Dinning Package and DVC ownership

My husband and I are considering DVC ownership. We just spent a week at DW in August, stayed on property of course, and had the dining package. We really loved the dining options and meals. We were wondering if you buy DVC can you still get the dining package when you visit DW?? As far as I know, you have to book dining through the main reservations.

No dining package. That is for full price reservations from a Disney resort. DVC is a timeshare, and as such doesn't come under the same reservation system as CRO. Reservations are made with points, not cash. We have been told that at some point in the future they MAY offer it for a price to DVC members. I personally don't see us ever using it, since the DDE discounts provided with our discounted annual passes seem to be a much better fit for us.

The dining plan is only available with a room and MYW ticket package. So it's not only DVC reservations that are excluded, but also any type of room only reservation, including AP discounts. If you have an AP, you still have to buy a 1 day ticket in order to get the package, plus the full price room.

The other option for dining is the AP/Disney Dining Experience (DDE) card. As a DVC owner you get $100 off of each adult AP ($75 or $85 off of the renewal). Than, as an AP holder you can buy the DDE card (also a year membership) at the discounted price of $50, which gives you 20% off of all sitdown dining, some food courts (POP, POFQ), and alchoholic beverages.

We made our money back on the DDE card this past June/July, had some memorable meals at places we would not have thought of previously, and look forward to our upcoming trips with it. We are fortunate enough to have 3 trips to come through the end of the year so this plan is definitely worth it to us. We are good eaters, and I can't imagine eating everything that is suggested in the dining plan. This just suited us better - less waste.
