Great reviews. Do you think the Yachstman steakhouse would be worth it without the dining plan? Thanks.

I definitely think so. The DDP was an added bonus for us last year, but it was one of the restaurants I had been really wanting to try and probably would have regardless of the DDP. Would we have gotten 2 apps and 2 desserts? Probably not - but I would cetainly go there again for the entrees.

I just read your whole dining report today and it's GREAT! I'm not quite brave enough to take pictures of our food yet though. Isn't that silly of me? I love, love, love to see other people's pictures - yet I think I'm gonna be banned from the restaurant for taking pics myself. :rotfl:

Thanks so much for sharing...I'm off now to go read your TR!

Brilliant report and photos! Really enjoyed reading it :)

Hi Kim and Booknut -

So glad that you are enjoying the pictures and reviews. BTW - my DH at first thought I was nuts for wanting to take pictures, but he was soon just as into it as I was.

Aahhh... food porn... loving' it! I never wrote separate food threads for my trips... maybe this next one???

And you might have sold me on the ice wine... I don't like most wines, but this one sounds like I might... sadly (well, not to my wallet!) I like Boone's Farm. Kool Aid for Adults.

Since I had only heard about this and never experienced it, I was shocked when it came in one of those little itty bitty wine glasses - I think it might have been a cordials glass. I think DH was relieved that even though I love sweet wines that this one was ok, but not great. For the price and the amount of wine it made his wallet happy that I only ordered the one. ::yes::

I’m adding a disclaimer at the top of this, because this was the day we totally forgot to get pictures. I actually have one on my phone of my dinner, and if I can figure out how to pull it off, I’ll post it later. But it was definitely a sad day for food pictures in the TyRy house!

Today started off really great as I FINALLY got my Mickey waffle that I had been dying for the whole trip. I was really disappointed that Roaring Forks did not have these, so I was ecstatic that Mara did. So I started the day with a Mickey Waffle with Bacon and DH had the Breakfast Wrap with Breakfast Potatoes.

DH immediately declared he liked Mara WAAAYYYYY better than Roaring Forks just due to the selection. I gotta agree with him on that one. The waffle was just as yummy as ever and just as hard to spread butter on without tearing it apart. Anyone out there have any secrets for buttering a Mickey waffle?

We went offsite (GASP! ) to Universal today, so lunch consisted of a couple of pieces of fried chicken…it was ok, but not great. And the prices at Universal were consistently more than at Disney whether it was for food or a drink.

We split up for dinner as the Chicago Bears had a night game, so DH went with his DF to ESPN Zone and DMIL and I went to Narcoossee’s for the romantic dinner I had planned. HEY – I figured the Bears would be on during the day, not a night game!

So we leave the guys and head over to Narcoossee’s. We had a great table with a perfect view of the MK. We were not up against the windows, but across the aisle. Worked out great later.

I started with a Narcoossee’s Lemonade – very tasty.

Unfortunately I did not take notes on what DMIL had to eat or drink. So between no notes and no pictures this will be a very one sided day. I think it must have been the going off property that threw me off :rotfl2:

We were brought bread and butter to our table – one of the best I had all trip. It was sourdough bread and the butter had Hawaiian sea salt one it…it totally added a different type of taste and was delicious.

For an appetizer I had the Hearts of Romaine with the apple cidar vinaigrette on the side. I don’t think I mentioned it before, but at most places if I had the romaine or Caesar salads I always substituted a type of vinaigrette for the Caesar dressing and all the CM’s were accommodating. The salad was a typical salad, but the dressing was very good.

I think it was about this time when Wishes started. They told people to go out onto the deck, or they could stay seated as they would pipe the music in. Here’s where being farther back and not against the windows paid off. The people at the tables right up against the windows were now staring at the back of people standing on the porch. We were far enough back they we could see over them and see the fireworks…it was really nice.

For dinner I had the Grilled Filet (without sauce) and mashed potatoes instead of the au gratin. It was done just right – as usual asked for medium and got medium rare – but was not as tender as some of the others I had during the trip, so that was a little disappointing.

We skipped dessert, and headed back to the ESPN Zone to watch the end of the game. Thankfully the Bears were winning so the guys were in a good mood. I can’t remember what they had to eat, but I think we were told something like French fries, hot dogs and nachos. I did get my final – and only THIRD – glowcube of the trip as I ordered a Year of a Million Dreams tini. Was also yummy.

Tomorrow it’s Boma for breakfast and then off to the castle for dinner!!

Love:lovestruc your French Onion Soup pictures - YUMMY ! ;)

I have to admit - I now try French Onion Soup whenever I see it at a restaurant. The best one is still by my house in IL, BUT at WDW the best was in France. Again - it was probably one of our "DUH" moments but shouldn't that be where the best would be found :rotfl:

You're doing a fantastic job! Thanks for all the reviews!

Thanks very much

Just curious... where is the yummy onion soup in Illinois? We're in the Chicago suburbs... is it close to us???:)

It's in Forest Park at a little tiny restaurant called the Golden Steer. We are frequent vistors there and they have the best French Onion Soup I've ever had.
