Did you ever take your dog to a parade?

DD is marching in a parade today and I have nobody to go with. Rather than just being alone, I'm thinking of bringing my dog. She's a people loving Golden Retriever and I'm sure it would totally make her day.

But, will it ruin someone else's? Advice requested.;)

I took my golden to our local freedom festival last year. She is such a good dog that nobody was bothered by her. She loved people watching too! ;)

I went with my ex-boyfriend a few years ago to a Memorial Day parade and we brought the dog. Of course she was a bit smaller, a Yorkie, but no one seemed to mind :)

Thanks. I think I'll take her. She is very well behaved and just loves to people watch. And any excuse for going for a ride works for her.:D

I thought that was the norm to take dog with you everywhere, LOL.

Only thing I would consider does she handle loud noises well? Horns, and the like from the parade? I see dogs all the times at parades. My dog does not like the noise so we keep him home.

Yesterday, I was walking wiht my beagle and we stopped at a garage sale. The seller had her stuff spread in the driveway apron, sidewalk and part of the street so there was no where for us to walk by without going way out into the st. so, we waded thru her stuff.

some guy says, be sure that dog doesn't lift his leg and mark the stuff. I said he'd never do that! My beagle has better manners that some people I know.

herc.

We took our dog once and found out that eh does not particularly care for diesel engines (which ALL of the fire engines, and other assorted trucks that appear in a small hometown parade have! ).

Suffice it to say, on parade day, Ted stays in the comfort of his air conditioned home.

Happy to report that she enjoyed herself immensely. And so did all the little kids around us. They couldn't get enough of petting the doggie. Which worked for Cheyenne too.;)

I think it would be fine. If someone who has an allergy is near you, they should speak up and if they do, you should move away from them. But other than that, I think it's fine.
