Did you like Vegas or is it just me?

I Just got back from Vegas. Did I like it, I'll say it was OK, not for me. I stayed at Mandalay bay "THE HOTEL". It was gorgeoues but it was to far from all the stuff in Vegas, Ya you could hop the tram then take a monorail but I'll tell you staying down at that end is not that great at all. Would I go back to vegas, nah, I am not a gambler, Ok so I love to gamble the slot machines but money just slips through your hands there, as far as drinking, lets be serious, how much can someone drink without throwing it back up?I only lost 50 bucks so you can see I am not willing to gambling my money I worked for to pay my bills. At 49 I like to be in my comfort zone and doing that with my money is not it.

I absolutely loved Las Vegas.
Was there 4 nights and lobbed there the day before turning 50.
I couldnt get over the size of the hotels / casinos!! The architecture blew me away. I stayed at the Imperial Palace, choppered over the Grand Canyon, rafted down the Colorado River and drank from sun up to late every night.

My only regret was not venturing up the strip to Fremont St.

I love Vegas too, but living in the UK it is a treat to go there (as well as to WDW!) I have stayed at the New York New York and the Venetian (where we were given a free upgrade to a high roller suite - and I am so not a high roller, I only played a few slots). I liked Vegas for all the other stuff to do there, the helicopter flight to the Grand Canyon, all the rollercoasters, the indoor skydiving, the shows and all the free stuff to watch on the strip at night. I also enjoy looking in the shopping malls and just looking at the architecture of all the casinos and hotels. Next time we go back we are staying at the Bellagio as it is a georgeous hotel and has a great location. I can't wait to go back. This time I might actually play some table games, but then again I might not as there is so much else to do there too.

I haven't been in years, but I find Vegas best enjoyed in small quantities. Just a few days to hit some good restaurants/shopping/shows/seeing the different hotels. And, I like to stay mid-strip - we stayed at Treasure Island last time and I way preferred to MGM Grand, Circus Circus and Excalibur locations where we have also stayed. I have also stayed at Caesars for business, but I was too busy working to enjoy. I was at the MGM Grand for business also, about the first month it was open and hated it.

i also love las vegas were doing a girls trip in january for our birthdays!! i'm so excited i love all the shows. were not big gamblers at all. when my husband and i went last year for his birthday we were there for 6 nights and between the two of us we spent like 40 dollars the most gambling

Vegas is my second fav place next to WDW! I love vacations where there is tons of eye-candy, great food and lots to do. Vegas definitely fits the bill for me. Plus I can feel rich there even though we're just average folks.

I didn't like it at all. DH and I went for my 40th birthday. It's the only place I've ever gone on a vacation I can honestly say I would just as soon never go there again. I'd go if I were given a free trip, and I know I'd find plenty to do and have fun with, but I wouldn't "waste" a trip on it.

We went this last November and we loved it and are planning our return trip this year! We stayed at Circus Circus and knew it was at the top of the strip and actually enjoyed the walking we did!

Gambling was fun, video poker my fav., we gambled a lot yet came home with some money! We also drank a lot and never threw it up. We only had two days so Grand Canyon, Freemont Street and a show, besides other things, are on our list for this year!

If Vegas is not for you then thats fine, but I for one loved it!

Didn't you ask for advice about this awhile ago - which hotel/where to stay in Vegas? I seem to remember a few of us suggesting to stay more in the middle of the strip, that the Mandalay is quite far down the strip.

Went to Las Vegas alone February 25-28, 2004. It was a "secret" trip because I didn't tell anyone other than my travel agent until after I had booked. I wanted to see what the fuss was about.

Stayed at the Mirage which is right next and connected by tram to Treasure Island. For $50 extra per night I was upgraded to a penthouse suite on the 28th floor that had a whirlpool tub.

I didn't gamble because I prefer to spend my money on a good meal or show. I saw (a little of) the Grand Canyon on February 26, 2004, a day on which it rained in Vegas and snowed at the Canyon. I saw Hoover Dam and lost my Cirque du Soleil Mystere ticket. Somehow got in the next night to that show at Treasure Island and enjoyed it.

The casino-hotels are all huge and cover at least two long city blocks each. I know it's about 2.5 miles from Mirage to Mandalay Bay. Everything is overwhelming in Vegas, especially at night with all the neon.

I didn't like it. Maybe it's because I was alone, didn't know anyone, felt out of place as a nongambler, and got sore feet walking past the porn slappers up and down the Strip.

I just got home a few hours ago from my first "real" trip to Las Vegas.
(By "real", I mean the Strip. I don't count my weekend in October to attend
my cousin's wedding at the JW Marriott resort 15 miles from there.)

Anyway, I stayed at Bally's with a friend who met me there from another city.
We jam packed in a lot of fun things to do, and yes, I like to gamble.

The absolutely BEST thing in the world is the Tix4Tonite booth. There was
one near MGM (by M&M World and the Coke themed store.) There are
others at various locations around the Strip, but they sell same day (and
sometimes next day) show tickets at huge discounts. To give you an idea,
we bought tickets to Penn and Teller, Star Trek Experience and Madame
Tussaud's for just slightly over $100 total per person. That's a deal.

I enjoy walking around the different hotels, but it's a LOT of walking. Best get
those ol' Disney shoes walking! The costs for the monorail are pretty
expensive, but it came in handy to buy a $9 round-trip ticket so I could get
from Bally's to the Las Vegas Hilton for the Star Trek Experience.

I had a great time and hope to go back again sometime.

You are rught and I did but the big factor of picking that hotel ( Yes it was gorgeous and probably one of the best hotels I have stayed in anywhere) was the money. what I didnt mention in my first post my MS and was kicking up so walking was very hard for me dragging my leg along the way.

We don't gamble but we enjoyed our trip last April. We stayed at the Orleans and took the shuttle to the strip. We saw:

Treasure Island
Stardust
Wynn
Venetian
Madame Tussauds
Paris
Aladdin

We had a great time.

We were exhausted and we didn't see everything. Which means they'll be another trip in the future. Didn't think I would ever walk anywhere more than my trips to Disney, I was wrong......

BTW, I was dragging my feet at the end of the day. I had to wear my crocs in the room to recover..

I have never been to VEGAS....but the thought has always been in the back of my mind. I know eventually I'll get there...but no time soon. I'm getting some good ideas for hotels here & things to do. Thanks everybody!~

We were there in October. I enjoyed walking around the hotels, but that's about it. The Phantom of the Opera was the highlight of my trip. I'm glad I went, but I really don't care if I go back....except maybe to see the Phantom!

I think it's a place everyone should see at least once. A drive out around the desert mountains, Lake Mead , Red Rock Canyon......or even the 2.5 hours drive out to Zion National Park is well worth it if you are going to Las Vegas. There's more to see than just "the strip hotels".

I took my mom to Vegas for her 70th birthday last November. She has always wanted to go, I never wanted to go. I assumed that this would be the one and only time I would go..boy was I wrong. I loved Vegas!
We stayed at the Monte Carlo (about mid-strip) & were able to walk to everything. We saw Phantom, the Bellagio fountains, Pirate show at Treasusre Island, & took a gondola ride at the Venetian (loved the Venetian!)
I was also surprised at how clean & fairly kid friendly it was. I had different expectations I guess, but it was very enjoyable & I'd like to go again.
Oh & I don't gamble (I played $20 in slots just to say that I did it) & I don't drink & it was still a blast.

well I am going back, just two nights and staying at the belliago, don't care about the money, I think to get the real affect of vegas ( this is my opinion) you should stay in the middle although I have heard the Wynn hotel is gorgeous but it is on the other end.
