Dining reviews-Just back! (a little long)

DW and I just returned from a four night stay (2/11 to 2/15) at BCV at WDW and would like to share our dining experiences with the DIS community. I have learned so much in a year and a half of lurking here. Just the two of us on this valentines trip, so we ate nicer than we normally would on vacation.

Cape May Cafe (Tuesday 2/11)
We had a 7pm ps, arrived five munites early and waited 35 minutes to be seated. (We had to wait for the first two person table to open. Watched as family's without ps's arrived and were seated.) We both really enjoyed the buffet. DW went with chili and ribs, I opted for seafood including the clam chowder, boiled shrimp and baked fish. All was good but the dessert bar was great, we sampled our way through most of the desserts.
The atmosphere was very pleasant and our waiter was freindly and helpful. We will definitly give Cape May another try (dispite our long wait).

LeCellier (Wednesday 2/12)
We had 11:30am ps, and were the first customers seated in the restarant for lunch at 11:30 promptly. It was our waitresses second day on the job, but she was very good and very familiar with the menu. DW and I shared a bowl of the cheese soup, we used it as a dip for the fresh baked bread sticks they serve. The best combination was the pretzel bread stick with the soup.
DW ordered the grilled steak burger and fries and pronounced it the best burger she has ever eaten! I ordered the prime rib dip sandwich, it was very good. I had the potato salad side, it was very different. We passed on dessert, we were too full. We WILL dine at Le Cellier again (we almost dined their two days later).

Restaurant Merrakesh (Wednesday 2/12)
We had a 6:00pm ps, arrived five minutes early and were seated immediately. service here was very quick. DW had a cocktail as we shared an appetizer of Seafood Bastilla. DW said the Bastilla was great, I say that it was just good. DW had the Chicken Kababs, she enjoyed them, I had the Roast Lamb Meshoui, it was fantastic. It was so tender it fell apart at the touch of the fork, it melted in your mouth. We shared the Bastilla (crispy pastry covered in almonds and vanilla ice cream) for dessert, It was great.
The great meal, unique architecture, live music and the belly dancer made for a great overall evening. We plan to dine at Marrakesh again.

Flame Tree Barbeque (Thursday 2/13)
(Counter service) We arrived just before 11:00am, there was no line and we were served quickly. We walked down to a pavillion on the river behind the restaraunt. Only one other family was eating in the pavillion while we were there. We had a nice view of some of the ruins in Asia. We both had the Barbeque Chicken Salad and shared an order of fries. The salad was served in a large toasted garlic shell and had chopped up barbeque chicken mixed in it. It was very tasty with barbeque sauce over it. We both loved it and will plan to eat at Flame tree again.

Jiko (Thursday 2/13)
We had a 6:30pm ps, arrived 15 minutes early and were seated immediately. DW and I shared an olive flatbread appetizer. It was fabulous! DW had the Oak grilled beef tenderloin over mac and cheese. She loved it, and has decreed that all mac and cheese, from this point forward, should be served with a red wine sauce. I had the pan roasted monk fish, with grilled vegitables and crispy parsnips. Mine was very good, the crispy parsips made a surprisingly good garnish. We each had a glass of white wine (a reisling) with dinner. We then shared the chocolate symphony for dessert. DW loved dessert, I (not as addicted to chocolate) only enjoyed it. Jiko is a beautiful restaurant with great atmosphere, though a little dark. We highly recommend Jiko.

Rose & Crown (Friday 2/14)
Had no ps for lunch. Inquired at the R&C counter at 11:15 about lunch availability, and arrainged for an 11:30 seating. Seated on the patio overlooking world showcase lagoon at 11:30 by very freindly wait staff. We had a cocktail. DW ordered sausage rolls, which were very tasty. I had the Guinness stew, which was also very good. We shared a Chocolate Mousse Parfait which we both loved. The Rose & Crown is very comfortable, we want to try it for dinner next trip.

Artist Point (Friday 2/14) (Valentine dinner)
We had an 8:30pm ps. (late ps because we had early tickets to cirque du soleil) We arrived 20 munites early and were seated immediately. We shared a venison spring roll appetizer which we both loved. We ordered a bottle of wine (a chardonnay) with dinner. DW ordered the Filet, which she loved, I tasted it and thought it was one of the best steaks I have ever tasted. I ordered the plank cooked salmon, it was the best I have eaten. We shared the Artist Point Cobbler which is covered in all kinds of fresh berries and vanilla ice cream. We are talking lots of very good strawberrys, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries. The waiter presented my dw with a red carnation after dinner. This was a perfect valentines dinner. By far the best meal we had on vacation. It was a little pricey, especially with the bottle of wine thrown in, but worth it.

Great reviews and it sounds like you enjoyed some wonderful meals. I would have been ticked at Cape May, but it sounds like you handled it with great grace.:D

Great Reviews, Thanks! Artist point is one of our favorite places. Our tab becomes even pricier because we leave the kids at a "club" and that adds $80.00 to the price of the night out! We still think it is well worth it though.;)

Excellent reviews! Thanks!

Thanks for the reviews!

We're also a party of 2, and have waited for longer periods of time because of the size of our party.

I guess most of the restaurants are predisposed to 'family' sized parties.

We've gotton around that though.... we now book our PSs for about 30 minutes before we really want to eat, that way we budget the wait time accordingly.

Thanks for the great and detailed reviews! It sounds like you had pleasant dining experiences overall. I was especially interested in hearing about Rose & Crown, since I had read of some negative experiences with their fish and chips. Thanks again!

Thanks for the great reviews! I loved both Jiko and Artist Point when I dined there, and hope to return soon - my mouth is watering after reading your reviews! Plus, Marrakesh is a new favorite of mine, as well.

Hi RealMickey - I enjoyed your reviews! Not only were we at Marrakesh on the same day, but probably at the same time! I believe our p.s. was for 5:45. We were seated adjacent to the dance floor, to the right of the musician's setup. It's tough to be back here making dinner instead of eating in WDW, isn't it? :p

Cheers!

I really enjoyed your review! Thanks for sharing it with us! :) We spent last Valentine's Day in WDW--your review brought back some good memories. :)
