Did anybody see the Granddugger baby birth show?

My neighbor just had a home birth for her second child and said it was a great experience. And significantly cheaper than a doctor and hospital (she is uninsured). She said the experience was much better than her first birth which took place in a traditional hospital.

I haven't seen the show yet but hope to find a re-run. I bought tons of used baby stuff when my daughter was born 18 years ago. The money i saved is now helping to pay her college expenses!

well.....I've been with dh for almost 22 yrs, and I don't call his mother mom! I do call her by her first name, or by "mawmaw" which is what my kids call her. But she will never be mom!

I've been with my DH over 23 years and still call my in-laws "Mr. and Mrs. Smith". I dont feel good calling them mom and dad, which they'd like, and they dont want to be called by their first names. Works ok for us all!:thumbsup2:)

the back up Doctor was possibly because it was a male doctor. She seems so naive to me and I also thought that possibly Josh did not want her to have a male doctor. However, if that is true, come on now...it's your Doctor. Get over it and do what is best for the baby. I really doubt they decided after she went into labor to have a home birth. I am sure it was discussed before then. Also, I doubt we saw the whole thing from the moment she went into labor until birth. All I saw her do was breath heavy a few times and I am sure there was more to it than that! Also, it looked like Mrs Duggar and the daughter was in the room when the baby was born and I am surprised Josh was OK with that.

I'm on a pregnancy discussion board and there is a woman on there who doesn't want a male doctor and had a midwife. Hospital changed the rules and a doc or something has to be present and only 2 of the OB's in her practice are female. She has written in her birth plan that the male OB's are specifically forbidden from being in her room at all unless a medical emergency occurs.

The kicker--she's and L&D nurse. I'm only guessing since she is that adamant that maybe she had been assaulted or something. I didn't ask though. But the way she typed her post was very filled with anger.

But if a woman doesn't want a male OB--I don't see why she would have to have one.

And childbirth in and of itself is not an emergency. But certainly if there was an emergency that Anna would have endured a male doctor.

My OB is male.

I know a lot of women who feel that way about men OBs and none of them have been assaulted. My OB (female) actually has a lot of women of certain religions and cultures that do not allow men to look at that part of women. So it could be cultural, religious or even just something people are not comfortable with.

I just find it odd that you might imply she would have been assaulted. Many women are simply not comfortable with me looking at them like that.

for many, many years...actually there were no female OB docs in our city when I had my child. You know I wonder if it is true she did not want a male, was it because he would see her "private parts" and if so, many doctors for many reasons ask you to remove your bra before you put on a gown just for a check up. I wonder if all her doctors would have to be female.
