Thanks again everyone that gave me words of wisdom about my DIRTY job situation. I actually did call the board of health and i will not be returning to that job anymore. Part of me does feel a bit bad if this turns out to be the end of the company, but my " Erin Brockovich" side is quite pleased with myself for having the gutts to do something about a very hazardous situation..i will be sure to keep you posted if something comes of it...sigh..never a dull moment!!!
Good for you! Nobody should not have to work in a place like that.

We just had an earthquake about 2 hours ago, but everyone in our family is fine. My niece's front window blew out and her cat ran away. Pixie dust, please, that Roxie :cat: returns.
Now word yet from my sister on the biopsy. We talked after the quake tonight, but we didn't talk about that.

Glad everyone is ok, and :wizard: for kitty to come home!

Happy Halloween everyone!

You did the right thing by calling them. I would not have been able to work there because of my migraines are induced by smells. so what are you going to do between now and December about a job?

Thanks for the support everyone. I think i finally do 100% think i did the right thing. Good question about what i am going to do between now and when the new job starts ( it will be either dec. 1 or Jan 1...i am HOPING dec!!!)..I will probably work P/T somewhere, go on Cobra for Blue Cross health insurance and be ever so thankful i have a supportive boyfriend and parents that will help me financially a bit in the meantime. i HATE not having my own money, but this was certainly an exception to the rule of not leaving a job until a new one starts the next week...I have faith that it will all work out..plus our Disney trip is paid for already for December, so what else is there to worry about ;) lol. just kidding. mortgage matters too...its just not as fun! ;)
Have a great HALLOWEEN everyone..i am off to curves, thats one benefit..i can work out in the morning for a while now!

honestly i probably would've said, "no, i'm not on a health kick. i'm just changing the way i eat. actually, i changed this a long time ago....so nice of you to notice!" okay...maybe i wouldn't have said that last part. ;) the point is that i hate it when people use words like "diet" or "health kick" because that implies that it's not a permanent thing but just a phase or something that's very temporary and meaningless. i think you've made a change in your lifestyle and that's why you're seeing the results you are!

Along similar lines, I would have said something like, "Well I lost this first 60 pounds by skipping desserts, so I'm just going to keep on this way!" They would then all go home and tell their wives, "wow! Aaron lost 60 lbs! He looks great." I know that my DH always tells me about when the guys lose weight. He is actually motivated by them....until he sees a cookie!:rotfl:

You did the exact right thing! I feel like work is one of those places that you should never, ever feel uncomfortable going to. As others have said, if it means the end of the company then that is their fault for allowing it to happen, not yours for reporting it.

Thanks for the responses to my work-cookie situation! It's not like me to talk about myself, but it just bothered me a little bit and I knew everyone here would understand. The comments that stick out in my mind are what was also going through my head as I was taking my dog for a walk last night; that the "health kick" comment made it sound like I was just trying to lose 5 pounds before Christmas, but in 3 months I'll be back to my "see-food diet" - I see food and I eat it. It's not a health kick, it's a lifestyle change. Huge difference there. The other thought I had goes back to the change in attitude that I had a while back when I first committed myself to losing weight. I used to think that my weight defined me; that if I lost enough weight I wouldn't be the big jolly guy that people were used to seeing, and maybe they wouldn't like me as much. (Funny what a bad self-image can do to a guy, huh?) I wasn't able to turn a corner weight-wise until I realized that my weight did not define who I was. So in the same way, I don't want my weight loss to define me, either. Just as I didn't want people to say "Aaron, oh he's the heavier set guy in the corner office", I also don't want them to say "he's the one who lost all of that weight". While I am proud of what I've been able to accomplish so far, I also don't want people to identify me by that. The mind can work in peculiar ways sometimes, can't it?

OMG!!!!! You're killing me Dance!!!!! That looks sooooo good!

Good morning all. I got to work and my staff has this huge and very cute Halloween cake sitting out in the area I call the food court so I'm so glad I have this place to come to and not have to think about it.

Danielle: Glad everyone is okay and that the cat returns. We didn't feel anything here in the central valley but I had seen on the news that the quake had hit.

Gina: Can you file for unemployment? You quit under duress--doesn't that qualify you to at least draw unemployment. I would certainly check into it. In CA, you would definitely be able to get it.

Aaron: What you wrote about defining yourself is really good and I hope everyone reads it. I'm going to be mulling this over today and trying to figure out how much of it applies to me and what I'm going to do about it. Thanks for sharing it.

I'm going to have a bad meal tonight. I am going to my parents' house for dinner because they live in the country and have no trick or treaters. I have two yippy little dogs and I can't bear the thought of listening to their shrill barks all night as the doorbell rings with trick or treaters. So DH is staying home to hand out candy and I'm deserting the ship. My mother, a nice little Italian lady who is 5' tall and 5' wide, will definitely make something totally fattening. I just hope I can limit myself to a small portion. I don't like to cheat mid-week with Friday's weighin looming so close.

Happy Halloween to everyone.

PAKEY = Good Luck! Maybe you could suggest a salad (or bring one?) to fill out the meal? I LOVE Italian food. I haven't had this dish in many years, but it stands out in my memory, I cannot spell the name, so I'll describe it ..........spaghetti with eggs and bacon with cream. I know that it doesn't sound good, (whenever I mention it my husband and kids, who have never tried it, they make gagging :scared: sounds) but it is truly good food. Spaghetti ala Carabonari? No...I think that carabonari is police or something. Sounds like that though. We live in a rural area and no one comes to our door for candy. I'm taking my 7yr old to Spooktacular at our zoo, which we have never tried before. My teen will go to church, they have youth meetings every Weds. This is her first year not trick or treating, usually she walks her brother up to the doors, while we (parents ) wait at the end of the driveways. :sad1: They grow up. This is the first year that I have had NO halloween candy. Usually I have to make a couple of candy runs, because it all gets eaten quickly. This year? I have a Thanksgiving day goal to make!!!!!! :cool1: (or try to anyway)Everyone remember the goal! A moment on the lips, a lifetime somewhere else! This coming from someone who used to consider candy one of the major food groups. Happy Halloween!Everyone keep safe!

Sorry so late. We have rented cabins from the following:

www.firesidechalet.com We rented a 4 bedroom with them in December 2005. It was really nice with a hot tub, pool table. This company rents cabins all over Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg. We were more toward the city of Pigeon Forge. We had a beautiful view of the mountains. This company is really friendly and their prices are reasonable. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

www.countrypines.com We rented a 4 bedroom cabin with this company in August. Their log homes are all in one community but the homes are absolutely gorgeous. They are located on Dollywood Lane (Middle Creek Rd.), approx. 5-6 miles. Prices were a little higher but reasonable considering it was such a large home. Staff was really great. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

www.mountaintopresorts.com We rented from this company in Oct. of 2005. They have several areas to choose from, including the Douglas Lake area where we stayed. The lake is drained every Sept. but it full by Memorial Day. We rented a 3 bedroom cabin. It was very nice but a little expensive. Additionaly, the Douglas Lake area is some distance from Pigeon Forge, going back toward Sevierville. I give it only one :thumbsup2 .

Ober mountain is really great. We went there in December 05. The kids really loved the tram ride up the mountain. My oldest son & I went ice skating (1st time for both of us) while we were there. We also done the Alpine Slide. Pretty cool. :thumbsup2 The aquarium was nice but crowded during the July 4th holiday. :scared1: It was rainy outside & everyone was doing indoor activities. I was sooooooo happy to make it to the exit. Your children will love it but if you go try doing so when it is bright, sunny and altogether beautiful outside. :rotfl2:

In July of this year, we took the kids to the Comedy Barn, the Magic Show, and the Dixie Stampede. They had such a great time. They got to be part of the act at the Comedy Barn. My youngest son didn't get much from the Magic Show but he watched and was really good the whole time. I definelty recommend the Magic Show. It's great and so unbelievable. I would like to watch it again and try to fiqure some of it out. ;) Both of my boys loved the Dixie Stampede. They could hardly sit in their seats and eat because they were so excited. I recommend but it is extremely expensive. $225 for the 4 of us. $160 for the show itself. $50 for Build-a-critters. and $15 for popcorn & soda during the carriage room act. We will do again in the future. We also went to the NASCAR Speed Park and had a great time.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions, just ask.

P.S. Are you planning time in the mountains for sight seeing. If so, then I would recommend packing a picnic & driving out to Cades Cove. There is so much to see and explore. There are lots of trails to hike, old churches and log homes to see, and in the 4 times that we've ventured out to the Cove, we've seen a bear 3 out of the 4 times. One evening as we were making a second drive around the loop we counted over 70 deer before it got so dark that we couldn't see anymore. Talk to you later.
Thanks for the information. I did not realize that Dixie Stampede would cost so much. The one thing DH has requested is a mountain view.

The kids want to go horse back riding while we are there. I am looking in to that. Thanks again.

Good for you! Nobody should not have to work in a place like that.

Another great cake :cool1:

Had a very long night with Rebekah and Joshua. She was up from 2-5 and he was up from 4-5:30. I slept most of the morning. He is getting use to his breathing treatments but still doesn't like to much. I think she is going througha spurt since she wants to eat all the time--then spits up most of it since she is already full :confused3 Hopefully we will get it figured out. Have a good day everyone.

:hmghost: :stir: :hmghost: HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!:hmghost: :stir: :hmghost: i hope everyone has very spooky but safe halloween!!!

I never even thought about that! I am not sure the rules here in MA..but thanks to you i am going to fully investigate this tommorow at my local center. Thanks for that tip!

Tip for the Day ! (for those who have children who will be Trick or Treating )
When checking candy and putting in piles IE the hard stuff you do not want your kids to eat, but they get every year because it is the cheapest to buy) :rotfl: Do not make a pile of snack size candy bars for yourself and when they are not looking hide them :confused3 stay away from those snack size candy bars or if they are lucky (FULL SIZE CANDY BARS ) also
They are the DEVIL!!!!!!! okay now back to my regular program of iron and folding Laundry...;) and also
Happy Halloween!!!!!

Hey guys!! I have read about some great AP discounts. Please send some DISNEY pixie dust my way. I am hoping that they will release that same code for the General Public (that would be me) tomorrow. Hopefully my TA will be able to snag me a code and save me some money on my Jan. trip with DD.

I am over here crossing fingers, toes, legs, eyes, etc. :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao:

Oh, and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

I've been accused of being a dentist!! :rotfl2:

Giving out glow sticks... ok, candy too dad!! :rotfl2:

I dont think we're up to 50 treaters yet... go figure - we live in a huge development, but you have to walk up a set of stairs to get to my door!! I left a trail of glow sticks!! :rotfl2: One kid I overheard "I told you this is where they're getting 'em" :rotfl2:

Party was weird... quiet... subdued??? I made the bloody punch - red hawaiian punch, 7up, and marchinos cherries....!!

Oh, and fdil and I had lunch - they signed the papers - she is so smart... she read the closing papers... "um, where is my earnest deposit?" oh, hmmm, (cha ching, they deducted $1,000 from the closing cost they told her she had o have!!).... um... this line here? I thought condos were exempt?? "hmmm, she's right!!" cha ching $500 to fdil!!! She is smart, she also found a $25 error in her favor!!

Just trying to catch-up.....

 's to all those who need them. Seems there are a number of you with "situations" that warrant a <<BIG HUG>>. Hope things are better for all of you!

Today was my day off and I had a nurse come by to draw blood and do a questionnaire for my new life insurance policy. Now, I know I am healthy, I only take meds for my thyroid, but her scale was not very nice.:scared1: I am definitely classified as obese and it really upset me. Here I am 45 yo and will probably have to pay a higher premium all because of my weight. I really need to be more dedicated to this life-style change and stay focused on it. Boy am I just bummed tonight.:sad2: (Sorry to vent, but thanks for listening!:flower3: )

This candy is calling my name. I think I'll head upstairs and away from it.

so how was everyone's halloween? mine was kinda slow. i kid you not......we had probably a total of 30 trick-or-treaters (in about 5 groups) compared to our usual 100-plus. i think what happened is there's a street light out across the street from me and i kind of live near the end of the main road in our neighborhood. so when people looked down there and saw darkness, they assumed no one was participating...even though my porch light was on and jack-o-lanterns were lit! oh, well! i've only eaten one pack of skittles so that's not too bad. i'm sending the rest of the leftover candy with ray to work tomorrow.

Went treating with Katie and Joshua. Joshua and I made it to about 10 houses and he was done. Drenched because of the heat and already coughing his head off. We headed back to my friends house and he enjoyed passing out goodies to the trick or treaters.

THat is awesome about your FDIL.
