Aaron Sorry you didn't get many trick or treaters but good for you that you took the leftover candy to the office for all of your co-workers who are not on the "health kick":rotfl2:
:lmao: I brought in a large bowl full of candy this morning, and I'd say 3/4 of it is gone. Better them eating it than me, I guess.

Glad that you guys know what you are going to do. Nothing like the stress of figuring out jobs. With you kitchen--how long do they think it will take to do? Will you start after the holidays are as soon as possible? Also, what changes do plan on making? The next change we will make is granite counter tops. Then we will redo kust my shower area. Wish I would have watched all these home redo shows before we built 2 years ago. They have given me so many new ideas :rotfl: DH just does not appreciate them :rotfl: Good luck with the renovation---ket us know what you decide.

I'm sad Tim couldn't take the job. He deserved this promotion. It just wasn't his time I guess. Maybe there's something bigger and better coming his way in the future.

If I order my cabintry this week, they'll be ready in 3 weeks and he said he could have it done before Christmas.

I will take pictures of the kitchen and post and explain what we are having done.

Aaron:My Turkey Day Challenge is: 10 pounds. Please add me. Thanks.

How exciting! I love seeing before and after pictures of remodeled houses. When I watch "House Hunters", I always hope they take the house that needs work, because I really want to see the transformation.

You got it! Is that 10 pounds from today? Or do you want to retroactively add progress from the past few weeks?

I love House Hunters--one of my fav shows. DH hates that I watch that channel. Can't wait to see the before/afters from the remodeling.

OK, I'm going to admit this to you guys. When we moved into this new house 4 years ago, I thought I'd be a nice wife and I surprise sponge-painted the garage. We have a 3 car garage and DH uses the small car garage as a work area. I thought I made is so cute. Well, DH is a guy and guys don't particularly want their work areas sponge painted. Silly Faith, didn't think about that first. So now when any man comes over who hasn't been there before, my DH gives them a tour of his garage that he says looks like a baby nursery with clouds.

So I'm warning all of you peeps not to watch too much HGTV because this is what happens to you.

Hi guys, I need some help from you experienced planners. ;)

They just released the codes for my stay in Jan. I called this morning and they had availability at Pop, but here is my question. It saved me less than $100. Is it worth returning my tickets to UT, and switching to a package deal that has to be paid for on Nov. 25th! That is right at Thanksgiving, and the bill will come at Christmas. :scared1: :scared1:

I also thought about adding the dining plan. That would be an extra $191. Can you trade TS credits for CS credits? I know that dd would rather eat at the fast food places more than the sit down restaurants. I do have one Character Meal planned, but no others.

Or should I wait and see if they issue a "room only" code for my time frame. Sorry to bother everyone with this, but I just don't know what to do. Maybe I should just leave it all well enough alone. :confused3

Right now my room is $369, and the tickets were $486.90. I would be charged $25 + shipping to return them. That is a total of $880.90. The package deal, which includes free park hopping water park & more option, is $788.04. If I add dining it is $979.96. I was trying to stay under $1500 total. My plane tickets are $475. The race fee was $65. With the dining option it comes to be $1522. Without dining it is $1330.54. DD is NOT a big eater, so I don't know if the dining plan is worth it.

Please tell me what to do.

 This is why my wife and I have an agreement - she can do all the decorating she wants, as long as I get final approval. It helps prevent these sorts of problems from occurring.

Well, I can't really speak from experience on rescheduling, but I will tell you that I felt like the DDP was a waste of money for us in September. Because of my "health kick" (I think that'll be an inside joke that I won't soon forget), I got used to not eating as much; and my wife isn't a real big eater to begin with. So we ended up cancelling a few of our ADR's and decided to share a BBQ pork sandwich or some similar type of food from a CS place. Unfortunately, we ended up leaving I believe 3 TS credits apiece unused. Not a good use of our money, for sure. But not knowing you and your family's eating habits, it might make sense for you to add it. We loved it when we were on our honeymoon in Aug '05. I just know that we didn't take advantage of it this last time and probably lost money on the deal, even after figuring in how much the TS meals we did eat would have cost us if not for the DDP. (Got all that?) We did use the "trade one TS credit for two CS credits" thing once when we were there. But I'm not sure if that is still an option.

See I think we will end up sharing a meal. Like getting a hot dog meal with fries, and dividing it. That will be plenty for the two of us. I guess if I had more TS ADRs I might think it was worth it. We are both small eaters. Trading a TS for two CS sounds tempting though. :rolleyes1

Thanks for your input. I guess I am like anyone else. I want to go for the cheapest amount, and get the most bang for my buck.

My Trick-or-Treating was very disappointing.

sorry halloween was a disappointment for you! we didn't have as many kids this year either, but it was because the street light in my area was out i think. and you're right.....kids are too lazy!!!

Is it just me or should there be an age limit for trick or treaters? I saw just to many teenagers and then people with itty bitty babies and trick or treating for them. Yes, there were other kids, but does the 9mth old with no teeth need a bag?

no, it's not you. i think if you're old enough to get a job then you're too old to trick-or-treat. i had a couple of teenagers come to my door last year without costumes. i asked them what they were supposed to be for halloween and they said, "we're boyfriend and girlfriend." i didn't give them any candy. :snooty:

:lmao: that's too funny! luckily my DH is very open to a lot of my decorating ideas. we sponge-pained our bedroom a couple of years ago and he actually helped me. i'll see if i can dig up a pic if you're interested.

aldisneygrl - no advice......but good luck with all that! i'm having frustrations planning our trip too. i was planning our last full day to be at MK but now they've come out with the may 2008 calendar and they close at 7:00 on that day. :confused3 i don't think it's a grad night either. i'm hoping for a P&P party, but it's still frustrating because no one knows and i can't plan until i find out!

funny story: i was at the mall today and was walking through a little alleyway in between barnes & noble and the actual mall. i noticed a little old man with white hair and a long white beard talking to some kids. as i got closer i noticed that his red sweatshirt said, "yeah, i'm him." he saw me looking at it and said, "i've got something for you, too!" and handed me a candy cane. then he said, "you know who i am, right?" i said, "i sure do! isn't it a little early for you?" he said, "nope.....i'm around all year...you just don't know it!" then he walked away. I THINK I MET THE REAL SANTA!!!!!! okay......just had to share that. it was a really cute and yet oddly creepy moment! :santa:

I think you answered your own question. You can't trade a TS for a CS. At least we were not allowed to. IF you think you will share a meal then the dining plan isn't for you. I think I would just leave it and take my chances on a room only.

That is kind of creepy. How did the kids react? Glad you played along.

aldisneygirl I have to agree with Aaron on the dining plan. DH and I tried it twice and both times, we just thought it was too much food for our eating habits. The first time we booked ADR's accordingly and then ended up cancelling a bunch of them after the first few days because we were miserable. The second time, we didn't book many, figured we'd do a bunch of CS when we got hungry but we never got hungry enough to eat that much food. I'm not a big dessert eater so that doesn't appeal to me on the plan (would have preferred they cut the dessert and left the appetizer). Anyway, both times we tried it, we left there with a ton of unused credits. I never figured out the cost, was afraid I'd be upset. But if you leave any credits, you are probably losing money.

Dawn I love your Santa story. I admire eccentric people. I'm always been so rigid and uptight and love stories about people who are out enjoying life (doesn't matter if it's because they have a great sense of humor or are a nut-job).

I think I hear my treadmill calling my name.....

I am a total complete and utter HGTV addict. Love love love. Except Design on a Dime, I don't like that one, but I adore House Hunters and Designed to Sell. I am hooked on Got Color too, LOVE hot (somewhat flaming?) guy that hosts it. DH HATES it, and picks on me for it a lot.

I am uberplanner, and say... Stick to what you have, or at least take the package and don't add dining. You may be able to get a room only code, as was suggested. If you are not a big eater and don't do TS, DDP is a waste of money.

Also consider that if you can't make it for some reason, room only is completely refundable w/ 5 day notice.

Aaron, for now please take me off the challenge. I am going to restart on Monday after my WDW trip but I need to figure out a realistic #. I think I am going to buy myalli.

And... tomorrow at 7:30 my flight leaves to WDW!!! YAY!!!! BWV better watch out for me and my friend!

Thanks everybody for your feedback. I think I am going to leave things well enough alone. Like Kat said, I think I like the flexibility of being able to cancel w/in 5 days of arriving. Not saying that I think we would do that, but it is nice to have that. I just needed some reassurance that I was doing the right thing. I just needed my peeps to hold my hand and tell me that I was ok. ;) Maybe a room only code will come out soon. If not, I am still going to Disney in Jan.!!!:cool1: :cool1:

Kat, have a great time!!!!

So I want to join and be a DISappearing Peep :goodvibes I leave for Disney in 195 days!!! lol

I told myself I was going to start the 1st of the month and could use some support along the way. I would love to lose 15 pounds before I go to Disney in May (for my bachelorette party with my aunts & girl cousins ) and a total of 20 pounds for my trip to Las Vegas in June (another bachelorette party with my girl friends..Crazy right??!!! 2 bachelorette parties but im not complaining ;) ) & September 08 wedding. We will see how it goes.

When I left for Aruba which was about 2 weeks ago i weighed 135.. I have eaten everything that hasnt been nailed down the past 2 weeks and i wouldnt be surprised if i gained 5 pounds the past 2 weeks!!! :scared1: I read the couple of last posts I live in Tribeca in NYC and in an apt building we had only 1 trick or treator sooooo i ATE all the candy last night!!! GREAAATTT ...but im back to being on track.

When I was in H.S. (Im 32 now) I weighed 168 pounds i lost that weight and fortunately have not gained it back since. I really like working out at the gym and love turbo jam and the firm workouts but would really like to kick it into over drive and get in get shape for my trip to disney in May.

So Hello to everybody! and wish me luck!!!

I think I forgot to say :welcome:

Got to hate that left over candy! :scared1: You are doing all the right things though. Just keep working out. Weigh yourself tomorrow, and that will be your starting point. Then weigh yourself next Friday, and if you had a loss, post it in bold pretty colors so that UtahMama can easily see it and keep track. She will post the total loss for all of us!

Oh, DH and I visited NY this summer, and fell in LOVE with your city! We can't wait to go back and take the kids. We had a grownups only trip while the kids were at church camp. It was soooo much fun, and we have so much that we didn't get to do.

Post often so we can get to know you.

We weigh in on Fridays, and post it in a BOLD pretty color, so that UtahThreadMama can keep track of it. Then she post how much we all lost in one week! Just jump in and start posting. I know we all introduced ourselves way back, but I can't even remember where that is anymore. :confused3 :rotfl: :rotfl2: You will find this to be a very supportive group. :cheer2:

Thanks for the welcome and the explanation! Guess I'll jump in and post my loss tomorrow!

Welcome. We weigh in on Friday morning, and post the loss in big bright numbers. You don't have to say what you weigh. Come on often and share about life. That's about it.
Oh, thank God! LOL! Thanks for the welcome!

GOOD MORNING! I bought Blow Pops yesterday to give to the trick or treaters mainly because I DON'T LIKE THEM! Do not buy candy that you like....or you will be tempted to eat it! You have been warned!

MRNsMom
....:welcome: Pull up a chair, make yourself at home. Post often!
I do the same thing...buying candy I don't like! And thanks for the welcome...I will definitely try to post often...that is, if I can keep up! :)

okay, i'm starting with my post from yesterday so i'm very sorry if i missed something!

WELCOME!!!!!!! you'll love it here! :goodvibes
Thanks! Oh, and I read about your brother a few pages back...how scary! Glad to hear he is ok!

:welcome: There is ALWAYS room for one more!!!!
Thanks! Y'all definitely seem to be a welcoming group!

Congratulations on the baby. A few of us, me included had a baby and some are about to. I think after I lost 40 pounds was the reason I got pregnant:rotfl: . My daughter is now 11 weeks.
Congrats on your new DD, too! Mine turned 9 weeks old yesterday! I said the same thing to my DH about how I got pg b/c I'd lost the weight! I knew it was too good to be true...not that I'm not completely have my DD2! I'd do it all over again!

:welcome: Post often so that we get to know you. Good luck on your weight loss efforts.

Thanks! I'll do my best!

I just joined this lovely group myself, but welcome! Congrats on your upcoming wedding and Good luck w/ the weight loss!

Our Halloween was pretty good! I'm not a big sweets fan (my weakness is salty food), so the candy temptation wasn't a big deal for me. And I just didn't buy the kind of candy I DO like, so I was good-to-go! Except for the fact that we went to our church's carnival and they had tons of food! It just about killed me! Something about those nachos and cheese dip (you know the kind they give you at ball games)! We also took my DD1 (three-year-old) trick-or-treating and she really got into it for the first time...she's was too young still last year and would get freaked out. She got lots of candy, but I had to hide the bucket from her...and my husband...b/c they'd both eat it all in one sitting!

And... tomorrow at 7:30 my flight leaves to WDW!!! YAY!!!! BWV better watch out for me and my friend!

Well, wooo hoooo for you. Have a great trip! Hope you and your friend have fun, fun, fun!

I'm going to go ahead and post my weigh-in now since I dragged myself to the gym this evening and they have the accurate scale. I am up 1.5 lbs. Aaron, you can throw that into the T'giving matrix, taking away my 1 lb. loss and adding in a half lb. gain.
I'm going to be honest. When I got home from the retreat Sunday my home scale said I had gained 7 lbs.:scared1: So I tried to really fit in the exercise everyday this week and drink my water. I'm not thrilled at my gain, but if it weren't for the peeps, who knows where this would have gone?

Pretty numbers, y'all!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

Just popping in to say hello!

I'm on the reception desk at work today as the receptionist is in Pigeon Forge for the weekend!

Here's me today at work... :surfweb:

I'll try to catch up and post later.

oh boy!!! I got on the scale this morning.... wasnt as bad as i thought but still no excuse for letting myself go for almost 2 weeks.

i will post how much i lose next friday but just posting today that i did indeed get on the scale and it wasnt pretty..:scared1:

I have a busy weekend this weekend so im hoping im not tempted by anything...tonight we are going to a tapas restaurant in tribeca hopefully i wont be drinking to much sangria ;)
