Hello All,

For the first time, i'll be vacationing a Walk Disney World with a friend who is Lactose Intolerant. I'm a WDW veteran, and he's not, so i'm trying to come up with "some plans". He tends to eat pretty basically when he eats out, and has told me "Italian food and Mexican are usually the hardest to find dairy free..."

Well, my question is, is there a resource where I can find places, or menu items at places that won't make him ill? I haven't had to consider "non-dairy" dining before. I'd like to take him to at least one or two of our favorites (Boma, O'Hana), but i'd also like to be a little careful in what i suggest or plan.

Thanks for any suggestions you can give me....

Go to the disabilities board lots of info there. Dd is allergic to gluten and dairy and Disney is awesome. The chef will come out and talk to your friend. He will be able to eat at mexican amd italian places at Disney. Have you made adr's? If you do let them know he is allergic to it.

Thanks for the advice, i found the email address to Brenda about dietary needs, and set her an email asking about counter service places. I'm having to redo our ADR's (as he & his wife are an addition to our trip), and wanting to do that fairly soon. But we're pretty flexible about where we get to eat this trip, so i'm not fretting over no ADR's or anything. I'll definately note the condition on any ADR's we make.

I've sent him the menu's to Citroco's, Boma (dunno bout this one), and O'Hana (i figure grilled meats would probably be good), as a starter, so we'll see.

I would suggest going to the disABILITIES Forum and look at Post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs. There is a large section in that post dealing with special dietary needs, as well as many related links. You can get directly to the disABILITIES FAQs by following the link in my signature.

This is a very common topic of discussion in the disABILITIES Forum.

Hi there! Im also lactose intolerant and I was completely fine at the sit down restaurants in Disney. When they give you your menu theyll usually ask if you have any allergies and if you say youre allergic to lactose they are great- they usually brought out a chef to talk to me and let me know exactly what i could and could not eat. They also made some meals differently for me (ex: taking the cream sauce out of a pasta dish and substituting it with something else, etc.). Everyone was very nice- I even had a waiter jump back after putting butter on the table to let me know it had dairy lol! Your friend will be completely fine!
