Thanks to the boards and someone mentioning that the Discovery Channel was going to have a special on Expendition Everest. It was interesting and very informative. My DH and my DS are so excited to go on it when we are there in August. In fact my DH wants to ride each day we are down there, at least 8 times. We will see if that happens.

My DH had a question while watching it. They were showing all the artifacts that are on display. Do you see those while walking to get to the ride or are they somewhere else in that area. And for people like me and my other DS who will not be going on the ride, are we able to still see all the artifacts or not? Thanks. :)

I watched it and I was completely in awe! I thought the props, the attention to detail, just everything was amazing. Makes me want to go back to college and become a mechanical engineer!! It was just amazing!! Now I really WANT to ride it!!!

I loved the show too ... kept my kids up watching it! We went on the ride in March. So it was real fun to see behinds the scenes. It is amazing how much attention to detail Disney pays to things. As for seeing it all and yet NOT riding ... I would suggest you get in the line to ride ... then when you are close enough to be put on the ride ... just say you are switching off with your spouse. They'll move you somewhere... they are hopefully getting better at that. The CM who did that with us wasn't as helpful as he/she could have been. It is worth it to walk through the buildings to see all the artifacts. You won't see them if you are not in line to ride. The only building you can go in otherwise is the STORE. Which is filled with new things they want to sell !!!
I can't wait to go back in July after watching the show !!! I missed several things I want to see !!

I watched it too. I just love seeing how things are built and how the concepts come to life! I would imagine they must have a chicken exit at the front of the line. Couldn't the family wait in line together and look at all the great stuff, and then at the end, only those in the family who want to ride continue on?

I watched it - it was amazing! I've taken pictures of all stages of the building, back to when they just had the fence all the way up to when it opened. Disney really pays attention to the details. I won't be riding it, but It looks really great. I wish they would let us chickens ride through in slow motion some time!

I also saw it and I loved it! It was so interesting. The problem is, I bet most people will go on the ride and not even pay attention to the detail and miss all that the imagineers put into the ride and the area surrounding it. I think everyone should watch that show before they go on it so they can fully appreciate what effort and thought went into the ride. :thumbsup2

That show actually got DD 7 excited to ride it. All along she was telling us "no way" Now she can't wait. Neither can I!!!

THESE WERE ON ANOTHER THREAD: OVERHEARD TWO ELDERLY LADIES TALKING ABOUT USING THE AK EE RESTROOMS. "NEED TO USE THE RESTROOM BUT NOT THIS ONE, LOOKS LIKE IT'S ABOUT TO FALL DOWN. YOU'D THINK THEY WOULD PAINT THE OUTSIDE AND FIX THE CRACKS IN THE WALLS." THE RESTROOMS ARE SO AUTHENTICALLY DILAPIDATED ON THE OUTSIDE, YOU EXPECT TO FIND A TRENCH AND A COUPLE HOLES IN THE FLOOR. OF COURSE WHEN YOU GET INSIDE THEY'RE JUST LIKE ALL THE OTHER RESTROOMS. POSTED BY erikthewise AND THE 1ST ONE I DIDN'T GET THE NAME.

My DS-6 was the opposite. All along he said he wanted to ride it. Until he watched the show last night. The Yeti scared him. He thinks it looks too real. The way the yeti trys to grab you! Oh well, guess we won't be riding that one in June. It's all right though, Ds-4 wasn't able to ride anyway. :goodvibes

Anyone know if this is coming on again any time soon? I MISSED IT!!!1 :guilty:

Discovery Channel seems to run their programs many times, so you will probably get a chance. I watched it over the weekend, as did dh & dd. As a result this ride is now #1 on the charts for us to ride, I am planning on 2x the first day & at least 1 return on another day.

Can't wait!

I just checked the Discovery Channel website and it doesn't seem like they are airing it again anytime soon. If anyone hears different, please post here!

Did you also watch the one where they talked about how they came up with the idea and how they traveled to Nepal to find out from the locals the legend of the Yeti, etc? That one was very interesting as well. It was on Sunday night.

We all watched the show on EE, and can't wait to ride it in June! It's amazing how much work went into it and I think we'll all appreciate it more now that we know how it was built. I'll be paying attention to the details, and can't wait to get there!

That was interesting - I'm sure the Travel Channel will be showing it again!

Searching for it with my TiVO, it looks like it will be on again on Saturday, April 22nd at 5 pm on the Science channel (not Discovery). There are no listings after that one. I hope that listing is correct, I really want to see it with my kids.
