Dining at SSR

I just read on another post that a place called Giordano's will deliver to WDW resorts. I wrote the number down and it is: 407-239-8900. People also mentioned getting delivery from Dominoe's (407-239-1221) and Pizza Hut (407-397-7272). I took all the #'s and put them in my file since we are staying at SSR in October and January. For the person who went to RFC how long did that take? We love RFC and I know DH would have no problem with going over there and bringing back food for us (esp if he can drink in bar while our order is prepared lol). This is one of the worries I have with this resort, we'll see.

We stayed in Congress Park and Rainforest Cafe was only a five minute walk from there. I'd say add five minutes if you're staying at The Springs (at least that's how long it took us to walk from Congress Park to Carriage House, YMMV). :sunny:

Hope that helps,

I am thrilled to hear that Giordano's delivers to WDW resorts. We used to have a Girodano's here and it closed. I loved it! If this is the same chain, it is good stuff. They specialize in the thick or stuffed crust kind of pizza if anyone's interested.

We went to get lunch at AP one day while swimming and it felt awkward going in there with our bathing suits on and cover ups.

lens,

This cracked me up, I was just there last week and my DW says did you see the sign that says shirts and shoes required. Well I'm in there with my big old belly hanging down dripping wet, (had my sneaks on) trying to get a jumbo Hotdog :)

So after she says that, now I'm looking around to see if there are other dress code violations going on, whew, sure enough I wasn't alone.

God help us and forgive us for being on vacation!!!!

I say we all invade AP with barefeet and no shirts (guys only of course).
Hey if it's good enough to view skin at the pool it's good enough in AP.

Interesting thread. When SSR was first being built, I put on a thread about how nice it'd be if they added a new full service restaurant.
I was roughed up by almost one and all--everyone insisting that since SSR was so close to DD, a full service restaurant was the last thing they would ever need.

That is so funny to me. SSR's lack of a full service restaurant is the main reason our family does not want to stay there. I can't believe that many people think there should not be more dining options besides AP and it's limited menu.
We want to try someplace besides our home resort of BWV in 2007 and are thinking "any place besides SSR" because of the dining. I hope they change it, I'd love to try the resort.

Even more interesting is the fact that they HAD a full service restaurant in the SSR "general area"--Seasons. It was there when the place was the Disney Institute. We had dinner there 3 times before it closed. It never did well and was never full--but then, the Institute was never full.
Too bad they didn't plan ahead and leave Seasons where it was---.

I knew this going in, and bought a resale at OKW. Didn't you realize that Room Service would not be available?

However, I do agree that it would be nice to sit by the pool and order a burger.

Actually no, and OKW doesn't have room service either. I guess they at least have a sit down restaurant. We bought into SSR before it was built. Our guide stated that SSR fod options would rival any onsite resort. He talked about an upscale food court and tons of grab and go options. It doesn't matter to us anyway, we just use our points elsewhere. Poolside food I hope will come down the road. It doesn't have to be fancy just a little something.

This will change when your kids are teenagers. Mine absolutely love SSR...easy access to downtown disney for dinners (they like variety) and entertainment. :grouphug:

You are probably right about that. We talk about how our travel habits will change down the road. Maybe SSR will be an option down the road. Just not for awhile. Thanks for the post.

I would be "ticked" if our guide lied to me.

Do they offer poolside service at any other resorts? I did not see it at VWL last September.

Anyone know if the other DVC resorts offer it?

You are not alone. It seems anyone who dares question SSR gets "roughed up" on these boards. You were right on the money with those thoughts.

I agree room service is a great luxury and would be fine to have. The truth is, though, we have only ordered room service once at WDW while staying at Boardwalk. It cost about $30 + for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (with chips) and a salad.

I'd rather spend the money on groceries personally. Or venture out to DTD and have a nice meal. If you make your main meal lunch, $30 will get you more than something nice for two people.

IMO room service is a rip off at WDW and only for those who have a lot of money to blow.

Could care less about the full service restaurant too. Wherever you are at SSR, the walk to the main area would be comprable to the walk to the marketplace so what's the difference?

I just think they should beef up the selection at AP. Make it really good. I expected more from it. Bigger, more selection, etc.

Poolside--I wish they had a Hurricane Hannah's type place. If they do add a restaurant I hope it is fairly casual so you can go breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Hey, how about a character breakfast!

I never really order room service, when ever I travel, simply because it is usually so outrageous in price for what you get, so I agree with you there. I think folks were maybe interested in more of a pizza delivery - I think some of the hotels have it, and the price isn't your typical "room service" price. At least provide/recommend some of the local pizza delivery folks in the local area. I'd be ok if they had some Papa John's brochures in the rooms, etc.

I love the idea of the full service restaurant, since we always seem to find ourselves at Olivias in OKW or Whispering Canyon Cafe for at least one night when we stay there. Although we plan on doing one restaurant meal a day, we try to plan the rest for in the room, but sometimes you just don't feel like cooking when you thought you would. Those are the nights when I like the option of going someplace close and sitting down and relaxing after a day at the parks and having someone wait on me. Originally I kept thinking that AP would be fine, since DD was so close, etc., but it is so limited, it was a pretty big disappointment for me. I kept thinking that they must not want us to go there and instead to just go to DD. This seems to be one of the bigger issues with folks - and them NOT wanting to stay there, that when everything is fully built, I can't see how disney can afford not to build up that area at the main house, and include another full service restaurant. Oh, and I LOVE the character breakfast idea, by the way! :cool1:

any one know where I can get the number to alberstons grocery store
