Diet Pills

Pauldavidsmom- I am at about 2 weeks and 4 days. I lost 10 pounds the first 2 weeks like you, but then I was stuck for 3 days. I decided to not get discouraged, but continue to exercise and eat as I had been. Today I was down 1.2 lbs!!! :cool1: I hope the mini plateau is over!

Stick with it and don't get discouraged. Think of how far you've come in 2 weeks!:cheer2:

Well that is good to know! Thanks!!
I love that we can all be supportive of each other.

(and way to go on the weightloss!)

Just an update:
I've been on the pill for a month now. I've lost 13 lbs this first month. I went to my dr. so she could check my blood pressure and she gave me a prescription for another 3 months. She suggested I take a week off from the pill and then start up again to kinda kick start it. So I don't have to see her for another 3 months which is nice.
Still got the dry mouth when I take the pill but am used to it by now. I've been off of the pill for 4 days now and have noticed how my appetite has stayed the same as when I'm on the pill. So I have not gained any of the weight back in those 4 days. Interesting. But i'm glad.

How is everyone else doing??

See your doctor, he will have the best answer for you.
I have to say that I am doing weight watchers and have lost a total of 80 lbs! Of course my pregnancy and birth were in the middle, but it works!

Congrats on the weight loss. I have done WW in the past and was a bit successful with it as well.

At my doctor's practice, you must be on a weight loss program before they will prescribe any diet pills. So I joined Weight Watchers and she said after I prove I have been doing it for a month, she will prescribe pills.

So I should be getting a prescription next week.

I have lost 4 lbs on WW!

Wow congratulations on the 13 lbs. that is great for a month. I have never lost that much in a month ever. I have lost 6 lb.s total and I have been taking 1/2 pill (37.5) for over 2 weeks. I guess I will never lose fast but at least the scale is moving down. Thanks for posting about taking the week off, I have heard that helps. It is so good that your appetite has stayed the same without the pills. How much exercise do you usually do? I try for at least 30 minutes 5 days a week. I have to try to take the whole pill but it makes me nervous with the other meds . Since I take thyroid meds in the AM, I can't take Phentermine until 11:00 am and I don't take a whole one because I don't want to be up all night. I have a Dr.'s appt next week so I will see what he suggest and if he refills my Phen after they check my thyroid levels. I will keep you posted. :)

Congrats To You All, Way To Go!!!

I just went to doctor today & got prescription for Adipex. I'd like to lose about 60 lbs. YIKES!:scared1: I almost cried when I got on the scale.:sad1:
Good luck to you all! And pray for me! I love food & this is going to be VERY hard!

What?! Take pills? Pills are a crutch.

I can't control my kids - I need a pill.
I can't sleep - I need a pill.
I can't wake up - I need a pill.
I can't lose weight - I need a pill.
I can't remember where I put my pills - I need a pill.

I love this thread! I have thyroid problems and haven't lost the 40lbs. after my son was born 5 years ago. I started Maridia 2 days ago but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. I still feel hungery. How long does it take to start working? At least the $148 charge for the pills has made me motivated to get moving! The cost was outrageous. I have started walking everyday and the doctor put me on a 1500 calorie diet. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also do you know of any good web sites for healthy recipes that my family will eat too?

I took Phentermine for about 2 months about 6 years or so back. I was NOT fat. Only had maybe 25 lbs to lose to be "skinny". And I was YOUNG. Was perscribed to me by a shady doctor. And now I have heart palpatations. When I was on it, my heart would speed up so much. I couldn't catch my breath, and i would start sweating. At night. when i was trying to fall asleep!
It's scarey stuff. just exersise, diet and stay strong.
You can do it!

You don't everyones medical history that is on these meds. Why so negative. I personally have a completely out of whack thyroid and am taking meds. It makes me have no metabloism. I have worked out and counted points for over a year and only lost 2 lbs. I have 20 baby weight pound that just won't go away no matter what I do. Also before kids and thyroid problems I weighed 106 lbs. (5'2") until I had DS2. Now I can't get out of the 130's. I have been into fitness my whole life but that alone doesn't help anymore. At least the with my thyroid meds I should have a chance at losing some weight. I have to be on the meds for my whole life which stinks. I think your post is rather judgemental :snooty: since I have been on weight watchers and Jenny craig and can't lose. I'm sure I'm not the only who has trouble losing even a few pounds with diet and exercise.
I see your from Modesto, isn't that where Scott and Lacey lived until he became a skum?

Sorry I don't have any good family recipes ,wish I did because my family doesn't want to eat Low fat with me either. They do eat pretty healthy always have but they won't eat whole wheat pasta but at least they eat whole wheat bread and lots of yogurt andstuff like that. My kids love Macaroni & cheese and other kid food. DH likes to Italian and mexican food alot LOL. I try to make grilled chicken and and plenty of veggies so we can all eat together. Also salads work out good for dinner (DS2 won't eat salad )for my family.

I have heard Meridia is expensive. I hope it works at least. I don't know if Phentermine and Meridia are similar or not. I think I would rather have meridia sine I heard it is safer. I only take half a tablet of Phen a day because I get nervous taking these mads. It is really hard to lose that baby weight especially when you begin having thyroid issues during pregnancy. Sounds like 1500 calories should be healthy for you. I eat only 1200 right now and work out 5 days a week for 30- 60 minutes. I'm sure some others on the board might know a good website for healthy recipes. Good luck to you :goodvibes .

Great post!!!

Maybe we should start another thread so we can all support each other in our weight loss journey.

Also, in reference for not sleeping. There a legitimate reasons why someone may need help. My aunt can only sleep for 4 hours and she is on a sleeping pill. She has had to go in twice for sleep testing to see what is wrong. She needs to rest so please stop with the judgments.

Everyone's history is different and I have struggled to lose weight after having my son 3 years ago. The weight just won't come off. I exercise (the gym is downstairs so there isn't an excuse unless I am sick) and I try to eat healthy so we positive vibes our way not negativity.

I think we all know the pros and cons.

Good idea about starting a new thread, let me know. I know how you feel my DS2 will turn 3 the end of May and I still need to lose 20 lbs. It may not sound like alot but for my height it is and I feel yucky! I also have gym equipment in my home now and used to belong to Gold Gym a couple years ago but nothing has worked :headache: . Good job on WW by the way. It didn't work for me only like 2 lbs in 8 weeks lol.

I second starting a new support thread. I have done WW in the past and have been sucessful with it. As for anyone who reads this that says we don't need pills....some do. I am one of them. I didn't buy them from the internet. I didn't get them from a shady dr. I went to my regular dr. who knows me and my health history and we made a decision. I exercise. I am also eating 1000 calories a day. I cut out sweets and junk food. That's how I lost the weight~WITH the help of the pill. It's not like I take the pill and scarf down a bag of chips.
Please remember that even though you don't know us in RL or agree with our decisions, we ARE real people with feelings and we're trying to do the best we can.

Hi all,

I have read this thread and I just want to add this....

Unless you are genetically blessed or just an awesome individual that can maintain good diet & excercise, most will struggle from time to time with weight. For the last 15 years I have been having 4 children. Running here & there and working & now cleaning my home, cooking, homework, practices, teenagers want to go to the mall.....you get it - no time for ME. So, I have let the lbs get the better side of me - literally. I turned 40 this year, and was disgusted with what I saw. Nothing I tried moved the scale so I went to the DR and begged for help. I was depressed and had fatigue all the time. I asked to be on the Phentermine which he prescribed 30mg. I LOVE IT!

I have been on it for 2 weeks & have lost 10lbs. I now have the power to not eat under stress and am working on choosing the right food. I haven't drank pop during this time with a little bit of walking I am starting to feel great. The side effects are there a little - the hardest for me is that now I DON'T WANT TO EAT. - Eating makes me ill. But that's just a side effect & I'm making sure that I eat & drink. My goal loss is 45 lbs and I will do it! I want to look at least decent in a bathing in Typhoon Lagoon this year.

Check this website out - you don't have to be on this in order to get some great support & advise --

I wish all of you out there the best of luck with what ever it is you are doing and/or struggling with.
Sandy

wonder if anyone else has had trouble getting it prescribed? I've tried everything (curves, dieting, ymca gym) & DESPERATELY want to get rid of the pregnancy weight, but I'm just so afraid that my doc won't prescribe unless he considers me obese. Anyone else have a problem?
