DIS Divas Trip! (old thread, see first post for link to new one)

I have a quick question -- I know this is a girls trip, but so some DIVAS bring their family / or older kids along and break off to do Diva stuff whilst the family/ others do their own thing? I have my teen (17yo) son begging me to let him and his BFF come along. I'm sure they'd be up to doing their own things, but I don't know if its proper etiquette to let them tag along in the background or not. :confused3 personally, I'm all for keeping this trip as budget friendly as I can, since ill be doing a big WDW trip in FEB 2015--- paying for one is much more cost effective! But I am trying to weigh all the options I may have if those boys keep pressuring me to tag along!

That's fine. We've had ladies do that in the past. You, or anyone, are welcome to travel with another family member who isn't attending the trip, and then divide your time between the two. As long as you are comfortable separating from them, and letting them do their own thing when you are participating in Diva trip activities, then there's no problem with that at all.

It's not really allowed per se. We've had a couple Divas who came with family to vacation with before/after the Diva trip, but everything was seperate. For example, this last trip Marie and her husband were vacationing together before the Diva trip. They made their own reservations for those days, but once the Diva trip started, Marie moved into a room with her roomies and her husband went to Las Vegas to be with some guy friends.

Besides it kind of moots the point of going on an adult, ladies only trip if you let your 17 year old son and his BFF tag along. If you know what I mean. ;)

However, if your son and his friend are planning to be on their own for the most part, it probably wouldn't be a problem.

The only reason you see Jen's family on the roomie list is because she's on the Scavenger Hunt Committee and will have a newborn to feed, so her husband has to come if she's going to be able come and attend any of the functions at all, and as she said, it's a very big "IF".

Thank you for the welcome! Does the group have a facebook page? Do I need to reserve a room soon or is it done as a group? Is there a secret handshake? I hope to have my Disney crazy sister-in-law along with me or just my crazy friend Chris. Have to see who wants to spend a fun filled week with me.....

Hi Lori and welcome to the group! :yay:

We do have our own Facebook page. My name is Capri LaVigne. If you send me a friend request, I will be able to add you to our page. :thumbsup2

You don't need to reserve a room just yet, but we should be set up to start making reservations in about a week or so.

So am I a total dork that I'm so excited to call and make my actual reservation? :rotfl2:

THANKS! :goodvibes that's what I figured and definitely what would happen IF I even let them come.....they are big boys, almost 18 by then, so I'm sure they'd be fine doing their own thing while I did mine! But, I don't even know at this point if they'd be tagging along.....I really wanted to do something for me, so we will have to see how that pans out when the time comes. I definitely wouldn't be letting them tag along with me on any diva activities :p

By the way Miss Michelle, when can we expect to see you on Facebook? Hmmm? ;)
Oh, about that...

So on the DIVA trip several ladies kept telling me I could sign up on Facebook without using my actual name, which I'd rather not have out there for privacy reasons. I figured I could sign up basically for access to the DIS DIVAS page, right? So yesterday I tried setting one up with an alias, and ran into some difficulty because the software suspected I was using a fake name! (Did I mention I'm the world's worst liar...?) :rolleyes2

So I am trying to get on, and will let you know if it finally works, GEESH!

Welcome Lori! Secret handshake? Oh I love that idea. We should come up with something! We would really be cool huh?

Really?!?! I had no issues doing it a few years ago. I haven't tried recently though. Maybe use your middle name and your moms maiden name or something like that so it looks real but no one could tie it to you unless they knew.

Hmm, my nephew changes his facebook name on a frequent basis.. I mean really Bob Birdseed passed the "fake name" test? :sad2:

So maybe Alex K Mommy as a name should work, that way we "know" it's you :thumbsup2 You can set your preferences all to private, don't disclose if male or female. Alison's posts come up as "He commented" in my newsfeed- gasp - secretly a guy after all these years? :lmao: Sadly they don't make it easy! They make changes and I have to hunt to find everything to stop emails and letting people tag me, etc etc.

I went to the front page and the intro is all in ORANGE. It is truse the orange crush has taken over. :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:
I went to Fred Meyer (grocery/variety store) yesterday, and couldn't believe all the different shades of orange tees! :rotfl2:

Let's just say I may as well have signed up as "Captain Obvious". I was hoping that would help me remember the name and for other DIVAs to realize it was me. So I'll see if I can complete the registration today. Otherwise I'll have to scrap it and start over; using a mixture of 'real' names is a good idea. ::yes::

So am I a total dork that I'm so excited to call and make my actual reservation? :rotfl2:
Nope, not a dork, just a Diva! We are all super planners! ;)

:wave2:

I'm so excited to be staying at the Grand next year!
Hi, Sarah!!

I definitely wouldn't be letting them tag along with me on any diva activities :p
:thumbsup2 Cool. No boys allowed. :lmao: But, being in the park on their own is fine. It's a big park. But like you said, you also deserve some "you" time, so hopefully it all works out for you. :goodvibes

Wow. That's nuts!

:rotfl2: Alison! Who knew! So we have a Wendell and an Al.

Nice, huh? Pretty. Bright. Springy. Easy to spot. You see where I'm going with this... Orange rocks. ;)

Badge, sure. Flamethrower? :scared1: Depends on how many drinks you've had...

Actually, you and AmySue are in charge of the pub crawl. We are following your lead, from one drink to another. ;)

I will be totally responsible with my flamethrower. Pinky promise!

No mention of the Pub Crawl Committe....conspiracy?

Wow, I am hurt, really. It is a for.real.plan. No lie.:cool1:

Amy we are actually starting off in St. Louis. My mom grew up there and has not been back since she left at age 11. We are going to fly in there and go visit her dad's grave at the vet cemetery, go to her dad's hometown and try to do some research on his geneaology (he was born in 1889 and his mom was a cherokee indian so not many records). Then we are going to take the girls to the arch and grant's farm. After 2 days there we are driving across Kentucky and W Virginia and our destination will be Virginia and Colonial Williamsburg with stops and Jamestown and Yorktown. A little historical journey for the girls and ourselves. Then we are going to start heading down the coast and hit Virginia Beach, the Outter Banks and all stops in between with our destination being Charleston. I am hoping for a day in Savannah as well. I LOVE the south and all it's culture and history so really looking forward to it. I have been to NY DC and Florida but never to that part and never to the atlantic ocean. :)

Sounds like a good trip. I plan Ohio to see my folks, wish we could travel farther.

Me too!!! I would LOVE to join you at the pool!!! :beach:

I recommend an orange suit. Easier to identify.

While orange is my best color, I'll wear it for the pub crawl! lol

Looky there, another person in support of orange. Orange looks good on everyone. True.

So who was on the committee again? I know you are the CPCO (Chief Pub Crawl Officer). lol

I should have a fancy dancy title too. Maybe the Grand pumba of pub crawling. Or Honored Queen of the pub crawl. Something with pizazz.

Badge, sure. Flamethrower? :scared1: Depends on how many drinks you've had...

Sounds super de duper. But you forgot Cheryl. We might need legal cousel. You can never be too careful.

Is there a secret handshake?

Holy Moly!!! A secret handshake is exactly what has been missing.
I went to Fred Meyer (grocery/variety store) yesterday, and couldn't believe all the different shades of orange tees! :rotfl2:

Orange, the new BLACK. Everyone is wearing it.

After all that multiquoting, forgot what else I might have wanted to say.

Dang. And ****s and *****.

I just like being naughtly and getting censored. :dance3:
