Have a vague memory of something that once was or may still be at Walt Disney World? Want fellow Disers to assure you that you are not imagining things? Post your memory; whether it be a character, show, merchandise or anything else you might remember. Others can hopefully chime in and confirm whether it once was or still is.

I'll start....

When I was younger I remember that the muppet store in Hollywood Studios had a section where you could build your own muppet. I believe it was pricey (but a lot is pricey to a small child with a tight souvenir budget). Does anyone remember this or is my brain making it up?

You do remember that correctly. It was the Muppet Whatnot work shop. It is gone, but you can still build and order your own Muppet whatnot online through FAO shwartz's website.

I remember going to Grad night in May of 1993. In MK from around 11pm to sometime in the morning! Maybe 6am? When did they stop doing grad nights?

just looked....apparently 2011? I went in 2000.....Destiny's Child and Jessica Simpson....apparently Youngstown and BBMak too.....

I remember having Minute Maid juice box machines on each floor in the Poly back in 1988.

Every morning i remember my dad getting me one in those white paper boxes. Not sure if this is true or he went to the food court or if they really had OJ machines lol

1993 — Jon Secada, Shai, PM Dawn, Hi-Five, Classic Example, Boy Crazy

I think ours was until like 4am or something.....we got home between 7 &9am....3 hours north of Orlando....

When AK first opened, I remember that for the first couple of years there was a captivating waterfall at the entrance of the park, the left just over the Rainforest Café building, the waterfall was ENORMOUS and really gave the entrance of the park an incredible feel, to this day it is still printed on the illustrated park maps, however, the waterfall is no longer there and was apparently permanently gutted and covered up with greenery and trees :confused3

Boy I remember that too.... but I could be confusing that Rainforest Cafe for another one that has it... I'll have to look thru my old pics and see.

I remember the sites at Fort Wilderness were very private in 1977. It appeared that there was 6 feet of dense jungle between sites.

I know that they removed a lot of non native plants but I'm pretty sure they reconfigured the sites to add more closer together.

Yes. The waterfall was there and it was huge. I wasn't even aware it was gone until just now. Been there many times lately. Who know?

Great idea for a thread.

So here is my fuzzy memory. I think I remember that the Time Machine (the circle vision movie where Monsters Inc laugh floor sits now) was narrated by Robin Williams. Is that right?

yup, this was The Timekeeper

I loved Superstar television....but not really a fuzzy memory.....I did it a lot and my dad finally got picked to be in a scene! WOO!

I also loved the interactive end of the sound effects show (maybe even before it was Drew Carey?) where me and my friend did the Roger Rabbit voice over thing for at least 30 min.....it was deserted in there....

I seem to remember a restaurant (don't remember which park) that looked like the old Chain Reaction set but haven't been able to find it more recently

(I still have dreams that take place in the old Odyssey restaurant in Epcot sometimes)

I vaguely remember this, I think it was in MGM when the american idol exprience was that be in a tv show attraction. I can't remember the name either.

Great idea! I love the history of the parks!

We have pics of a character breakfast from the late 80s (probably 88 or so?) meeting Chip & Dale and I always thought it was at the Contemporary (because I remember the monorail being a big part of it). Is that possible? Was it Chef Mickey's?

I was also at Grad Nite in 1993,we did Medieval Times before going to MK at 10pm or so,but I think I remember staying until 5am.I still have the brochure with the music acts and all the schools that went on the back.It was a good experience but not great since the AC on our bus was not working on the way there so we weren't smelling that great from the moment we got there after sweating for 4-5 hours.

Wow I was younger but I also remember this. I want to say chip and dale was always in fort wilderness but I do vaguely remember a breakfast that they were also at. I don't think it was poly and it wasn't the decor of ft wilderness so it has to be contemporary . IIRC that's when grand floridian and wilderness lodge was still being constructed.

Thanks, that was driving me nuts. I knew I remembered a restaurant that looked like that.

As for Grad Nite didn't do that but went to disney with my 8th grade class as part of our "Senior Trip", that was cool

I remember when the Backlot Tour at the then MGM Studios had a section hosted by Bette Midler. It is a foggy memory for sure. I also remember something there for Honey I Shrunk The Kids where someone got to sit on a large sized bumble bee and they then made it look like you were in the movie riding the bee. Does anyone else remember that?

I love this thread, I have one I think I remember and I've been looking for someone to ask for years! Trust me, I don't ask this to start any refillable mug debates, and its moot anyway since they got the RFID chips in them. But I swear I remember during my families early stays at POR (then it was Dixie Landings) back in probably the early 90's, when they first came out with the refillable mug idea, there were signs above all of the refill stations that said the mugs were good forever, and you could bring them back during future stays and keep using them. This was way before digital photos and before people commonly used the internet, so I of course don't have a picture of the drink machines or those signs. Does anyone else remember that, or am I hallucinating? This was when each resort had it's own mug, and they were not as decorated (the POR, then Dixie Landings, one was yellow with the DL Logo and flowers on one side.) At some point after that they made them good for only the length of stay, and then even later I joined these boards and found out that the refillable mugs could really cause contention with people! I have been dying to know if anyone else remembers when these mugs were supposedly good forever??
