wonder if anyone else has had trouble getting it prescribed? I've tried everything (curves, dieting, ymca gym) & DESPERATELY want to get rid of the pregnancy weight, but I'm just so afraid that my doc won't prescribe unless he considers me obese. Anyone else have a problem?

My DR did not have a happy face when I asked. But I opened up and told him the truth. About how I felt, what my goals are and told him that I had done my research. I also played into his Ego I admit and told him straight out that I can get these prescription meds off the internet but I want to "work" with him on my weight loss plan. I told him that I trust that he would want me to be happy and I need help. Bottom line - I'm not obese only 45 lbs overweight. It was my low self esteem that was holding me back and my lack of will power. I told him straight out and he gave me a 3 month prescription. I'm due for my 1 month visit in May and I'm sure he'll be happy with my progress. As for those DR who won't do it at all, I have heard that you can search in your area for weight loss clinics and their DR's there can put you on a weight loss plan w/meds.

I also had no problem getting it prescribed because my Dr. knows I have been struggling with these baby weight pounds for 2 years and they are not coming off no matter how little I eat and how much I exercise. It goes by your BMI usually 29 and higher can get a script. My BMI was 27 when I got prescribed and now it's 25.5. Technically I could lose 20 lbs. to get what I call healthy, the Dr. probably thinks more like 10 lbs. . I don't think you should have too much problem getting it prescribed.

I've wanted to check in with this thread for the past 2 days, but I've been too busy. I was glad to see it because I couldn't find it about a week ago. I was afraid that they deleted it.

In my first month using phentermine I lost 12 pounds!!! And in the 1 1/2 weeks since then I've lost another 4. That puts my total with phentermine at 16 and I had lost 5 before I started so total.....21 pounds!!!! It must be showing finally because just this week I've had several comments. I feel blessed to have found this product. I don't like that I need a pill, but I do need it. I had tried every thing. I hate feeling like I have to hide the fact that I'm taking this. That's why I'm so glad we have this thread- very non-judgemental!

I agree with starting a new thread. Let me know if anybody does.

I have read this thread and I just want to add this....

Unless you are genetically blessed or just an awesome individual that can maintain good diet & excercise, most will struggle from time to time with weight. For the last 15 years I have been having 4 children. Running here & there and working & now cleaning my home, cooking, homework, practices, teenagers want to go to the mall.....you get it - no time for ME. So, I have let the lbs get the better side of me - literally. I turned 40 this year, and was disgusted with what I saw. Nothing I tried moved the scale so I went to the DR and begged for help. I was depressed and had fatigue all the time. I asked to be on the Phentermine which he prescribed 30mg. I LOVE IT!

I have been on it for 2 weeks & have lost 10lbs. I now have the power to not eat under stress and am working on choosing the right food. I haven't drank pop during this time with a little bit of walking I am starting to feel great. The side effects are there a little - the hardest for me is that now I DON'T WANT TO EAT. - Eating makes me ill. But that's just a side effect & I'm making sure that I eat & drink. My goal loss is 45 lbs and I will do it! I want to look at least decent in a bathing in Typhoon Lagoon this year.

Awsome job on the weight loss! Keep it up! I am thankful for this thread also because I am also not telling people i'm on this for fear of the comments they might have. glad I got you guys.

i took phentermine but i purchased it online with no dr. prescription..yes i know i was crazy! i did loose 20 lbs. and while i was on it i had trouble sleeping...your really never hungry... everything seemed almost wonderful..i felt like this was the magic pill. until I ran out, i had a migranes, back aches, i felt like i wanted to eat everything that was in front of me and i didnt not have the energy phentermine gave me. . i had horrible withdrawls. I was very close to purchasing the diet pills again since i felt useless with out them. But i am very glad i didnt. and i would never do it again. Really the best thing is to exercise and eat healthy and the lbs will come off. I dont recommend phentermine. I think it could lead to a major addiction.

You are right - they can become an addiction which is why DR's recommend three month supply - as needed. Then of course, they're are some that start at over 200 plus pounds & three month is not long enough to loose the healthy way - every one has a different situation. What my DR said that once I'm close to my goal, the weaning process will begin by slowing eliminate the dosage & times I take my pill. Now i'm on 30 mg - he'll reduce to 15mg for a while then instead of 1x a day maybe every other, etc. This slowly removes you from the meds so they're no withdrawl symptoms. This is also in the head - we start looking good, feeling good, good eating habits along with excercise - it soons becomes habit so when we're off, it's not like a deer in headlights - we are already used to the new way of life....

Tenia66, I believe you misunderstood what I was saying. I was saying that I have no problem taking a pill if it helps me in a certain area of my life and the poster who said that pills were a crutch was wrong.

I also thought you were agreeing with the other post that said we all need pills for a crutch and we should just diet and exercise, which of course many of has been doing forever.

I just had to add-- that I strongly advise anyone to NOT purchase any prescription drug online. It is ILLEGAL to make such a purchase. And while the DEA will probably not target your one time purchase, I would be more considered of the substance you actually received.

Some of those pills are different doses and are made in different labs. Some are brand name and some are generic. I take the white with blue specs 37.5 which my doctor prescribed for me. I started only taking a half a tablet a day but now I started to take a whole one. I would not order online as I read on the Phentermine website that someone got pills from Pakistan so who knows how safe they are. I think they had to throw them out and they are more expensive online too.

I wouldn't feel comfortable buying them online either. If you're interested in taking them, the best thing to do is go talk to your dr. Even if your dr. says no and won't prescribe them, I'm sure they'd be able to help you come up with an alternative. You're dr. knows you and your history. Only they'd know if it was right for you or not.

I just got done taking a week break and am starting them again this morning. I lost 13lbs last month and the week break I took was no different then when I was on the pill. I was not that hungry and was able to watch my portion control without being tempted by sweets and junk. My goal is to lose 22 more pounds. So we'll see....
