Did I do the right thing? Changed from 11B to 11C...

Are you able to switch to a TA after final payment is made and if you booked via phone with Disney? Booked a inside Gty as Disney allowed us to book 4 in the room but other websites wouldn't let you book more then 3. This was a 25% savings over booking a specific room.

You can't transfer the reservation after the final payment is made.

Booked an 11c and got an 11c for 4 people on the Dream. Way too small. No drawer space. Left most stuff in the suitcase. Hard to get out from side of bed.

Luckily it's only two of us, and we're taking a bus to NYC, so we can't bring much - and I'm known for my packing skills! :lmao:

Alright, thank you guys! We we see what happens. I doubt we'll be in the room that much, and once I'm asleep, you can't wake me up for anything, so if there is any noise from above (which reading reviews it doesn't seem like), I won't hear it.

I got assigned 2021, which I was surprised about since, like I said, over a year out.

Thanks for your input - I think we'll be good no matter what - at least we're on the boat.
We've sailed in the 11C's back when they were 12's, and loved it.

Which Canada cruise are you taking? We're on the 6/10/11 sailing, in an 11C--2019, which is right next door to yours! We booked it as an 11C, and were assigned a room number right away, so they aren't always sold as GTY.

I am as frugal as they come but I would DEFINITELY switch back.

I personally don't like Deck 2 -- it always seems more crowded and noisy to me down there.

For only a $50 difference, I'd nab one of those sideways rooms in a heartbeat. In face, for our Canada booking next year, I specifically requested an 11B sideways room -- and we normally book 11A (on DVC points so price isn't really a major factor there) because we like to be midship.

We visited a friend in an 11B on our last cruise and were blown away at how much bigger the room feels, as well as how much more secluded the area of the ship is; much less "running in the hallway" noise. And you get a steamer trunk for extra storage. And there's an area near the bathroom which is perfect for luggage stowing, as it never really all fits under the bed, now does it?!

I know I would be much happier with an 11B sideways than an 11C, so I would really strongly encourage you to switch back. It's definitely worth the very slight extra cost.

I was really surprised when we got a room number straightaway for our cruise to Hawaii even though we booked a category 11C. I remember that they used to go straight into GTY status. We have 2519 and we are delighted with this this. We normally are on deck 6 and often have a sideways cabin, but we had a cabin 3 cabins down for our Med cruise and this was great. We had no issues with noise and the location worked for us.

:rotfl: Hey neighbor! We're on the same sailing. So I guess now it comes down to you - how loud are you planning on being?

I don't know. How loud would you like us to be? Keep in mind that we're just two old folks who are usually sound asleep by 11:30 at night:rotfl2:!

I can say that the location is great. We were in 2013 a few years ago, and it's very quiet (except for loud neighbors, of course), and really easy for getting on and off the ship. A funny story about that room--we had booked a room on Deck 7, and then, for some reason, DCL dropped the price of the cruise dramatically. A whole bunch of DIS'ers saw that, and we all cancelled our original rooms and rebooked at the new price. We had every one of the old CAT 12 rooms!

I look forward to meeting you on board!

Just curious what room you were in? I will be sailing in an 11C with 3 children. 12,10,4. Wanted a porthole room but are all sold out on the cruise we were booked for. Was worried about it feeling too cramped but at this point don't have a choice. Only other option is a 6 and don't want to spend that much. What was your mix of adults/children in the room if you don't mind me asking.

All cat. 11s are the same size @ 169 sq. ft. on the Dream and Fantasy. I was in an 11C with one other adult, and found the storage to be lacking for just the 2 of us. I don't know if the larger oceanview cabins have any more drawer space, but I expect to be partially living out of my suitcase (under the bed) on my 7-night Fantasy cruise next year in another 11C.

If you're on the Wonder or Magic, the cat. 11 is a bit larger at 184 sq. ft. I haven't had an inside cabin on those ships, but I hope some of the extra space is for storage.

We were in a 11C, 2 adults, 2 kids (2, 7) and I agree that it is seriously lacking in storage. We pack very light to begin with, each kid had 1 pull out drawer, DH had the 3rd, I had to toss my stuff in the thing that doubles as a coffee table. It is lucky that you can easily slide your suitcase in and out from under the bed.
I also found the hallway leading into the room in a 11C extremely narrow. We are not very large but found it tight dragging a suitcase into the room. The hallway is wider in a 11A, which my parents stayed in, so we had something to compare to.
