I'm not the only speed racer on this thread...

I was laughing my butt off tonight at Tyler (Dismom's DS11 for those of you who don't know). I had to pick him up from Baseball practice and he was cracking me up the whole was home.

First he told me my car smelled good...not like his moms :rotfl:

Then he asked me how fast my car would go and when I told him real fast, he told me I had better not let his mama drive it... :rotfl2:

Finally we were talking about music and how songs can remind you of special memories or certain people and I told him how I always think of his mom when I hear Drivin & Cryin...he thought for a second and said "that's cause that is what we are doing when we are in a car with her!" :lmao: :lmao:

I love ya Amy, but that kid is a hoot!!!

well, for some reason it is freezing sitting here at the puter and my DBF is all warm and snuggly in the bed, so I think I am going to go join him! :cloud9:

Night Peeps!
Dragonfly out!

Just wanted to thank everyone for all the great smart snacking tips today.

I did not have a very good weight loss my first week of WW@Work (will post it on Friday) compared to how I have done in the past, so I was feeling a little discouraged today. I talked with the leader after class about my concern that the points were a bit too high for me for good weight loss, so I am going to try to stick to only eating my daily points and staying away from the flex points. Of course, it may also be related to the fact that I am 4 years older this time around

I AM going to shop for and eat some better food choices this week and see how I do next week. I'm not a fan of artificial sweeteners, so that results in my eating foods that contain sugar more than I probably should. Something else to work on.

I was able to totally avoid drinking regular pop all last week though, so that was a small victory!

P.S. Grumpy, I LOVED your "UtahMama Prayer"!!! Uma ought to modify the initial post to include that as part of the DISappearing Peeps' creed!

Dragonfly! OMG thats so funny!!:lmao: :cool1: :rotfl2:

My DNephew sounds so much like his Uncle Bart!

I love ya Dis but thas funny!:lmao:

I'm outta here!Night peeps!

S: Crystal Light On The Go (10)
L: SBD southwestern chicken wraps w/sugar free Jello (220)
S: mini bag of popcorn (100)
D: Kashi Chicken Pomadora (300), black bean tortilla chips w/ peach mango salsa (165), honey roasted almonds (160), & Clementine (35)
S: ff cool whip - frozen (60 - mmmm, tastes like ice cream…sorta)

TOTAL: 1270 calories & at least 110 oz. of water

Not much time tonight. Puppy is being a brat! She gets an attitude when she doesn't want to do something, and we make her do it anyway. We are practicing her down stay, and she got fiesty and snapped at me. Ugh! She is such a beagle! This is the only thing holding us back from passing her Canine Good Citizen test early. For the down stay, the insructor stands on her leash next to her while I walk away, and she LOVES the instructor, so she goes over to her every time! :sad2:

This reminds me of the scene in 2 weeks notice where Sandra Bullock eats too many hotdogs and in the middle of a trafic jam runs to the rv in front of her car and asks to use the bathroom! :lmao: I had my gall bladder removed 8 years ago and I still have those unexpected "moments"!
I hope I can laugh about it someday. I actually feel worse since it came out than I did when the gd thing was there.

I never thought to make my own pita chips.Great idea.
What is a Pink lady apple? Never heard of that.
Boiled eggs is another good idea I had not thought of

Pink Lady is a variety of apple (like Red or Golden Delicious, Fuji, Gala, Granny Smith, etc.) that I found at Central Market a couple of years ago and can now find "sometimes" at the local grocery stores. To me it isn't as mealy as Red Delicious and has a slight hint of tart... not like Granny Smith. The Pink Lady Apple website said they are from the UK and it describes them as having a "striking pink blush and the sweet and fizzy, champagne-like taste". I thought Central Market said "raspberry" instead of champagne. :cutie:

I have to tell ya'll...on my way to the gym tonight it occured to me that I forgot my socks. Now I wear business attire to work and I had on tan dress sock...not the most attractive look with biker shorts, if you know what I mean. :sad2:

Well, I had two options - go home and skip the gym or go work out and look like an idiot...I chose option two. :confused3

So I was in the bathroom getting ready and what to my amazement do I find in the bottom of my gym bag, but a pair of white atletetic socks!!!

AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! (that would be angels singing if you were curious)
The exercise and gym fairies took mercy on me because I made a GOOD choice and they saved me from humilitation.:cheer2:

I'm sure there is a moral to this story somewhere, but I am just happy I didn't have to work out looking like my Grandpa at the beach! :lmao:

:yay: It was a test... and you passed with flying colors! :thumbsup2

Shannon we'll be there in about 7 hours ...Shawna you drive, you get better gas mileage!! Shannon- we'll be there in 5-6 hrs if she drives:goodvibes

never mind taht class I have to go to on booking infrastructure...this is the Keys!! Dude can we learn to scuba dive?!!!

I LOVE scuba diving! In college we went diving in Jamaica for a field trip (Marine Ecology) and I've been to Catalina Island near LA. Unfortunately, the only scuba I've done in 20 years was in a swimming pool where some teachers were pretending to "train in neutral buoyancy" like the astronauts.

Speaking of teachers :teacher:... anybody else notice how edumacational this thread has become. Today alone, we had chemistry, geography, and nutrition. :hippie:

So many things to comment on and so little time! :hourglass

:welcome: to all those "Newbies" who have posted after 4 this afternoon! This is a great place to be! ;)

I bought flaxseed meal last night and added it to my oatmeal this morning. Very Good! :hippie: I will add it to other foods as I go along. :ssst: Don't tell DH! :ssst:

UM...Could you repost the pooh: muffins? I printed it out, but can't find the paper! I really want to make them! Thanks!

It snowed here today, so I got to shovel after work. Good way to burn calories! I think we are suppose to get more tomorrow. Hopefully it will be later in the day, as I have to run my Dad around to the lawyer and various other places he wants to go, and I don't like driving in the snow.

OK...I'm beat, so I'm going to bed!

Nighty-Night All!:wave2:

Good morning! I am off to work where I struggle all day to not pick when I get nervous or bored. It is so hard. But today I am armed with trail mix and strawberries. Think skinny!;)
I have trail mix and strawberries and I am not afraid to use them !!!::cop:

Wendy...I LOVE that story ! I am soooo an 8 cow wife.....
Last year one of my husband golf buddys called me out of the blue. He called just because he wanted to let me know that when they play golf, my DH is always talking about what a great wife and mother I am ! I was floored ! It made me feel valued and appreiciated.
How many cows does it take to be a good wife? I don't understand the cow thing?:confused3
RED ALERT!!!

Here's what my desk looked like this morning when I came to work...

Wow my name is growing expotentially:teacher:
Holly Crap! It just took me an hour to catch up!! Now I have to go to mcdonalds because I promised my kids if they cleaned up the house I would take them. School was canceled today...............so pray for me! I didn't eat breakfast and I haven't had fast food since I fell off the wagon at kfc 2 weeks ago. Hopfully I will be able to resist temptation. Grumpy, do you have a prayer for me?
Please Bow your heads:angel:
Our Ronald , who art in commercials, hallowed be thy name.

Thy soybean oil heated, thy grills sizzling,

In Washington as it is in Nebraska.

Give us this day, a yogurt parfait, and of course, a hamburger if noone I know is watching.

And forgive us our carbs,

As we forgive those carbs which have attacked us.

Lead us not into the golden arches,

And deliver us from those wonderful evil french fries.

In the name of McDonalds, Cadbury , and The holy Haagen Daas, amen

Thought I'd let you know a bit about me, I've added a photo (don't know how to make it smaller!) of my family at my step-sisters wedding my DD's were Bridesmaids. (it must have been windy as my hairs a right mess!)

Well My name obviously is Jo and I'm 33 years old but only for a few more weeks! I live in the South East of England only about 1 hour from London, I'm originally from Suffolk a place called Lowestoft which is the most Easterly point of the whole of England, there is a sign and everything. I have been married to my DH David for 11 1/2 years and we've been together since we were 16, awwwh, we met in a very romantic place - on the golf course! He is a golf pro so it is the only place to meet him. We moved down south for money and DH works very hard and unsociable hours teaching people golf to allow me to stay at home to look after DD Jessica 10 and DD Ellie 8. I am now totally addicted to the DIS but before that took over I enjoyed walking, gardening, reading, holidays (WDW of course, although Lapland was great too) and getting back into golf after a back injury. Like everyone else I am a great taxi service, cleaner, cook etc and wish I had the social life my 86yr old Nan does. :rotfl2:

Weight wise, I go more on dress size which over here is a 14/16 but I love the US sizing as I become a 10/12 I have just bought 2 great US golf skorts in a size 10 and I will make sure the label sticks out. My meals are normally OK it's the inbetween that lets me down! Especially Cadburys dairy milk and Haggen Daz strawberry shortcake - yum. My goal is to be a nice loose 14 (10) any less and my hip bones just won't fit in!

See you all later and don't write too much whilst (Melinda I'm saying whilst!!!!) I'm asleep. :rotfl2:
Your photo is lovely and your hair is fine. You have a beautiful family
per wikipedia.....

The Prime Meridian, also known as the International Meridian or Greenwich Meridian, is the meridian (line of longitude) passing through the Royal Greenwich Observatory, Greenwich, England, United Kingdom — it is the meridian at which longitude is defined to be 0 degrees. The prime meridian, and the opposite 180th meridian (at 180° longitude), which the International Date Line generally follows, separate the Eastern and Western Hemispheres.
I am soooo confused. Please help me
I really need some support because the weight just isn't coming off on my own!

What's worked for me in the past is South Beach Diet...3 years ago, I lost about 16 lbs., which brought me to a size 14. Not great, but when you've been straining at your 16s, it felt wonderful! Little by little, but esp. in the past year (which has had multiple stresses inc. 2 family deaths), it's come back on and maybe even a couple pounds more. My 16s are feeling snug again.

The thing I still have a problem with mentally is that I was always a thin, thin child and teenager. Until my late 20s, I was still a size 8-10, which actually was better for me than when I'd--unbelievably!--looked too thin as a 4-6. When I hit 30, a few extra pounds came on each year and I didn't really mind because I thought I'd lose them easily. Seeing myself as a "skinny" person, I just didn't take it seriously. Then, along came DS and a move from the Northeast (Philadelphia) to the South (Kentucky) where DH has loads of extended family---meaning family gatherings around lotsa food---often! I was shocked when I passed 160 lbs. and now would love to be there (about 16 pounds away). Once I reach THAT goal, I'd like to try to be a size 10-12 again. I'd be totally comfortable with that.

Two days ago, I thought I'd try SB again. Yet, I had a couple of minor cheats (2 tortilla chips and, my weakness, about 15 dark chocolate chocolate chips.) Today, I found my self falling off the wagon about 4-5 times (inc. way too many almonds, I guess since they're an "allowed" food!). I've come to the realization that Phase One MEANS Phase One with no cheats.

We've got a WDW trip coming up in May and I'd really, really like to lose at least 15 lbs. by then. Dare I admit we're trying the DP for the first time, but hope that I'll be able to not gain too much there and get back to work once we 're home again.

So glad this thread was started!!!

Karla B.
Welcome :welcome:

Hi All,
May I join? I found out about you from reading (what else!) the food reviews.
I have 8 weeks and 3 days before I leave for DW. I need to loose 30 lbs., but will try to drop 12. I plan to walk 5 days a week and cut out most sugar, unbleached flour, junk food.
My 17 year old son came home this afternoon with 3 friends. Instead of making my chicken breasts, I let them order pizza. Of course, I ate 2 slices.
I did well yesterday, but today
Ladies, I need your help. I don't want to gross people out at the pool. Not to mention my pants biting me on the long plane ride
Deb
Welcome :welcome:

I was ready 2 days ago. I am just waiting on you to show up

Just wanted to thank everyone for all the great smart snacking tips today.

On page 309 and trying real hard to catch up tonight. I just posted another dining review (warning - dessert pics and dole whips). I was going to try and write a dining review and trippie simultaneously - but it takes more time than I thought. Now I know why Wendy takes so long between installments. I mean the bar is set high and you don't want to disappoint and adding pics takes awhile!

Grumpy should be along soon.:thumbsup2 He just signed onto his computer...

Hi honey!! The girls were missing you!!

Which girls exactly - :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc or your beautiful princesses!
Grumpy - How did I miss your bikini pic? Can you repost that? And WOOOHHHOOOTTTYY on 100 posts and with a bunch of women - very impressive that you can get a word in at all!:rotfl:

Ok, I finally got my pictures uploaded to photobucket and now I'm going to try to post one.. here goes... if this works out it is a picture of me w/my DS6 Blake and the top of DS3 Justin's head.

http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p269/MMaykut/100_0340.jpg

Why can't I see a picture? Although I have met Melissa in person and I know she is gorgeous and very sweet!

Okay, diving in again.

Oh, today I had oatmeal for breakfast (yuck, but it lowers your cholesterol), Lean Cuisine pizza for lunch, and salad with grilled chicken for supper. I had a small bag of lemon physedible goldfish and 2 triscuits with hummus for snacks. Then I blew it and had a small brownie when the youth were here for prayer. But I sent the rest home with everyone!

Okay, couple of pages further so I had better reply now!

Good Morning!

I haven't had a chance to check in with you peeps in while but I'm still here!!

I was hoping to get a little advice from all of you experienced peeps regarding our upcoming weekend trip to the World. I'm going Friday morning with the kids and DH is driving over after internship Friday evening. So I get a day with the kids at the parks, just special Mommy time.:woohoo: I've never had a chance to do this before so I'm actually really excited! So my quandry is, what to do???? DD loves the thrill rides and so do I, but DS....not so much. And of course I want to do something everyone would enjoy. We've never done the new Nemo attraction at Epcot and we all love Soarin' so I'm thinking that's a strong possibility. Does anyone have any idea how busy Epcot might be on a Friday, or what the least busy park is. I guess maybe I should be asking this on the resort boards, but I "know" you guys and totally trust your opinions so I'd rather ask all of you...or all y'all as they say in the South!

Anyhoo, any advice you have would be appreciated, thanks!!!

I love Epcot! I thought the Nemo ride was cute. My DS 7 proclaimed it lame - but that is not unusual. I made my scaredy-cat DD 11 ride the mild version of Mission Space. She cried and was mad in line. But when she got off she felt silly for acting that way. It is basically a mild motion simulator. She also loves Test Track.

Let me tell you what happened to me last night and how I coped so that you can NOT do the same thing...

So, long story short (Too Late!), if you get tempted to eat anything you shouldn't today out of frustration or emotion or whatever - DON'T! Think of my heartburn and lack of sleep and how it just made things much worse for me and how I am still paying for it! The brownies were not even that good! :guilty: :guilty: :guilty:

Have a skinnie minnie day everyone!

P.S. - If anyone out there is saying prayers today, please think of our family and pray that DH's back is better for our trip - we really need this trip and leave in 4 days!

We have all had these days, sorry yours was so stressful. But next time just close your eyes and have a disney moment - that relieves stress! :cloud9:

Wendy...I LOVE that story ! :cloud9: I am soooo an 8 cow wife.....
Last year one of my husband golf buddys called me out of the blue. He called just because he wanted to let me know that when they play golf, my DH is always talking about what a great wife and mother I am ! I was floored ! It made me feel valued and appreiciated.

Still trying to figure out the 8 cow wife thing!:sad2:

I didn't realise all my "Friends" were hanging out here otherwise I would have joined weeks ago. :yay: And Melinda - Yes you are cheeky, especially about the way I "talk" :rotfl2:

See you later I'm going for a half hour walk before picking the DD's up from school, see you're a good influence already and it's not raining here so got to make the most of it. :rotfl:

WELCOME!!!

I am a 29 year old born and raised in Southeastern MA....I am an only child and am very close to my lovely parents, who live about 30 min. from me.
My boyfriend moved in about a year ago..it will be 2 years for us this coming February..and he is fantastic! He is a bit younger than me ( almost 3 years) and a firefighter to boot..JACKPOT! :rotfl2: We are very happy and enjoy traveling, cooking , TIVO (haha) and spending time with our friends. We have a black cat, Molly...and a black lab..Chief.
I am still not sure what i want to be when i "grow up"...i have degrees in both Elem. Education and Psychology..but am currently working as an administrative assistant...basically trying to figure out what i want to go to Grad school for...one day i will figure it out!
THE WEIGHT THANG:
Basically i have always had weight issues, i was a chunky kid, always about 15 lbs heavier than i should have been ( would love to have just 15 on me now!)...but always felt heavier and unattractive in my mind. I thinned out a bit during my late teens to mid twenties until i had surgery to remove a dermoid cyst AND my right ovary. That was in 2004 and between then and now I am 40 lbs heavier...and here i am now...happy, determined and ready to experience my life healthier than ever! I am hitting 30 with a bang this summer! :cool1:

WELCOME to you too!

Uh, yeah! We will be at WDW 5/18 (our anniversary) - 5/26, so the same time as you! :) I'll be the one with the camera attached to my face.
:rotfl2: :lmao:

My family got very tired of the picture taking, especially when I got in trouble trying to take a quick video during the Nemo musical (don't try this).

RED ALERT!!!

Then there was a whole 9x13 container of fudge in the workroom and some nice minister brought doughnuts for the whole staff! See why it's so hard to maintain a nice weight here!

Did anybody see the story about the family that was asked to get off of an airplane b/c the 3yr old daughter was having a pissy fit. They said that they asked them to leave the plane and before it took off for the safety and comfort of the other passengers.

Ok, even another reason not to put DD on a plane. I would be so embarrassed if they asked us to leave the plane since DD is 8! :rotfl:

Last talk we had, he said he didn't know if he would ever change his mind, but that he would put thought & consideration into it & that we could talk about it often. He sounded much more open to it than during our first conversation, but still pretty far from saying he was up for it. I have decided that right now, I need to work on me (which will filter into our relationship as well). I am putting a lot of energy right now into this lifestyle change, trying to get the photography business up and running, & I will be doing the actual paying of the bills, which I used to do, but somehow that changed when we moved into our house. That way I have a better grasp on what is available and how our savings is coming along. I have a hard time keeping track otherwise because DH's being a finance manager at a car dealership, his pay varies. We are also still working on the puppy's training. I want to get all of these things in order. I feel like a year from now, if I can accomplish all that, it may help DH to see that we can handle larger responsibilities, & I will be a much less stressed & absent-minded person. I know that there are lots of sacrifices to be made when you have children, but I truly think DH overestimates what those sacrifices would be, so that is something that I want to discuss with him over the next few months while showing him that BIG things can be accomplished with small sacrifices (by comparison to what the reward is worth). It's hard to explain, so I hope that makes sense.

And I have never been thrilled with my name, but I do know that it is Spanish and means beautiful. :goodvibes And I like that it is spelled uniquely even though people mispell it all the time. :) It has grown on me over the years, I guess.

Yes, you make perfect sense. I have two kids and I have two dogs. If you can train your puppy, kids will be a breeze. I watch the Dog Whisperer and he makes it look so easy, but I fail with the dogs so much of the time. :sad2: I am getting better though. Actually, I think a lot of the processes you go through to train a dog, would transfer over to children. :thumbsup2 I hope that didn't sound flip. I really mean that. It takes a lot of dedication, and I think you will prove to DH that you CAN handle and juggle everything, and then his heart will melt like buttah. ;)

I can relate to the name thing. Mine has been misspelled my whole life. That is why I named my kids with "regular" names, and common spellings. :)

I forgot, I wanted to join the teaching circle....

One tablespoon of ground flax seeds and three tablespoons of water may serve as a replacement for one egg in baking by binding the other ingredients together, and ground flax seeds can also be mixed in with oatmeal, yogurt, water (similar to Metamucil), or any other food item where a nutty flavour is appropriate. [citation needed] Flaxseed oil is most commonly consumed with salads or in capsules. Flax seed owes its nutritional benefits to lignans and omega-3 essential fatty acids. Omega-3s, often in short supply in populations with low-fish diets, promote heart health by reducing cholesterol, blood pressure and plaque formation in arteries. In addition, flaxseed oil is often recommended as a galactagogue. Lignans benefit the heart and possess anti-cancer properties: A series of research studies by Lilian U. Thompson and her colleagues at the Department of Nutritional Science of the University of Toronto have reported that flaxseed can have a beneficial effect in reducing tumour growth in mice, particularly the kind of tumour found in human post-menopausal breast cancer. The effects are thought to be due to the lignans in flaxseed, and are additive with those of tamoxifen, the currently standard drug treatment for these cancers. Initial studies suggest that flaxseed taken in the diet have similar beneficial effects in human cancer patients. Reports that flaxseed is beneficial in other cancers, e.g. prostate cancer, are less numerous but promising.

Flax seed sprouts are edible, with a slightly spicy flavour.

Not sure how it effects the other areas, but I do know Bean-O is very very effective!!! ;)

Ok teacher, I have a question.? Is it ok to eat the flaxseed meal every day?

I had a Kashi frozen meal tonight for dinner, and I sprinkled two tablespoons on top of it. I didn't eat it all (not because of the flaxseed). I didn't like the kind of Kashi meal (Lemongrass Coconut Chicken). DS asked why do you keep eating it if it tastes bad? I told him because it is healthy and good for me. He shook his head and said how can it be good for you when you have such a bad look on your face? :confused3 :rotfl: How did that kid get so smart? :rotfl:

On the way to DS hockey practice tonight I drank part of my 32 oz. of water (I had already had 32 oz. earlier in the day). I wanted to "wash" the flaxseed through. ;) :rotfl: Well, there was an accident on the way there. I kept drinking while sitting in traffic. I drink better when I am "mindlessly" drinking. It is better than "mindlessly" eating. ;) Well, as I got closer to the accident, I realized that the water has to go through at some point. Well, that point was about to be reached. :scared: I had to do the "pee pee wiggle dance" in the car. I made it to the ice rink just in time. ;) Note to self, don't mindlessly drink during traffic. You might have an "accident" yourself. ;) :rotfl::rotfl2:

Whew, finally caught up on today's posts!
Grumpy - you need to do us a special "Easter Candy" prayer! I get weaked kneed in Wal-mart when I pass that aisle. Cadbury eggs, snickers eggs, resees eggs, chocolate bunnies. I am sweating.

It is 11:15 pm here and I want a snack. I think I will eat a few carrots and go to bed.

i am probably hacking the spelling..as i do that quite often..but it is basicly a mediterranean type salsa, with couscous, cilantro, diced tomatoes and onions..VERY TASTY! you can find it where the hummus is found at the grocery store.

If this tastes like the stuff in Morocco - no thanks!:scared: I love hummus though!

I really need some support because the weight just isn't coming off on my own!:grouphug:

So glad this thread was started!!!:goodvibes
Karla B.

Glad to have you! You will love it here!

Hi All,
May I join? I found out about you from reading (what else!) the food reviews.

Deb

Of course! The more support the better!

Love this movie and especially that scene!

Well this isn't really food related but if you could spare a little pixie dust, I'd really appreciate it. As I mentioned I'm a graduate student studying speech pathology and I am at the point where I'm getting my own clients with supervision.
Foodwise, I was kinda bad today. I got really stressed (again, school related) because I wasn't feeling well, and my other supervisor sprung all this testing and screening stuff on us - for tomorrow on top of my nerves over tomorrow's session! So I've been scrambling to get things together and in the process ate a lot of junk. That I bought at CVS. Oops. Tomorrow is another day - and weigh day. Hopefully it's lower than last week. Even if it's a half a pound.

Thanks Peeps!
*Shannon

Pixie dust and prayers headed your way!!!

Good night peeps! Hey do you think it would be worth it to drive 9 hours to Orlando on a Friday, attend the Pirates and Princesses Party, spend the night, maybe go to Universal on Sat. and drive home on Sunday in time for Small group meeting at my house? There is a great website - something like www.easyorlandovacations.com I think with amazing offers - do you think they are for real!?
