Dis 10th Anniversary mention - July 2016

I fail to see how any of my mentioned venues are not realistic. Pete has a house and a backyard. He even has an outdoor kitchen. Why could this not be done? It surely would be cheaper than renting out Africa, and I doubt there will be that many people there.

No offense, but I'd say none of those 3 options would count as "awesome". When I hear Pete talk about a "very cool venue" I'm thinking much more out of the box than that, like the ballroom of Haunted Mansion, for example.

But that isn't realistic. You could fit maybe 20 people in there. I don't think they'd do that small a venue.

ABD has a smaller group. I think my Backstage Magic group had about 30 people. The Diagon Alley event sold a little over 800 tickets I believe. I guess they could do an event for 30-40 people, not sure how they would do tickets. Maybe a lottery system?

Seeing as no information has been released, and more and more people are posting that they are out, 40 people sounds right.

I would actually love this and would hoping someone would bring it up, or that they'd reveal they were able to put something like that together. We should totally make it happen.

Absolutely! They already said that there may be a ticketed event that wouldn't be cheap that would be a fundraiser for GKTW.

Excellent! I didn't get an opportunity to do this before Disapalooza this year and I loved volunteering at GKTW. I am more than happy to coordinate that if needed. I'll be on summer vacation then, so I've got some time.

Not that I've heard of. You could call and double check that your name is on file.

I haven't watched that. I'll have to pull it up this weekend.
100K really isn't out of the question. We've raised 15K or so at regional DIS meets with only about 150 people. If 1,000 people come to this and there are higher-end ticketed events and really unique auction items and maybe some matching funds form a big donor or two, that's totally doable.

I remember hearing a event would be planned soon on the podcast for dis unplugged/ wdwinfo anniversary sometime in late July. I think Pete said the weekend of July 22nd. We will be in Orlando then and I may have missed the details but has this event been planned yet?

If so where can I find the details.

Nothing is official yet they are still working with Disney on the details. The dates that have been thrown out by the team are the 22 -26 of July with the tenth anniversary being the 25th.

I really can't wait for July. It's going to be a blast. I know they must be planning some awesome things for us all. The anticipation is killing me! (and all of us! haha)
