Did I do something wrong?

I'd really like some opinions on this....

I am currently booked in October...this is when I really want to go for a lot of reasons, but there is a chance we won't be able to, both because of DH work/vacation days at that point and the fact that the deadline for paying off the whole thing is creeping up on us fast....and I just found out I need a root canal & crown. Not cheap. Anyway, we are also considering late November (when we can get FD!) but feel like everything could be booked if/when we decide we can't go in October, so I was thinking of booking a second trip right now...knowing I can always cancel.

Well, I called last night and was honest about why I wanted to book and was told I couldn't do that...he said they had a policy against booking 2 trips unless I was actually planning on coming. But, if I hadn't told him the truth, he woulnd't have known we weren't going to use both trips! (and I've seen a number of people on this board that have 2 trips booked within months of each other) So I thanked him and then called right back....and got the SAME GUY! I think he triggered something to make sure I got him again. I panicked and hung up and now I'm nervous to try again...like they have me "marked." But I really need that November res as back up...otherwise Disney may lose me totally. Obviously Disney doesn't want me to do it, but how do you guys feel?

Call back and book the trip and if asked, say yes, I know I have another trip booked. That is all they need to know. If there are problems, ask to speak to a supervisor.

The other option is to book online what you want.

Good luck!

I thought about booking online, but I've been afraid to even try that. I know it sounds stupid, but I don't want them thinking I'm trying to beat the system or something. I just want to bring my 4 kids to Disney for the first time at the best price I can get:)

Plus, I thought I heard somewhere that if you book online you have to do everything online from that point on...and I like being able to talk to someone if I have a question. Is there any downside to booking online?

I would book it solely for the reason that if you do change your mind - not only will you not be able to get FD - you may not be able to secure a room in the resort you want. If I had waited until FD came out to book my room at CSR I would have been SOL... they have been completely booked up the last month for my dates. That would have been May, for OCTOBER! Thank goodness I booked in March.

If you decide you can't go in October and then can't get what you want (with your money) in Nov. then in that scenario Disney is out of what you would have spent on your trip.

producergirl : first off, stop acting like you're doing something wrong!! :grouphug: You're not ! I would book online....go through the link under special offers for free dining (to make sure you're getting free dining associated with your package). Booking online is super easy.

We would have booked online except we got a pin so I had to call. But just because you book online (or call for that matter) , you're not tied to either option. We made all our ADR's online, I can pull our reservation online and make payments online. (even though we called).

I agree that in your situation, I'd make a second reservation. That way you have a choice. Just make sure you cancel one within the 45 days so you get your deposit back. (because that would totally stink !!)

The CM you got obviously wasn't going to be much help to you. It's not uncommon. I don't know why he took such grave offense to what you were doing, but hey, that's his problem. Just remember, he's got a job BECAUSE you go to Disney on vacation !! If you feel more comfortable, call this morning and just book the trip. Don't tell them the whole story, just book your trip.

Most of all, have a wonderful trip whenever you're able to go. :dance3:

Thanks for everyone's advice. I agree...why wouldn't Disney want me to come?! I have 4 kids who have never been to Disney before, so we are obviously going to spend some money.

Anyway, I went ahead and booked the November dates online..it was easy. BUT..when the confirmation came back, I noticed that it listed Quick Service Dining, even though the resort was listed as Moderate. I called immediately and they said it was probably just a mistake on the email, but that's a big mistake. Oh brother...nothing can be easy.

Anyway, here I sit with 2 reservations, so we'll see what happens...

Thanks again for all your help!

Joanna,
Call them back and ask them to email you a confirmation of what they have.....then you'll have something. When you log into "My vacation" on Disney's website, does it say quick service also ?

I agree w/ you though, that's a big mistake. But it's unlikely that they'll give you quick service since reg dining is what's offered at the mods. they're not going to downgrade you.
