 this is why i don't swim in the ocean! not gonna happen. i know you've probably already told us, but what beach were you at?

We were in Destin. Right in the heart of town. My daughter thought it was really cool! The lifeguard drove up on her little dunebuggy, and got everyone out of the water. We were already out, and playing in the sand when she came up. Actually she made two people stay out in the water because if they had come up to shore, they might would have run into it. It was amazing that it was right at the shoreline. DD and I had been way out earlier in the morning. It eventually just swam back out to sea. I would post my picture, but it is hard to see. The one I took of my finger would have been great had my finger NOT been in the way! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I am ... -4.4!! Only 4.8 more lbs and I am back to my pre-WDW weight. That is my Turkey Day goal.

you guys are so cute!

all right, peeps.......i'm -1 pound today. do you know what that means? that means i'm 1 POUND AWAY FROM MY GOAL!!!!!!! this deserves a banana man.....

hope everyone has a good friday. i'm off to get a haircut, go by the bank and then come home and clean my house from top to bottom!

Thanks... and CONGRATS!!!

Thank you. I'm working on accepting compliments gracefully instead of making excuses for myself about how "I must have just been having a good day" or simply, "No, I'm not pretty. You're just saying that to be nice." This was a good little exercise. :goodvibes

Finally, thanks to everyone for all of the warm welcomes! It's so comfy here.

Ok, so for my first weekly weigh-in, my loss for this week (and my starting point) is: -5.4lbs!!! Now, I know this is mostly water weight and my body being shocked back into submission with healthy food, but I'm still proud.

TGIF :hyper:

Congrats!! And it definitely is comfy here.

That picture is beautiful!! :hippie:

Thanks!

My top three downfalls are:
3) Alcohol, mostly beer.
2) Cheese, cheese, cheese
1) Salty snacks, especially cheese puffcorn, chips and salsa-con-queso, chips and onion dip.

I can get around the 1st downfall by LOTS of fat free popcorn, fat free pringles w/ onion dip made w/ ff sour cream... but the 2nd and 3rd are really hard to get around.

I am so glad this week is almost over. What a huge pain in my behind it has been!!

cool to see but kinda scary! we're going to destin a week from today for a wedding. i don't plan to do any swimming in the ocean though so that's not a big deal. it seems that usually when you see a shark close to the shore that it's not an isolated incident. so i'm going to tell my best friend who's getting married there not to let her 3-year-old in past his ankles!

weight for this week 3pds gone i am in the middle of qualifying rounds for floor mopping i will be back later ..

Oh, and I love your eye makeup! I'm somewhat addicted to makeup and can get lost in Sephora for hours on end, much to the BF's (boyfriend, not best friend, in my case) chagrin.

Thank you!! Because I'm a makeup artist, people think I walk around looking like that all day, but the truth is... most days I could care less if I'm wearing makeup or not... and I usually only wear the bare minimum that I need for work. Except for when I used to work for MAC. If any of you have ever been to a MAC store/counter, you know that the girls (and some guys) there have way over the top makeup. Believe it or not, it's a requirment that you have to wear at least 16 PIECES OF COLOR ON YOUR FACE NOT INCLUDING FOUNDATION!!! :scared1:

:thumbsup2 On the marathon '09 goal!! I somehow got tricked into doing it this coming Jan '08 :faint: I also suffer with the plantar fascia - I've done very well with wearing crocs (havent had to use the cane since I started wearing crocs!!) I also went to a running shoe store to get fitted for my foot (I pronate, ankles roll in, almost touching the ground!! I'm also tall, and it used to be that people didnt realize I was over 200#, but now my fat is so hanging around the midsection... its now a *duh factor! And its so hard running with the extra weight - sometimes the pain in the foot is hard, but I'm determined - I found the orthotics too expensive and the running store and my podiatrist recommended 2 kinds of shoe inserts - Power Step is what I'm using (I wasted money on the "WalkFit" I so believed that commercial - and dh his inserts are "hard plastic" the WalkFit is just too high an arch!

Anyway - I'm doing ok - start with that couch to 5K running program - and one of the sticky's on the competion forum has a link to gpodometer - that you can find the milage for the route you run!! AND I run in the park near my home - it was a perfect tool!! :thumbsup2

BTW I talk too much~~ :sad2:

Funny you should mention Crocs... I have been thinking of getting some, but I wasn't sure if it was worth a try. Which ones do you have?? The clogs or one of the other styles?? I've been looking at the "mary jane" style. I'd prefer not to wear the clog style because I'm a makeup artist/manager at a hair salon and I need to be a bit more stylish for work.

You have inspired me and helped me to know that it IS possible to overcome this wretched condition and achieve my goal of doing the marathon! :goodvibes

Welcome Nikki and Tia!!

I had a bunch of quotes earlier but work got in the way and I never finished my post. Work is kicking my butt lately!

Tia, I am also 5'8. I started at 218, and am about 182 right now. I had been down to 174 but WDW intervened and I am mostly back on track.

I do calorie counting, and try to stay around 1200 most days. I do have cheat days, and try to keep them every 2 weeks, but don't always succeed, which is why I try to stay at 1200.

I did manage to avoid the fair food, and made it to the gym for 40 min/3 miles on the elliptical.

I found an engagement pic from 2.5 years ago that I don't hate... I am about the same weight then as now, so here it is

Thanks for the points of reference!! :flower3: Although, for some reason, I can't see your pic...

Welcome, and WOW! Both of you ladies are BEAUTIFUL, like movie-star beautiful! We're happy to have you here, getting healthy with us.

This. Made. My. Day. :sad1:  :flower3: I have very low self-esteem, and have never really seen myself as pretty and certainly not beautiful, so to have someone who doesn't even know me say something like that kind of blew me away... I believe Tink-ing had a similar response, and said that she is working on graciously accepting compliments. I will start doing the same... :)

Tia, my mickey mouse crocs just arrived today and I put them on my feet about an hour ago. I got the red ones because we wear red shirts at work (company provides clothing because we process a lot of garlic and jalapenos and we all go home smelling of it). They are so comfortable, I can't believe it. Now I'm thinking of the mary jane ones because these mickey ones feel so good. I have super wide feet so it's nice to have something on the tootsies that isn't torture. I'll be getting more pairs now. Faith

All right, at the end of the day we've got the following Thanksgiving goals:

Wendy (UtahMama) - Lose 5 lbs, and only eat one piece of Halloween candy each day, if any.
Lisa (zigzagzerr) - Lose 5 lbs
Pakey - Lose 5 lbs
Kat (HockeyKat) - Lose 4.8 lbs to reach pre-WDW weight

And as an aside, isn't it funny that the guy from Wisconsin doesn't share your love of cheese?

And the gal from California too!!!! We have a lot of California cheese commercials on TV here with cows with Wisconsin accents trying to leave the snow blizzards and walk to sunny California. :rotfl:

In case I forget...Thus far, we have lost....30.4!!!!!!

hang in there samers, gainers and pre/post Aunt Flo-ers!

My top three are 1) Sweet Tea 2) chips and dip (we do not buy often) 3) ice cream. My DH eats a bowl of ice cream every night before bed and it does nothing to him. That makes me sick!!

I'll jump on the Thanksgiving goal wagon! 8 lbs.

I am challenging all of you to set a goal that you would like to reach by Thanksgiving. It can be a certain weight you want to reach, or maybe increasing the distance you walk by 1-mile, or even something as simple as cutting back on soda to once a week by Turkey-day. Anything that will help you achieve your goal of a healthier, happier you! Of course, you don't have to post it here if you don't feel comfortable doing so. But I will be reminding all of you on occasion to keep up with that Thanksgiving goal. Together, we can accomplish anything! (How's that for inspirational?)

oooo... Me! Me! I wanna play! Um... Lets see... I would like to lose 5 pounds by Thanksgiving.... :thumbsup2

SINGINGMUA : when I saw your first post, I thought the picture was one of those "model" pictures or maybe somebody famous that you liked or something, when you said that was you ......WOW!

Sooo... my three things (well, there are really more than three, but for the sake of continuity, I will try to just name three...)

3. Fried Chicken!!! (well really, chicken in ANY form, but I think fried edges out the others)
3b. Any combo of meat and cheese.... (what IS it about meat and melted cheese that is just soooo yummy!)
2. Potatoes of any kind (fried, baked, boiled, sauteed, scalloped... you get the picture)

1. Whoever said Ducan Hines yellow cake with Milk Chocolate Frosting.... will you marry me??? The only additional thing that this needs to make it perfect is a glass of ICE, COLD MILK!!! :cloud9:

 i can't even *think* of 16 colors!!!!

i have the MJs and they are soooooo comfy!!! but if you're looking for a little style AND comfort, check these out....

http://shop.crocs.com/pc-421-4-alic...=41p&subsectionname=footwear&section=products

i bought a pair of black ones for my recent WDW trip and I LOVE THEM!!!!!! they're so cute and comfy. i actually wore them today! just a warning....if you have wide feet they may not be the shoe for you. they're narrower than the other croc styles. not overly narrow by any means...i definitely don't have narrow feet and they fit me fine. they're just a little more slender than my other crocs. the MJs seem to not be so narrow though.

Goal is 8 lbs by turkey day...

ONLY THREE??? what is this torture night?

3. salty snacks
2. pizza
1. cookies, apple pie

I have the maryjanes and the Beach crocs, and some brigth red disney crocs, i love em, i wear my maryjanes the most, but find that i tend to trip on the toe, I like to call it "tripping on ant poo" as opposed to me being a clutz:goodvibes
