As far as I know it's gone for good.

I think it's unfortunate if they don't replace it with another playground. Yes Toy Story will be mostly for kids but the value of those play areas to parents of young kids is immense. Rides are great, but with the play areas kids can occupy themselves for a good half hour giving parents a break.

I could see them incorporating a wet zone in Toy Story land. Studios doesn't have a water ride and water play grounds are popular with the younger crowd. Also the themeing should be very easy they could even recycle some pieces from the HIStKs area.

I don't think that will happen. I think they are going away from the playground stuff at the parks.

Considering the Casey splash area in New FantasyLand and Shipwreck Shore in Shanghai they have included splash areas in at least those two major projects. I will admit that in the concept art I don't see anything that could be one but it is a cheap easy thing to throw in.

I just don't think we will see another playground or splash zone in DHS.

Any rumors as to what will happen to the HISTK playground? Seemed like an easy refurb for a Bugs Life if they can just flip the entrance to be off of Pixar Place.

From what I could view of it backstage today it's still standing but un touched.

Cast gates from the same backstage are that lead to where the large Osborne tree stood have been perminitly sealed and bolted shut. No cast access to Streets of America at all. Tables were moved from the next door Studio Cattering QSR to Pixar place in front of the Hot Set/TSMWM third track exit. A new Churro vending cart has opened there as well. Saw lots of trucks parked around the Pizza Planet back door, definitely moving along there.

When coming through the main toll plaza, more brush and trees have been cut out from Osceola prkwy to the old LMA site. That whole area is definitely moving along quickly.

Sadness. I know I'm first in line to diss Disney when it comes to playgrounds (cough* Toy Story Playlands *cough) but I must admit this holds a very special place in my heart. As a kid I loved that movie. Glad I got to experience it at least once.

Agree. Our children absolutely LOVED the playground. They easily spent a good 30-45 minutes in there, and would have happily stayed longer. And I confess it was a great place for parents to sit down and cool off a bit too.

I looked through the updated pictures today and wow... that's a lot of walls. How congested feeling is it now, walking through HS?

That's not very encouraging...Although I know/knew it had to be, it's still very depressing to see how bad the park has to be(right now) to be BETTER(for the future)...If that makes any sense....:faint:

I haven't been since the walls but I don't think it would feel congested because they essentially just walked off the back section of the park. It's not like you're walking through walled off walkways where there are walls on both sides.

But I don't think you can compare to the DCA redo. DHS doesn't have as many walls right now as DCA did.
It asked about congestion, not about quantity. I'm referring to something like this:

Are they planning to keep the stadium in the back (at least the seating part?) I happened to notice driving down world drive that there is a gap in the tress now and you can see into the back of the stadium and it was quick but it looked like they might have the roadway/cement behind it ripped up but didn't appear to be touching the stadium seats themselves.. I'll have to pass by and see if I can get some pictures or video of what is really happening. maybe it's just where the infrastructure to connect HS with the launch site across world drive is located.
