I
really need some support because the weight just isn't coming off on my own!
What's worked for me in the past is South Beach Diet...3 years ago, I lost about 16 lbs., which brought me to a size 14. Not great, but when you've been straining at your 16s, it felt wonderful!

Little by little, but esp. in the past year (which has had multiple stresses inc. 2 family deaths), it's come back on and maybe even a couple pounds more. My 16s are feeling snug again.
The thing I still have a problem with mentally is that I was always a thin, thin child and teenager. Until my late 20s, I was still a size 8-10, which actually was better for me than when I'd--unbelievably!--looked too thin as a 4-6. When I hit 30, a few extra pounds came on each year and I didn't really mind because I thought I'd lose them easily. Seeing myself as a "skinny" person, I just didn't take it seriously. Then, along came DS and a move from the Northeast (Philadelphia) to the South (Kentucky) where DH has loads of extended family---meaning family gatherings around lotsa food---often! I was shocked when I passed 160 lbs. and now would
love to be there (about 16 pounds away). Once I reach THAT goal, I'd like to try to be a size 10-12 again. I'd be totally comfortable with that.
Two days ago, I thought I'd try SB again. Yet, I had a couple of minor cheats (2 tortilla chips and, my weakness, about 15 dark chocolate chocolate chips.) Today, I found my self falling off the wagon about 4-5 times (inc. way too many almonds, I guess since they're an "allowed" food!). I've come to the realization that Phase One MEANS Phase One with no cheats.
We've got a WDW trip coming up in May and I'd really, really like to lose at least 15 lbs. by then. Dare I admit we're trying the DP for the first time, but hope that I'll be able to not gain too much there and get back to work once we 're home again.
So glad this thread was started!!!
