Christy, beautiful as always! Love those beads! Did you ever decide on the DSLR or not? Did I tell you I sold my D40 and got the D90? It's a beast, lol but I'm getting the hang of it.

My BIL said we could keep the D50 for as long as we want, so my hubby says we don't need to be in a hurry to buy our own. LOL! I'll never go back to a point and shoot though -- the pics with the SLR are so much better -- IMO. Ooooh -- the D90!!! You lucky girl. Does it seem a lot more complicated than the D40? How does it feel? Is it heavier?

It's more buttons but less complicated because it has dedicated buttons for stuff instead of having to go through the menus to change it. It is heavier for sure but it took me awhile to get used to the D40 too. It also has less auto modes but that's forced me to think about what I'm doing and in the end I think I'm getting better pics. I been mainly shooting in Aperture priority with success. It took me a bit longer to get a handle on it but overall I'm happy with it. Yay for getting to play as long as you want! I could never go back either. DSLR's trump PnS all the way. I have some shots of my youngest DD going down the slide in succession, no way I could of gotten them with a PnS. I would have got one, not four super sharp, w/hilarious expressions hubby wants me to make into a GIF. LOL

Sounds snazzy! I'm kind of overly dependent on the auto settings.... I really need to take a class and branch out a little. Someone recommeded a DSLR 101 type site on here a while back, and I didn't save the link and can't find the post, do you remember which one it was by chance? You mgiht have been the person who recommended it?

Hmmn, I think Two Peas has a free class with PDF's you can print out. I seriously recommend "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson. Buy it, don't borrow it because you'll read it repeatedly. He really puts it in terms that are easy to understand. I was dependent on Auto settings too but I'm really surprised and pleased to find myself knowing what to do. Even in manual settings the camera's meter will help you know what you need to do. Semi manual is a piece of cake once you get the idea of aperture and camera speed. If I 'get it' anyone can, trust me, lol.

Did a quick search, I found this very understandable:
http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/cg_display.asp?g=2&seed_id=26022

They have a bunch of 'plain English' photo articles.

Here's a few more pages I have completed. Again, please offer constructive criticism - I promise I can take it...I think! ;)

DD's Halloween costume - I used the Magic Wand in SBC+ for th first time and was pretty pleased with the final result. Always room to improve, but ya gotta start somewhere, right?

2ndgrade-Page015.jpg

Under the BigTop/Circus - Free DAD, don't recall site though.

Suzi - Love the Snow White page and the alpha color changes is great; thanks for the how to - I'm going to have to try it.

Barbara - Those kits mix great; love the pirate hat on the skull. The fading makes the photos part of the page.

Fran Neat way to scrap the memory.

Jessi Very nice halloween cards; those look like such fun.

kellig You've been busy; the cutout on the wicked page is excellent.

Britt Wonderful, love the Snow White and the textures; the wheelchair page is great. When at Disney the show must go on!

quiltymom Very fun; love the face pictures

Christy Love it; Penny's checks are so pink and the colors pull out her dress. Relly cute.

Kellig your pages are AWESOME!! I am a digi-scrap vet by now and I still scraplift and use templates ALL THE TIME! It's totally the norm!! :)

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I just feel like I am "cheating" when I lift a LO. I know I will get more comfortable in my design style, it just takes time. Hoping to get brave enought to join in on a challenge soon.....

I don't think I posted the ones I did for the speed scraps at SM.

Evening Speed Scrap - Lincoln Park Conservatory in Chicago. I love how this one turned out.

Daytime Speed Scrap - My sister and I on Dumbo at WDW in Jan. 2007.

The next two are for the Tuesday Template challenges at SM

First Visit - Photos of our trip to Disneyland. All of the photos are from the first day.

Kilimanjaro Safari - Photos from January 2007.

Melissa, I LOVE your LO's! I think the Dumbo is adorable with the elephant background you used. I always enjoy seeing your work...it looks SO put together!

I can't believe how fast you are moving along!! Your pages are GORGEOUS! I scraplift and use templates a lot too. There are so many options with digiscrapping that sometimes it helps to have a jumping off point. AWESOME job! And I need to take an SBC+ magic wand lesson from you! :) Please do join in some challenges soon! :goodvibes

Thanks a bunch, Wen! :) I'll put that book on my Christmas wish list too!

Christy-You would probably rethink that if you saw my last few attempts! I think I just lucked out, because I can't do it again! :confused3 Oh well, I'll keep trying and hopefully I can get it to work again. Thanks again for your help getting to this point, I really appreciate it!

Under the Sea - Here is the layout I did with Britt's new kit, "The Bright Side." I think this is going to be one of my favorite kits. Its so bright and colorful and happy. Seriously fabulous!!!

Um... I scraplift all the time. :rolleyes1 If I didn't I'd hardly get any pages done. And I do post pages I've done so I may hopefully inspire someone else.

You should consider doing Speed Scraps and the Tuesday Template Challenge over at Scrap Matters. The Speed Scraps teach you to think fast and to do techniques, etc., that you may not otherwise have done, and the Template Challenge is a great way to get and use a new template and see how others have used it, as well.

Melissa - I love that carousel!!!! And did you know that the bathroom that's on the pathway over near the entrance to the Grizzly River recreation area has tiles of the carousel animals on them?

Oops - didn't mean to send that so soon. It's a great LO - nice bright, fun colors. I 'll have to check out that kit.

But I'll do that another day. We leave for our church retreat in about 2-1/2 hours and I'm still doing laundry, making & canning applesauce & packing, all after a 2-1/2 meeting at school this morning. I gotta boogie!

Melissa Wonderful pages; love the Lincoln Park. Chicago is on my list of places to visit and I just read a book that talked about Lincoln Park. Love the carousel - you're right lots of great stuff in the kit.

Britt Your niece is adorable; love the shades. The clustering really makes such a great focus on the pictures.

I also scraplift all the time; I'm much more creative when I have something to copy or a pattern. :rolleyes1
