lung Association. They said smoking a pack a day was the equivalent of carrying 70 extra pounds. The reason you get pneumonia as a smoker (or worse, those who get emphysema) is the smoke causes the little hair-like things in your lungs to get brittle and break off. Those hairs are supposed to move all of the carp out of your lungs, and when they break off, all that carp sits in your lungs. :scared: Nasty!

..ok so if this post is TMI..i completely apologize, but i just really wanted to share this health issue here in hopes that someone has some insight on it, and you are all such wonderful advice givers!
It is possible to overdose on fiber, especially the kind of fiber that's in high fiber cereals. Also from dried fruit, like plums. It doesn't seem to happen with fresh fruits and vegetables, I think maybe because they have their own water that fills you up before you overdose. The symptoms are the same as you describe. So moderation in everything really is the key. Let's hope it's this, because it's pretty easy to fix.

I have been having Braxton Hicks all week--lets just say I neverr ever had those with teh other 3. Acutally I have been having them for about 4 weeks, but this week has been the worst. I have also been having muscle cramps like crazy. Go to the Dr. this afternoon--will see what he says.

Sorry for the owies. Hope the dr. has good things to say.

Is it me, or can Angelina Jolie use a good sandwich?
Maybe we should send her all of our "red light foods" we want to get rid of ?!?

So, I am a very depressed peep. We are having horrible apartment hunting luck and it seems like we are going to have to get rid of our dog. I am trying so hard. I love him so much. He is like my baby but we are running out of options.
I'm praying for you Tink. Hang in there.

OK, I have a confession to make. I am back where I was in November. I had lost 12 lbs. and was 6 lbs. from goal, and now I've put the 12 lbs. back on. It started with vacation weight, and I thought I'd take it off when we got back. Now life is in such turmoil with my mom, I feel totally out of control on the eating. I'm trying to stick with water and exercise, but I haven't been accountable on the eating in weeks. I think it's gonna take a few of you to pull me back on the wagon. OK, pity party is over. I'm going to try to get to bed at a decent hour tonight. Happy weigh-in day, and I'll be back tomorrow night.

HAPPY WEIGH IN DAY, EVERYONE! :sunny:

Can't wait to see those big numbers!

Have a wonderful day!

wow......it's been really quiet here since yesterday. where are all the peeps???

we are here for you when you're ready, danielle!!! i totally understand with the stress eating. and with what you're going through, you have nothing to feel guilty about! hop back on this wagon any time!!!!! :goodvibes

i can't believe i'm the first one to weigh in and it's already 8:00 a.m. here! did everyone take this friday off?

i'm -1 pound this week. i'm just glad that little sucker decided to stay off since yesterday. usually i weigh more on weigh-in day than i did the day before! but i did some cardio last night, so i'm thinking that's what kept it off. i need it though....my dad and brother are coming on sunday and i never eat well when i have company! and i'm sure i'll be ready for a drink within 24 hours of their being here....they drive me to drink!

happy friday, everyone! i'm off to work......have a good day! :flower3:

p.s. BB fans - i couldn't believe what i was seeing with dick and jen last night. how old are we??????

OK, so I goofed! I forgot to weigh in before I showered  , and considering AF is here, and I ate like a pig on my weekend away, I needed no help from wet hair in making me weigh any more. :sad2: I will try to remember to weigh in tomorrow morning and post, but if I forget, I will definitely post numbers next week! I weighed a couple of days ago, and I did some damage on that trip. :scared: But with AF here, I am hoping that a lot of it is water retention, and I can get rid of most of it by next week.

:cool1: :cool1: -2 LBS!!!:cool1: :cool1:

I'm shocked, amazed, and happy as a clam -- I haven't been all that good this week (esp. tuesday and wednesday)... Oh well. Today's another day.

Good luck to all of the peeps! Happy thoughts to those who gained and congratulations to the losers and samers!

I'm a samer this week. I start backt o work on Mon and I'll be on my feet and moving for several hours a day so I'm sure I'll lose a bit next week.

We're headed out to do something as a family before I start work. We're thinking Connor Prairie so I'll be doing lots of walking today.

Have a good weigh in peeps!

Hi all! Remember me? Due to an increased work load at work and an unusually busy life outside of work, I've fallen back into full fledged lurking mode lately. But I havn't forgot about you, and I hope everyone is doing well!

I lost 1.2 pounds this week. This brings me to a grand total of 35.2 pounds lost since the start of the year (hello new bling!); an uber-grand total of 59.2 pounds lost since April 2005; and I am now 25.8 pounds away from my goal weight of 155. Next week is going to be a real struggle for me. Our town's annual festival is this weekend; my wedding anniversary is Monday so we are going to the zoo and then out for a nice dinner afterwards; a friend from the west coast is in town so I am going out with him on Wednesday; and our county fair starts on Thursday. I'm going to need all the willpower I can muster up to keep from gaining 5 pounds (good bye new bling!).

Good luck to all this week!

p.s. BB fans - i couldn't believe what i was seeing with dick and jen last night. how old are we??????
Oh, I know! That was my thought exactly. And you know, I was actually starting to warm up to Jen the past few weeks. But then her little pouty "I'm upset that I got out played so I'm going to eat and I don't care if Big Brother penalizes me" routine made me sick. It reminded me of a little 5-year old who never learned to be a gracious loser. So I'm glad she's gone.

-.8 for a total of 50.0 lbs

So I have to take a moment and share a story with you. I had a minor meltdown last night that I am sure most of the people on this thread can sympathize with...

Most of my clothes are too big (as you can imagine) and last night, to celebrate a milestone, I went to buy a couple of pairs of shorts (it's still hot in Texas!). I grabbed about 7 or 8 things to try on. I am about a size 16 right now and that's what I had (or so I thought). I found a cute red skort in a 16 and another pair of shorts. I realized a couple of things I picked up were actually a 14. I figured I would try them on anyway to see how they fit and just hold them closed rather than button them. I pulled them on... buttoned them.... zipped them up... and commenced to crying my eyes out right there in the dressing room. I totally came apart. I can't remember the last time I wore a size 14. It's been a while (i can tell you that). I am so glad that I had tissues in my purse, otherwise I would have been a complete mess coming out of there.

So, here is my next problem.... I realized something else in that dressing room. I have absolutely NO IDEA how to shop for and buy clothes that flatter my body. Before, I bought things based on only one criteria.... Can I get this garment around my body and button/snap/zip it. I paid NO attention to how it fit or flattered me (or didn't flatter me).

Do any of you have a book/website/ideas about how to buy clothes?

So anyway, the purpose of this story is to tell all of you thanks. I am getting thru this with the help of so many wonderful people.
